Obama Stiffs Restaurant on Lunch the Day After He Accuses GOP of Sticking Him With Steak Dinner

Amid the bustle of President Obama’s surprise stop for barbecue Wednesday the White House apparently overlooked one key detail: the bill.
Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.
As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.
The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.

It’s kind of like going to a resturant and ordering steak, martini’s and walking out…”

Obama fights the cancer of economic growth

It all begins to make sense if you view economic growth as a cancer.

Some cry 'coup' as Egypt's highest court annuls parliament, military extends power

What?   Did you expect something different?  It now remains to be seen if the Islamists are tougher than the army.

The economy would be in full recovery mode if Obama had just left things alone.

Economies recover.  Our economy has had recessions, depressions and panics over the life of the country.  It has survived a revolution, civil war and two world wars and come back stronger than ever.  But we have always had leaders that believed in freedom, free enterprise and allowing people to figure out for themselves how to get out of the hole they are in.  Past leaders have been supportive of private enterprise.

This president is different. Edward P. Lazear uses a baseball analogy of the way that the Obama administration is explaining its failure.

Picture this scenario in baseball: Pitcher Smith replaces a starting pitcher in the fourth inning, when his team is down by three runs. The team scores two runs in the next inning, almost tying the score. But in the sixth inning, Smith gives up five runs, putting his team hopelessly behind. After the loss, Smith tells reporters that he did not pitch well in the sixth inning because the team was behind before he entered the game in the fourth.
Claiming that the U.S. economy has slowed during the past couple of years because it was in poor shape when a new president took office in January 2009 makes no more sense than Smith's explanation of his disastrous sixth inning. Just as poor pitching by Smith doomed the home team, ineffective and counterproductive policies of the past three years have put us back on the brink of recession.

The economy began its recovered as predicted in 2009, but then something happened.

Starting in July 2010, the economy slowed and we sank to rates that are below our 30-year average of 3.1% and are too low to propel a proper recovery. Worse, during the most recent five quarters, the growth rate has averaged a dismal 1.6%.
Like the pitcher who has a terrible inning after his team starts to make a comeback, our economy has taken a new turn downward that began in summer 2010. Job growth has stalled. Each month of the last four has seen jobs added at rates that are lower than those in the preceding month. One or two months of data are never enough to conclude that something is wrong, but we are now seeing a trend. Despite President Obama's recent comment (later retracted) that "the private sector is doing fine," there is plenty of slowdown in the private sector.  …
The logical conclusion is that what has happened since 2010 is a result of more recent policies, not ancient ones. In recent years, the strategy has been to emphasize short-run gimmicks and social goals rather than policies that could have produced economic growth and jobs. That strategy has been augmented by negative signals—such as blaming the rich and threatening new taxes and regulation—for investors and job creators.

The fact is that while Obama inherited a recession when he took office in early 2009, he has aborted the recovery with policies almost willfully designed to send the economy into another recession.  Whether from ignorance or design, this is the Obama economy and the Obama recession.  We can’t afford another four years of this.

Fast & Furious

How embarrassing for the Martin Luther King Senior Citizens Club that they accidentally judged someone by the content of his character.

James Taranto in the Wall Street Journal's "Best of the Web"

A hush, followed by some giggles, enveloped the Martin Luther King High School gym in Riverside, Calif., when it was announced on senior awards night that Warren was the winner of the scholarship. . . .
The $1,000 scholarship, one of two awarded annually by the seniors club, is meant for African-American students. Club members didn't know Warren is white until he rose to receive the award. . . .
After some contemplation, Warren and his parents decided to return the scholarship. They sent an email the next day informing the MLK senior citizens club of the decision.

Buzzfeed's Ben Smith Continues to Campaing for Obama

Buzzfeed's Ben Smith now concedes that Barack Obama sought the socialist New Party's endorsement in 1996--but continues to give Obama, and the New Party, the benefit of the doubt on whether Obama was in fact a member. While admitting the Obama campaign misled the press and the public about the New Party, Smith continues to let the campaign get away without comment--when, in fact, David Axelrod responded yesterday.
Check out his column yourself, where Smith says
Kurtz's theory, which doesn't really match my recollection of the politics, is that this would have been the straw to break the camel's back
It’s obvious that he wants Obama’s narrative to be true, and gives ground grudgingly, step by step, as each new revelation shows that Team Obama was lying about Obama’s membership and support of the radical leftist, ACORN controlled, New Party.

A founder of the New Party, Joel Rogers claims that the party did not have members, so Obama could not have been a member. That turns out to be a lie.
UPDATE: Kurtz has quite a bit more detail on what sure sounds like a membership program, though it's not entirely clear what membership required or entailed.
Note that Smith continues to make excuses with questions about what membership really entailed. He gets and answer.
UPDATE: Richmond sends over a New Party page from 1997 that makes pretty clear that they saw themselves at the time as having members: The New Party is run by dues-paying members, who are organized into chapters. The national organization provides support for chapter growth and coordination. Every member gets one vote.
There he lets it lie. People like Smith, who want Obama to win will not admit to being lied to; will not admit to being duped. That much introspection would destroy their self image.
