The "Fine People" Hoax and how the media lied.

Tuesday, August 03, 2021

You’re struggling to understand why some people are vaccine hesitant. The “let me help you” megathread:

Imagine you’re a normal person. The year is 2016. Rightly or wrongly, you believe most of what you see in the media.

You believe polls are broadly reflective of public opinion. You believe doctors and scientists are trustworthy and independent. You’re a decent, reasonable person who follows the rules and trusts authority.

Imagine your shock then, when Brexit, which you were assured won’t happen because it’s a fringe movement led by racists for racists, happens. The polls, which widely predicted it wouldn’t happen were completely wrong.

The experts and media pundits who told you it wouldn’t happen day after day are also wrong. “Oh well” you say, “these things happen”.

Imagine that soon after Donald Trump is running for President. You are told by your favourite media publications that he is going to lose.

Some experts say his opponent has a 99% chance of winning.

Imagine waking up on the morning after the election to discover that pollsters, media experts and politicians you still trusted were wrong again.

The man who predicted 49 out of 50 states in 2012 has said who will win on Tuesday

Yet Another Media Tale -- Trump Tear-Gassed Protesters For a Church Photo Op -- Collapses

Shithole Press Lied Again

For more than a year, it has been consecrated media fact that former President Donald Trump and his White House, on June 1 of last year, directed the U.S. Park Police to use tear gas against peaceful Lafayette Park protesters, all to enable a Trump photo-op in front of St. John's Church. That this happened was never presented as a possibility or likelihood but as indisputable truth. And it provoked weeks of unmitigated media outrage, presented as one of the most egregious assaults on the democratic order in decades.

This tale was so pervasive in the media landscape that it would be impossible for any one article to compile all the examples. “Peaceful Protesters Tear-Gassed To Clear Way For Trump Church Photo-Op,” read the NPR headline on June 1. The New York Times ran with: “Protesters Dispersed With Tear Gas So Trump Could Pose at Church.” CNN devoted multiple segments to venting indignation while the on-screen graphic declared: “Peaceful Protesters Near White House Tear-Gassed, Shot With Rubber Bullets So Trump Can Have Church Photo Op.”

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos “reported” that “the administration asked police to clear peaceful protesters from the park across the White House so that the President could stage a photo op.” The Intercept published an article stating that “federal police used tear gas and rubber bullets to clear protesters from Lafayette Square in front of the White House,” all to feature a video where the first interviewee said: “to me, the way our military and police have behaved toward the protesters at the instruction of President Trump has almost been Nazi-like.”Nazi-like. This was repeated by virtually every major corporate outlet:

All of this came crashing down on their heads on Wednesday afternoon.

The IG's conclusion could not be clearer: the media narrative was false from start to finish. Namely, he said, “the evidence did not support a finding that the [U.S. Park Police] cleared the park on June 1, 2020, so that then President Trump could enter the park.” Instead — exactly as Hemingway's widely-mocked-by-liberal-outlets article reported — “the evidence we reviewed showed that the USPP cleared the park to allow a contractor to safely install anti-scale fencing in response to destruction of Federal property and injury to officers that occurred on May 30 and May 31.” Crucially, “the evidence established that relevant USPP officials had made those decisions and had begun implementing the operational plan several hours before they knew of a potential Presidential visit to the park, which occurred later that day."

As Pandemic Exploded, Wuhan's Bat Lady Asked Scientists to Change the Name Of The Virus Because It May Offend China

Dear Ralph,

We heard that the 2019-nCoV was renamed as SARS-CoV-2. We had a fierce discussion among Chinese virologists. We have some comments on this name, I’m wondering if the CoV study group would consider a revision.

I attached the comments from me na dmy Chinese colleague.

“By 11 February 2020, the new coronavirus had caused more than 40,000 confirmed infections and more than 1,000 deaths, mostly in mainland China, in spite of efforts by the Chinese Government and its people to contain the spread of the virus in past weeks. It goes without saying that the effects of the epidemic on all aspects of Chinese life are devastating and, possibly, irreversible. Consequently, appropriately naming the virus and disease becomes a matter of importance to the Chinese people…”

“All proposed names are either too generic, or too similar to previous well-known viruses, or contain an Arabic number. This makes it hard to remember or recognize, leading to a tendency among the general population and scientists alike to use a shorthand term such as ‘Wuhan coronavirus’ or ‘Wuhan pneumonia.’ This has, in fact, been the case since it was named 2019-nCoV. This practice would, however, stigmatize and insult the people in Wuhan, who are still suffering from the outbreak.”

And the Bought-and-paid-for American press dutifully complied.  They viciously attacked President Trump for calling it the China Virus, a term they had been freely using up until the time that their Chinese masters told them to stop.

In defense of the Bat Lady, she's living in a Communist dictatorship and does what she's told.  What's the excuse of the American press?:

Suddenly, Democrats are offended by Nazi analogies

If challenging the legitimacy of an election is tantamount to fascistic disinformation, Democrats have been running the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda for the past five years.

Let’s face it: Greene is a rank amateur at playing the Nazi card. We have been drowning in reductio ad Hitlerum.

“Donald Trump increasingly compared to Adolf Hitler,” explained a CBS News piece that treated Trump’s asking attendees at a rally to raise their hands and pledge to vote as if it were Nuremberg. “Is it wrong to compare Trump to Hitler?” asked a Philadelphia Inquirer columnist this past January. The answer: “No.”

GOP leaders condemn Marjorie Taylor Greene for likening mask rules to Holocaust

“Don’t compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It belittles Hitler,” noted a Washington Post op-ed. “I’m beginning to see what happened in Germany,” said four-time Godwin’s law champion Jim Clyburn. Jerry Nadler is no slouch on the matter, either.

There are endless iterations of this theme. I could do this all day.

How the Media Lied About the Origin of the Wuhan Virus to Hurt Trump

This is a great thread by Drew Holden about the Media lying about the Wuhan virus escaping from the Wuhan Virology Lab because they hated Trump and anything that came from the Trump administration had to be attacked.

It's also a great example of why the Media is both distrusted and hated by people who have the ability to think for themselves.  Imagine believing that a deadly virus coming from Wuhan, finding out that Wuhan is the home of a lab that experiments on ways of making viruses deadly, and then insisting that the lab - the same lab that works with deadly viruses  - could not be the source of the virus killing millions throughout the world could not possibly be the source.  That it's a "conspiracy theory."

Read the whole thing. Some excerpts:

Do we know for certain how the pandemic started? No, and it isn’t clear that we ever will. I tried to give a lot of leeway on this one given that.

But as you can see, the narrative was strong, the dismissal of other ideas was near-religious, and now it’s as if it never happened.

Events like this do infinitely more to undermine America’s faith in experts and the media than anything Trump could ever do or say. And it’s all both self-inflected and avoidable.

But too many people can’t seem to help themselves. And whole industries suffer as a result.

And, from a Drew Holden tweet from April 21, 2020: I have a sneaking suspicion some people are gonna look real silly for writing off the idea that coronavirus could‘ve come from a high-tech virology lab, run by a secretive autocratic regime, overseen by a bat expert studying coronaviruses, in the city where cases first appeared. twitter.com/MiriamElder/st…

The Washington Post’s Lies: Editorial board stands up for democracy dying in darkness.

The Washington Post accuses President Trump of lying and fomenting violence.

 Let’s be clear. It isn’t the president who is “lying about the election.” It’s the Washington Post and its left-wing media pals.  [and who's fomenting hate and violence?}

Where in the world would people like that get such hatred of Donald Trump?

Perhaps from reading articles like this one in August 2015 in … the Washington Post? Donald Trump: Spokesman for birthers, truthers, and Internet trolls

Or this one in February 2016:Donald Trump’s intolerable cruelty

Or this one in February 2016: Walking in David Duke’s shadow: Trump treads a well-worn path of bigotry

Or this one in May 2016: This is how fascism comes to America

Or this in July 2016: Donald Trump is a unique threat to American democracy

Or this in August 2016: Donald Trump makes his most dangerous comments yet

Or this in September 2016: Don’t compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It belittles Hitler.

Or this in October 2016: How much damage could a President Trump do? We can only begin to imagine.

And on January 20, 2017? At 12:27 p.m., a mere 27 minutes after Trump took the oath of office, there was this from the Post: The campaign to impeach President Trump has begun

And there are more — oh so many, many more pieces like this that have been vomited forth by the Washington Post. Depicting candidate Trump and President Trump as a bigot, Hitler, a fascist, dangerous, and a threat to democracy. He is the president they demanded be impeached — 27 minutes after he was sworn in....

Let’s be crystal clear. There is no place for violence in the American election process.

But the realization that to the degree that it may appear it is because the Washington Post and others in the liberal media have devoted five years to vilifying a good and decent man — and his supporters — while they themselves repeatedly — and dangerously — undermined democracy.

The Post’s motto is “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

But the paper has absolutely no problem with demanding Americans accept the death of democracy that is the obvious result when elections appear to be stolen.

Like this one.

Giuliani Highlights Vote Fraud as Well as Corporate Media Corruption in Fiery Press Conference

Sarah Hoyt at Instapundit:

I DON’T WANT TO READ ANOTHER ANALYSIS OF “WHY TRUMP LOST” BECAUSE HONESTLY? ALL INDICATIONS ARE TRUMP NOT ONLY DIDN’T LOSE. HE OUTSTRIPPED THE WIN THAT THE DEMS COUNTED ON SO MUCH THEY HAD TO BE BLATANT IN THEIR FRAUD:

And the reason I don’t want to hear it is because this is not remotely about Trump anymore. This is about us, and our right to representation. This is about a Republic if we can keep it. So stop rolling over, because rolling over is going to get you under the boot of the global oligarchy. You’re Americans. Remember that. Stand on two.

This is no time to be “reasonable.” Mr. Reasonable has left the room. And he’s taken Ms. Conciliatory with him.

The core of the stolen election was vote switching in the Dominion voting machines and Smartmatic software.

Press Now Plumbs Its Own Depths Of Depravity

There has never been a presidential campaign in the United States where the administration was so massively opposed by the principal press outlets as in this election. Nor, in at least a century, have the national political media so widely and thoroughly discarded the traditional criterion for journalistic professionalism: the clear division between comment and reporting.

Many aspects of the Trump presidency are unprecedented; he is the first president never to have sought or held a public office, elected or unelected, or a high military command; and this is the first presidency, at least in living memory, in which almost the entire national political press have completely and constantly misreported the president’s public remarks and policies.

The former newspaper of record, the New York Times, has been commendably forthright in declaring that it was opposing rather than just reporting on the Trump administration. Mr. Trump delivered the greatest speech of his career on Friday evening at Mount Rushmore, devoted altogether to celebrating the idealism of the American Revolution, the suppression of the Confederate insurrection in the Civil War and the abolition of slavery, and the enactment — albeit tardily — of the Jeffersonian promise, renewed by Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, that all men are created equal. The Washington Post editorial board declared that he had reached “new depths of depravity.” This is an outrage worthy only of the press of a totalitarian country describing an opposition figure.

With few exceptions, the United States is now served by a national political media that is incapable of reporting about the president accurately, that baits him at press briefings with disgusting insolence, and that is extraordinarily negligent in ignoring or downplaying anything that reflects poorly on the president’s other enemies, the media’s allies in the war against the president.

The hideous permutation of the legitimate protests following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25 — protests the president endorsed — into widespread arson, pillage, vandalism, and assault resulting in more than 20 deaths in many cities across the country was largely ignored or deemphasized by the media.

Dems and Media to Blame for Countless COVID-19 Deaths After Anti-Hydroxychloroquine Hysteria

The media hate President Trump so much they caused people to die because he recommended a treatment that cut the death rate in half.
Last week, a new peer-reviewed study of hydroxychloroquine’s effectiveness at treating the coronavirus was published, and it found that the drug significantly reduced mortality rates.

And by significantly, I mean it literally cut the mortality rate by more than half.

The study also determined that despite previous reports, there were no adverse effects on the heart....

How many lives were lost because the Democrats and the media claimed that taking hydroxychloroquine would kill you? In May, Dr. John Giles of Columbia University told NPR that fears about hydroxychloroquine made it difficult to recruit volunteers for clinical studies. “Pretty much everybody said, ‘well, that’s the drug that is dangerous to your heart,’ or ‘I talked to friends and they said don’t take it,’ or ‘I saw it on TV that it was dangerous,'” Giles explained. “It became almost impossible to get anyone interested.”

But Giles knew these fears were unfounded. “It’s a very, very safe drug. It’s been used for over 75 years,” he said.

Despite the drug being safe, Giles eventually gave up on doing his study.

He wasn’t alone. Dr. Christine Johnston at the University of Washington told NPR that volunteers felt “that the study and the drugs feel too political, and they just don’t want to participate at all.”

And all this time, hydroxychloroquine has been shown to cut the death rate of the coronavirus in half.

Coronavirus panic makes no sense so I’ve got a few theories

There are a number of reasons, but most of the blame can be placed at the foot of the Shithole Press.

8. This is the only time in my life history that the media has reported every single hospital death anywhere in the world. Keep in mind that death is both normal and inevitable despite the fact that, in the modern world, we’ve managed to stave it off until late in life, not to mention hiding deaths away in the hospital. The reality is that a ton of people die every die around the world and here in America.

According to the world death clock, 56,000,000 people die every year around the world. That’s about 4,666,666 per month. That means that, in an average year, we should expect 13,999,998 deaths around the world by the end of March. Can you imagine if the media reported every death in breathless tones, along with buckets of blame?

Which is connected to:

10. The American media want to hurt Donald Trump. It is therefore in the media’s interest to make this experience as bad as it can possibly be. No matter what Trump does, he’s lambasted for having done the wrong thing or, if he did the correct thing, for having the wrong motives. Given how terribly wrong he is, every death is his fault and every penny’s damage to the economy is his fault too.

Most Americans Think Media Have Done A Terrible Job Covering Coronavirus

AND THEY'RE RIGHT!

Media Ethics and the Trump-Russia Leak Wars

The common thread in all this bad Trump-Russia journalism is easily discernible: The media has surrendered its ethical responsibilities in order to be a conduit for airing anonymous, often-unverified accusations of rival political factions. But only one faction: the one opposed to Trump.

The upshot is that any attentive newspaper reader has reason suspect an agenda lurks behind the anonymous sources that have come to dominate political coverage....

If there are any self-respecting reporters still left in Washington, they’ll tell you what’s going on isn’t reporting – it’s leaks all the way down.

The Inspector General’s Report on 2016 FBI Spying Reveals a Scandal of Historic Magnitude: Not Only for the FBI but Also the U.S. Media

Just as was true when the Mueller investigation closed without a single American being charged with criminally conspiring with Russia over the 2016 election, Wednesday’s issuance of the long-waited report from the Department of Justice’s Inspector General reveals that years of major claims and narratives from the U.S. media were utter frauds.

Before evaluating the media component of this scandal, the FBI’s gross abuse of its power – its serial deceit – is so grave and manifest that it requires little effort to demonstrate it. In sum, the IG Report documents multiple instances in which the FBI – in order to convince a FISA court to allow it spy on former Trump campaign operative Carter Page during the 2016 election – manipulated documents, concealed crucial exonerating evidence, and touted what it knew were unreliable if not outright false claims.

If you don’t consider FBI lying, concealment of evidence, and manipulation of documents in order to spy on a U.S. citizen in the middle of a presidential campaign to be a major scandal, what is? But none of this is aberrational: the FBI still has its headquarters in a building named after J. Edgar Hoover – who constantly blackmailed elected officials with dossiers and tried to blackmail Martin Luther King into killing himself – because that’s what these security state agencies are. They are out-of-control, virtually unlimited police state factions that lie, abuse their spying and law enforcement powers, and subvert democracy and civic and political freedoms as a matter of course.

In this case, no rational person should allow standard partisan bickering to distort or hide this severe FBI corruption. The IG Report leaves no doubt about it. It’s brimming with proof of FBI subterfuge and deceit, all in service of persuading a FISA court of something that was not true: that U.S. citizen and former Trump campaign official Carter Page was an agent of the Russian government and therefore needed to have his communications surveilled.

Ukraine President Zelensky Says (Again) There Was No Quid Pro Quo

Who are you gonna believe, the guy on the other end of the call or the Slimeball Media and the corrupt Democrats?

Once again, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied again that President Trump withheld military aid in order to pressure him to investigate the Bidens or Ukrainian election interference.

Trump Backers Aren't a Cult…But We Are the Outsiders

The message here is clear on two fronts. First, in this present media landscape, a cult could roughly be defined as groupings of people despicable enough to hold views contrary to those of New York newsrooms and Ivy League faculty lounges. The second message also seems self-evident. Rather than debate policy, disparagement becomes the default narrative of the president’s detractors. This new “cult” criticism seems to flow directly from the inability, so far, of the Democrats to damage the president in the impeachment imbroglio.

The smear machine at work. Never forget that they hate you.

Don Surber: "How the media blew the Syria story"

This morning at 8, BBC posted a story, "Turkey's Erdogan 'threw Trump's Syria letter in bin.'" It was Fake News.

This afternoon at 2, President Donald John Trump announced Erdogan agreed to a cease-fire along the Syrian border.

Once again, the press got the story all wrong. President Trump knew what he was doing and succeeded where his predecessors had failed. He removed American troops in order to bring peace to a section of the Middle East. He used tariffs, not soldiers, to force the issue.

The Washington press corps covering President Trump is incompetent and corrupt as it violates the public trust by deliberately trying to sabotage the man the American people elected president.

President Trump's mediation of the Kurd-Turk dispute is award-worthy. The press blew the story by attacking our president. Amid all the false reports of coming calamity and impending genocide, I advised readers to Trust Trump. He earned it.

And of course I was right because getting President Trump right is the easiest thing in the world to do. Just accept that he is better informed than the press, and he knows what he is doing.

But the media is a bunch of garbage peddlers. You have your garbage collectors who help keep America clean and safe, and then you have your garbage producers at CNN and the like.

The fog of war expelled by the American media was a historic embarrassment to anyone who is now or has ever been a member of the Fourth Estate. Obamanauts -- including generals -- were allowed to say whatever they wanted to try to undermine President Trump's peace efforts without bothering (in most cases) to allow the Trump administration to respond.

Crazy talk of genocide filled the cable airwaves.

ABC was caught using training footage from Kentucky to depict a non-existent "Slaughter in Syria."

Has it issued an on-air apology or correction yet?

Now that a deal has been cut, I expect the media to take potshots at it before dropping the subject entirely. Once again, President Trump has achieved the impossible and the media will deny him credit because they did everything they could to prevent peace from breaking out.

Read the whole thing.
