The Virginian Pilot and the SPLC

Ana Ley is a staff writer for the Virginian Pilot writing advocacy journalism for a newspaper that seems to see its role as an eraser of Virginia's past.

Headline: Some Confederate Symbols Still Trave Virginia Roads

Subhead: DMV offers license plates with the likeness of Gen. Robert E. Lee.

In her article she mentions the Southern Poverty Law Center, a source often cited by those who want a cheap and easy source for anti-Southern, anti-Christian, and anti-Conservative "factoids."

I assume that Ana Ley is young and doesn't worry too much about her sources.  Here's an open letter to Ms. Ley:.

Dear Ana,

You’re clearly tasked with writing advocacy journalism, but to be credible you should pick your sources more carefully.  You give a lot of credence in your article to the SPLC.

References to the SPLC, which has a record of sexual discrimination, gender discrimination, and racism that stretches back decades as reported in the LA Times, is a poor source of information on this issue.  Its founder, Morris Dees was fired as was the President, Richard Cohen, who followed him out the door.

USA Today labeled the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate-based scam that nearly caused people to be murdered because it designated The Family Research Council a hate group.  The Family Research Council is a public advocacy organization that promotes the family, the dignity of every human life and is an advocate for religious liberty.  The SPLC incited a young man to enter their offices to kill the people there and planned to smear Chick-fil-A sandwiches in their lifeless faces as a political statement. Thanks to a guard who bravely held the would-be killer after he was shot, the crime incited by the SPLC was not totally carried out.

Here’s how Bob Moser, writing in The New Yorker – not a hotbed of Conservatism – describes working at the SPLC.

Walking to lunch past the center’s Maya Lin–designed memorial to civil-rights martyrs, we’d cast a glance at the inscription from Martin Luther King, Jr., etched into the black marble—“Until justice rolls down like waters”—and intone, in our deepest voices, “Until justice rolls down like dollars.”..

The first surprise was the office itself. On a hill in downtown Montgomery, down the street from both Jefferson Davis’s Confederate White House and the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, where M.L.K. preached and organized, the center had recently built a massive modernist glass-and-steel structure that the social critic James Howard Kunstler would later liken to a “Darth Vader building” that made social justice “look despotic.” It was a cold place inside, too. The entrance was through an underground bunker, past multiple layers of human and electronic security. Cameras were everywhere in the open-plan office, which made me feel like a Pentagon staffer, both secure and insecure at once. But nothing was more uncomfortable than the racial dynamic that quickly became apparent: a fair number of what was then about a hundred employees were African-American, but almost all of them were administrative and support staff—“the help,” one of my black colleagues said pointedly. The “professional staff”—the lawyers, researchers, educators, public-relations officers, and fund-raisers—were almost exclusively white. Just two staffers, including me, were openly gay.

During my first few weeks, a friendly new co-worker couldn’t help laughing at my bewilderment. “Well, honey, welcome to the Poverty Palace,” she said. “I can guaran-damn-tee that you will never step foot in a more contradictory place as long as you live.”

“Everything feels so out of whack,” I said. “Where are the lawyers? Where’s the diversity? What in God’s name is going on here?”

“And you call yourself a journalist!” she said, laughing again. “Clearly you didn’t do your research.”

Thanks to Morris Dees background as a direct mail marketer,  (he's a member of the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame) the SPLC is obscenely rich with an endowment of half a billion dollars, yet it raises hundreds of millions annually by continually crying poverty. The SPLC stashes over $100 million in offshore accounts. certainly a curious decision for an organization with "poverty" in its name. Putting tens of millions in tax havens is all the more curious when you consider that, as a non-profit, the SPLC doesn't pay taxes anyway.

Current Affairs has an excellent article on the SPLC and calls their Hate Map an “outright fraud.”  Here’s an excerpt:

The biggest problem with the hate map, though, is that it’s an outright fraud. I don’t use that term casually. I mean, the whole thing is a willful deception designed to scare older liberals into writing checks to the SPLC. The SPLC reported this year that the number of hate groups in the country is at a “record high,” that it is the “fourth straight year” of hate group growth, and that this growth coincides with Donald Trump’s rise to power. There are now a whopping 1,020 hate groups around the country. America is teeming with hate.

Let’s dig into this number a bit. The first thing you should note is that it’s meaningless. The SPLC consistently declines to identify how many members these hate groups have. It just notes the number of groups. Without knowing how large they are, what does it mean that they exist? Are they one person? 1000?...

In fact, when you actually look at the hate map, you find something interesting: Many of these “groups” barely seem to exist at all. A “Holocaust denial” group in Kerrville, Texas called “carolynyeager.net” appears to just be a woman called Carolyn Yeager. A “male supremacy” group called Return of Kings is apparently just a blog published by pick-up artist Roosh V and a couple of his friends, and the most recent post is an announcement from six months ago that the project was on indefinite hiatus. Tony Alamo, the abusive cult leader of “Tony Alamo Christian Ministries,” died in prison in 2017. (Though his ministry’s website still promotes “Tony Alamo’s Unreleased Beatles Album.”) A “black nationalist” group in Atlanta called “Luxor Couture” appears to be an African fashion boutique. “Sharkhunters International” is one guy who really likes U-boats and takes small groups of sad Nazis on tours to see ruins and relics. And good luck finding out much about the “Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology,” which—if it is currently operative at all—is a tiny anti-Catholic cult based in Shawano, Wisconsin.

A good reporter is a skeptic, not a propagandist.  A good reporter does research about their subjects.  Be a good reporter.

The Southern Poverty Law Center Is Both a Terrible Place to Work and a Place That Does Terrible Work

Peddling this false narrative has long been the SPLC's business model, and the Trump years have been especially profitable, since the group was almost perfectly positioned to capitalize on growing liberals fears about hate crimes, resurgent white nationalism, and the alt-right. Over the course of the Trump campaign and presidency, the SPLC has added dozens of staffers, saw its social media following rise dramatically, ramped up its fundraising, and built a $200 million endowment. Its role has been to provide intellectual support for a central narrative of the #Resistance: Hate, broadly defined, is surging across America, and Trump is to blame.

But the SPLC's hate tally is incredibly suspect, as left-of-center writer Nathan Robinson explained in a terrific article for Current Affairs. According to the SPLC's hate map, there were more than 1,000 hate groups in the U.S. in 2018—nearly twice as many as existed in 2000. The number has increased every year since 2014.

The map is littered with dots that provide more information on each specific group, and this is where the SPLC gives away the game. Consider a random state—Oklahoma, for example, is home to nine distinct hate groups, by the SPLC's count. Five of them, though, are black nationalist groups: the Nation of Islam, Israel United in Christ, etc. The SPLC counts each chapter of these groups separately, so the Nation of Islam counts as two separate hate groups within Oklahoma (its various chapters in other states are also tallied separately). The map makes no attempt to contextualize all of this—no information is given on the relative size or influence of each group.

In his piece, Robinson describes the map as an "outright fraud," and it's hard to argue with him:

In fact, when you actually look at the hate map, you find something interesting: Many of these "groups" barely seem to exist at all. A "Holocaust denial" group in Kerrville, Texas called "carolynyeager.net" appears to just be a woman called Carolyn Yeager. A "male supremacy" group called Return of Kings is apparently just a blog published by pick-up artist Roosh V and a couple of his friends, and the most recent post is an announcement from six months ago that the project was on indefinite hiatus. Tony Alamo, the abusive cult leader of "Tony Alamo Christian Ministries," died in prison in 2017. (Though his ministry's website still promotes "Tony Alamo's Unreleased Beatles Album.") A "black nationalist" group in Atlanta called "Luxor Couture" appears to be an African fashion boutique. "Sharkhunters International" is one guy who really likes U-boats and takes small groups of sad Nazis on tours to see ruins and relics. And good luck finding out much about the "Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology," which—if it is currently operative at all—is a tiny anti-Catholic cult based in Shawano, Wisconsin.

Sloppily tallying hate in service of a greater narrative is par for the course at the SPLC. The group's report on Trump-inspired schoolyard bullying is similarly flawed: Its survey was unscientific, and based on anecdotes reported by members of the SPLC's mailing list.

When it comes to misleading hate crime data, the SPLC is far from the only offender. Many in the media have exaggerated a finding by the Anti-Defamation League that anti-Semitic hate has increased 57 percent under Trump. (Bomb threats made by an Israeli teenager were largely responsible for the perceived increase: anti-Semitic assaults actually decreased substantially.) The FBI's hate crime data has also been widely mischaracterized.

Still, the SPLC stands out. It previously characterized Maajid Nawaz as an anti-Muslim extremist—but Nawaz is a progressive whose work is aimed at de-radicalizing Muslim extremists. To this day, the SPLC lists Charles Murray's ideology as "white nationalist."

Apple-backed Southern Poverty Law Center wracked in turmoil, called a ‘con’ for ‘bilking gullible liberals’

In August 2017, following the Charlottesville riots, Apple made a contribution of $1 million to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Apple also matched two-for-one employees’ donations to the Southern Poverty Law Center through September 30th of that year and had Apple’s iTunes Store offer visitors a way to donate to the SPLC.

In a letter to employees in August 2017, explaining Apple Inc.’s contribution, CEO Tim Cook wrote:

Apple will be making contributions of $1 million each to the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. We will also match two-for-one our employees’ donations to these and several other human rights groups, between now and September 30. In the coming days, iTunes will offer users an easy way to join us in directly supporting the work of the SPLC. Dr. Martin Luther King said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” So, we will continue to speak up. These have been dark days, but I remain as optimistic as ever that the future is bright. Apple can and will play an important role in bringing about positive change. – Apple CEO Tim Cook in a letter to employees, August 2017

Uh, yeah. Aging well, Cook’s missive hasn’t:

“In the days since the stunning dismissal of Morris Dees, the co-founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center, on March 14th, I’ve been thinking about the jokes my S.P.L.C. colleagues and I used to tell to keep ourselves sane,” Bob Moser reports for The New Yorker. “Walking to lunch past the center’s Maya Lin–designed memorial to civil-rights martyrs, we’d cast a glance at the inscription from Martin Luther King, Jr., etched into the black marble — ‘Until justice rolls down like waters’ — and intone, in our deepest voices, ‘Until justice rolls down like dollars.'”

SPLC is a hate group designed to enrich it's founders.

SPLC is a scam and a hate group

From Instapundit:

CONTINUING ITS DESCENT INTO ABJECT IDIOCY, the Southern Poverty Law Center is now calling my wife a “Male Supremacist.” I call the SPLC a scam and increasingly a hate group itself. The difference is, I’m right. And yes, Helen is “far more qualified than anyone from the SPLC,” a two-bit bunch of grifters that sells the media political cover for messages the media want to send anyway, while pretending to stand for something decent.

The Democrat Party is the world’s most successful hate group.

Stacy Mccan (The Other McCain) identifies the Democrats.

The Democrat Party is the world’s most successful hate group. It attracts poor people who hate rich people, black people who hate white people, gay people who hate straight people, feminists who hate men, environmentalists who hate the internal combustion engine, and a lot of bratty college kids who hate their parents. However, the real secret of the party’s success is that it attracts the support of journalists who hate Republicans, and who therefore work tirelessly to convince the rest of us that we should vote for Democrats....

No matter who the Republicans nominate for president, the Organized Forces of Liberal Journalism will paint him as a greedy, cold-hearted, woman-hating racist. If the GOP nominated a Buddhist monk or a Latina lesbian, still the New York Times and NBC News would find a way to convince themselves that the Republican candidate represented everything liberals hate about America — the military, the police, Christianity, capitalism, the internal combustion engine and heterosexual white men who work for a living.

List of Conservative women to kill issued by Far-Left SPLC

They don't wnat you silenced, they want you dead. And are doing their part.

“With three jihadis dead and two jihadis jailed in attempts to kill me, this is just encouraging more jihadis to come after me – and the other women this communist hate group names,” Geller told WND. “At a time when jihad killers are moving actively against those whom they hate in the U.S., this is a quite literal hit list.”

Ann Coulter proud to be on the list.

Authors of the kill list: Mark Potok and Janet Smith of the Southern Poverty Law Center, or SPLC.

Police: Original target of Boston terror cell was Pamela Geller

Usaamah Rahim, the man fatally shot after waving a military knife at officers, had been plotting to behead Pamela Geller, an activist and conservative blogger, law enforcement sources told CNN. Geller drew national attention last month after police thwarted an attack on an event her organization was sponsoring in Garland, Texas....

But Rahim, a 26-year-old security guard who officials believe was radicalized by ISIS and other extremists, decided instead to target the “boys in blue,” a reference to police, according to court documents. “I can’t wait that long,” he said of the original beheading plan, according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court in Boston on Wednesday.

The press blames Geller.

Death to Whitey!

Toni Morrison: "I want to see a cop shoot a white unarmed teenager in the back.”

Now, maybe Toni Morrison is just a stupid person. But, she has been smart enough to play the skins game well enough to get rich as a colossally bad poet. No, I suspect she knows the truth of things. She just hates white people and would enjoy seeing more white people suffer and die. The cops could shoot a thousand white teenagers in the back tonight and Morrison will want more.

I don’t blame her, really. She’s old and no one really cares what she has to say about anything. She may as well let loose with what’s on her mind. She also must think the tide of history is on the side of non-whites. Look around and ask yourself if she is wrong.

No Insurance Available for Jewish Kindergartens in Belgium

Via Stacy McCain we find that Belgian insurance companies will not insure Jewish institutions.  Insuring Jews in Europe entails too much risk.  They are a magnet for terror attacks.

Nazi boycott_of Jewish_stores

Wait, I though we had defeated the Nazis?

Sixty years after the Allies defeated Hitler, why should European Jews have to live with this kind of fear every day? Why should Christian students in Kenya have to fear being shot or beheaded by a gang of bloodthirsty Muslim fanatics? And why should Pamela Geller’s American Freedom Defense Initiative have to fight court battles — and media smear tactics — to run its advertisements in Philadelphia?
You may say that European insurance companies are biased against Jews.  but you may be wrong. Dana leaves a comment:
Businessmen don’t have the luxury of thinking with their hearts; they use cold, hard facts in assessing their decisions, because if they don’t, they are very likely to fail in business. And when businessmen in much-more-liberal-Europe won’t sell insurance to a Jewish kindergarten, because the risk of a terrorist attack is too high, you know that that was the result of a cold assessment of the risks.
So, sixty years later, it's getting risky to be a Jew in Europe.

Europe nearly “exterminated” all of its Jews, and chose instead to import tens of millions of Muslims. As country after country caves and cowers to Islamic supremacist demands, violence and hatred, the Jews, the most despised of people under Islam, are fleeing in droves — and those who stay must deal with situations like this.

Europe will reap what she has sown. The rampant violence and hate Muslims in Europe display towards Jews is never covered by the mainstream media. Instead, we are subjected to the non-stop fiction of of “islamophobia” and the mythical victimhood narrative employed by Islamic supremacists and their media quislings.

Christians, of course, will suffer the same cruel fate, and the same scourge that ushered in Europe’s Dark Ages will usher in the Modern Dark Age.

In the US where Muslims are a smaller part of the population, it's mostly Liberals who have begun the persecution of Jews and Christians.  All across academia Jews are despised and disinvestment in Israel is all the rage.  If you want to get death threats, your business shut down and the media gang up on you, tell the leaders of the the Church of What's happening Now you don't want to participate in a gay wedding, but only if you're Christian.

The regular people of the US are still firmly opposed to persecuting Jews and Christians, and have contributed nearly a million dollars to the pizza shop family that was hounded by the media and the rest of the Left, but the Ruling Class is working to put a stop to that.

Meet the Memories Pizza Family

These are the people the media tried to destroy. These are the people that Tony Macrini and all the bigots in the media wanted to drive into the ground.

Sorry, Media: Polls Show Majorities Side with Indiana’s Christian Pizzeria

That puts a majority of Americans are on the side of Memories Pizza,
... the small Indiana establishment currently being smeared far and wide in the media for their public claim that while they are happy to serve same-sex couples at their restaurant, their religious beliefs would not allow them to cater a same sex wedding.

The liars in the media are in a small minority, but thanks to the media megaphone they sound much bigger than they are.

The margins were even larger in opposition to laws that proposed “penalties or fines for individuals who refuse to provide wedding-related services to same sex couples even if their refusal is based on their religious beliefs.” … [A]according to Marist, Americans oppose penalties on businesses like Memories by a 65-31 margin. The margin among Democrats: 62-34 against.
The Democrats and the media - but I repeat myself - are trying to stamp out the right to our own conscience, trying to steamroller the American public in the name of "fairness."  Well, they got the victim of their hate, but it will be a Pyrrhic victory. Memories Pizza closed after being deluged by an avalanche of hate mail, twitter attacks, much of it obscene or violent.  One women's sports coach tried to organize a gang to burn the shop down.  The family that owns the shop is staying behind closed doors at their home in fear of their lives.

Note, this vicious campaign was cooked up by the voices of "tolerance and love."

As a side note, a member of that lynch mob was Norfolk talker Tony Macrini who regularly fulminates against Christians during his morning rants.   He's one of the self righteous media jerks who make their money selling airtime to a credulous public who listen to him spew hate for those who don't believe what he does.

A Tale of Two Rapes

Mark Steyn on the media and two rapes, one at UVA that didn't happen and on in Egypt that did.

Yesterday, the Police Chief of Charlottesville, Virginia gave a remarkable press conference, the upshot of which was, as the New York Times headline put it:

Police Find No Evidence Of Rape At University Of Virginia Fraternity

Not only was there "no evidence" that the horrific gang rape at the frat house party took place, there was "no evidence" that the party took place. Indeed, there was "no evidence" that the man "Jackie" described as her date that night even exists.

But the Left isn't willing to let go of such a great story, even if it's a total lie.

"Even if she made up the story", she "pulled back the curtain on rape". And even if there was no rape going on behind the curtain she raised awareness of how rape culture is so prevalent that women are being traumatized into making up stories that they've been gang-raped by seven Phi Kappa Psi men even when they haven't been. The blogger Oliver Willis thinks it's "super dangerous" that the right is seizing on the implosion of Rolling Stone's story to insist that "all rape allegations can be ignored". But isn't it the left that's trivializing real rape by according fake rape the same protected status? After all, if Jackie is incredibly "brave" for "coming forward" to "pull back the curtain" on something that never happened, if "gang rape" no longer requires either rape or a gang, if it is not necessary to have actually been attacked, brutalized and sexually violated in order to be a rape victim, then what's the big deal if one has been?

The media have now moved on. At CNN, they're worried that the police report on the total lack of any evidence for any rape might deter rape victims from coming forward:

CNN reporter Sara Ganim agreed with one of Hostin's conclusions centered on her fear that "Jackie's" experience might lead other victims of sexual assault to stay quiet about their experiences. When too many women who are victims of sexual assault already refuse to come forward, her concerns are valid and should be shared by everyone.

"Other victims of sexual assault" is not quite le mot juste, given that there is no evidence that "Jackie" was ever assaulted by anybody at all. A better word would be actual victims of sexual assault. And, if real victims of real sexual assault are deterred from coming forward because a fabulist's pitiful fantasy was made front-page news by a gullible ideological media, that ought to occasion some circumspection from those, like Ms Ganim and Ms Hostin, who made the fabulist a pin-up girl in the first place. If CNN et al want someone to blame for real rape victims being reluctant to come forward, they should try looking in the mirror.

Meanwhile the victim of a real rape is ignored.

CBS News 60 Minutes correspondent Lara Logan is back in the hospital in Washington, D.C., due to years-long complications stemming from the brutal sexual assault she endured in Egypt while covering the Arab Spring in early 2011...

While the MSM were swooning like schoolgirls about the Arab Spring, real Arabs creating the Spring were showing what they thought of women.

Within minutes of Mubarak's resignation, the CBS reporter Lara Logan, covering events in Tahrir Square, was set upon by a 200-strong mob who stripped her, punched her, beat her with flagpoles, and subjected her to a half-hour sexual assault by multiple participants while shouting "Jew! Jew!" She's not a Jew, and she doesn't look the least bit like the hook-nosed stereotypes to which Arab cartoonists are so partial. But then, if you're the kind of Egyptian who thinks Mubarak is a "Zionist" and that the Mossad are putting GPS on sharks and sending them to terrorize sunbathers at Sharm el-Sheikh, she's close enough.

What's striking about this story is not so much that her own employer, CBS News, chose not to run it until over three days later - on the following Monday - but that in the intervening period they pumped out the same sappy drivel as everybody else - "Egypt's New Age Revolution" (60 Minutes), "Egypt Proved Change Is Possible, Sexy And Cool!" (CBS Sunday Morning) - even as they knew there was another side to the story, and that their own correspondent was lying in the hospital traumatised because of it.

It's the kind of idiot like John Adams who talks about the subjugation of women in Arabia but then - to show that America's just as bad - refers to Rush Limbaugh as an oppressor of American women.

This was a symphony for violin and some such movement or whatever, and the composer decided to take to the microphone and explain to the audience -- it's a black-tie audience, Avery Fisher Hall -- what it was that inspired this particular symphony or piece or movement that he was performing, conducting, whatever he was doing last night. And he said he had been in Paris, in Europe, and he was reading Arabian Nights, and he was reading other tracts.

And he was just stunned and he found out all of the discrimination and hatred and mistreatment of women in the Arab world. And then he paused and he said, "You can find that here on Rush Limbaugh." Nordlinger said what happened next sickened him. The audience in Avery Fisher haul applauded for nearly two minutes. The composer was referencing me as no different than militant Islamists and their treatment for women.

Two Minutes of Hate
What we have here is the Perfect Liberal Moment, the self-satisfied opportunity to hate.

Self-satisfied hatred: a perfect phrase to describe liberal smugness and it’s consequent loathsome behavior. Substitute Garrison Keillor (for one) for John Adams, and the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul for Avery Fisher Hall, and you have another building block in my contempt for my former homies on the Left. They would hijack any event to hold a two-minute hate of George Bush. Or Dick Cheney. Or Don Rumsfeld. Or Condoleezza Rice. Or John Ashcroft.

But the self-satisfied part was even worse than the hatred. People like Adams and Keillor didn’t want a debate. They wanted unanimity. They picked their times, however inappropriate and incongruous, when they knew they’d get no argument. Even more, they’d get whoops of approval and howls of laughter. And I felt the same bile rising in my stomach that Nordlinger describes.

He was almost alone, but not quite. Rush was happy to share this story as he opened his show today. Later on, he got a call from a woman who was also in the Avery Fisher audience. She and her companion were both disgusted by the spectacle. When they booed Adams and screamed in defense of Rush, they were angrily told to shut up. Like I said, unanimity and nothing less.

As Jay Nordlinger says in his article in National Review:
You’re never supposed to analogize anything to the Nazis. That’s the rule. But sometimes I break the rule. And I believe I got a whiff — just a tiny whiff — of Nuremberg in Avery Fisher Hall tonight. Collective hatred, and self-satisfied hatred, based on damnable lies.
But I digress.  This was about two rapes.

Since the rise of ISIS, we now have an epidemic of gang rape and sex slavery across the region. What happened to Miss Logan told us something of the truth of Islam's "spring fever" - whereas the "change is sexy and cool" pap was as fake a narrative as "Jackie"'s.

These facts are too cold and plain to be expressed in a "multicultural" society which has told itself that, thanks to the joys of diversity, a nice gay couple and a polygamous Muslim with three wives in identical burkas can live side by side at 27 and 29 Elm Street. In America Alone, I mentioned two European women who'd taken to going out headscarved when their journeys took them through, ahem, certain neighborhoods. No young girl can safely walk in "scanty clothing" through Clichy-sous-Bois or Rosengard in Sweden. In La Courneuve in France, 77 per cent of covered women said they wore the veil to "avoid the wrath of Islamic morality patrols," as Claire Berlinski put it. She added: "We are talking about France, not Iran."

And a fool like John Adams, America Loather, tells "people like him" that America's just the same.  And the fools applaud, not because they accept the accusation, but because it gives them a moment to look around and tell themselves they - and the other well-fed America Loathers around them - are better people.  They are not like the "low sloping foreheads" outside of Manhattan, San Francisco, and the groves of academia.

Women's Sexual Assault Advocates are Upset that University of Virginia Rape Did Not Occur

Advocacy groups would not have any reason for existing if their cause disappeared. The Race Industry would cease to exist if everyone's skin turned one color. The same is true of the Sexual Assault Prevention industry. If men disappeared tomorrow what would the sexual assault centers do?  Go after women who prey on other women?

Well, we are finding out. When the report of a brutal gang rape at the University of Virginia turns out to be a hoax, the entrepreneurs of the Sexual Assault Industry worry that their business will go down. Evidence that a symbiotic relationship between a disturbed young woman and an author who has made a career out of fabricating sexual assault stories "could set a dangerous precedent." That's according of Rebecca Weybright who worries that the next female who claims to have been raped may have to actually produce some evidence as opposed to having her victim thrown out of school - or worse: being sent to prison for a crime he did not commit.

The findings may prove to be an obstacle to sexual assault prevention and adjudication in the future, according to John Banzhaf, a public interest law professor at George Washington University.

“This Rolling Stone debacle, coupled with the recent memory of phony allegations of rape [by lacrosse players] at Duke University, and a Justice Department study showing that widely cited estimates of the rate of rapes and other sexual assaults on college campuses has been grossly exaggerated, may blunt so-far successful efforts by the federal government and anti-rape groups to force colleges to not only crack down but to also convict more male students,” Banzhaf said in a statement given to The College Fix.

Banzhaf said “almost two dozen courts” have found in favor of accused males who sued their universities to obtain justice.

The Charlottesville police findings could prove detrimental to victims of sexual assault who are seeking justice, if they come to be seen as “the boy who cried wolf,” Banzhaf added.

Director Rebecca Weybright of the Sexual Assault Resource Agency of Charlottesville echoed Banzhaf’s worry over the effect the investigation’s conclusion could have on assault victims.

“Why would somebody want to put themselves to be potentially subjected to what, the amount of questioning and I’m sure the criticism?” Weybright said in an interview with NBC 29.

Further, Weybright was concerned Jackie’s discredited account could set a dangerous precedent.

“My first thought was ‘oh my gosh this is just going to make more people not believe survivors,’ and that’s pretty devastating,” Weybright said.

For people like Weybright = No Rape.  No Cause.  It's Terrible.

Booby Kennedy likes heroin

Bobby Kennedy is unhinged.  He wants the death of people and institutions that disagree with him.

.
Apparently yesterday’s rant about the Koch brothers wasn’t enough for Little Bobby. Here he is calling for the jailing of the Koch brothers, and possibly politicians who “deny” climate change, when all they’re really denying is the will to power of brownshirts like Little Bobby. (John referred to this rant yesterday, but here’s the tape.) He cites “reckless endangerment” as the legal cause of action for jailing the Kochs, who belong “with all the other war criminals.” Hmm: shouldn’t Little Bobby be in prison for the “reckless endangerment” of his unrelenting claims that vaccines cause autism, which every scientific review has debunked? How many children of getting the old childhood diseases again because their stupid, gullible parents listened to this demagogue? (Video is just 45 seconds long—hardly time to pour a shot glass for Power Line’s Little Bobby Drinking Game.)

But here's a possible explanation for his outbursts ... (in an article about RFK Backtracks Amid Skakel Furor 11/15/2002)

Kennedy served as a prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney's office from 1982 until 1983, when he was arrested for heroin possession. He checked into treatment, pleaded guilty, and was given probation. He currently heads an environmental group working to protect the Hudson River.
It's amazing what the rich and famous can get away with.  Unfortunately, Bobby Kennedy may well be saying what much of the Liberals really believe.  What they really want to the rest of America. The new Brownshirts, who were also radical anti-capitalists.

The Knockout Game -- NYT/NPR Say No Big Deal

The "knockout game" -- and the media underreporting of it -- combines the breakdown of the family with the media's condescending determination to serve as a public relations bureau for blacks.... Both National Public Radio and The New York Times say these reports of the "knockout game" being widespread are overblown and do not represent a trend. Really?

The Los Angeles Times, the major metropolitan hometown paper, for one whole week did not write a single word about the Long Beach incident, which took place only twenty-some miles from the paper's headquarters. Eyewitnesses to the brutal attack reported many in the mob yelling, "We hate white people, f*** whites!" during the rampage.

NPR finally got around to mentioning Long Beach -- a month later. And the NPR piece was really about whether blacks, given America's history of racism, can even commit a "hate crime." NPR moderator Farai Chideya put the following question to her guests: "...Some people say black folks cannot be racist because the root of the issue is power. So what do you make of this crime where you've got 12- to 17-year-olds and, you know, black people attacking whites? Is this a traditional hate crime? Should it be prosecuted as such? People in the community are kind of divided about that." Perhaps Chideya might ask the young white female victims whether they felt that their black attackers lacked "power."
All of a sudden, NPR gets conservative, asking whether a brutal assault is a "traditional" hate crime. Is NPR, the upholder of tradition when it comes to crimes?

And don'f forget the Virginian Pilot's spiking of the black mob attack on their own staff.

A good reason not to leave a cash tip

It appears that the waitresses of the "oppressed minority" persuasion may be faking being stiffed by bigots in order to generate sympathy and get cash sent to them after they spread their stories.

Example:  Dayna Morales is a lesbian and appears to have victimized a couple she waited on.

Dayna Morales, a former Marine and a server at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, posted a photo on Facebook earlier this month, showing the bill with a line through the space for a tip. The photo of the receipt showed someone had written, “I’m sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle.”
Morales indicated in her Facebook post and in subsequent media interviews . . .that the customer wrote that line.
But a family contacted NBC 4 New York claiming their receipt from the restaurant shows they did leave a tip, and provided what they said was a credit card statement as proof.
The husband and wife, who asked to remain anonymous, showed. . .a receipt that appeared to be printed at the same minute, on the same date, for the same $93.55 total, except with an $18 tip. They also provided a document they said was a Visa bill, which appears to indicate their card was charged for the meal plus the tip, for a total of $111.55.
So, who are you going to believe?

The Anchoress makes the point that you can't ever prove that you left a cash tip and could be victimized by his new wave of fraud and deception.

Because my mother was a waitress who worked for mainly for tips, when my husband and I dine out we will very often strike a line through the “tips” portion of the bill, and leave our gratuity in cash. We do this for a couple of reasons — because often food-servers need the cash to pay the babysitter when they get home; because keeping track of what tips should show up on a paycheck is difficult; because why not let people access their tips immediately?
Well, we may decide to stop leaving cash.

Another example of self-victimization that netted the server over $10,000 in cash gifts.

In the Mean Times

Bud Norman notes that the Left has gotten increasingly hateful, from the President on down to the shock troops in the trenches of academia and politics.

At the very highest levels of the Democratic party the president routinely tells audiences that his opposition is motivated by the desire to cause the poor and sick to suffer while making the environment uninhabitable, and it invariably gets a big hand from the hand-picked crowds of true believers. With such mean rhetoric coming from the leaders, it’s not surprising that the followers would start hoping for the death of sons and daughters....

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has recently described the “tea party” legislators attempting to limit the debt and de-fund Obamacare as “anarchists” and “fanatics.” It’s nice to know that “anarchist” is still a term of opprobrium in Democratic circles, given their longtime indulgence of the black-masked thugs going by that name who terrorized the past several international economic summits, but the insult does not bode well for any bipartisan solutions to the nation’s problems....

Yet another story involves a journalism professor at the University of Kansas, who took to the “tweets” after the mass murder at Washington’s Navy Yard to say “The blood is on the hands of the NRA. Next time, let is be YOUR sons and daughters. Shame on you. May God damn you.” ...

One story concerns the Sacramento Democratic Party’s communications chairman, of all people, who responded to a “Tweet” advocating the de-funding of Obamacare by writing on his own “Twitter” account: “May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases.”

Can't we all just get along?

Or is this the next step?

We already have the police arresting a man for speaking up at a public meeting.
