According to the Baltimore Sun he was taken to the Towson precinct and detained. Small was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, which carries a fine of $2,500 and up to 10 years in prison, and disturbing a school operation, which carries a fine of $2,500 and up to six months.

School Offers Counseling for Students Troubled by Pastry-Gun Incident

The teaches and the people who run this school should be dismissed and run out of town.  Tar and feathers needs to make a comeback.

As you know if you have been following this dramatic story unfolding in Brooklyn Park, Maryland, seven-year-old Josh Welch has been suspended for two days after he allegedly fashioned his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun.

 

And now that the brutal rampage of Josh with his Pop Tart  is under control, it's time, according to school administrators, to call in the psychologists to council the students traumatized by pastries.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

I am writing to let you know about an incident that occurred this morning in one of our classrooms and encourage you to discuss this matter with your child in a manner you deem most appropriate.

During breakfast this morning, one of our students used food to make inappropriate gestures that disrupted the class. While no physical threats were made and no one [was] harmed, the student had to be removed from the classroom.

As you are aware, the ... Code of Student Conduct and appropriate consequences related to violations of the code are clearly spelled out in the Student Handbook, which was sent home during the first week of school and can be found on our website, www.aacps.org....

If your children express that they are troubled by today's incident, please talk with them and help them share their feelings. Our school counselor is available to meet with any students who have the need to do so next week. In general, please remind them of the importance of making good choices.

Josh's dad seems to be the only truly sane person in this drama.

But Josh's dad is not happy saying, "I would almost call it insanity. I mean with all the potential issues that could be dealt with at school, real threats, bullies, whatever the real issue is, it's a pastry.., Ya know?"

These people are teaching Chicago's children. Any more questions?

Teachers Unions, Barack Obama and Editorial Writers Team Up To Insure Our Children Get Lousy Education

No Child Left Behind was always hated by Big Education because for the first time educational quality was being measured by output rather than input. Prior to its enactment during the Bush Administration the primary statistic used to “measure how our schools were doing" (?) was the amount of money being spent on them. No Child Left Behind created national testing standards that allowed parents and students to see what that money bought.  The answer is, not much. 

Given the death grip that the teachers unions and the educational establishment have on primary education, objections arose from the start. “We’re being forced to ‘teach to the test’” they howled. “It’s not our fault, it’s the rotten parents and the rotten kids” they proclaimed. And all along the line, Big Education resisted change. It turns out that many of those school districts who reported better test scores did so by cheating, and not just in Atlanta. Imagine that, little Johnnie wasn’t cheating, his teacher was!

Under the Obama administration, Big Education has won and the editorial writers are given them cover. An example is this editorial in today’s Virginian Pilot: No Child Left Behind runs into reality. Why yes, reality is that the Big Education is both big business but a major, major contributor to Democrat Party coffers, totaling about $5.4 million in 2008. 95% of teacher union contributions flow to Democrats and teachers are a major source of Democrat campaign workers.

The bottom line for the Education/Democrat/Media Axis is that No Child Left Behind was a noble but hopelessly flawed experiment and must be swept into the dustbin of history ‘cause nothing’s going to change. The Democrat answer will be to go back to the old playbook and throw more money at their contributors in Big Education.  And another generation of children gets wasted. It does help the Media Guy get a cushy job though,  so it's not a total waste.

Yeah, me neither, because the Tea Partiers are civilized and didn’t do any of that. Wisconsin’s leftist union thugs, not so much.

What do STOP, General Motors and the Wisconsin Public School System have in common?

STOP is the Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Project which closed 31 Head Start preschool centers throughout South Hampton Roads recently. STOP received $11.6 million in federal funds last year to operate Head Start through the end of March. According to the Virginian Pilot, STOP had revenue totaling $19.6 million, mainly from federal grants.

It is now under investigation for paying more than $100,000 in bonuses to key employees.

It has been said that General Motors was a retirement plan for auto workers that also made cars. It sounds as if STOP was a cash cow for its employees with a small subsidiary that taught 1600 young kids. And that the Wisconsin school system is a benefits program for its employees that also runs schools, poorly.
