Predator Drone Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize
OSLO, NORWAY — The General Atomics MQ-1 Predator unmanned drone was nominated Monday for the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize for its unrelenting pursuit of peace and tranquility in under-governed spaces around the globe, the Nobel Foundation announced.“The prize is awarded annually to recipients who have displayed an abiding commitment to ridding the world of conflict,” according to Nils Droppenhammer of the Nobel Foundation. “The Predator has shown an unwavering dedication to seeking out and eliminating sources of badness everywhere, but particularly in fragile states where its impact is felt more intimately.”Between 2004 and 2013, The Predator single-handedly reduced the number of opponents to world peace by no less than 1,533, with some estimates putting the number as high as 2,500. Conducting hundreds of missions daily, the remotely piloted drone and its peace-seeking missiles are capable of bringing instant tranquility to multiple villages and/or pickup trucks simultaneously.
NPR does it again. Why coverage of 'right-wing' violence irritates conservatives
NPR was ready to make the Boston Marathon bombing a right wing plot.
And to the NPR types, right-wing includes anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders (a frequent NPR guest) who, although an avowed Socialist who votes with the Democrats, is described by NPR as an independent.
Read the whole thing.
It's not just NPR but all the rest of the Democrat/Liberal hive. Listen to NPR and the term "right wing" is invariably used to describe something of which they disapprove. I would like someone to do a search of NPR and find the term "left wing" to describe something of which they disapprove.Earlier this week, NPR’s counterterrorism correspondent Dina Temple-Raston drew justifiable outrage from conservatives for engaging in the following on air speculation about the Boston Marathon bombing:The thinking, as we’ve been reporting, is that this is a domestic or extremist attack. Again, this is not because – this has got to be this because officials can’t get away from this idea of timing. April is a big month for anti-government, right-wing folks. There’s the Columbine anniversary. There’s Hitler’s birthday. There’s the Oklahoma City bombing. There’s the assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco. And these are all rallying points for these kinds of extremist groups.
And to the NPR types, right-wing includes anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders (a frequent NPR guest) who, although an avowed Socialist who votes with the Democrats, is described by NPR as an independent.

Where do violent Leftists go?
Conor Friedersdorf is upset that "Right Wing Terrorists" don't get tortured. I think he mistakes Tim McVeigh for a right winger. Under Friedersdorf's definition Stalin, Lenin (see 1907 Tiflis bank robbery) and the rest of the gang that brought down the Russian government would also be a "right wingers."
In the US, bombers who are not Left Wing get sent to prison or exectured.
On the other hand Bill Ayres, Bernadette Dorn, and Kathy Boudin, all unrepentant Leftist murderers or attempted murderers, are media darlings and hired by the Left wing academic ‘elite’.

Dear MSM: Shut up!
I ran across a comment yesterday that set my teeth on edge. Politico’s Dylan Byers was saying that he was anxious to identify the people who bombed the Boston marathon so that the “National Conversation” on the subject could begin.
When I hear the MSM mention the term national conversation, I have an impulse to reach for a gun. The term is as big a lie as your boy/girl/??? friend telling you “we need to talk” or “it’s not you, it’s me.” A so-called “National Conversation” via the MSM is not a dialog; it’s the Left telling the rest of America what it’s doing wrong. It’s writers for publications, English Lit or J-school majors with drearily predictable views, lecturing the rest of us.
Let’s tell the truth for once: the mass media is not part of a conversation with the people, it’s a one way megaphone for the inhabitants of media-land. They were not having a conversation about violence when they were pimping for more gun laws. And when they were voted down in the Senate they, like Obama, threw a hissy fit.
If the American people are going to have a conversation about the bombers and what they mean, it’s going to be at home, at work, or via the Internet where genuine interaction can occur. In the meantime, the MSM can shut up about a national conversation and let a real one occur. I am confident that it will be much more rational, sane and less politically correct than any one-way lecture from the people who, by virtue of writing a column, feel this compulsion to tell us what to think

Boston Marathon bombers identified as Chechen Muslims
Chechnya is the Muslim area of the Caucasus that has been waging jihad against the Russians since the 19th century.

The suspects and police exchanged gunfire, and one of the suspects was critically injured and later died at a hospital while the other escaped.

One Boston Marathon suspect killed; second suspect, his brother, on loose after firefight
Developing fast as they say in the news business. (H/T Instapundit)With a bomb strapped to his chest, one of the Boston Marathon suspects was killed early Friday after he and his accomplice robbed a 7-Eleven, shot a police officer to death, carjacked an SUV and hurled explosives out the window in an extraordinary firefight with law enforcement, authorities told NBC News. The second suspect — the one in the white hat in photos released by the FBI — was on the loose, and police ordered people in the Boston suburb of Watertown to stay in their homes and businesses not to open. Boston shut down its buses and subway system for the hunt. The suspects are brothers with the last name Tsarnaev, law enforcement officials told NBC News. The suspect on the loose is 19 and has a Massachusetts driver’s license, they said. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that both men had international ties, had been in the United States about a year and had military experience.
Where was Bill Ayers during the Boston Marathon?
This is the kind of thing that made him what he is today.
NYT: Can you believe Fox was talking about this fertilizer explosion instead of guns today?
In the NY Times' editorial judgement, Obama's rant in the Rose Garden is much, much more newsworthy than an explosion in Texas with 40 dead.

Killed in Boston? Now, that's different. The media here documents its own sick-making bias and arrogance but instead of understanding their own words -- we ignored the destruction of an entire town to focus only on the minor heartburn suffered by our Liberal Messiah -- they use it as a bludgeon for criticizing Fox.See, Fox did wrong by thinking the lives in West, Texas mattered.

Is the Boston Marathon the Left’s 9/11? Further thoughts.
I recall the Left’s response to 9/11. It started with a little drip, Joan Didion who denounced George Bush for rallying the country behind his ideas for responding to the attack. The chorus grew as the Liberal hive began its internal conversation until it was clear that the Left was rooting for America to lose the war in Iraq. Harry Reid is famous for his announcement that “This war is lost” before the American military with the support of George Bush won it. Despite winning the war, the power of the narrative is so powerful that today it is an article of faith on the Left that toppling Saddam Hussein was huge strategic blunder, and there are few on the Right who are willing to defend it, preferring instead to change the subject.
For much of the Left the attacks on 9/11 and its aftermath is another example of America acting badly. When Barack Obama’s spiritual advisor, Jeremiah Wright, famously intoned that the attack on 9/11 were “America’s chickens coming home to roost” the Left was nodding in the amen corner. For the Left, 9/11 had the wrong perpetrators (they continually pray for white guys), the right targets (Wall Street and the Pentagon) but most obviously the wrong President. The Boston Marathon bombing is their opportunity for a do-over. The desperately want it to be a white guy. The Boston Marathon is the kind of even that Liberals see as a reflection of themselves, so rather than an attack on evil capitalists and warmongers, this was an attack on THEM. And of course, the President is the "One We Have Been Waiting For."
Here's Rush Limbaugh on the desperate requirement that the bomber be white.
Mr. Sirota here at Salon magazine says that if the bombers in Boston turn out to be anything but white Americans, it'll set back the cause of liberalism. That is amnesty, and gut national security. From the article: "That means regardless of your particular party affiliation, if you care about everything from stopping war to reducing the defense budget to protecting civil liberties to passing immigration reform, you should hope the bomber was a white domestic terrorist.
Ron Fournier told us that the Boston Marathon bombing was really worse than 9/11 despite far fewer casualties ... because of the venue!
The thousands murdered on 9/11 were not so much people as symbols to Ron Fournier; symbols of a class that he does not view as the kind of people who run in the Boston Marathon.
I asked the question yesterday:
After 9/11 the Left asked “why do they hate us so?” Barack Obama's spiritual advisor, Jeremiah Wright, said that “America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” We’re not hearing words like these today. Why not?
The answer is that in Boston the people who were killed an maimed could have been them. On 9/11, not so much.

Is the Boston Marathon the Left’s 9/11?
Ron Fournier seems to be speaking for them when he says that the bombing at the Boston Marathon was worse than 9/11. Think about that for a moment. 9/11 saw 3000 people murdered. In Boston 3 people died and about 170 were injured. So why does Fournier think the Boston marathon bombing was worse? Because it disturbed our “pursuit of happiness.”
Here is Rush Limbaugh’s reaction:
His theory in this two-page piece is, it's scarier to kill people "pursuing happiness" such as running a marathon than killing Wall Street employees. It's all evil! Don't misunderstand, folks, it's all evil. But one group is Wall Street or the Pentagon, and the other was people, the marathon. "[T]he Boston attack is notable not for the number of deaths, but for its social significance. It's one thing --a dastardly, evil thing -- to strike symbols of economic and military power," Wall Street and the Pentagon."It’s another to hit the heart of America. Death at the finish line in Boston makes every place (and everybody) less secure. ... They targeted life. They targeted liberty. Now somebody has attacked pursuit of happiness." I guess the 9/11 attackers were not attacking the pursuit of happiness -- and the people that blew up the Pentagon, they were not attacking the pursuit of happiness. He actually says this. "It's one thing -- a dastardly, evil thing -- to strike symbols of economic and military power."That's 9/11, and the "symbols" are Wall Street and the Pentagon. Well... (interruption) No, no. No, they're not people. See, corporations are not people. The left tells us this. Corporations are not people. Wall Street's not people. The Pentagon's not people. They are symbols. But the Boston Marathon, the finish line at the Boston Marathon is the heart of America. It's scarier to kill people pursuing happiness in Boston than killing Wall Street employees or Pentagon employees.
So there you have it. The thousands murdered on 9/11 were abstractions, symbols, not real people. People running in the Boston Marathon, now there you have real flesh and blood people. It takes a certain kind of bloody mindedness to think like this. History is filled with people like Fournier; those who differentiated between people as symbols and people as individuals.
It makes it possible to then view Jews not as people, but as vermin that need extermination to cleanse the race. To view Kulaks as class symbols whose death would lead to the greater good of collectivization. The same with the millions who died during the Great Leap Forward under Mao.
After all, you can't make an omelet without breaking eggs.
After 9/11 the Left asked “why do they hate us so?” Barack Obama's spiritual advisor, Jeremiah Wright, said that “America’s chickens are coming home to roost.” We’re not hearing words like these today. Why not?
Because what happened in Boston on 4/15 was, in Ron Fournier's words, “worse?” Or because it would be inconceivable that a country governed by the Left – with President Lightbringer – can’t have enemies who cone to our country to set off bombs and kill our people? That's why the Left is desperately wishing, hoping, praying that the bombers are on the Right, preferably Tea Party patriots. As Stacy McCain says
By “a very important national conversation,” of course Dylan Byers means, another chance to turn a horrible tragedy into a political talking point.
