A Majority of Voters Think Cheating Affected the Results of the 2020 Election

The Supreme Court may have refused to hear any challenges to the 2020 presidential election, but that may prove to be a huge mistake as a majority of voters believe that cheating affected the outcome of the presidential election.

According to Rasmussen Reports, “Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans believe it is likely last year’s presidential election was affected by cheating, a view shared by 30% of Democrats and 51% of voters not affiliated with either major party.”

Think about that. Nearly a third of Democrats admitted that they believe cheating may have impacted the result—meaning that they think Trump may have been the legitimate winner of the election.

Overall, a majority of all voters, 51 percent, believe it is likely that cheating affected the outcome—35 percent say it’s very likely.

From Glenn Reynolds: "May I suggest that this is as much due to the over-the-top hysterical reaction to criticism, and the censoring of critics, as to the criticism itself? Act like you’re hiding something, people will think you have something to hide. Act like you’re insecure, and people will think you’ve got something to be insecure about."

Shock Poll Shows Trump on Track to Win Reelection

News you won't see in the MSM

A new poll conducted by the Washington based Democracy Institute for the Sunday Express shows President Trump tied with his rival Joe Biden at 47 percent, but surpassing him in the electoral college 309 to 229.

These positive results for Trump come amid a constant drumbeat of negative media coverage in recent weeks that paints his electoral chances in November as virtually nil.

According to the shock poll, Trump is “on course to win the crucial swing states including Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin where he outpolls Vice President Biden by 48 percent to 44 percent.”

According to David Maddox, the political editor of the Sunday Express, the poll indicates that the Black Lives Matter riots have created a backlash that is helping Trump.

How popular is President Trump? Compared to who?

Surprise: He's polling better than the top European leaders.
Europe's Merkel, Macron, May less popular than Trump

President Trump’s approval ratings, often mocked by Democrats and the media, top those of Europe’s biggest three leaders, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Britain’s Theresa May and French President Emmanuel Macron.

It appears that the political split is global.

'Polls Darken for Democrats'

Hillary Clinton’s once formidable lead over Donald Trump in national and battleground polls is evaporating.

Trump has pulled into the lead in Florida and Ohio, two crucial states where he has trailed Clinton for most of the race, and several states that once looked out of reach for Trump — Colorado and Virginia, among them — suddenly appear competitive.

However,

He may still lose. After all, he has to fight not only a half-incapacitated Hillary, but a semi-sentient Bubba, the current president and first lady of the United States, the entire corrupt Democrat party and the holier-than-thou backstabbers on the rent-seeking Right who seek to maintain their position under the Progressive dinner table, feasting off scraps.

Oops.

Paul Ryan is not who we are

Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, 2012 Vice Presidential nominee, upholder of the Establishment flame, Big Man around Washington, has plummeted in the polls.

A poll of likely Republican voters shows House Speaker Paul Ryan well below 50 percent in his race to maintain his seat in Wisconsin’s first Congressional district.

The poll was conducted by P.M.I., with 424 respondents randomly called from a file of 11,000 likely GOP primary voters. It shows that with one month remaining before Wisconsin’s August 9th vote, Ryan is polling at 43 percent.
Ryan’s challenger, Wisconsin businessman Paul Nehlen, is polling at 32 percent.
The Nehlen campaign notes that Ryan’s 43 percent “represents a drop of more than 30 points since the Nehlen campaign began polling likely Republican primary voters earlier in the year.”

Incumbents rarely lose because they have the benefit of the political machine every incumbent has.  Plus familiarly with an office holder gives them an advantage with the public unless they do something really wrong.  In this year of anti-establishment political ferment, Ryan has made a serious error: he uses Obama’s moral poses.

The pose of moral one-upmanship expressed by the phrase “that’s not who we are” is one of both Obama’s and Ryan’s favorites.  Want to control illegal immigration?   “That’s not who we are” is not going to cut it even with independents, much less Republicans.  Want to take a look at the damage free trade agreements have done to working men and women?  “That’s not who we are” is the reason thousands are unable to find work because their jobs are going to foreign labor.  Want to pause the influx of thousands of Muslims from the Middle East until we can figure out which ones want to kill us?  “That’s not who we are” is not and argument, it’s a put down.

“That’s not who we are” dismisses the concerns that people have about the direction of the country.  It’s not designed to make a case, it’s the equivalent of “Shut Up! He Explained”

Of course Ryan is a leading opponent of Donald Trump which is not sitting well a lot of Republicans.

Former Ryan supporters are very disenchanted.

Sonya Naryshkin from Whitewater, Wisconsin had been a Ryan supporter for years before he began championing policies, which, she says, go against the interests of Wisconsin voters.”I had been a big supporter of Paul Ryan’s, I have pictures with him, I’ve gone to Washington to visit with him,” Naryshkin said. “But then he started supporting things that are not in line with our Constitution. He turned to the dark side. He’s totally subscribed to the New World Order.”

Naryshkin, who now supports Paul Nehlen, noted that this is the first year she will not attend the annual Wisconsin GOP fundraising cruise, which Ryan regularly attends.
Nick Gianitsos, a physician from Darien, Wisconsin, said that he too had originally been a big Ryan supporter.
“We hosted fundraisers for Paul Ryan for many years. I was there at the beginning with him back in 1998,” Gianitsos said. “Ryan would say something in this district and he’d sound like the second coming of Calvin Coolidge, but then he’d go to the land of the Lotus Eaters and all of these things [Ryan had said] would change, and suddenly we’d get TPP, and globalism, and crony capitalism.”
Gianitsos noted that Wisconsin voters have “seen a distinct change since Ryan has become Speaker of the House.”
“We now see the Paul Ryan smirk,” Gianitsos said. “We now see him talking down to us instead of being our neighbor. Ryan says [things like], ‘It’s not in our DNA.’ And ‘this is not who we are.’ [But] this is who we are. Isn’t he supposed to be one of us? I think he’s gotten this bravado ever since taking the Speakership maybe because he thinks he’s more insulated from the people because he’s the Speaker. You know, [he thinks] ‘who’s going to un-elect the Speaker?'”
Naryshkin agreed, explaining that since Ryan became Speaker, “the doors of communication to Ryan have totally closed.”
It would not be the first time that a Speaker has lost an election.  Paul Ryan may think there are bigger things in his political future.  Based on these polls and the reaction of his constituents, he's in for a big surprise.

Latest poll shows Trump and Clinton in a dead heat.

Democrat Hillary Clinton has 42 percent to Republican Donald Trump's 40 percent - too close to call - as American voters say neither candidate would be a good president and that the campaign has increased hatred and prejudice in the nation, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

This compares to results of a June 1 national poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Clinton edging Trump 45 - 41 percent.

The Myth that 99.9% of Muslims Reject Extremism

A number of well-intentioned people, including President Barack Obama, have claimed that the Islamic State and other militant radical groups have practically no support among Muslims. Indeed, in a televised interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, in response to a question of why his administration avoided using the phrase, “Islamic terrorists,” the president responded the vast overwhelming majority of Muslims reject radical interpretations of Islam, distinguishing between radical extremists and the remaining “99.9 percent of Muslims.”

I understand the desire to believe this and the optimism expressed in such a claim, but what is the evidence for it?

Polls?

Polls, as imperfect as they may be, certainly do not show this to be the case. A majority of Muslims do reject radical extremism, but the numbers that do support extremism, as found in polling, are nowhere near the tiny minority claimed by President Obama and others. This is significant because when we are considering even small percentages of the Muslim world, then we are discussing tens, if not hundreds, of millions of people.

Consider the efforts of the respected Pew Research Center, a non-partisan polling organization that carries out highly regarded surveys of religion in a number of Muslim majority countries. In their 2013 poll of Muslims in eleven countries, they found only 57% had an unfavorable view of Al- Qaeda and only 51% had an unfavorable view of the Taliban.

This is nowhere near the 99.9% claim of Muslims who supposedly reject extremism as argued by President Obama and others. Instead, it is only a little bit over half of the Muslim populations surveyed, which include populations in the nations of Turkey, Malaysia, Egypt, Senegal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Jordan, Tunisia, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Territories. Indeed, 13% of respondents declared outright support or favorability for Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, while others claimed they “didn’t know” how they felt about the groups or refused to answer.

The Pew numbers showed remarkable consistency when they came out with their 2015 poll that focused on Muslim responses to the “Islamic State” (e.g. ISIS, ISIL, Daesh). In an average of ten primarily Muslim nations sampled in that poll, Pew demonstrated alarmingly high percentages of either outright support for IS or many respondents who “didn’t know” how they felt about the terrorist organization. In heavily populated countries, the Islamic State had the highest levels of support. In Pakistan, for example, 9% expressed outright support for IS, while 62% claimed they didn’t know how they felt about the group, this despite widespread awareness of the Islamic State in Pakistani madrassas, media, and in popular culture. Consequently, 72% of those surveyed in Pakistan either supported or did not know how they felt about the Islamic State while only 28% outright condemned the group. Again, this is a far cry from the 99.9% of Muslims that we are otherwise told reject extremism. Support for extremism in Pakistan may be even higher than these numbers suggest, as the Taliban, with deep roots in Pakistan, and Islamic State are enemies, so it is possible that some of those condemning the Islamic State are doing so because they are supporters of the Taliban.

Because, as Rush Limbaugh pointed out:

IT'S NOT ABOUT TRUMP. IT'S BECAUSE WHAT WE HAVE NOW IS NOT WORKING FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS.

CALLER: Hey, Rush. Thanks for having me. I just want to say, we need to effect change, and the only way to do it is to get Trump in office. He is the only person who has a pair that's willing to talk about the issues. And, you know, I've always been a lifelong conservative. I'm a W fan. I know a lot of people are. The last Bush president, I loved him. His brother's a nice guy, but he doesn't have a pair. We need someone to speak out. I'm 34, and I agree with that 28-year-old caller, the Millennial. We need change.

RUSH: And that's what Trump... Well, now, let me ask something else he said. He said -- and I thought this was key. He said, "Everybody and their uncle..." I saw it discussed today that the establishment types, the political professionals, can't believe that Trump survived his opening comments about Mexicans when he announced his candidacy. They can't believe he survived what he said about Megyn Kelly, and they can't believe that he survived what he said about John McCain. This 28-year-old guy told me yesterday, "Rush, to understand this you have to understand it isn't about Trump. He happens to be the vessel. He happens to be the opening, whatever. But we're not interested in destroying Trump because we don't want to destroy what Trump represents." Is that pretty much true for you, too?

CALLER: That's exactly it. We need... It's obviously not working. Things aren't working. Something needs to change, and it's not... I mean, there are things where I kind of look at Trump and I say, "Boy, really? Should he have said that?" But he's the only person to drive us to making change, and I'm a results-driven guy. You know, I work logistics, and we need to effect change. We need to see results. So the fact that he says off-the-cuff things, though it's not right, I think your average voter... You know, we're all imperfect, right? We all have our things. He's gonna do stupid stuff, but he's gonna drive us to those results.

RUSH: Right.

CALLER: That's the only way to effect change.

RUSH: You talk about... Thanks for the call. You talk about things are not working. I disagree. I think the Obama machine is well-oiled. I think the Obama administration is clicking on all cylinders. I think there's nothing stopping 'em. I don't think they're leaking oil. I don't think they got any carburetor problems. I think their jet engines are on afterburner and there's nobody stopping 'em. It's working better than they ever dreamed it would, and now Obama's so energized he's gonna go the executive action route because he's been told effectively that there's no attempt to stop him here. Things are working for Obama, and that just adds to the frustration and the fear and the anger of people who don't want it.

It looks as if Trump is persuading his detractors

From the Washington Post via Instapundit.

Donald Trump, as I tell anyone who asks, defies virtually every political rule I thought I knew.

There's no better encapsulation of Trump's up-is-down-and-down-is-up effect on presidential politics than a new number from the just-released NBC/Wall Street Journal poll.

The question asked is a simple one: Could you see yourself supporting [fill in the blank candidate] for the Republican nomination for president? When NBC/WSJ first asked GOP voters that question about Trump last March, fewer than one in four (23 percent) said they could see themselves voting for him.

To say that things have changed since then is an understatement on the level of saying Tom Brady is a pretty decent quarterback. Witness this chart built by the indispensable Philip Bump.

It's hard to overstate how remarkable it is that the number of Republicans who could see themselves backing a Trump nomination rose 42 — FORTY TWO — percentage points in 10 months. It's all the more remarkable when you consider that Trump was already totally known by the GOP electorate last spring, meaning that his gains since that time are almost entirely the result of him changing peoples' minds. And it's something else entirely when you consider how Trump got here — a mixture of bravado and anger sprinkled with a dose of controversial statements and seeming gaffes that would have felled lesser candidate many times over.

Trump's improvement on the "could you see yourself voting for him" question is amazing enough in a vacuum. When you compare his rise on the question to, say, how Jeb Bush has fared on it, you begin to appreciate the true remarkableness of what Trump has done. Again, this chart comes courtesy of Philip Bump.

If you need a single chart that tells the fact-really-is-stranger-than-fiction story of the Republican race to date, that's it.

What a race. I can't even begin to wonder what's coming next month when voters actually start voting.

There are still a lot of haters and doubters out there.  But it appears that Trump is proving another old adage about elections wrong.  It was said that you could not overcome high negative ratings.  If people start off disliking you they will not change their minds.  This appears to be another political rule that Trump is about to break.  If this continues, in the Fall we will have a Democrat rout followed by a Trump Presidency.

Trump More Than Doubles National Lead in NBC/WSJ Poll

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Donald Trump has more than doubled his national lead in the Republican presidential race ahead of Thursday night's GOP debate here, according to the results from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Trump is the first choice of 33 percent of national Republican primary voters - his highest percentage in the poll. He's followed by Ted Cruz at 20 percent, Marco Rubio at 13 percent and Ben Carson at 12 percent. Chris Christie and Jeb Bush are tied at five percent. No other Republican presidential candidate gets more than 3 percent.

Trump's 13-point lead over Cruz is an increase from last month, when he held a five-point advantage over the Texas senator, 27 percent to 22 percent.
