This level of hubris is never found in the wild. It is in Davos.

Monday, January 02, 2017

"The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War's been over for 20 years."

Thus spoke Barack Obama, and the rest of Liberalism agreed with him.

Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Romney's fear was "somewhat dated."

The New York Times added that the former governor's comments, "display either a shocking lack of knowledge about international affairs or just craven politics. Either way, they are reckless and unworthy of a major presidential contender."

Politifact calls Obama's snark:  "Half True."

Salon gloated "Obama zings Romney for calling Russia America's biggest geopolitical threat"

The Huffington Post had a similar erection President Barack Obama deployed a Seinfeldian zinger to mock former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential nominee.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews: “I don’t know what decade this guy’s living in, is he trying to play Ronald Reagan here, or what?”

University of Georgia professor Cynthia Tucker: “This is Mitt Romney’s severely conservative problem. It made Romney look dumb. He’s not a dumb man, but he said something that was clearly dumb.”

Rachel Maddow: the problem is the former governor just doesn’t have any real policy chops in this area. He’s out of his depth, and struggles when the subject takes center stage. It’s not just that Romney is uninformed; it’s that he hasn’t figured out how to fake it.

And let's not forget John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam):    “…but not Mitt Romney. He’s even blurted out the preposterous notion that Russia is our ‘number one geopolitical foe.’ Folks: Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from Alaska; Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching Rocky IV.”

'Defies reality': Kerry takes heat for claiming airport attack a sign of ISIS desperation

Sounding every bit like Baghdad Bob

Secretary of State John Kerry faced swift criticism Wednesday for suggesting the terror attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport was evidence the Islamic State is getting “desperate” – an assessment one top Republican official said “defies reality.”

Kerry made the remarks late Tuesday at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, referring to ISIS by the name Daesh.

Crediting coalition efforts, Kerry said it’s been over a year since the group launched a “full-scale military offensive.”

"Now, yes, you can bomb an airport, you can blow yourself up. That's the tragedy. Daesh and others like it know that we have to get it right 24/7/365. They have to get it right for ten minutes or one hour. So it's a very different scale,” Kerry said. "And if you're desperate and if you know you’re losing, and you know you want to give up your life, then obviously you can do some harm.”

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul, R-Texas, slammed the secretary’s assessment.

Texas congressman reacts to Istanbul airport bombing on 'Fox & Friends'
“They’ve said they’re on the run for many years, and they’re not,” McCaul told Fox News Wednesday morning. “I think the airstrikes have ramped up external operations … This is an unprecedented pace of terror in modern times. And so to say they’re on the run … absolutely defies reality.”
This has the whiff of Hitler ordering non-existent divisions to attack Russia.

Apparently Obama's, Hillary's, and Kerry's plan is to show how much we're #Winning by allowing them to murder us at whim.

JOHN KERRY APPARENTLY MISSED OBAMA’S MEMO ON THOSE EVIL OFF-SHORE TAX HAVENS:

Seems the Secretary of State and his wife, heiress Teresa Heinz, have millions of dollars invested in at least 11 off-shore tax havens, mostly registered in the Cayman Islands

Rules are for the little people.

The Humiliation - Mark Steyn

There's no point pretending the illegal seizure and release of America's sailors is anything other a huge propaganda victory for Iran - and a humiliation for the United States. Insofar as there was a strategic calculation behind Obama's outreach to the mullahs, it was that the nuclear deal and the lifting of sanctions would incentivize the Islamic Republic to start behaving like any other house-trained member of the community of nations. In other words, they'd stop pulling this stuff.humi

As it was, Joe Biden and John Kerry could not resist bragging that the swift resolution of this situation was testament to the new hunky-dory Washington-Teheran relationship. Vice-President Biden:

They released them, like ordinary nations would do. That's the way nations should deal with one another. That's why it's important to have channels open.

Secretary Kerry:

I'm appreciative for the quick and appropriate response of the Iranian authorities... and I think we can all imagine how a similar situation might have played out three or four years ago.

We don't have to imagine how a similar situation might have played out, you botoxicated buffoon, because it's played out before, with mind-numbing regularity. This time round they seized ten US sailors. Nine years ago they seized 15 Royal Navy sailors and Royal Marines. One of the Brits was of the female persuasion. Here's what I wrote in 2007:

The token gal was dressed up as an Islamic woman...

Does that sound familiar? Why, golly, here we are in 2016, and this time round the token US gal was also made to wear a hijab.
...

Which is marginally less insane than the Biden-Kerry line that illegally seizing foreign sailors, forcing them to their knees and to submit to the dress codes of someone else's religion, using them for propaganda videos and making them issue public apologies testifies to how the new Iranian-American friendship is just peachy and going gangbusters.

In fact, the Iranians are doing exactly what they've always done. They got their nuclear deal, and it's business as usual. The only difference is that, a decade ago, they did it to America's allies but they never quite dared to do it to America itself.

Now they do.

Read the whole thing.

The Rich

The "rich" are never people like the Clintons, who acquired their wealth by the sweat of their brows, toiling in the harsh icy policy-mines of Davos. They're not the guys who make a bundle off some clever bit of tech, sell the company, then pledge to spend a fraction of their fortune on outfitting polar bears with inflatable vests to help them survive their imminent inundation in the boiling waters of the Arctic. They're not people like John Kerry, who married his way into a pile of money derived from a ubiquitous condiment; they're not people like Apple CEO Tim Cook, because c'mon, he's gay. They're not the Kennedys, because the Kennedys could strike oil on their Hyannis Port compound, pay African orphans a dollar a day to work the pumps by hand, build a pipeline that ran through a protected Monarch-butterfly preserve, and the media would still hang halos over their heads because JFK was martyred in Dallas by a free-floating toxic cloud of right-wing hatred that inhabited the brain of a well-meaning Marxist.

These are rich people, but they're good rich people, because you can imagine any one of them writing a check to Planned Parenthood with the words "keep up the excellent mammograms" in the memo line.

State Department Officially Calls Iran’s Forced Sex Change Surgeries ‘Confirmation’

A report issued Thursday by the Department of State repeatedly refers to sex reassignment surgery in Iran as “gender-confirmation surgery.”

Speaking at the release of the State Department’s annual human rights report, Secretary of State John Kerry said of the designation that “There is nothing sanctimonious in this,” emphasizing the need for “humility” in the face of the U.S.’ own racial inequality. The State Department did not respond to a request for clarification by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Iran has a well-documented record of coercing gay and lesbian people into having the gender reassignment surgery, that is, disrupting rather than “confirming” the gender identity of hundreds per year. Since homosexuality can be punishable by death in Iran, known homosexual men tend to accept the government-subsidized surgery to become women, and vice versa.

Air Force for one: Massive military transport plane that usually carries 100 troops picks up US Secretary of State John Kerry to bring him home after he breaks his leg cycling

Thanks to Bud Norman (Break a Leg, John) we had an opportunity to read about how the spindly-legged, 71 year-old John Kerry, was taken back to the US in a C-17 designed to carry 100 troops.

An Air Force C-17 transport aircraft carrying US Secretary of State John Kerry took off from Geneva on Monday

From press reports it seems that the elderly Kerry was accompanied on his ill-fated bike ride by an entourage that included his personal staff, a motorcade, paramedics as well as photographers when he fell on a flat part of his short ride.

A concise summary of John Kerry's trip to the Middle East

Kerry’s stop in inconsiderate Cairo was part of a trip to the Middle East to attempt negotiation of a cease-fire between Israel and the Hamas terror gang of Gaza, and nothing about it makes sense. The mission is unlikely to succeed, would be harmful to the region’s chances of lasting peace if it did, and will further weaken America’s standing the world in the process.

Oh, amd Kerry was obliged to be "wanded" with a metal detector before getting an audinece with the Egyptan leader.  He should have been told to take off his shoes.

John Kerry threatens to bore the world to death with excruciating first speech as Secretary of State

John Kerry kicked off his tenure as Secretary of State with a lecture at the University of Virginia in which he calls the US congress a bigger threat than emerging China or Middle East instability. The UK Telegraph's Nile Gardiner:

Kerry has ended up in Foggy Bottom instead of the Pentagon, but if President Obama’s plan is to bore America’s allies to death he’s clearly succeeding. The former Senator’s first speech as Secretary of State, delivered earlier today at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, was so excruciating that students were probably pleading to be released. It has to be one of the dullest lectures on record by a senior U.S. official, making Madeleine Albright’s speeches sound like the Gettysburg Address in comparison. Not only was it exceptionally lethargic, it was also full of badly written clichés put together by a speechwriting team that would be better suited to penning obituaries for The New York Times.

Redefining 'Swiftboating' and Rewriting History

If the words "swift" and "boat" must be combined and turned into a verb, then let us insist on its proper use. The word as a verb originates from the campaign undertaken in 2004 by the Swift Boat Veterans in response to the John Kerry presidential candidacy. The word means, or should mean, the exposure of a fraudulent autobiography of one seeking political office or public influence. It is the correction of a personal and professional record that has been selectively and dishonestly compiled, as the Swift Vets did so effectively to that of John Kerry.

Although swiftboating may be a neologism, there are other recent examples of this phenomenon. Justus Reid Werner, in a seminal Commentary article, exposed the fraudulent life story created by Edward Said to advance his political agenda. Dan Rather's macho claims to be an "ex-marine", when he did not finish marine basic training, were also revealed to be fraudulent. This is swiftboating in its truest sense.

The Left is now redefining and, therefore, misusing the term swiftboating, and this misuse has become one of the many notable aspects of the 2008 presidential campaign. Democratic candidates and their partisans in the blogosphere use this word to mean smearing their candidates for public office with lies and innuendo. For some blog sites, the word is now synonymous with "screeds," the "politics of smear and fear," and "character assassination of proven effectiveness." Recently, some candidates have angrily declared that they will not be swiftboated.
...
Every time that a candidate today complains of being smeared by calling it swiftboating, he seeks the same exoneration or immunity that this redefined word gives to John Kerry, and, perversely, that candidate reinforces the false impression that the Swift Vets did something dishonorable in their campaign against John Kerry and in Vietnam years ago.

This clever manipulation of the meaning of words and its exoneration of John Kerry has much broader implications. In the 1970s John Kerry led a high profile movement that not only defamed American servicemen as crazed killers, but Kerry and his real "band of brothers" also successfully pushed policies that had truly genocidal consequences in Southeast Asia. To exonerate John Kerry is to exonerate his movement and all who participated in it for their role in the genocide. It is to whitewash all of them from the consequences of their actions. (It also, peremptorily, excuses them of their behavior in the current war.) For them, to raise issues or to expose these facts is now to be summarily dismissed as swiftboating in this newly pejorative sense. So, down the memory hole is flushed another sad chapter authored by John Kerry and his ilk. Oh well, they were only a few million Asians; and history is conveniently sanitized.

John Kerry and the movement that he led have demanded and, for the most part, received a free pass for over a generation. They even had the effrontery to demand a memorial celebrating the "bravery" of their movement back here in the United States where they so heroically endured the hardships of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. In 2004 the Swift Vets made them pay a little for that otherwise free pass by setting a small part of the record straight. This is the meaning of swiftboating, and we should demand more of it. All we have to lose are the dishonest autobiographies from our self-serving political class.

It has been three decades, but Kerry still denies his crimes.

Michelle Malkin has posted a video of John Kerry being confronted by Jason Mattera of the Young America"s Foundation. I have seen a comment that this is not something that "we" should do because it is disrespectful. Watching the video, I find Jason is actually respectful. He does not shout or rant; he is less confrontational than many reporters in the White House press corps. In fact, he is very professional.

Crybaby Kerry and Boone Pickens

Most informed Americans have heard about "anger management counseling." It is a widely prescribed therapy for those who lose their temper uncontrollably in public or in private or while watching the Hon. Henry Waxman pretend to be the late Andrei Vyshinsky, prosecutor at the Moscow Show Trials. Well, during the past few days I have been following the Hon. Jean-Francois Kerry's (D-Mass.) controversy with Boone Pickens, and I believe I am in need of "laughter management counseling." Every time I think of this ponderous stone-headed senator bellowing phony pieties, I suffer a dreadful agitation in the funny bone. I only hope that my health insurance is applicable.

As reported late last week, billionaire investor and environmentalist Boone Pickens, during an address at The American Spectator's 40th Anniversary Gala, promised to pay $1 million to anyone who could find error in the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads, which he helped bankroll in 2004. The ads were produced to expose the braggart Kerry's incautious claims about his service during the Vietnam War -- that would be the war Kerry participated in briefly before coming home and traducing his fellow comrades in arms with vicious lies and distortions before the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. Remember his more recent claim that he supported our war in Iraq before he opposed it? Inconstancy is in his DNA.

Pickens is perplexed that the majority of Kerry's fellow Swift Boat pilots from Vietnam, who considered Lt. Kerry a ham and a fraud while serving with them and a louse when he maligned them, have been made out to be liars. In our political culture, polluted as it is by liberal bugaboos and shibboleths (we call it the Kultursmog), "Swift Boat" has become a hate term not unlike "McCarthyism." In the Kultursmog it has come to mean destroying a person by misrepresenting the person's record. But the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth did not misrepresent Kerry's hoked up record, not in their ads, one of which presented a tape of Kerry's lurid testimony before the Senate. Pickens knows the ads were accurate, and he wants to demonstrate to the American people that they were. Send him the errors in the ads, and he will send you a cool million.

His challenge was not out in the media for more than a few hours than the Great Massachusetts Braggart responded with a letter to Pickens. Typically it is rude, beginning brusquely with "Mr. Pickens," no Dear Mr. Pickens for Kerry. The letter is also delusional. Kerry writes as though by acknowledging Pickens's challenge he is entitled to the $1 million. "While I am prepared to show they," Kerry writes of the Swift Boat Veterans, "lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false. I am prepared to prove the lie beyond any reasonable doubt." In Kerry's next sentence he tells Pickens where to send the check. I kid thee not.

Kerry's presumptuous letter has gotten plenty of attention in the media, but nowhere have I seen it pointed out that Kerry has offered absolutely no evidence that his Swift Boat critics lied. In fact, he has yet to state what the critics' errors might have been in their ads. Pickens responded immediately, politely asking to see the journal allegedly maintained by Kerry in Vietnam and "Your military record, specifically your service records for the years 1971-1978, and copies of all movies and tapes made during your service."

As I said earlier, Kerry was a shameless ham in Vietnam and he remains one. At this writing Kerry has failed even to reply to Pickens, perhaps with good reason, Pickens ended his letter by asking Kerry to make a "commitment. If you cannot prove anything in the Swift Boat ads to be untrue...make a $1 million gift to the charity I am choosing -- the Medal of Honor Foundation." Both men are very rich. Pickens made his fortune by years of brilliant investments. He is one of the world's leading authorities on oil. Kerry made his fortune by marrying it, twice -- most recently to a woman who made her fortune similarly, through marriage.

Kerry has been whining about the rough treatment he received from his former comrades ever since they exposed him in the 2004 election. All the guff in his letter is typical of him: boastful, presumptuous, sophistical. Henceforth, I think I shall forego teasing him about his Francophile pretensions by calling him Jean-Francois. Rather, I shall call him Crybaby Kerry. Moreover, I shall start a clock on The American Spectator's website (www.spectator.org) and let it tick until Crybaby Kerry supplies Pickens with his Vietnam journal, his military records, and proof that the Swift Boat Veterans lied in their ads. Oh, and let us keep the Crybaby Kerry clock ticking until he comes up with his $1 million for the Medal of Honor Foundation. Upon filing this column my Crybaby Clock will begin ticking at Spectator.org. Now if only I could get my laughter under control.

Liberals In Power vs. Liberals Out of Power

How dare you suggest that we in the freest nation on Earth live in tyranny. How dare you call yourselves patriots and heroes.

I say to you, all of you, ..., there is nothing patriotic about hating your country, or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government. There is nothing heroic about turning your back on America, or ignoring your own responsibilities. If you want to preserve your own freedom, you must stand up for the freedom of others with whom you disagree. But you also must stand up for the rule of law. You cannot have one without the other.

William Jefferson Clinton 1995

"This is not the first time in American history when patriotism has been distorted to deflect criticismand mislead the nation," warned Sen. Kerry, placing his courage in the broaderhistorical context. "No wonder Thomas Jefferson himself said: 'Dissent is the greatest form of patriotism.'

John Forbes Kerry

This is a good “gotcha” for those who are claiming that dissent is the highest form of patriotism. But I see a chilling overtone in Clinton’s speech.

Once the Liberals regain power, all the brave talk about dissent will disappear. Just as the “free speech” movement morphed into the suppression of speech and opinion so common on college campuses now that the radicals have tenure, the words of Bill Clinton will come back and the MSM will be cheering them on.

Even now, before the have captured the Presidency, would-be Stalinist like Henry Waxman are threatening Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other radio talks show hosts for daring to speak out in opposition to his ideas. And you can be sure that there will be no real opposition to having Conservative voices silenced by the MSM whose idea of two sides of a debate is the Left and the Far Left.

Media Matters Lies About Rush Limbaugh

John Gibson talks about the Left Wing Lie-Machine funded by George Soros. Today, we have a chance to fight back in places like talk radio, Fox News and the Internet. Two decades ago, lies like these would have become the "official truth."

Here's from Rush Limbaugh's own website. Anatomy of a smear.

And HERE are the real enemies of the troops, in their own words. Scroll down to read what Dick Durbin said, equating our soldiers to
Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags, or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others
...and Tom Lantos as he accuses General Patraeus of lying, saying about his testimony:
"I don't buy it."
...and this from Rush:
How about Jack Murtha blanketly accepting the notion that Marines in Haditha engaged in wanton murder of innocent children and civilians?

Of course, every war has it's stories of atrocities and some are actually true. Mackubin Owens led a Marine company in Viet Nam and comments on some of the atrocity stories that Viet Nam engendered.

And who can forget John Kerry's testimony to congress about our troops in Viet Nam. Before Congress he testified that soldiers
... raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam

And, he said, these were not isolated instances, but deliberate policy.

It's a good thing that John Kerry is a successful gigolo, because he is not successful as a man or a human being.

UPDATE: It now appears that ABC Reported on ‘Phony Heroes' Three Days Before Rush Limbaugh Did
Where was ABC when Media Matters was putting out lies about Rush?

Kerry Renames Boat. Funny Article By Howie Carr

If you thought Scaramouche was a pretentious name for Sen. John Forbes Kerry to give his 42-foot Nantucket gigolo boat, he’s gone and topped himself.

Liveshot has scuttled the name Scaramouche and rechristened it . . . Let It Be.

That’s right, the Beatles song. From Freddie Mercury to John Lennon. I’m telling you, you cannot make this stuff up.

Why “Let It Be?” My theory is the more appropriate Lennon-McCartney titles were taken: “Nowhere Man” and “I’m a Loser.” Not to mention “Fool on the Hill.”

This momentous nautical event happened last November, but apparently nobody noticed the official filing with the Coast Guard until now. The question is, Why change the name? A call to Kerry’s Boston office asking if there will be an answer (a line from the song, see?) was responded to with a brief e-mail:“I have no idea why he changed the name.”

But I do. First, though, we must stipulate the junior senator’s accomplishments. He is without doubt America’s most successful gigolo. He has stalked not one but two heiresses worth hundreds of millions. To John Kerry I say with awe: “Baby You’re a Rich Man.”

Thanks to your loaded old gold-digging second wife, that is.

“Can’t Buy Me Love” indeed. Mama T Heinz Kerry did exactly that. The first time Sen. Kerry realized how much dough she had, he began humming, “Got to Get You Into My Life.” When he saw her standing there, Kerry wanted to hold her hand. Or at least her bank book. When she said yes, he was feeling glad all over.

Soon she was singing, “Baby You Can Drive My Car.” Or, more precisely, her SUVs, all five or six of them, one for every mansion, which are located here there and everywhere. She gave him a ticket to ride - on her $35 million Gulfstream jet. She cut Liveshot in on 19 Louisburg Square on Beacon Hill and presented him with that multimillion-dollar painting to call his own. And now, with a little help from his (very few) friends, Kerry hangs on to this do-nothing job in the Senate. One tune he never has to croon to Mrs. Heinz, er Kerry, er, Heinz-Kerry, is “You Never Give Me Your Money.”

The Scaramouche, a Hinckley power boat that gets less than one mile per gallon of fuel, was just another boytoy toy Mama T bought him in 2002 with money from her first husband’s trust fund. Being John Kerry, he probably decided on the name Scaramouche without doing any research beyond hearing the Queen tune on an oldies radio station.

Later on, everybody checked out the real definition of Scaramouche. Here’s one from “Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable”: “A stock character in Italian farce. . . . A braggart and a fool, very valiant in words, but a poltroon.”

From “Benet’s Reader’s Encyclopedia”: “A braggart soldier.”

Well, Liveshot, if the Docksider fits. . .

When the 2004 campaign heated up, the Scaramouche was sent to dry dock, the Witness Protection Program of boats. Now it’s back and John apparently wanted a lame new name to reflect his latest boring hobby, the acoustic guitar.

“While My Guitar Gently Weeps?” Not quite. Those weeping are the poor fools forced to endure a set of John singing those wonderful protest songs of his ’60s youth. “Blowing in the Wind,” you know, like a wind turbine in Nantucket Sound. Where Have All the Young Men Gone? Mostly to the Sun Belt, to escape the high taxes imposed on them in Massachusetts by the likes of John Kerry.

But why rename the boat Let It Be? Well, he couldn’t take “Yellow Submarine.” That’s Ted Kennedy’s song.

“When I’m 64?” No way. I mean, that’s how old Kerry will be on his next birthday, Dec. 11.

But don’t worry, John. Even 64-year-old gigolos are still needed, at least as long as they can keep their hands off the younger local talent, if you know what I mean. If you ever get caught, though, it’ll be hello-goodbye, mostly goodbye. One again, you’ll be nothing more than a day tripper on the long and winding road, just like after you dumped your first heiress wife. What was her name? Julia?

Kerry as a Soviet Dupe?

From Powerline:
Earlier this week the Wall Street Journal published a powerful column by the former Romanian intelligence officer Ion Mihai Pacepa. The subject of Pacepa's column was the destructive effect of the left's intemperate attacks on the president. Buried in Pacepa's column is this intriguing paragraph:

During the Vietnam War we spread vitriolic stories around the world, pretending that America's presidents sent Genghis Khan-style barbarian soldiers to Vietnam who raped at random, taped electrical wires to human genitals, cut off limbs, blew up bodies and razed entire villages. Those weren't facts. They were our tales, but some seven million Americans ended up being convinced their own president, not communism, was the enemy. As Yuri Andropov, who conceived this dezinformatsiya war against the U.S., used to tell me, people are more willing to believe smut than holiness.

The themes identified here by Pacepa were of course products of the "Winter Soldier investigation" in which John Kerry participated. Kerry featured each of the themes identified by Pacepa in his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in April 1971. Pacepa's comments warrant attention.

The Genghis Khan reference is seared, seared in my brain as a John Kerry quote from those infamous hearings.

Pacepa's NRO column is more detailed and more devastating, with regard to Kerry, than his WSJ piece. If Pacepa is credible, John Kerry built his political career as a willing dupe of a hostile foreign power, the U.S.S.R. There was a time when such a history--especially an unregretted history--would disqualify a politician from prominence as a national leader; that time is gone, apparently.

From his column (click on the link for the whole thing, it's an eye opener).

As a spy chief and a general in the former Soviet satellite of Romania, I produced the very same vitriol Kerry repeated to the U.S. Congress almost word for word and planted it in leftist movements throughout Europe. KGB chairman Yuri Andropov managed our anti-Vietnam War operation. He often bragged about having damaged the U.S. foreign-policy consensus, poisoned domestic debate in the U.S., and built a credibility gap between America and European public opinion through our disinformation operations. Vietnam was, he once told me, "our most significant success."

The KGB organized a vitriolic conference in Stockholm to condemn America's aggression, on March 8, 1965, as the first American troops arrived in south Vietnam. On Andropov's orders, one of the KGB's paid agents, Romesh Chandra, the chairman of the KGB-financed World Peace Council, created the Stockholm Conference on Vietnam as a permanent international organization to aid or to conduct operations to help Americans dodge the draft or defect, to demoralize its army with anti-American propaganda, to conduct protests, demonstrations, and boycotts, and to sanction anyone connected with the war. It was staffed by Soviet-bloc undercover intelligence officers and received about $15 million annually from the Communist Party's international department — on top of the WPC's $50 million a year, all delivered in laundered cash dollars. Both groups had Soviet-style secretariats to manage their general activities, Soviet-style working committees to conduct their day-to-day operations, and Soviet-style bureaucratic paperwork. The quote from Senator Kerry is unmistakable Soviet-style sloganeering from this period. I believe it is very like a direct quote from one of these organizations' propaganda sheets.

Bruce Crandall Receives the Medal of Honor

The President's speech honoring Bruce Crandall is on line.

Major Crandall flew into the "Valley of Death" 14 times in one day delivering supplies and evacuating the wounded. The fire was so fierce that three helicopter he piloted were destroyed.

A far cry from the kind of person who leaves the field of battle after three months and three very questionable "paper cuts" and then calls those who he left behind a ravaging horde reminiscent of "Genghis Khan."
