ANN COULTER: IT’S TIME FOR THE OTHER 13 CANDIDATES TO DROP OUT
At what point in Donald Trump's inaugural address do you figure the GOP establishment will finally grasp what's been happening?
...
Trump is a runaway hit with Americans for the simple reason that he's the only candidate saying anything Americans care about.
After the San Bernardino terrorist attack, committed by Muslim immigrants -- which followed the 1993 World Trade Center terrorist attack committed by Muslim immigrants; the 9/11 terrorist attacks committed by Muslim immigrants; the Fort Hood terrorist attack committed by a Muslim immigrant; the Boston Marathon terrorist attack committed by Muslim immigrants, and on and on -- Trump suggested a temporary pause on Muslim immigration.
The other candidates responded by attacking him viciously. Now, the eunuchs are duking it out over who has the most aggressive approach to ... fighting ISIS!
Asked why he called Trump's proposal "unhinged," Jeb! explained: "Well, first of all, we need to destroy ISIS in the caliphate."
Marco Rubio said: "The problem is we had an attack in San Bernardino," adding that "what's important to do is we must deal frontally with this threat of radical Islamists, especially from ISIS."
Ted Cruz said: "We need a president who understands the first obligation of the commander in chief is to keep America safe. If I am elected president ... we will utterly destroy ISIS."
Why are Republicans talking about starting a war in Syria to stop Muslim immigrants from killing Americans in America? Is it our job to straighten out Syria? Can't our government just stop bringing the terrorists here? If Rubio thinks he knows how to govern Syria, he's free to run for president there. (Except he'd have to stop talking about his dad the bartender because Muslims don't drink.)
Republicans love pointing out that all the gun restrictions proposed by Democrats after every mass shooting would have done absolutely nothing to stop that particular mass shooting.
But the GOP's demand that we take out ISIS would also have done nothing to prevent the San Bernardino attack. As we know from Jim Comey, the director of the FBI: Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik were planning a terrorist attack against Americans before ISIS existed.
It's as if there's a law of toughness conservation: The weaker a candidate is on protecting our borders, the more aggressively he talks about bombing foreign countries, a move known as "the Lindsey Graham."
....
Here's an idea: We let backward, poverty-stricken, misogynistic, clitorectomy-performing Third Worlders scratch out a living in their medieval hellholes, and just keep them out of our country. Also known as: the Trump Plan.
Except the fun parts when Trump was speaking, the candidates talked about almost nothing else at the debate but carpet-bombing the Middle East, taking out this leader or that group, sending American forces to train Sunni Arabs, touting the Kurds, announcing their specific strategies for defeating ISIS, giving perfect little answers about our nuclear throw-weights and the "nuclear triad" and correctly identifying the "good guys" and "bad guys" -- all of whom live 7,000 miles away from us.
When do we get to talk about Americans?
Only Trump seems to care. Asked about dictators running the Middle East, Trump said:
"In my opinion, we've spent $4 trillion trying to topple various people that frankly, if they were there and if we could've spent that $4 trillion in the United States to fix our roads, our bridges, and all of the other problems; our airports and all of the other problems we've had, we would've been a lot better off. I can tell you that right now ..."
The nice thing about having your own helicopter is you can see the terrain below. The rest of them keep bumping into one another, as if they're 9-year-olds trying to out-precocious one another on knowing unimportant military terminology and the pronunciation of foreign names.
As we learned from Spelling Bee champ Rubio, the "nuclear triad" refers to the fact that we have nukes on (1) the ground, (2) airplanes and (3) submarines.
Wow, isn't that fascinating? Having learned it, I now have to excise it from my brain, as Sherlock Holmes would, as useless knowledge.
Did FDR know how to change the oil on a landing craft vehicle?
These debates have turned Republicans into self-parodies of wonkery over common sense. Without Trump in the debate, the entire audience would have been asleep in 30 minutes.
Rubio lectures Americans that "we need to understand who ISIS is." Rubio needs to understand what a border is.
At this point, the most important question facing the Republican Party is: When Trump's the only one with the poll numbers to make the main stage at the next debate, what should he do? Card tricks? Juggle? Sing "Danny Boy"?

The View From The Rebellion
Daniel Henninger’s hymn to Paul Ryan and The Party of Governing in Monday’s Wall Street Journal is a great example of the power of the establishment. What’s interesting about the increasingly desperate attempts by the Ruling Class to clear away the pitchfork carrying insurgents is that they really don’t understand why they’re out there in the first place.
The Republican electorate is a cauldron of anger, principle, desperation and personal agendas. No one understands exactly what is going on inside the base, and that now includes Donald Trump, the great disrupter, who this week said he was mystified by Ben Carson’s rising appeal.
I would think that the first thing people would do if they are faced with an internal rebellion is to try to understand why. I can only conclude that they really don’t have a pipeline to the people in rebellion and have concluded that they are gripped by a form of insanity.
To help them out, here’s the view from the rebellion:
The Republicans went into the 2008 election by nominating the eminently electable and beloved-by-the-media, Maverick John McCain, war hero and the next guy in line. For some reason they lost the Presidency and both houses of congress. They blamed George Bush. Scared stiff of being called racists they rolled over for Mr. Obama bleating that they could not do anything because the country loved Obama, they were out of power and he had impeccably creased pants.
Preparing for the 2010 mid-terms they promised their constituent that if they could capture the House they could stop Obama by wielding the power of the purse. Still terrified of being branded racists they did not such thing – Lucy pulled the football and all the voters who went to the polls – the gullible Charlie Browns - landed on their asses.
So the Republican Party of Governing went to their stable of eminently electable candidates and produced Mitt Romney; Mr. Clean. Mitt was a great guy, handsome, "severely conservative," wonderful family man, successful business man and ended up losing to the man who presided over a moribund economy with high unemployment. Why? Because while the Chamber of Commerce loved him, there were not enough Chamber members. Mitt wasn’t talking to the working man in the working man’s language. He captured the all-important “moderate” vote that Republicans thought was their ticket to the White House. But for some reason the working man who was losing his job and his home to foreclosure wasn’t on the Republican’s radar and didn’t show up by the millions when it came time to vote. The Republican establishment takes its core constituency for granted even more than the Democrats do theirs.
Then the Republicans went to back to the voters and blamed all the bad things that were happening on Harry Reid. They told them that if we can only get rid of Harry Reid and capture the Senate was well as the House, then you’ll see us come roaring back. We'll repeal ObamaCare, stop illegal immigration and stop wasteful spending. We’ll have the power of the purse plus that bad old Reid won’t be able to kick us around anymore. So once more the Charlie Browns ran to kick the football voters went to the polls and once again they landed on their asses.
So now the refrain – you’ve heard it here again – Congress is not enough. “if only we had the Presidency, you’ll see this time will be different. Trust us.” Oh, and we have to make sure that bad old Hillary doesn’t win the election because that would be a disaster.
So the Republican Party of Governing teed up Jeb! Jeb with all the power brokers backing him, with gazillions in donations, with the Chamber of Commerce supporting him, the magic of his family name, his sterling reputation as governor. And along comes a billionaire developer and TV personality, with funny hair, making over-the-top comments who kicks the pins out from under him and relegates him to also-ran status. The Republican Party of Governing still hasn’t figured out what hit them. They never listen to Trump except to ridicule him. They don’t realize he’s a great communicator who connects with people despite the fact that he brags about his wealth, his planes, his buildings, even his wives. Despite his billions, his constituency are the kind of people who the Republican Establishment disdains. Republicans don't talk their language. They really don't understand their interests, their fears and their problems. If the truth be told, they're really ashamed of them because they're not "cool."
Now realizing that Jeb! is not catching on, they’re desperately trying to get him out of the race so they can go to their next pinch hitter, Marco Rubio. Good looking, silver tongued, great rags to riches story and sure to enact all the programs that the Republican Party of Governing has on their wish list.
They’ve modified their story-line a little. The Party of Governing is telling Good Old Charlie Brown that their earlier mistakes had nothing to do with their fear of Obama, their fear of the media and the fact that they were really not that unhappy with bloated government. The problem, they said, was that they has promised more than they could deliver. So, give us the Presidency Charlie Brown and this time – for sure – we’ll let you kick the football.

Things that "outrage" and things that don't

Such strangely differing standards of what should be met with indifference and what should be met with offense are by no means confined to the academy, or to those corners of the world only culture vultures still take an interest in, but also define the broader public’s approach to politics.
Thus The New York Times is outraged by the four traffic tickets that Republican presidential contender Sen. Marco Rubio has received over the past 20 years, but seemingly indifferent to the four brave Americans who were killed in an American consulate in Libya that failed to receive requested security from Democratic presidential contender and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton following her ill-fated war against Libya.
Thus the civil rights establishment is aroused to hash-tagging “black lives matter” and rioting in the streets when a black man is killed by police in even the most justifiable circumstances, yet indifferent to the vastly greater number of black men killed by other black men, and further indifferent when that horrible number inevitably increases after the hash-tagging and rioting inevitably hamper law enforcement efforts in poor black neighborhoods.
Thus it is that polite opinion holds the insane profligacy of the Greek government is not only to be tolerated but forever to be subsidized, while a corporation that prefers not to pay its minimum wage employees any more than they produce is considered outrageously greedy.
Thus it is that the mass executions of homosexuals in the Islamic world is met with sincere attempts to understand context and generally with indifference, while some Baptist confectioner’s reluctance to bake a gay wedding cake is met with widespread outrage.

NY Times lies. In other news, water is wet.
The NY Times is caught lying about how it found out about Marco Rubio and his wife's traffic tickets.
The lying liars at the Times denied it was fed to them by a Democrat opposition research team American Bridge. Except that the oppo research team is the only one to have pulled the records.
As an FYI, this is a Ford F-150, a pickup truck identified in the original NT Times story as an SUV.
It's a PICKUP TRUCK YOU STUPID HOBBITS!
Some people suspect that the Times is actually trying to get Hillary to drop out of the Presidential race:
You may be wondering: Why would the Times even bother with this story? They can’t seriously think a few traffic tickets are a scandal, especially given the way people drive in Florida.The only theory that makes sense is that the people at the Times are afraid Hillary Clinton will lose the general election, so they’re trying to drive her out of the race. And of course the Rubio story furthers that goal by establishing the precedent that spouses’ wrongful acts are fair game.

Marco Rubio: In immigration reform, legalization comes first
In a Spanish-language interview Sunday with the network Univision, Sen. Marco Rubio, the leading Republican on the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform group, made his strongest statement yet that legalization of the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants must happen before any new border security or internal enforcement measures are in place, and will in no way be conditional on any security requirements.“Let’s be clear,” Rubio said. “Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.”
It's good to know where he stands. He doesn't have to lie any more. Good thing the House will kill this bill.
