Major cities like San Francisco, places with year-round climates that attracted millions of tourists and skyrocketing real estate values, proclaimed that they welcomed “diverse” lifestyles find their downtowns abandoned.  San Francisco’s largest hotel owner just walked away from its lenders.  That was after Whole Foods, Saks, Nordstrom, Office Depot, Abercrombie & Fitch, Disney, Crate & Barrel, CVS, Walgreens, Williams Sonoma, and T Mobile, among other big names, left or announced closing.
