A National Milgram Experiment

A National Milgram Experiment

Have you heard about the rules for eating in public places in California?  You are supposed to wear a mask even after sitting at the table, removing it enough to take a bite and then putting it back on.  Who would have thought that anyone would propose such a ridiculous idea, or that people would follow these orders?

The media feasts on the fear they spread like a disease.  The result is a cowed nation following orders that make little or no sense.  Healthy people shut themselves in their homes for months and avoid meeting with family and friends.  In Virginia, most of the people I see in stores and offices are wearing masks.  A fair number of people alone in their cars are wearing are masks, and a few people walking or jogging for exercise are wearing masks.  In California, forget about dining out anywhere until January 4th, 2021.

What’s interesting is that isolation and mask-wearing don’t seem to be helping.  According to the CDC, during the last 7 days California (the purple line) is off-the-charts for new Covid-19 cases compared to all other states.

Note that states like Florida (the green line) is open for businesses.  This brings into question whether the restrictions that have been placed on people in various states are either reasonable or scientifically valid.

I suggest that any public official that issues unreasonably restrictive or medically questionable orders should be ridiculed and defied.

The rules we are living under resemble Communist societies.  State legislators have not passed these rules that we live under.  We are ruled by decree.  Legal penalties including fines and jail time are being imposed for non-compliance.  Pressures via social media are incredible.  People not wearing masks are literally accused of murder.  This is totalitarian.

It reminds me of the Milgram experiment.  Here is a brief synopsis.

Why is it so many people obey when they feel coerced? Social psychologist Stanley Milgram researched the effect of authority on obedience. He concluded people obey either out of fear or out of a desire to appear cooperative--even when acting against their own better judgment and desires. Milgram’s classic yet controversial experiment illustrates people's reluctance to confront those who abuse power.

Milgram recruited subjects for his experiments from various walks of life. Respondents were told the experiment would study the effects of punishment on learning ability. Respondents thought they had an equal chance of playing the role of a student or of a teacher, but the process was rigged so all respondents ended up playing the teacher. The "learner" was an actor Milgram hired.

"Teachers" were asked to administer increasingly severe electric shocks to the "learner" when questions were answered incorrectly. Shock levels were labeled from mild, to painful, to deadly.

The "learner" (the actor) appeared to react to shocks depending on the supposed severity.  The experimenter would pressure the “teachers” to give increasing levels of shock for each wrong answer.   The actor would pretend to show increasing levels of pain, to the point of screaming.

Milgram was shocked to find those who questioned authority were in the minority. Sixty-five percent (65%) of the teachers were willing to progress to the maximum voltage level, which could have killed the “learner.”

Milgram showed that many of us are willing to literally torture people when told to by an authority.

Recall that at the Nuremberg trials the common excuse for Nazi atrocities was that “I was only following orders.”

In many states, jobs and businesses are destroyed by Governors and mayors issuing fatuous, ill-considered orders with no concern for the damage caused to the people affected.  It is a disgrace.  We are being ruled by petty political hacks acting like medieval Barons ruling by decree.  They are using the Wuhan flu as an excuse to rule as dictators.

There is a movement in California to recall Governor Gavin Newsome, evidence that there are a fair number of people there who are appalled enough to sign a petition, if not rise up and take to the streets.  Elon Musk is moving his entire organization from California to Texas, and others are doing the same.

Governor Cuomo and Mayor De Blasio are struggling to see which one can do more to drive the people out of New York faster.

The original Milgram experiment ended when Milgram explained to his subjects that they were being hoaxed.   The end of this experiment will end when we, the subjects, see through the hoax, refuse to take part and rebel.

Stop Gaslighting the Year 2020.

You know that I’m sick of?  People badmouthing 2020.

Why?  Because 2020 is a mark on a calendar.  It has nothing to do with what happened this year.  It’s not responsible for a bloody thing!  Stop blaming the year for what happened to you.

There is a big part of the American public that blames 2020 for the pandemic.

Bullshit!

China is responsible for creating the Wuhan virus and spreading it throughout the world.  They lied about its origin.  They lied about its infectiousness.  And they deliberately allowed it to spread globally while preventing the spread of the Wuhan flu inside China.

And why is the blame deflected from China?

We need to look no farther than that stupid CNN reporter who accused Trump of xenophobia because he said the virus came from China.  Idiots – or Chinese agents -like this are Gaslighting the American people.

So, you’re stuck in a 12-foot square apartment and you ate alone on Thanksgiving and Christmas? Your grandmother died alone, and you could not attend her funeral?  The government tells you that you can’t attend church service but encourages rioting for Black Lives Matter?  Don’t blame 2020.  You were only following orders.  Following the orders of the little Hitlers in Richmond, Albany, Springfield, or Sacramento.

You’re not allowed to ask why, after wearing a make all day, washing your hands until they bleed, and staying at least twelve feet away from another human being,  the "news" reports are full of new pandemic outbreaks 24/7.

Here’s a hint: it has nothing to do with the numbers – or the year - 2020.

Maybe following these orders, closing businesses, throwing millions out of work, and spreading fear and panic among the populace doesn't make a virus go away.

Here's another clue. The people who tell you to shelter in place, don't go out to eat and don't travel spend their time in public, go to fancy restaurants with dozens of friends and take vacations with their families obviously don't believe what they are telling you.  You are being lied to.  Ask yourself why.

There are lots of people and institutions that are closer and more real than the number 2020.  The focus on the year is a deliberate distraction from those who are responsible for the misery they caused us this year.

See through the gaslighting.  Fight back for the truth.

Misrepresenting hypocrisy

Critics on the Left use the accusations of hypocrisy by misrepresenting what it means.  Hypocrisy is not falling short of our one’s ideals.  That is simply human frailty, something of which everyone is guilty.  The Pharisees were not hypocrites because they were really pious, but because they pretended to be something they weren’t.  This is what hypocrites are, people who pretend to be what they are not.

That is what we see when we see people who buy “Books by the Foot.”  It is all a show, pretending that the books on the shelf have been read by the owner, rather than installed by a bookseller.  A show designed for visitors - or watchers on Zoom calls- pretending that the owner is a voracious reader when he has not cracked open a book in years and has no intention of reading the books on his shelf.   It is supposed to imply how smart, how intelligent, and wise the owner is.  That is the essence of hypocrisy.  It is an illusion, designed to show that they’re better people than the scumbags they really are.

The same is true of the person with a sign in their yard saying, “HATE HAS NO HOME HERE.”

I have noticed these signs, most often in upscale neighborhoods inhabited by professionals or well-to-do retirees.  Why put up a sign like that in a peaceful, upscale, decidedly un-diverse neighborhood?  There is nothing to suggest that the neighbors are racists or bigots.  Or that hate has set up a household on their block.   So, what is going on?  Some call it virtue signaling. But it is really vice signaling.

Vice signaling is a defense mechanism, meant to displace liberal guilt. There was a moment, shortly after the 2016 election, when liberals realized that ordinary Americans had turned against them and that they had reason to do so.

Allied to the teachers' unions, the liberals had permitted our schools to descend to Third World standards. They supported an immigration system that imported economic immobility. They welcomed a regulatory morass that gave elites jobs but that placed a stumbling block in the path of those who sought to get ahead.  They watched as factories closed and workers lost their jobs when production was sent to China while their investment portfolios grew fat. They shopped at Amazon while their local retailers went broke.   Rather than blame themselves, it was much easier to transfer the guilt to conservatives. That is how vice signaling became the language of liberal politics.

The people with their “No Hate” signs sow more division than they do comity. It tells you that if you are not in tune with the Liberal zeitgeist, you are a hater.  They show their love by ordering a sign from Itsy, or Zazzle or Amazon to tell you how full of love they are, unlike the sinners around them  It is actually a hateful sign and people who put them in their yards are – like the Pharisees - hypocrites.

The Emperor Has No Clothes: A Tale for the Times

Isn't it time for all of us to admit, and say out loud, that we are ruled by fakers?

Many of these pretenders surely believe they are garbed in executive fabric but others are perfectly content to swan about in their undies. One thinks of all the mask-and-lockdown types who openly defy their own commandments and admonitions and arrogate privileges to themselves forbidden to their citizen wards, whether it be White House coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx flying to her Delaware island, or California governor Gavin Newsom partying maskless and at close quarters with his cronies, or Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker’s family traveling to their horse farm in another state, or Obama & wife flying to Hawaii and enjoying a kayaking holiday. They—and innumerable others—add another dimension to Andersen’s tale. On further reflection, perhaps it amounts to the same thing. Some hide behind their imagined glitz, others do not even scruple to cloak their naked indifference and disdain. All hold the people in contempt.

We don't have to conspire in our own delusions.

I knew from the beginning that Dr. Fauci was a liar

Dr. Fauci justifies lies, saying Americans can't handle the truth

You don't have to hit me on the head several times for me to get the message: our political leaders shouldn't lie to us about serious subjects.  We're a nation of mature people who ought to be trusted with information so we can make intelligent decisions to protect ourselves.  I get it.  Yes.

Except it turns out that this rule applies only to a president who's being lambasted for his proactive decisions to fight the virus, such as closing the border, even as all the "best" medical advice is saying "no masks."  Faced with this information, all that the president can do is project optimism, but Orange Man Bad is the end of every political discussion in today's media.

Things are different if you're Anthony Fauci, the man who gave that "no mask" advice.  In his case, you are as infallible as a god.  Thus, the other day, The New York Times reported approvingly that "Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, an adviser to both the Trump administration and the incoming [ahem] Biden administration — has begun incrementally raising his herd-immunity estimate."

Wait, were we not told by the infallible press so very recently that "Herd Immunity" was a farce, a fantasy, immoral and unethical?  Suddenly it's a goal to be reached?  Isn't the whole rationale of lock-downs and closing bars and restaurants so that we don't catch the Wuhan flu, ever?  What's herd-immunity if the vast majority getting it and getting over it?

The article explains that, early in 2020, Fauci was telling people that society reaches herd immunity when about 60-70% of people are immune. A month ago, he claimed herd immunity hits at about "75 to 80-plus percent."  Now he says it needs to be greater than 90%.  (That's still better than the World Health Organization, which has jettisoned all scientific knowledge to say there is no naturally acquired herd immunity.  Only vaccinations provide immunity.)  Why the lies?  Fauci explains:

In a telephone interview the next day, Dr. Fauci acknowledged that he had slowly but deliberately been moving the goal posts. He is doing so, he said, partly based on new science, and partly on his gut feeling that the country is finally ready to hear what he really thinks.

[snip]

Dr. Fauci said that weeks ago, he had hesitated to publicly raise his estimate because many Americans seemed hesitant about vaccines, which they would need to accept almost universally in order for the country to achieve herd immunity.

Now that some polls are showing that many more Americans are ready, even eager, for vaccines, he said he felt he could deliver the tough message that the return to normal might take longer than anticipated.

In other words, what Fauci means is that he said to the American people, "You can't handle the truth."

And the Light shineth in darkness: and the darkness did not comprehend it. — John 1:5

Throughout the night, the cold drew close,
And wrapped our home in shrouds of frost.
Within eight candles lent us light,
Returning to us all we’d lost.

Around us, all our village slept.
Our children safe, their breathing slow.
Eight candles gleamed beside our tree,
Their flames burned long, burned low.

Then all fell silent round my house.
The snow shone blue, the shadows, slate.
You could almost hear the planet turn.
I stood alone beside my gate.

Behind me, those I loved slept warm,
Protected by God’s endless grace.
Below me lay the village streets,
Wrapped in winter’s chill embrace.

The darkness waned, the morning loomed,
Within my house, the fire grew bright.
Outside I walked on fragile snow,
And prayed for greater light.

As a child, I’d lived in dreams of stars,
Of Peace on Earth –life’s golden seal–
And This Night seemed, of all those nights,
The one when all such dreams were real.

Tonight I know this is not so.
The world is not as we would wish,
But as we make it, day by day,
And this the mystery and the Gift.

The candles whisper of His Gift.
The stars reflect them high above.
The Gift is given to us again,
That we remember how to love.

Tyrants need to keep this in mind.

Canine Officer Stephanie Mohr 'Grateful' for Trump Pardon

The former Prince George's County Police canine officer Stephanie Mohr, convicted in 2001 of a federal Civil Rights violation, served 10 years in prison after her police dog bit a burglar during an arrest in 1995.

Another case for when the Federal Government goes rogue. See the video.

Bill Whittle says No

The Answer is NO!

Joe Biden has not been elected President of the United States.  Even if he occupies the Oval Office, he will have stolen it.  Those who support that theft are worse than thieves and robbers.  Stolen goods can be replaced.  “Who steals my purse, steals trash” as Othello said.  But those who steal the country out from under the people, who collude with political criminals and deny the rights of people to choose their own leaders, do what dictators and oppressors have done for centuries before America was founded.  The American people fought a revolutionary war against the forces of tyranny and oppression nearly three centuries ago and we will do it again.  People who wish to be free will support a revolution against usurpers and the overthrow of the oppressors.

To those who say “get over it” the answer is NO.  Our freedom is too precious to be stolen by plutocrats and their media lapdogs.  We have demonstrated that there are over 70 million patriots who will not sit down and shut up to be ruled by people who have been bought and paid for by our enemies.  We will not be ruled by snot-nosed bastards who got rich by bribing us with time-wasting tech toys that turned into instruments of lies and repression.  We will not bow our necks to communists and fascists who have demonstrated their incompetence, their greed, and their hatred of people who make the country work.

The answer is NO!

Stimulus Bill Stimulates Congress’s Lust for Power

And so once again the mountain has labored mightily and brought forth a mouse. Our dysfunctional Congress has just passed another “stimulus” bill designed to stimulate nothing but their own lust for power and determination to hang on to their seats at all costs—in this case, some $900 billion of our money, of which they have just doled out to the peons the grand sum of six hundred simoleons to help ease the pain of the Dreaded Corona Virus and their devastation of our livelihoods.

Thanks, Mitch McConnell (78) and Nancy Pelosi (80). Fat-cat elderly millionaires both, these lifetime swamp creatures and selfless public servants have just pulled off an astounding feet of federal beneficence: sending pittances to many Americans to “ameliorate” the effects of the CCP virus panic that they themselves—and “servants” at every level of government—have caused.

Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea—you’ve just been hornswoggled. Again....

Where they’re told to maintain anti-social distancing, as if even their parents and children were radioactive. Where they’re ordered to mask their visages, and thus their emotions. Where they’re ordered to quarantine themselves on pain of arrest by a thuggish police force that for the most part cannot question authority and will not use their powers of reason.

Where they’re expected to obey the increasingly deracinated orders of petty tyrants like California’s pretty-boy governor, Gavin Newsom—thankfully now the subject of a recall petition. Or New York State’s goonish Andrew Cuomo, who just dealt the city’s restaurants a potential death blow by ordering (on what authority?) the closure of indoor dining.

And most of all, where they’re exposed on a daily and even hourly basis to the malignant, politicized coverage of the mainstream media, which has now fully aligned itself not only with the Democrat Party but with its most leftward elements. It openly advocates now against the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly clauses of the First Amendment and against other aspects of the Constitution, including the Electoral College and the United States Senate.

Intelligence pros morphed into partisan political activists in rush to defend Hunter Biden

When Hunter Biden‘s laptop contents burst open in the conservative press in October, an influential Washington group rushed to the aid of his dad, now-presumptive President-elect Joseph R. Biden.

Retired U.S. intelligence officials became political activists, directly injecting their credentials into the presidential campaign. They signed an open letter asserting that text messages about Hunter Biden‘s cash flow from Ukraine and China, and how his father helped were a Russian plot.

There was no evidence of a Russia-laptop link, but the claim provided Democrats and the liberal media a counternarrative to ignore the entire scandalous storyline of Biden influence peddling.

“The politicization of the intelligence community, and IC retirees emboldened to pile on any anti-Trump movement, is a novel and dangerous development in American politics,” retired CIA clandestine officer Kent Clizbe told The Washington Times. “The genie’s out of the bottle.”

It was not the first time the intelligence community — retired and active members of the

Why I will not accept Joe Biden as president - Newt Gingrich

A smart friend of mine who is a moderate liberal asked why I was not recognizing Joe Biden’s victory.

The friend made the case that Mr. Biden had gotten more votes, and historically we recognize the person with the most votes. Normally, we accept the outcome of elections just as we accept the outcomes of sporting events.

So, my friend asked why was 2020 different?

Having spent more than four years watching the left #Resist President Donald Trump and focus entirely on undoing and undermining the 2016 election, it took me several days to understand the depth of my own feelings.

As I thought about it, I realized my anger and fear were not narrowly focused on votes. My unwillingness to relax and accept that the election grew out of a level of outrage and alienation unlike anything I had experienced in more than 60 years involvement in public affairs.

The challenge is that I — and other conservatives — are not disagreeing with the left within a commonly understood world. We live in alternative worlds.

The left’s world is mostly the established world of the forces who have been dominant for most of my life.

My world is the populist rebellion which believes we are being destroyed, our liberties are being cancelled and our religions are under assault. (Note the new Human Rights Campaign to decertify any religious school which does not accept secular sexual values — and that many Democrat governors have kept casinos open while closing churches though the COVID-19 pandemic.) We also believe other Democrat-led COVID-19 policies have enriched the wealthy while crushing middle class small business owners (some 160,000 restaurants may close).

In this context, let’s talk first about the recent past and the presidency.

The Stupid Establishment’s Lies Will Be Its Undoing

The coming vaccine fiasco is going to be yet another example of our idiotic ruling class’ utter incompetence and total paucity of wisdom. It is clear that there is going to be a huge backlash in the form of people refusing to take the vaccine. The vaccine may actually be quite good – real doctors (not fake doctors like Lady McBiden) have told me it is. I have no dog in the fight, since my bloodstream surges with powerful antibodies that have already defeated the puny COVID virus and render me invulnerable to its .05 percent death rate for my demographic. But other people could use a vaccine, and yet tens of millions of them won’t believe the vaccines are safe and/or effective entirely because the Establishment is stupid.

Here’s how the Establishment is stupid. It decided that we citizens were stupid and acted accordingly.

The Establishment decided that instead of having a vigorous debate and discussion over the safety and efficacy of these prophylactic potions, they would just short circuit the whole messy truth determination process that Western civilization has relied upon for a millennium – argument, debate, and eventually consensus after everything is fully and freely hashed-out – and move right to the Official Truth. All the smart set decided that the Official Truth would be that these vaccines were all perfect and necessary and that we needed to stamp out any hint of dissent lest people pause and think for themselves and thereby disrupt the plan by raising unapproved notions. And the tech overlords would do their part by ensuring that any info, ideas, or interplay that was not inline with the narrative would be suppressed.

Open Letter from an American Coward

 I am

an American, a New Hampshirewoman, a lover of liberty, and a happily married mother of four beautiful children. I have a wonderful life, a bright future, and could not ask for any greater blessing than those I have already received.

My enemies are

in a word, communists. Modern communists do not usually call themselves such. They do not talk about workers rising up and seizing the Means of Production.

Instead, modern communists adopt a rhetorical stance where they assume that all people and all property are ALREADY COLLECTIVIZED, then calmly discuss what WE should do:

- What WE should ALLOW people to own.

- What WE should ALLOW people to do.

- What WE should ALLOW people to say.

- How WE should ALLOW people to use their property.

- How WE should ALLOW people to conduct their businesses,

- … and WHO should be ALLOWED,

- … and WHERE.

- How WE should ALLOW people to raise their children.

- Who should be GIVEN which roles within society.

- etc.

The Attorney General cannot exonerate the CIA

A little-known, little-discussed stepping stone on his journey to becoming President Trump’s Attorney General is the fact that Bill Barr worked for the CIA during his George Washington law school days......

The CIA is a large security-compartmented organization and by design often does not symbolically want the left hand to know what the right hand is doing.

For the AG to wander into that hall of mirrors and make a grand lasting statement about CIA staying in its lane and not “spying” on candidate and then-President Donald Trump is preposterous on the merits.

Before the historical record sets to concrete, for the AG to say that the CIA stayed in their lane, a penalty flag must be thrown that such a blanket denial by AG Barr is factually illogical, not supportable by even the recent the historic record, and should not be allowed to stand.

Barr's Valedictory Interview

The tragedy is William Barr is that his view of what was needed from him was too constricted.  Retired FBI agent Mark Wauck's excellent assessment of William Barr's "valedictory interview," credits outgoing AG and rightly faults him for failing to deliver on the most important part of his job—getting to the bottom of Spygate.

It's a worthwhile read and concludes with this:

In many ways Barr proved to be an exemplary Attorney General. In ordinary times he might have ended his tenure regarded as one of the greatest AGs we've had. Unfortunately, in this time of constitutional crisis he will be judged to have suffered from a too constricted vision of doing justice. He talks of going beyond the limited view of setting the bar for acceptable conduct as criminal prosecution, but in practice he has done little to alter that view. To change public perception is a difficult task, one that cannot be achieved quickly--something like changing the course of a supertanker. Rather than attempting to educate the public, Barr has been content--or so it seems to me--to speak to other lawyers like himself rather than taking on the role of being an educator of the American public. I realize that's asking a lot, but it would have been easier had he exemplified his principles more clearly in the conduct of his high office when the demands of justice required a more expansive view.

With regard to the CIA's role:

Barr's words of exoneration regarding the CIA--while understandable with regard to the institution, and in particular with regard to the analysts who worked on the ICA--falls short of his own standards when we consider the conduct of the CIA's Director, who is, after all, the public face of the institution. The CIA analysts who worked on the ICA may well have been honorable, but it was Brennan's biased and "mistaken" overriding of their honorable work that ended up being embodied in the ICA and was presented to the world has a highly reliable view based on sound intelligence. In light of that, to say that "The CIA stayed in its lane" really doesn't cover the case. That statement will be used and misused by the same persons whose tactics--as Barr so aptly said in his resignation letter--were "abusive and deceitful", knowing no bounds of decency. Barr knows this as well as anyone in Washington, so to make such an unqualified statement regarding "the CIA", without drawing any distinctions, is a distinct disservice to President Trump--as surely as Barr's premature dismissal of election fraud was also a disservice.

Who Believes in Science, Now? Medical Journal Claims Biological Sex Has 'No Clinical Utility'

It seems The New England Journal of Medicine may be prioritizing transgender ideology over science. The new paper “Failed Assignments — Rethinking Sex Designations on Birth Certificates,” dated December 17, 2020, argues for placing information about biological sex “below the line of demarcation,” so as to avoid potentially “harming” the identity of people who will later identify as transgender.

For NY Times, no news is fit to print about Rep. Swalwell and a spy

Rethinking Pinochet: In Praise of Strength

Let's face it, most of Latin America is a mess.  And the biggest messes are those countries run by Socialists.  Chile is an exception and for that Pinochet is the reason.

Read the whole thing.

But eventually, in the mid-1980s, the Chilean economy took off. Today, Chile is the most prosperous country in Latin America, with a per capita income of $15,111 in 2018 (it was only fifth-best in 1970). Inflation for 2018 was a paltry 2.56 percent. Chile ranks 15th worldwide in the Heritage Foundation’s 2020 “Index of Economic Freedom”; the next closest country in Latin America is Colombia in 45th place. It also ranked first in Latin America in the Cato Institute’s “Human Freedom Index,” last published in 2017. And it is just edged out by Costa Rica for having Latin America’s longest life span: 79.57 years to 9.52 years.

Those statistics -- not the numbers but the human flourishing they represent -- are Pinochet’s real legacy. Would most Venezuelans today -- who live in a failing totalitarian state with a popularly elected Marxist government -- prefer that a military junta had wrested control from Hugo Chavez and eliminated a few thousand of the most hardcore Marxists? They would likely jump at the opportunity. Pinochet took over an equally nightmarish state that was racing toward either bloody civil war or totalitarian communism (or both), made hard decisions to correct the problems, nurtured the government for 17 years, and voluntarily relinquished power in 1990 when the nation’s practices and institutions were strengthened so that it could flourish democratically.

For that, the international left has damned him for all time.

Catch-Up Conservatism

Like Mark Steyn, my email is filled daily with please for money to keep the Senate in Republican hands.  But as Mark says:

Well, okay. But I just wish these Republican establishment types would occasionally cough up something in return.

Mark Steyn explains, as only he can, the biggest problem with the so-called "conservative" Republicans once they get in office.

Conservatives are those with positions supported by the left ten years ago, as they say.

Indeed. In 2000, when the Vermont Supreme Court mandated same-sex "civil unions", American conservatives were outraged. By 2010, when the left had moved on to gay marriage, conservatives were supportive of civil unions but insisted marriage was an ancient institution between a man and a woman. Now, the left having won that one and moved on to transgenderism, conservatives profess to be a bit queasy about transitioning grade-schoolers.

So you can take it to the bank that by 2030 rock-ribbed Republicans will be on board with penises in the girls' changing rooms, but determined to hold the line against whatever the left's next cause du jour is: human cloning, mandatory transitioning for delinquent boys, voting rights for animals.

Wait.   Isn't that already a thing at the fringes of the Left, and rapidly moving to the center?

There really isn't much point to conservatism that's just leftism ten years late, is there? ...

It is surely telling that the only issues on which the right has made any progress at all in moving the ball in its direction - Brexit in the UK; illegal immigration and a belated honesty about the rise of China in the US - had to be injected into public discourse by two outsiders, Nigel Farage and Donald Trump. And indeed in the teeth of opposition by the establishment's catch-up conservatives.

Catch-up conservatism gives the game away: The right has lost the knack of persuasion, and increasingly doesn't even bother to try.

If you want to see how feckless and gutless Republicans are, take a look at the Republicans in the Michigan legislature when they are in the majority!  They are not only steamrollered by the Wicked Witch of the West Whitmer - they can't even defend themselves from being cheated out of the last election.

HOW DARE Donald Trump TURN OUT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST PRESIDENTS THE United States OF AMERICA HAS EVER HAD IN SPITE OF HIS PERSONAL FLAWS WHICH HE NEVER TRIED TO HIDE WITH THE RESULT THAT HIS HONESTY CAUSED THE LEFT LIBERALS TO HATE HIM

I’m still trying to understand what 80 million voters disliked about President Trump so much that they decided to cast their votes for a man who served forty-seven years in government and has done absolutely nothing for the American people. And, I’m still flabbergasted that those same people would vote for a woman to serve as Vice President, a heartbeat away from the Presidency, with a rather checkered and not so moral past. I wondered why they despised and hated President Trump so much.

And so, I have many questions: Did you dislike that Trump made cruelty to animals a felony?

Did you dislike he raised billions to stop the opioid crisis?

Perhaps you feel that he destroyed ISIS, killed terrorists, including the leader of ISIS and the Iranian General responsible for thousands of American deaths, all without going to war?

Did you dislike the fact that the media and democrats, Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Cuomo, and Jim Acosta said we’d be in World War III by now with North Korea, and their prophecies did not come to pass?

Did you dislike Trump because under his leadership we became energy-independent and an exporter rather than an importer of oil, no longer relying on the Middle East for our petroleum needs?

Did you dislike him because he wanted to build a wall to keep criminals and drugs from coming into our country?

Did you dislike him because he just slashed the price for medications in some cases by 50%, which is driving big Pharma nuts?

Perhaps you dislike that he signed a law ending the gag-order on pharmacists that prevented them from sharing money-saving options on prescriptions?

Is your dislike for President Trump based on the fact that he signed the Save Our Seas Act, which funds $10 million per year to clean tons of plastic and garbage from the ocean?

Did you dislike that he signed a bill for airports to provide breastfeeding stations for nursing moms?

How about the fact that he signed the biggest wilderness protection and conservation bill in a decade, designating 375,000 acres as protected land, was that why you dislike him?Did you dislike that he loves America and puts Americans first?

Did you dislike that he made a gay man the ambassador to Germany and then asked him to clean up national security and un-classify as much of it as possible for transparency?

Did you dislike that he’s kept almost every campaign promise (with zero support from Congress who work against him daily!) plus 100 more promises because Washington was much more broken than he or any of us thought?

Do you dislike that he works for free, donating his entire $400,000 salary to different charities?

Did you feel that he did this for four years because he was “showboating?”

Do you dislike that he’s done more for the black community than every other President?

Do you dislike that he listened to senator Scott and passed Invest In Opportunity Zones to help minorities?

Do you dislike that he passed prison reform, which gives people a second chance and has made quite a huge difference for the black communities?

Do you dislike that he passed VA reforms to benefit the very people who served our country and defend our freedom?

Do you dislike that he’s winning and signing new trade deals that benefit Americans, instead of costing us more?

Did you dislike him because, unlike all of the presidents who came before him, he recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel, relocated the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv there, and then proceeded to negotiate four peace accords between Israel and Arab Nations when many in the media were predicting there would be war? Was that why you disliked him?

Do you dislike that he loves his flag and his country?

Do you dislike that he calls out and has shown time and time again that the mainstream media in our country has become corrupt and incompetent, twisting the truth to control and mislead the people and he is trying to protect us from this?

Do you dislike that he has been a President totally committed to ending wars and bringing our troops home?

Covering for Hunter Biden: Why Americans distrust the media

Big media lies; they don't even try to hide it anymore.  They hate  Trump and despise you for backing Trump.  They get paid millions and dine in fine restaurants while you lose your job.  They propagandize you and the people around you with scare stories about the Chinese virus and laugh at you for believing their lies.  They know better and go maskless unless the cameras are on.  It's scare theater designed to keep you docile and afraid.

And they lie about the incredible corruption that they and their fellow bottom feeders revel in.  Who would hire a drug-addled sex pervert like Hunter Biden for any job unless they were buying access to powerful leaders in high government circles, like Vice President (and soon-to-be) President Biden?

Covering for the Biden family by trying to suppress rather than report on The Post’s scoops may prove expensive for a host of US media institutions — especially the privileged social-media companies.

A majority of voters say the media intentionally buried The Post’s October bombshell about Hunter Biden’s laptop to help his father Joe Biden’s political campaign, a Rasmussen Reports poll showed Tuesday.

The poll found 52 percent of likely voters believe media companies provided scant coverage of the laptop story ... in order to boost Biden’s prospects in the election....

Among those who said they followed the news “very closely,” more than three in four (76 percent) say the media ignored the story to help Biden....

Meanwhile, Federal Election Commission records reviewed by Fox News reveal that top execs at Facebook and Twitter gave tens of thousands of dollars to Biden’s campaign — and “zero” to Team Trump. ...

Their aim was clear: They censored the story, ...

With the election over, news media that followed Facebook and Twitter’s lead in suppressing the report are finally running it. But they’ve taught the public not to trust them.

But they will not succeed because a large part of the American people is not going to go along.

It’s time for the ‘Deplorables’ to become the Unconquerables

Dear Chinese Communist Party: "Best Wishes from the entire Biden Family"

Chicago Schools Hiring People to Supervise Kids in Class While Teachers Work Remotely

The teachers will not return to the classroom with the students in January. So the cash-strapped city will hire supervisors to be in classes and at the school with the students.

This is because the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) refuses to get back to work.

Destroy the Social Media Overlords

They believe that shutting down debate will tamp down dissent.  It's like removing fire alarms from a house and thinking it will never burn down.

The 2020 election was stolen by the Tech overlords.  But they don't understand that they have created millions of people who hate them with a passion.  They and their families will have to have armed guards for the rest of their lives.  And guards can turn on you.

The difference between Trump and Obama

From the Road to Hell

President Trump’s voters saw, for the first time, a Republican who kept his promises against a tsunami of opposition from the media, the Democrats, and, worst of all, his own party. Trump’s rhetorical and policy loyalty to his voters has garnered fanatical loyalty in return.

Trump’s voters are often portrayed as cultists. This is projection. President Obama, a lightweight and lazy politician, enjoyed slavish devotion from the Left and more importantly, the media. It continues to this day. Obama’s 1000-watt smile, talk-show circuit gabbing and slow-jamming gave vacuous commentators and media types the character they wanted. Plus, he was black. White liberals, black liberals, and even many so-called conservative commentators swooned. Forget the content of his policy; his pants were pressed perfectly.

In contrast, President Trump enjoys steadfast support because he steadfastly supports his voters. If these citizens seem desperate, it’s because they believe, and maybe not wrongly, that they’ll never have political representation again.

The Road to Hell

Excerpt; read the whole thing.

The year 2020 wasn’t the apex of the crisis. It is the beginning of it. Layering COVID and the American mayors’, governors’, and scientists’ abject hypocrisy onto this toxic environment further illustrates Donald Trump’s point. The questionably fraudulent election is icing on the cake. The voters see and understand who benefits with the return to norms. Hint: It’s not them.

If people conclude that even voting in overwhelming numbers doesn’t matter, problems will be solved another way.

Shutting down the economy for a year, destroying small businesses, and closing schools (over one-third of small businesses in New York and New Jersey are permanently shuttered) while simultaneously wiping out the service industry and making those workers jobless means that the government and bureaucracy is undermined even as people need more support. There have been street protests, ostensibly about racism and police brutality, but as much about pent-up frustration from being penned like animals.

Big corporations thrive during the COVID economy, in contrast to their struggling small business brethren. Government workers have not missed one paycheck. Certainly, no elected official has missed a paycheck — except Donald Trump, who doesn’t take one and has seen his business shrink since taking office.

Meanwhile, there’s a looming mortgage crisis, again. Over six million people missed their October mortgage payment. Over a third of renters aren’t paying rent — but their landlords must still pay their bills.

Then there are the educational disparities being forced by big-city teachers’ unions, who serve the most at-risk children. The teachers are refusing to go back to school to teach, and these children are left behind. Kids in the suburbs are being taught in-person, though. These disadvantages will be felt for a generation.

Europe is erupting in protests. The American media, provincial and Trump-focused as usual, ignores it. How long until mass protests happen here? Or will the managerial class be content to have a large swath of America out of work and dependent upon the government?

What if we look back at 2020 as a good year?

American values are foreign to Silicon Valley because three-quarters of Silicon Valley workers are from foreign countries with foreign values.

This explains a lot.  From a GAB editorial:

The establishment is our enemy because the establishment is the enemy of Truth.

This includes establishment “conservatives.”

Gab is not being built for the establishment.

It’s being built to dismantle it.

Our terms of service have always been unapologetically American and place the First Amendment above all else as a guiding principle when it comes to content moderation. This is something most “woke” American companies won’t do. This is something the vast majority of politicians would never endorse. This is something Silicon Valley will never do.

American values are foreign to Silicon Valley because three-quarters of Silicon Valley workers are from foreign countries with foreign values. Would American workers unilaterally censor fellow Americans at the behest of a corporation? Perhaps, but there would undoubtably be a few more dissenters and whistleblowers.

Gab is the only technology company in the world brave enough to authentically stand against Big Tech tyranny and offer people a real choice.

There is a sinister similarity between the Cult of Mao and Woke Culture

The ongoing cultural revolution in much of the West has not yet achieved the absurdity of the Mao religion of 1967–69. Yet so-called “Wokeness” has the characteristics of a religion bent on the extirpation of heretics, as Joseph Bottum, Jamil Jivani, and Michael Vlahos, have observed. No wonder that some of the new religion’s adherents vandalized, desecrated, and burned churches and synagogues.

In America in 2020 as in China in 1966, ultra-left rage mobs have been allowed to riot, assault, loot, and pillage, as David Bernstein describes in “The Right to Armed Self-Defense in the Light of Law Enforcement Abdication.” The modern violent ultra-left is mostly above the law, including pandemic laws against mass gatherings.

As in China, the mobs do not target only the heretics. Anyone can be attacked for no reason at all—the better to terrorize the population into submission. Thus, mobs purporting to care about racial justice demolish apolitical small businesses owned by blacks; business that try to mollify the rioters by putting up signs of political support receive no mercy.

It’s easy to lose one’s livelihood over nothing, like the Hispanic truck driver fired for cracking his knuckles, which a Twitter mob interpreted as a white power symbol. Or for indirectly casting doubt on the mobs; an employee of a data company was fired for retweeting a study showing that peaceful protests are more effective than riots in achieving political objectives. (Both incidents are detailed in Yascha Mounk’s “Stop Firing the Innocent” essay for The Atlantic.) People who dare to criticize Black Lives Matter Global Foundation, Inc.—or who fail to praise it sufficiently—may quickly find themselves unemployed and unemployable.

School curricula and libraries are being “decolonized” by the elimination of classic books such as Mildred Taylor’s “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry,” a black woman’s history of her family in Jim Crow Mississippi.

Today’s cultural revolution, like Mao’s, is top-down and led by the most privileged university graduates and students. They have worked themselves into self-righteous fury against the unawokened lower classes.

As in 1966, modern iconoclasts deface and destroy all statues with equal zeal: abolitionists, animals, 9/11 firefighters, Indians, Union soldiers in the Civil War, Ulysses Grant, and Abraham Lincoln all get the same treatment as Confederates. Although the destroyers may not have heard of Lin Biao’s exhortation to “Smash the Four Olds,” they implicitly understand that building the “anti-capitalist” new order they want requires the obliteration of the memory of all that come before: old ideas, old culture, old customs, and old habits.

An important difference between China in 1966 and the West today is that the rage mobs and their more sedentary allies do not yet control all means of communication—but the space for dissent is considerably narrower than it was just a little while ago. Unlike China, we don’t have a formal Socialist Education Campaign in every classroom—but we have something similar in more and more educational institutions, from pre-schools through university.

And at least in the United States, many do have the practical means to resist mob violence; professor Bernstein’s article collects numerous examples. But the exercise of lawful self-defense may still lead to criminal charges by prosecutors aligned with the extreme left.

China’s Cultural Revolution began to end in 1976 when Mao died, and the pragmatic totalitarians staged a coup that removed the more idealistic totalitarians. Will the people of the Anglosphere have to wait that long, or longer, for rescue? Or will the hundreds of millions of people who don’t support the totalitarian ultra-left emancipate themselves from mental slavery? Will they end the reign of terror of today’s Maoists?

Is Our Second Civil War -- also a 'Forever War'?

The hypocritical calls from the mainstream media today for us all to come together, after the atrocities they perpetrated, boggle the mind.

Amazing. And now that the Democrats appear to have captured the White House, the message is, "Can't we all just get along?"

What lies ahead?

Some see secession. But though secession is unlikely, a secession of the heart has already taken place in America. We are two nations, two peoples seemingly separated indefinitely. Can a nation so divided as ours, racially, ideologically, religiously, still do great things together, as did the America of days gone by, to the amazement of the world?

The Washington Post’s Lies: Editorial board stands up for democracy dying in darkness.

The Washington Post accuses President Trump of lying and fomenting violence.

 Let’s be clear. It isn’t the president who is “lying about the election.” It’s the Washington Post and its left-wing media pals.  [and who's fomenting hate and violence?}

Where in the world would people like that get such hatred of Donald Trump?

Perhaps from reading articles like this one in August 2015 in … the Washington Post? Donald Trump: Spokesman for birthers, truthers, and Internet trolls

Or this one in February 2016:Donald Trump’s intolerable cruelty

Or this one in February 2016: Walking in David Duke’s shadow: Trump treads a well-worn path of bigotry

Or this one in May 2016: This is how fascism comes to America

Or this in July 2016: Donald Trump is a unique threat to American democracy

Or this in August 2016: Donald Trump makes his most dangerous comments yet

Or this in September 2016: Don’t compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It belittles Hitler.

Or this in October 2016: How much damage could a President Trump do? We can only begin to imagine.

And on January 20, 2017? At 12:27 p.m., a mere 27 minutes after Trump took the oath of office, there was this from the Post: The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun

And there are more — oh so many, many more pieces like this that have been vomited forth by the Washington Post. Depicting candidate Trump and President Trump as a bigot, Hitler, a fascist, dangerous, and a threat to democracy. He is the president they demanded be impeached — 27 minutes after he was sworn in....

Let’s be crystal clear. There is no place for violence in the American election process.

But the realization that to the degree that it may appear it is because the Washington Post and others in the liberal media have devoted five years to vilifying a good and decent man — and his supporters — while they themselves repeatedly — and dangerously — undermined democracy.

The Post’s motto is “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

But the paper has absolutely no problem with demanding Americans accept the death of democracy that is the obvious result when elections appear to be stolen.

Like this one.

China is seeking to supplant America as the dominant superpower

We – at least our feckless and incompetent ruling caste – are not serious about maintaining America’s position in the world. The Chinese are building up their military, and I expect that they have a better than even chance of beating us in a fight in the Western Pacific today. They will certainly overtake us in the near-term. They will also overtake us economically, particularly if we both ship them all our intellectual property, outsource all our manufacturing, and cut our own throats by eliminating our ability to generate energy as some sort of bizarre sacrifice to the pagan weather gods worshipped by the swells in Marin County and Manhattan.

Establishment is all-in on catering to the commies. It is bought and paid for, owned and happy, and dedicated to selling you out.

As Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds has observed, we used to export our values and now our terrible pseudo-elite seems intent on importing the Chinese communists’ values to replace the American ones that limit the ruling caste’s power. Have you noticed that our elite seems to want us less free, under tighter control, and without the ability to dissent? They have seen the future, and it looks like a Uighur labor camp filled with Americans toiling to make billionaires from New York and California even richer.

The Left is busy having America commit cutlural suicide

The Democrats Are in Bed with China, Literally

The most shocking thing about the recent news story that flatulent Russiagate hoaxer and American-nuking enthusiast Rep. Eric Swalwell was caught intertwined with a Chinese honey pot is...well, actually nothing about it is shocking. This is totally on-brand for the Dems and especially this particular clown. It’s not clear how far he got with this Democrat-diddling doxie, but the best case for Swalwell is that he was a fool who couldn’t see how unlikely it was for a DC 8 (and real world 5) to want anything to do with him other than as a mark. The worst case is that he eagerly betrayed his country for a roll in the rice with this Beijing bimbo.

We haven’t believed the establishment for the last five years. We’re not going to start believing them now.

For 5 years we’ve been told nonstop by all the best people and institutions that Donald Trump was a hater racist foreign agent fool of a failure. And what happened?

On Election day, 75 million + Americans demonstrated we don’t believe the hype. Instead, we voted to continue the self-evident growth and benefits that America First policies were bringing to the whole world. Reality trumped the Postmodern narrative.

Turns out, what we needed was someone who could provide an alternative to the carefully scripted and controlled slow motion destruction of the United States which has been festering for decades. President Trump broke the Uniparty monopoly Humpty Dumpty, and there’s no putting those pieces back together again.

We haven’t believed the establishment for the last five years. We’re not going to start believing them now. The elites are still behaving like it doesn’t matter what we think, they are going to do whatever they want with no consequences, just like they’ve done for years. We are supposed to submit to outrageous fraud, overlook the brazen criminal acts, and accept as inevitable a senile placeholder, who will open the floodgates for every sick, destructive domination fantasy the Left indulges in.

Not this time.

I'm beginning to think that a Civil War may actually come about

A Bureaucracy for Life - Mark Steyn

One of the striking features of America's alleged "peaceful transition" is that senior figures in the departments of Defense, Justice, Homeland Security and others are happy to undermine him in public, and indeed openly defy him. When the media report on this phenomenon, the roles mysteriously get reversed: Donald J Trump is openly defying the All-Knowing Fauci on public health, is openly defying his Cyber-Security guys by undermining confidence in the election, is openly defying his chiefs of staff by wanting to bring troops home from Hoogivsastan...

In the American system, the President is head of the executive branch. For four years, the branch has regarded Trump's efforts to head them as a kind of impertinence. He was impeached because the briefly famous Vindman and those Foggy Bottom striped-pants panjandrums believe that America has a permanent Ukrainian policy that it is an unconstitutional abomination for mere transient politicians to attempt to change.....

Woke Capital Isn’t a Game

Conservatives need to stop treating virtue signaling as if it didn’t matter....

This summer corporate American cheered on BLM and Antifa as they burned our cities. Now, Twitter and Facebook openly censor information, while Nasdaq asks the government to sanction their stringent new diversity mandates. These news items hammer out a familiar beat, offering a clear glimpse into our future. It is long past time to get smart on what this phenomenon truly represents.

Older conservatives and leftists entertain two different, but related, misconceptions that make it difficult to see how the structure of these corporations drives woke culture. Many people like to believe that woke capitalism is insincere posturing. H.R. blather protects the company from lawsuits, woke ads build goodwill with progressives, and companies will use minority lending programs to create CDO products. Big deal—underneath it all, business remains the cold world of profit-seeking rationalism. Advertising is manipulative by its nature, therefore the most conspicuous examples lead people to believe that corporate America’s leftist positions are insincere. Purportedly, business only cares about the bottom line, and corporate America’s new persona is cynically dependent on how it impacts profit.

FreedomCovid LoopholesUK "High-value business travelers" are exempt from UK Covid quarantine rules. In case you were wondering, no, you are not a high-value business traveler.

In the United States, the powerful and connected only pretend to feel badly when they are caught sneaking around doing things the little people are not permitted to do.

In the UK, they have the common decency to just say it out loud.

Some people are just more important than you.

Who is exempt?

"Individuals undertaking specific business activity which would deliver a significant benefit to the UK economy – including activity that creates or preserves 50+ UK jobs – will no longer need to self-isolate when travelling or returning from non-exempt countries."

"Creates or preserves" 50+ UK jobs"

I could see this being handy.

Border Agent: I'm afraid you'll have to quarantine.

CFO: If I have to quarantine I'll fire 50 people.

Border Agent: In that case you're exempt.

There are other exceptions as well that should not at all make you furious.

"Exemptions will also come into force at the same time for domestic and international performing arts professionals, TV production staff, journalists and recently signed elite sportspersons, ensuring that industries which require specific, high-talent individuals who rely on international connections can continue to complete their work."

These all make perfect sense, of course. Performing arts professionals and TV production are absolutely essential to the maintenance of life itself.

Humor

Patrick Basham explains why Biden victory 'not statistically impossible, but ... statistically implausible'

Another anomaly of the 2020 election, Basham told Levin, is the fact that Trump performed better in many key voting metrics than he did four years earlier.

"If you look at the results, you see how Donald Trump improved his national performance over 2016 by almost 20%," he said. "No incumbent president has ever lost a reelection bid if he's increased his votes [total]. Obama went down by three and a half million votes between 2008 and 2012, but still won comfortably.

"If you look at those results, you see that Donald Trump did very well, even better than four years earlier, with the white working class. He held his own with women and suburban voters against all of most of the polling expectations, did very well with Catholics, improved his vote among Jewish voters," continued Basham, who detailed his incredulity in an article published in the American edition of the Spectator. "He had the best minority performance for a Republican since Richard Nixon in 1960, doing so well with African-Americans, and importantly with Hispanics."

In fact, Basham suggested, Trump's performance was so impressive that if anyone asked 100 observers "who were sequestered for the actual election night" and had been given "the vote breakdown by demographic group" who they thought won the election, "99, at least out of those 100 independent, well-informed observers would say, well, obviously, Trump."

To believe that Biden won you have to believe that he did much better than expected in the few cities in key states that gave him the election AND NOWHERE ELSE.
