The guardians of civil liberty seem selective.

Regime “A” surreptitiously tracks communications between violent groups and people in and outside of a country. Civil libertarians go ballistic because a judge has not approved this monitoring on a case by case basis.

Regime “B” tells the user that if it contacts a government agency it can and will own the communications system you are using. When this notice is publicized, the notice is removed but the capabilities are not affected. Civil libertarians are silent as the tomb.

Is Regime “B” the US government under Roosevelt, The British Government under Churchill, the Nazi government under Hitler or another government entirely?
