Former Pro-Hillary Journo Describes Sid Blumenthal's Slimy Rumor-Mongering in 2008

There will be more. You don't think that Team Hillary just contacted two reporters to spread the Birther rumors do you?

Another journalist --the second one in two days -- came out Saturday to confess that Sid Blumenthal aggressively shopped the rumor to him in 2008 about then-Senator Barack Obama being born in Kenya. Meanwhile, former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau spent some time on Twitter today trying to stamp out the new narrative.

Hillary was the original "birther."

New analysis from the Washington Post removes any doubt that the anti-Obama Birther movement was started in 2007 and 2008 by Hillary Clinton, her campaign, and her Democrat supporters.

Read the whole thing, including the memo that made said that Obama "is not at his center fundamentally America in his thinking and his values."  And they were right!

The Romney Birth Certificate Joke

Romney’s birth certificate joke is incredible because it works on so many levels. Ann Althouse says:

Romney is saying — in so many words — I'm more truly and fundamentally American than Barack Obama. And the implication is: I want you to think about the ways that Obama hasn't fully embraced American values of freedom, capitalism, etc. etc.

The MSM is believes it’s a gaffe. Jan Crawford of CBS:

At Romney event, two reactions to his birth certificate joke: reporters gasped--and a crowd of thousands laughed and cheered.

Last night on FOX’s Special Report the liberal columnist for the Washington Post, Charles Lane, called it “tasteless,” “awkward” and an “unforced error.”

Lane apparently feels that there’s nothing funny about Barack Obama. He told Romney to play nice, leaving the jokes, mudslinging, distortions, lies and to the Obama camp (although he will never characterize them as that). They are so dim that they may think that Romney tried to appeal to the “Birthers.” That’s the problem with the MSM, they think they’re sophisticates, but they are not. They fall for bumper sticker slogans and the Cro-Magnon-crude political lies of the Democrats. You have to be stupid to do that, and their acceptance of it is proof.

And keep in mind that until he decided to run for President, Obama claimed to have been born in Kenya.

   

 

Question for Charles Lanes: was this just an unforced error?   Or was it the sort of claim that Elizabeth Warren made to appear more "authentic" or exotic?  This bio was around for 15 years even as Obama was collecting millions in royalties from his semi-fictional books.   Awkward, isn't it?  The MSM knows what to do with Obama's awkward gaffes: it ignores them.  Oh, that's just Obama being Obama .... moving on.

ABC News/WaPo Poll Shocker: 1 In 7 Democrats Are "Birthers"

An ABC News/Washington Post poll released yesterday had a shocking result. Fifteen percent (15%) of Democrats think President Obama may have been born in a foreign country. Eighteen percent (18%) of Independents and thirty-one (31%) of Republicans believe Obama may have been born abroad.

Fourteen percent of Americans say without prompting that they think Barack Obama was born in another country, rising to one in five when those with no opinion are offered that as a possibility.

But what about Democrats & Liberals?

At the same time, 15 percent of Democrats say they think Obama was born elsewhere, as do 12 percent of liberals.

With numbers like these, it looks like about 45 million people in the US question Obama's eligibility to be President ... on Constitutional grounds. About 250 million don't think he should be President for other reasons. It seems that there is a limit to how far you can go in the leadership department based solely on your ability to read Teleprompters.
