Is There Anything That Obama Can't Do?

Linking to a post by Instapundit, Kate at Small Dead Animals asks:
For all his promises, Obama’s green plans have utterly failed. The question is: Why isn’t anyone talking about this?”
And answers:
Well, we are. And the track record suggests that politicians ignore blog chatter at their peril.
Very true. At one time, not so very long ago, politicians could ignore stories that were not widely covered by the NT Times or the alphabet networks. No longer, because these media dinosaurs are now being pushed to cover those things that they would gladly have hidden from the public before most people started getting the news from websites.

Within a few days George Zimmerman morphed from a “white Hispanic” who hunted down a small, angelic black boy who liked candy, called him a racial slur and executed him for walking while black … into a guy who was bloodied and banged up after being punched by Trayvon Martin and shot to defend himself as his head was being pounded into the pavement.

Would this transformation have taken place without the Internet? Not a chance. “The Narrative” was too good. The media had another “Bonfire of the Vanities” and were not about to let go if not for the truth being told by bloggers.

The Bigfoot of them all, the NY Times reacts with CYA Pieces on the news pages and letting its columnists carry on the narrative, pandering to the racists on the Left. But the narrative has such hold on the mass media that even Fox News gives Trayvon Martin a new first name: “unarmed” as in Unarmed Trayvon Martin. Every time.

The Racism of Brent Staples

Bernard Goldberg takes the racism of Brent Staples and shoves it back in his face.

The op-ed was by the Times’ own Brent Staples, a black man who sees the world through a prism of race. The headline over the piece read: “Young, Black Male, And Stalked by Bias.” Here’s how it began: “The door to the subway train slides open, revealing three tall, young black men, crowding the entrance, with hooded sweatshirts pulled up over downward-turned faces; boxer shorts billowing out of over-large, low-slung jeans; and sneakers with the laces untied. “Your response to the look – and to this trio on the subway – depends in part on the context, like the time of day, but especially how you feel young, male blackness.” Actually, that’s not true. My response to the look doesn’t depend on how I feel about black teenagers. It depends on how I feel about anybody who looks like a thug.
By the way, know why some young black men (and some not so young) wear baggy panst with their underwear hanging out?
Does Staples understand that wearing your pants with your underwear showing is how black kids pay homage to black criminals? In prison you’re not allowed to wear a belt. That’s why their pants are falling down and their underwear is showing.
And, by the way, the unlaced shoes? Because the perps in prison are not allowed shoelaces; too easy to make a garrot and kill someone. Meeting a bunch of aspiring gang-bangers is not one of life's guilty pleasures.

AP: Zimmerman has too many rights

Via Don Surber
Through its news analysis by Curt Anderson, management and editors at the Associated Press apparently believe George Zimmerman has too many rights to defend himself in court. The editors at the nation’s largest news organization are befuddled by the notion that prosecutors actually have to prove that Zimmerman did not kill Trayvon Martin in self-defense, rather than merely accept Al Sharpton’s version of the story. The analysis began:

MIAMI (AP) — George Zimmerman persuaded the police not to charge him for killing unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, but the prosecutor has accused him of murder. Soon, armed with unparalleled legal advantages, Zimmerman will get to ask a judge to find the killing was justified, and if that doesn’t work, he’ll get to make the same case to a jury.

Unparalleled? Throughout the English-speaking world, a person charged with a crime can ask a judge to dismiss the charges and if that fails, be tried before a jury of his peers. The only aspect of this case that is different from others is that if acquitted, Zimmerman would be immune from civil damages. And the Associated Press listed Curt Anderson as “AP Legal Affairs Writer”? Maybe he is a graduate of the Barack Obama School of Constitutional Law.

Obama Vacations at Tax Payers Expense

Cheney: Obama "Has Been An Unmitigated Disaster To The Country"

Speaking truth to power.
"I can't think of a time when I felt it was more important for us to defeat an incumbent president today with respect to Barack Obama. I think he has been an unmitigated disaster to the country,"

Why isn't anyone talking about the failure of Obama's 'Green Economy?'

Obama's promises on green energy in 2008 made him sound modern, forward looking, even cool. But the truth was there for anyone who cared to see it; most of his program - including the $90 billion for green energy in the stim bill - was unrealistic and deceptive. It's not clear that all that money added a significant amount of renewable electrical generation to the national grid that wouldn't have been built in the first place, and plenty of evidence that much of it was misdirected (Solyndra and many other loan recipients as well as money for job training gone to waste). For all his promises, Obama's green plans have utterly failed. The question is: Why isn't anyone talking about this?
The question answers itself.

Take Me, Obama

At Harvard, professor Charles Ogletree will teach “Understanding Obama.”

per small dead animals, the course will
...focus on the way in which race, religion, and politics have impacted the development of President Obama as a leader,” the Harvard Law School Course Catalog explains. “We will explore his views as a biracial child, his time as a student at Harvard Law School, the successes and failures of his political campaigns, and the way religion and his views on faith nearly derailed his campaign.

Democrat staffer 'paid to keep quiet after being sexually harassed by party official'

It's part of the Democrat's War on Women.  (Oops, it's their "War on Men")

It's curious that this article appears in a British newspaper.
'If this hits the media, the Democratic Party, our candidates, and our credibility are doomed in this election,' reads one email exchange.
Don't worry, the American MSM won't touch this if they got an engraved invitation. Remember how they covered for John Edwards when he was cheating on his cancer stricken wife?

“A government that is subordinate to no one”

Daniel Henninger refers to the nuclear strike that Obama and his acolytes launched against Paul Ryan recently. It is the Left’s strategy to destroy anyone who veers from Liberal theology.
“With the presidential battle begun, the Obama campaign has revived the Cold War nuclear strategy of launch on warning. At any suggestion that a conservative idea might be threatening its ideological fortress, the American left now launches ICBMs of rhetorical destruction.
So it was after the Supreme Court's hearings on the Obama Affordable Care Act, which put in jeopardy the federal command to buy health insurance. After the president green-flagged the assault, the Supreme Court's "legitimacy" was in play. The Roberts Court, wrote one blogger, is "on trial." “
For the Ryan budget:

“On current course, House GOP Budget Chairman Paul Ryan himself may exhaust their entire thermonuclear arsenal before November. Once again, the Campaigner in Chief threw the switch himself, calling the Ryan House budget "social Darwinism," "a Trojan horse" and "antithetical to our entire history."
Obama has a virtually unlimited arsenal. If he runs out, he can depend on the Lamestream Media to drop rhetorical bombs for him.

That’s because any limit to government’s power, except in the case of kinky sex, is anathema to the Left. Conservatives are not merely wrong, they are heretics that need to be eradicated, their books burned, their homes destroyed that the ground sown with salt.

To Liberals, the Commerce clause in the constitution lets government do anything because there is nothing, literally nothing that anyone can do that does not, given enough Rube Goldberg links, affect commerce. Breathe and you affect commerce because you are alive and consume stuff. Stop breathing and you affect commerce because you require disposal. Shave your face, flush the toilet, have a cup of coffee, drive to work, walk to work, stay home and sit on the couch and they all affect commerce. To the Left commerce is the blank check that they can use to do anything that they desire.

In stark contrast, Ryan believes:
"To me, the principle of subsidiarity . . . meaning government closest to the people governs best . . . where we, through our civic organizations, through our churches, through our charities, through all of our different groups where we interact with people as a community, that's how we advance the common good. By not having big government crowd out civic society, but by having enough space in our communities so that we can interact with each other, and take care of people who are down and out in our communities.
"Those principles are very, very important, and the preferential option for the poor, which is one of the primary tenets of Catholic social teaching, means don't keep people poor, don't make people dependent on government so that they stay stuck at their station in life. Help people get out of poverty out onto a life of independence."
This election is critically important because it is the first time since the mid-20th Century that America has a vote on – in Henninger’s words – “… establishing a government in the U.S. that is subordinate to no one.”

In Praise of Chumps

Richard Fernandez points out that Communist dictatorships have an eerie resemblance to heredity kingdoms where the rulers live life of splendor, where their children or inherit the throne and their relatives “make the current European royalty look like a bunch of low-rent grifters.”

How can Liberals in the West delude themselves into believing that these regimes promote equality?
... intellectuals like Cornell West, Van Jones and Bill Ayers can go around and seriously sell socialism and Marxism in the name of “equality” and “egalitarianism”. You know, because they are one with the Common Man. Their superior educations must provide a true insight into the nature of Marxist societies because to uninitiated the whole thing looks like a scam to trick people into waging “revolution”, in which a few odd million will be horribly killed, to create a worker’s paradise and Green society. Except all the resulting outcomes we actually examine reveal only societies ruled by an aristocracy no different from, nay more lavish than the Court of the Sun King’s at Versailles. Versailles didn’t even have indoor plumbing.
If they are not lying, hoping to lead the next American Revolution and end up on top, they are simply chumps.

Eric Holder praises race baiter.

Attorney General Eric Holder praised left-wing activist Rev. Al Sharpton at the opening of the National Action Network (NAN) convention on Wednesday
Al Sharpton, best known for the Tawana Brawley hoax, for provoking arson at Freddy’s Fashion Mart that killed seven people and the race riot in New York that killed Yankel Rosenbaum, is praised by Eric Holder.
Holder and Sharpton
This really should not be a surprise, but it does cement Holder's reputation as a racist.  Holder is Al Sharpton's wing man.

President Obama tries to get one guy a job, and fails

No sooner had the absolutely horrifying unemployment report for March been released than we received an update on the status of engineer Darin Wedel, who became one of America’s most famous job seekers two months ago.

At that time, Wedel’s wife Jennifer found herself in one of President Obama’s gimmicky “online chat” events, and asked the President why the government is passing out so many visas for foreign workers when large numbers of Americans with excellent job skills are unemployed. Darin Wedel was a semiconductor engineer at Texas Instruments, but lost his job three years ago.
Obama could not understand why Wedel could not find a job and asked his wife to send his resume to the White House. Which she did.

And as for Darin Wedel, well, he still doesn’t have a job. The brief flurry of interest artificially created when the White House stepped in and decreed that job offers should rain down upon one house in Texas has subsided, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

More than two months after President Barack Obama asked for Darin Wedel's résumé, the phone is quiet, e-mails are no longer flooding in and the long-sought-after job interviews -- which had begun to be scheduled -- have petered out.

"Not even recruiting companies are calling anymore," said Jennifer Wedel, the Fort Worth mother of two who chatted online this year with Obama about her out-of-work husband.
Shucks.
