The Clintons: Never Again!

Democrats don’t like Hillary!!!

Here is a very interesting article on the Iowa caucuses.

Before I tell you what is most interesting let me repeat myself: Iowa is not America and the Iowa caucuses are waaayyyy over-blown.

However, there is something to be learned from even this unrepresentative gathering. And the lesson is this: Hillary is not the choice of a majority of Democrats. More importantly, she is not the second choice of those who don’t place her number one. That is the reason she lost in Iowa.

Here are the relevant statistics for one caucus site:
Clinton, Obama, Edwards, each in their corner of the room. The opening count runs as follows:

Clinton: 52

Edwards: 43

Obama: 39

Biden: 13

Richardson: 9

Dodd: 9

Kucinich: 2

Undecided: 1
Of 168 people, Hillary is the first choice of 52, or 31%.

The Democrat caucus rules require a candidate to receive 15% of the vote. If you receive less than 15% your supporters must decide who else they want to support or form another viable group that polls at least 15%.

…the final count is handed down:

Edwards: 56

Clinton: 55

Obama: 54

Hillary has picked up only three delegates from the unaligned, while Edwards has gained 13 and Obama 15. This is the same pattern that the rest of the state saw — the same pattern that each of us predicted prior to caucus night. Hillary is no one’s second choice.

And that’s important. The Clinton cabal has a hard core of loyal supporters. But that core is not a majority. And it will not become a majority because too many people, Democrats as well as Republicans, remember the Clinton years as a corrupt and smutty soap opera script.

For this country, the Clintons: Never Again!
