America 2023 Is Not Quite Germany 1930s... Yet

There is a troubling similarity in the way that Germany under Hitler was gradually transformed into the Nazi State and the evolution of similar totalitarian control is being implemented in the US and Canada.

 Any resemblance between America in 2023 and Germany in the 1930s is purely coincidental. Yet there are some worrisome resemblances.

As early as 1933, the formal exclusion of Jews was initiated with Chancellor Hitler’s declaration of a national boycott of Jewish businesses. The “Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service” prohibited “non-Aryans” from serving in the legal profession or civil service and from teaching in secondary schools and universities. On May 10, 1933, there was a nationwide book burning of “un-German” books, including those by Jewish authors.

Successful and prosperous Jews were in this way cut off from their professions and from commerce. Jews who had served in the military or were tenured in the civil service and in teaching positions lost the professions and statuses that they had earned. Hitherto successful businesses and stores found themselves without most of their customers, and many failed.

The Biden administration has done nothing because it sees these attacks as politically advantageous. The attacks are being done by the militant brownshirts of the Democratic Party, and thus Biden and Harris are glad to see them occur. They want the religious — who almost always tend to be conservative — to live in fear. And these politicians also know that they have the support of a huge segment of the modern American population. Too many Americans no longer believe in free speech. Instead, they think that censorship and oppression are always justified to impose their own ideas.

Meanwhile, the majority of Americans who still say they believe in free speech and religious freedom do nothing. Within the Republican Party is a small but significant faction that actually favors the repeated betrayal of its conservative wing, allying themselves with the Democrats to further these intolerant policies. The rest of that party does nothing, because it is like the American general public, largely willing to look the other way out of fear, self-interest, or cowardice.

And thus freedom dies.

The malignant and divisive spirit of his speech will not soon be quelled

 

What we are seeing, in fact, is the promulgation of a neo-Manichean philosophy. That heretical sect, named for a third-century A.D. Parthian seer called Mani, was an astringently dualistic creed that divided the world into light and dark, the saved and the damned. According to the creed of Biden and the elites who formulate his thoughts and speeches, the radical Democratic agenda of climate change, “green” intimidation, wealth redistribution, and sexual perversion is the gospel of light. Outer darkness is occupied by people who espouse such traditional American values as hard work, frugality, patriotism, individual liberty, and the canons of private property that guarantee those rights. It is a strange and unforgiving religion, one whose primary sacrament is excommunication. Ultimately, as some wag put it, its goal is a world in which everything that is not prohibited is mandatory.

Biden declares war on half the country

 

Joe Biden’s speech at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on Thursday was one of the most remarkable in living memory. By “remarkable,” I hasten to add that I do not mean “good.” On the contrary, it was a breathtaking act of what the psychoanalysts call “projection,” blaming others for the bad things you do yourself.

The speech itself was a malignant act of demagoguery that will have colonels and generalissimos everywhere catching their breath with envy. The neo-totalitarian stage set, replete with red lighting effects and military personal flanking the shouting, gesticulating Biden, was right out of central casting. Next time, perhaps Biden will wear epaulettes along with his signature aviators.
