A House Investigation Reveals Disturbing IRS Home Visit Practices

The most unsettling revelations involve a bizarre incident from about a month and a half after my case, on April 25, 2023. On that date, a woman was visited at her home by a man identifying himself as “Bill Haus” from the IRS’s Criminal Division. He then “informed the taxpayer he was at her home to discuss issues concerning an estate for which the taxpayer was the fiduciary,” and after sharing “details about the estate that only the IRS would know,” the taxpayer “let him into her home.”

The woman informed “Haus” that the estate issues had been resolved, and furnished documents to prove it. At this point, he informed her of his real purpose, claiming she was delinquent on several tax filings and provided “several documents to the taxpayer for her to complete.”

Hesitating, the woman offered to put him on the phone with her accountant, but when he didn’t answer the phone, she contacted an attorney, who “repeatedly told Agent ‘Haus’ to leave the taxpayer’s home since the taxpayer had not received any prior notice from the IRS of any issue.” The agent reportedly replied that he was with the IRS and could go into anyone’s house at any time, and before leaving told the taxpayer she had “exactly one week to satisfy the remaining balance or he would freeze all her assets and put a lien on her house,” as the Committee report put it.

  1. IRS agents make field visits using aliases;

  2. IRS agents make “pretext” visits, i.e. they announce they’re asking about one thing, when really by their own admission, they might be investigating something else;

  3. The IRS makes local, covert home visits without informing local authorities.

A major at the MPD called TIGTA to ask how the citizen could file a complaint, and the MPD was told “it would be a waste of her time.” Not until May 4th was the taxpayer able to speak with “Haus’s” supervisor, who confirmed she did not, in fact, owe money. He apologized, saying “some things that were said were wrong . . . things never should have gotten this far.”

The IRS told the Committee weeks later that the case was closed, and a day after that sent a letter explaining that the alias issue was not standard procedure:

The day it became OK to talk about illegal immigration

We Are Sitting Ducks And Our Leaders Do Not Care (excerpt)

When serious guys like Ambassador O’Brien are worried, maybe people should pay attention. Just look at those facts and decide for yourself, understanding that most people will refuse to do so. It’s scary and unpleasant. Based on our elite’s legacy of failure over the last few decades, it takes a lot of dead Americans for people to sit up and pay attention. Our elite actually supports our enemies. You have an organization, Black Lives Matter, that actively celebrates the murder of innocents and that has received millions upon millions of dollars from mainstream corporations. On our allegedly most prestigious universities’ campuses, you have a bunch of sophomore psychopaths cheering on the rape and murder of innocent people, all in the name of “decolonization.”

Meanwhile, the regime media and the Democrat Party are doing everything they can to neuter our ability to respond.

Our ruling class decided they would take the risk. After all, if you’re going to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. Except you and your family are the eggs. When jihad cretins go on a killing spree, they’re not going to attack college campuses. They’re going to attack where normal, patriotic people are. They’re going to attack churches, ball games, shopping malls, movie theaters, and other places where you and your kids are.

Why? Because they want to murder you. Actually, your death is a fringe benefit. They believe there’s political gain to doing it. If they spill enough American blood, maybe we will withdraw from the world. Maybe we will roll up into a fetal position and allow them to run rampant across the rest of the globe until, after their jihad has put the rest of the world under the black flag, they can finally concentrate their forces upon us and purge us from the face of the Earth.

I know you want to call me crazy. Next, I am probably going to tell you that a bunch of Arabs allowed into our country might band together, hijack four planes, and fly them into major buildings, killing thousands. How nutty is that?

Luckily, we have our crack law enforcement and intelligence communities on the case. I might feel a little more confident if the targets the FBI has been focusing on – people taking selfies in the rotunda, folks criticizing their school boards, people going to mass – were the actual threat. And, of course, our intelligence community saw 9/11 coming, got Iraq right about the WMDs, and warned Israel about what would happen in Gaza a couple of weeks ago. Oh, right, none of that is a thing. If you’re putting your personal safety in the hands of this coterie of clowns, all I can say is that you ought to go get yourself some good-term life insurance.

As always, your security is your problem, but luckily, the Second Amendment provides a solution. You need to buy guns and ammunition. I know I sound like a broken record, which is another reference that no one under 30 is going to get. When all hell breaks loose, you can expect communications to be down, you can expect chaos to rain, and if you think your local gendarmes are going to roll up in their back and white cruiser to solve your problem, you have got another thing coming. You need to do it yourself because there’s no one else who’s going to be able to do it for you. Not the cops. Not the army. Not Spider-Man. I was there in the Los Angeles riots when civilization literally collapsed in a matter of hours. You don’t think it can happen? Buddy, that is the natural state of man, not this beautiful illusion that we live with here in America.

You have got to step up, especially now that the people you trusted to protect you have utterly failed and invited in the jihadi hordes. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong. I would love to hear nothing but “Kurt, I told you so.” But that doesn’t change the reality. The risk is real, and your family’s life is your responsibility. Don’t be one of those terrified people in the next set of terrorist selfies with no way to fight back. Channel the warrior heritage that belongs to every American. Be ready to fight. You might die anyway, but at least you’ll die like a man.

Just because you’ve heard it before doesn’t make it any less true. Buy guns and ammunition.

Partying On

But the one core belief that effete Continentals and firebreathing Mohammedans do share is that everything is Israel's fault. As I wrote a decade-and-a-half ago:

The Islamicization of Europe entails certain consequences, and it might be worth exploring what these might be. There are already many points of cultural friction—from British banks' abolition of children's "piggy banks" to the enjoining of public doughnut consumption by Brussels police during Ramadan. And yet on one issue there is remarkable comity between the aging ethnic Europeans and their young surging Muslim populations: A famous poll a couple of years back found that 59 percent of Europeans regard Israel as the greatest threat to world peace.

Fifty-nine percent? What the hell's wrong with the rest of you? Hey, relax: In Germany, it was 65 percent; Austria, 69 percent; the Netherlands, 74 percent. For purposes of comparison, in a recent poll of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates—i.e., the "moderate" Arab world—79 percent of respondents regard Israel as the greatest threat to world peace. As far as I know, in the last year or two, they haven't re-tested that question in Europe, possibly in case Israel now scores as a higher threat level in the Netherlands than in Yemen.

... "What has become of us?" Bernie Farber is what became of you - the arse who thought me and Ezra were a bigger threat than the importation of legions of people famous around the world for their antipathy to Jews. You could try Googling it. It's a numbers game now:

"What has become of us?" Since 9/11 the Muslim population of Canada has increased from two per cent to 4.9 per cent, while the Jewish population has shrunk - just a little, but it's now down below one per cent.

You were an advisor to a putative PM, and you're entirely unaware of that?

Do the math: a five-per-cent Muslim population is more than enough to cost you the election. That Jewish point-nine per cent? Who cares? Certainly not enough for any Quebec politician mindful of his electoral viability to do any serious pushback on Montrealers partying over dead and raped Israelis.

"My city. Our city"? No. Their city. Your soon to be untended cemeteries. Same old story as the rubble-strewn Jewish graveyards from Tangiers to Baghdad and beyond. But this time it's because of policies enthusiastically supported by bodies supposed to represent the interests of the Jewish people.

I don't want to single out Bernie Farber, although he's a total prat. South of the border, there are few men in America I despise more than Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League. See my column from a decade back: "Hath Not a Jew Eyes?" Because of fools like Farber and Foxman, there will be no Jews in Montreal - and very soon.

As for those on the western left and right making common cause with the rapists and child-killers of Hamas, I get that they don't dig the Jews and that therefore it has a certain logic. Except:

It's one thing to be "anti-Semitic" or "anti-Zionist", as millions of westerners now are. But that's not where your comrades in the fight against Israel are inclined to leave it: They're anti-Jew mainly as a subset of being anti-infidel - anti-the other. Just to keep it music-festival-wise, see that Orlando nightclub, and Ariana Grande, and the Bataclan concert.

So one day you may get your wish, and Israel will be gone. And then they'll turn, as they always do, from the Saturday people to the Sunday people...

Rethinking the Civil Service

America’s institutions need structural reform.  We need it in academia, we need it in the corporate world, and we need it in government.  In all of these fields, the structures, incentives, and institutions that have grown up over time have been destructive, and need to be fundamentally transformed.

I’ll be writing about all of these things down the line, but for now let’s start with government.  Though you don’t hear a lot about it on the right, the left is all bent out of shape over the prospect that a Republican administration elected in 2024 might partially deconstruct the existing protected civil service.  I, on the other hand, am excited about that prospect, and only wish they’d go farther.

Prior to the adoption of the Pendleton Act in 1883, government employment operated according to the “spoils system,” which meant that hiring in the executive branch was controlled by the Executive.  When a new administration came in, everyone’s job was up for grabs, at least potentially.  This “rotation in office” had several advantages, which were widely appreciated at the time, and propounded by presidents from Jefferson to Jackson to Lincoln.

“Jackson argued that one serving in government for too long would inevitably lose sight of the public interest and come to use office for personal gain. He also maintained that government was or could be made simple enough for men of ordinary ability and experience, so ‘more is lost by the long continuance of men in office than is generally to be gained by their experience.’”[i]

Contrary to popular belief, though, the arrival of a new president didn’t mean that everyone left.  Even Andrew Jackson, upon taking office, replaced only about 10% of the federal work force with his own people.  Every president understood the value of continuity, and hiring new people is hard work.

Panetta doubles down on the Hunter Biden laptop lie

It is now obvious that the CIA, not Russia, was interfering with the 2020 election. They lied about Russian interference while running a disinformation campaign.  They lied when they said that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation.  They lied to cover up the Biden Family corruption that was found in the laptop.  There is, in fact, no actual evidence that Russia tried to interfere with the election, just as there is no credible evidence that Russia interfered with the 2016 election.  The CIA did what they accused Putin of doing.

Do Americans Have the Right to Applaud Hamas Murdering Jewish Babies?

The news is mind-bogglingly dire this week, and it’s just too much to digest. Way too many people are revealing themselves to be anti-Semites, along with the anti-Semites we knew about already. The more evidence we see of Hamas’ butchery, the louder the Jew-haters get.

So I’m trying to focus on the free-speech aspect of all this. Right now is one of the times when the rock-ribbed Republican on one side of my brain is at war with the hippy-dippy libertarian on the other side, so I hope you’ll indulge me as I work this out.

A lot of lefties are suddenly having second thoughts about their support for Hamas. They cheered on the butchery of terrorists, and now they’re facing the consequences. Their recreational anti-Semitism is hurting their career prospects.

Here’s just one example: Some billionaire named Bill Ackman wants Harvard University to reveal the names of students who signed a statement blaming the people of Israel for the murder of their own children. He doesn’t want to hire any of those anti-Semites by accident.

Here’s how the WSJ is framing it:

See, the Jew-haters are the real victims.

Well, if they wanted to keep their desire to kill Jews private, why did they sign a statement blaming Jews for the terrorists who are murdering Jews? Those geniuses chose to do that. They chose to go public with it. Now we’re all just supposed to forget?

Never forget.

Look, I’m a free speech guy. I support your right to say something stupid, or even evil. I’ll tell you that you’re wrong, but you get to be wrong in the United States of America. That’s what sets us apart from almost every other country in the world.

But…

Doncha just hate that word?

But… let’s say one of your employees decides to grow a toothbrush mustache and starts goose-stepping around the office in a brown shirt, yelling “Heil Hitler!” and “Gas the Jews!”

Would that be out of line? Would you be within your rights to fire him?

How is “Death to Israel” any different? It’s another style of anti-Semitism, but the message is the same. A keffiyeh on an American college campus is just a hipster swastika.

I keep hearing how dangerous Trump voters are because of their anti-Semitism. The FBI is even watching them. Well, how about the people who are openly calling for the genocide of Jews?

“Kill all the Jews” isn’t an opinion. It’s a threat. And when you make a threat, you’re accountable for it.

I wouldn’t expect an employer to hire a guy with White Power tattoos all over him. Why should I expect an employer to hire somebody whose anti-Semitism is cloaked in euphemisms and nitpicking and cynical lies?

You get to say what you want. I get to choose whether I want to pay you for your labor. God bless America.

I won’t go into detail, but I was exposed to anti-Semitism at a young age and I’ve always hated it. Particularly since 2016, right-wing anti-Semites have loathed me and I loathe them right back. And of course, the left still sides with Hamas, even after the copious evidence of their heartless savagery.

If you hate Jews, I hate you. We’re enemies. Your choice.

@RepSpartz EPIC Questioning of AG Garland

From time to time, an event occurs that provides an opportunity to see reality with great moral clarity.  This is one of those times that exposes the archipelago of evil that has festered in Western culture.  Part of it is home-grown, cultivated in academia, and part of it has been imported by a feckless ruling class.

It happened like a thunderclap on 9/11/2001.   The atrocity in Israel is longer lasting and gives us an opportunity to look at what we have allowed to happen.  We now have the chance to make the changes that need to be made if civilization is to survive.
