Christians in Pakistan Hiding in Forest

Hundreds of Pakistani Christians have fled Islamabad following blasphemy accusations against a young Christian girl (who may have Downs Syndrome). While some have returned home, CBS reports, many Pakistani Christians are still living in a state of fear and uncertainty:
. . . Nooran Bashir, who had fled a few hours after the girl’s arrest, was back in her home Monday.
“I don’t know whether she burned pages of some holy book or not, but we all had to abruptly leave our homes to save our lives,” she said. She said one of her sons came back with her, but her other children were too frightened and she sent them to relatives.
She said Muslims asked the Christians not to worship in their church, and if they did, to refrain from singing.
Persecution and mob violence against Pakistani Christians, sadly, is something of a “dog bites man” story, and so often fails to make the news. That doesn’t mean that their suffering should be forgotten. But Christians are far from the only religious believers persecuted by murderous, ignorant hate in Pakistan. Shia Muslims, Ahmadiyyas and Hindus also live in fear because they follow the call of conscience.

If you think “welfare abuse” automatically means “black people,” then you’re a racist.

So we can ask ourselves the question: Why is Harold Meyerson So Racist?

Or Chris Matthews ....

Barack Obama, Global Has-Been

Brett Stephens in the Wall Street Journal recounts the failures of Obama's foreign policy:

Consider the record. His failed personal effort to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. His failed personal effort to negotiate a climate-change deal at Copenhagen in 2009. His failed efforts to strike a nuclear deal with Iran that year and this year. His failed effort to improve America's public standing in the Muslim world with the now-forgotten Cairo speech. His failed reset with Russia. His failed effort to strong-arm Israel into a permanent settlement freeze. His failed (if half-hearted) effort to maintain a residual U.S. military force in Iraq. His failed efforts to cut deals with the Taliban and reach out to North Korea. His failed effort to win over China and Russia for even a symbolic U.N. condemnation of Syria's Bashar Assad. His failed efforts to intercede in Europe's economic crisis. ("Herr Obama should above all deal with the reduction of the American deficit" was the free advice German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble offered this year.)

President Barack Obama.

In June, the Pew Research Center released one of its periodic surveys of global opinion. It found that since 2009, favorable attitudes toward the U.S. had slipped nearly everywhere in the world except Russia and, go figure, Japan. George W. Bush was more popular in Egypt in the last year of his presidency than Mr. Obama is today.
The American people will decide in less than 80 days  whether to make Obama's failures their own.  Stephens:

I tend to think that the buzz about American decline mistakes the mediocrity of the president for the destiny of the nation. But we have an election on, the outcome of which will decide whether one man's mediocrity becomes a whole nation's destiny. Mr. Obama is now the world's leading has-been, trying to revive a career on the strength of a talent that was greatly exaggerated to begin with. But a country that's willing to reward mediocrity with a second chance risks becoming a has-been itself.

I'm too young to be a has-been.

The “you didn’t build it” meme has permeated deep

Lots of people built successful businesses, contrary to Barack Obama who didn't, with guts, hard work and brains.

But Obama built the Chevy Volt, which stopped production .... again.

Why is Chris Matthews a racist?

Newt Gingrich exposes Chris Matthews as the ugly racist he is.

Why does he assume that "welfare queens" are black?  Why does he assume that only Blacks use food stamps?  The racist assumptions built into Chris Matthews mind are not just fascinating, they are an insight into how Liberals think that Black people are sub-human.

Obama Motors Fail

GM suspending Chevy Volt output.

The Chevy Volt was a political car from its inception. It is a perfect example of the Obama energy policy in action. Created by a company controlled by Obama, it was designed for political motives. It was built for political motives and it was sold to environmentalist … in the dozens. Who knew that there were so few environmentalists with $40,000 lying around idle who would buy a “car” that would run out of power once it got 38 miles away from an electrical outlet.

If Obama gets another 4 years, the Chevy Volt will be a perfect model for a Obama-America: a miserable failure.

At least two “Republican women for Obama” are Democrats.

John Hinderaker

It happens all the time in talk radio: a caller will say that he is a lifelong Republican, and will recall fondly how he voted for Ronald Reagan. Then he says that today’s Republicans have gone too far, and for the first time ever he is voting for a Democrat! These callers are nearly always lying. If you look them up, you likely will find that they are Democratic Party precinct chairmen.

The Obama campaign is trying to perpetrate the same deception. It has just released a video called Republican Women For Obama, which features four or five women who claim to be Republicans, or to have been Republicans until recently. But, of course, they are appalled by Mitt Romney–it is hard to say why, apart from a couple of discreet references to abortion, but did they really just now figure out that the Republican Party is pro-life? The ad is surprisingly ineffective, but it is also dishonest. At least one of the women who pose as “Republican women for Obama” is a long-time Democrat.

Her name is Maria Ciano, and BuzzFeed finds that she has been a registered Democrat in Colorado at least since 2006.

Wait a minute, here's her mother who is another one of the "Republican women."

The women in the video aren’t named, but she is Delia Ciano–none other than Maria Ciano’s mother

Is this an indication that Team Obama could not find even a handful of Republican women who are planning to vote for Obama just to have their birth control pills paid for by the taxpayer and provided by the Catholic Church? Are all of Obama’s “followers” fake? You have to wonder what is going on? Who are they trying to fool?

My wife, who is a Republican woman, has just left to attend the Republican convention in Tampa - her first - despite the fact that Tampa is in the path of a hurricane. I suspect that there is an electoral hurricane headed for Obama. After a big storm, there is always some debris to pick up but there is also a feeling of freshness, of cleansing … that the earth has been swept by the wind and washed clean by the rain. That is what the day after this election will feel like to most Americans.

Steyn: the war on children is real.

None of us can know what the world will be like four years from now, but one thing can be said for certain: An American woman will still enjoy her “right to choose.” Whether one supports or opposes abortion, the practical reality is that the biggest “threat” to your “right” to one is that you might have to drive a little bit further for it. Still, one should never underestimate the peculiar lens through which “progressives” view reality: The “war” on women boils down to Sandra Fluke, a 30-year-old schoolgirl, demanding Georgetown Law should pay for its students’ contraceptives — notwithstanding that the entire cost of that four-year contraceptive bill works out to less than the first week’s paycheck of a Georgetown Law graduate’s first job (average starting salary: $160 grand per year). War is hell. ...

Well, I’m not the CBO, but I’ll take a wild guess: Obamacare is going to be expensive on a scale unknown to European health systems. Look around you. Americans are not Swedes. Obesity rate in the United States: 36 percent; Sweden: 9.7 percent; Japan: 3.2 percent; China: 2.9 percent; India: 0.7 percent. Ours is a country where 78 million people (or about the entire population of Germany) are classified by the Centers for Disease Control as “obese” — including over 40 million women. If 40 million women have it, isn’t that a “women’s health” issue? Perhaps even a bigger “women’s health” issue than the right of thirtysomething students to free contraception? It’s the first thing the average American of, say, 1950 would notice if you catapulted him forward from his mid-century Main Street to today: not how amazing all these computer gizmos are, but how large and sick today’s Americans look.

As George Will pointed out this week, nanny-state solutions (such as Michelle Obama’s current campaign to get us all nibbling organic endives) don’t work: Overweight kids in schools with high-calorie junk food, 35.5 percent; overweight kids in schools that banned all the bad stuff, 34.8 percent. Indeed, the bloating of government, of entitlements, of debt, and the increase in obesity track each other pretty closely over the last four decades. If all those debt graphs showing how we’ve looted our future to bribe the present are too complicated for you, look out the window: We are our own walking (or waddling) metaphor for consumption unmoored from production. And, to the Chinese and many others around the world pondering whether America has the self-discipline to get its house in order, a trip to the mall provides its own answer.

So we can’t fight a war in Afghanistan, but we can fight a “war on women” that only exists in upscale liberal feminists’ heads. We can’t do anything about exploding rates of childhood obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, but, if you define “health care” as forcing a Catholic institution to buy $8 contraception for the scions of wealth and privilege, we’re right on top of it. And above all, we’re doing it for the children, if by “doing it” you mean leaving them with a transgenerational bill unknown to human history — or engaging in what Boston University’s Larry Kotlikoff, speaking at the International Institute of Public Finance in Dresden last week, called “child fiscal abuse.”

Read the whole thing.

RAAAAACIST!!!!!

The first comment by Sean M. at the Daily Caller.
I think we can all agree that any attempt to bring up Obama's birth, childhood, education, eating habits, drug use, friendships and associations, political party membership, voting record, written and/or spoken remarks, religious affiliation or attendance at worship services, travel, employment, business dealings, temperament, opinions, celebrity endorsers, fundraising, familial relationships, stances on issues, favorite color/tree/animal, or performance as POTUS in a way that is not designed to praise him, persuade peoople to vote for or donate to him, or show him in the best possible light is quite simply RAAAAACIST!!!!!

Really, it's just easier that way.
And by the way, the use of banners flown over Romney rallies seems to be a pattern for the Obama campaign. There was one flying over the rally for Romney in Norfolk when he introduced Paul Ryan as his running mate.

Jim Treacher caught the mistake in this one:
That’s the message in the skies above today’s Romney/Ryan rally in Powell, Oiho Ohio. Courtesy of Jan Crawford at CBS News, here’s a banner ad that’s being flown overhead:

Breitbart Predicts NBC's 'Racial Dog Whistle' Strategy For 2012

IF AN ARMED CITIZEN HAD DONE THIS, BLOOMBERG WOULD BE SQUEALING IN OUTRAGE

Glenn Reynolds:
I’m not saying they did the wrong thing, because I don’t think they did. I’m just saying that if it had been a private citizen, rather than a pair of government employees with government guns, this would be treated very differently by Bloomberg and the press.

The Republican Convention According to NPR

I took a road trip with my daughter this week and she tuned in NPR for a few minutes.  The section that caught my attention was a report on the upcoming Republican convention.  Here is what NPR believes is important for you to know about the Republican convention:
·         It’s a gathering of fat cat lobbyists
·         Buying the allegiance of Republicans
·         By renting out a whole restaurant for an entire week
·         With costs running into tens of millions of dollars
·         The Democrats are the good guys who tried to keep costs down and refusing to accept corporate donations but were forced into it by those corrupt Republicans so they set up a tax exempt charity for their convention.

That’s it.  That’s all you need to know about the Republican convention.  Oh, and there will demonstrators at the Republican Convention intent on disruption ... and they are Ron Paul supporters.  Got it?  Those peopleon the street waving Obama signs, drumming and "fighting the power" are Ron Paul supporters.

When NPR gears up for the Democrat’s convention I confidently predict that it will be a celebration of diversity, clean living and vows of monastic poverty that would make medieval monks proud.

The Romney Birth Certificate Joke

Romney’s birth certificate joke is incredible because it works on so many levels. Ann Althouse says:
Romney is saying — in so many words — I'm more truly and fundamentally American than Barack Obama. And the implication is: I want you to think about the ways that Obama hasn't fully embraced American values of freedom, capitalism, etc. etc.
Glenn Reynolds tweeted:
Romney joke not about birth cert. Way of reminding people of Obama's post-American approach to presidency. Will work.
The MSM is believes it’s a gaffe. Jan Crawford of CBS:
At Romney event, two reactions to his birth certificate joke: reporters gasped--and a crowd of thousands laughed and cheered.
Last night on FOX’s Special Report the liberal columnist for the Washington Post, Charles Lane, called it “tasteless,” “awkward” and an “unforced error.”

Lane apparently feels that there’s nothing funny about Barack Obama. He told Romney to play nice, leaving the jokes, mudslinging, distortions, lies and to the Obama camp (although he will never characterize them as that). They are so dim that they may think that Romney tried to appeal to the “Birthers.” That’s the problem with the MSM, they think they’re sophisticates, but they are not. They fall for bumper sticker slogans and the Cro-Magnon-crude political lies of the Democrats. You have to be stupid to do that, and their acceptance of it is proof.

And keep in mind that until he decided to run for President, Obama claimed to have been born in Kenya.

Question for Charles Lanes: was this just an unforced error?   Or was it the sort of claim that Elizabeth Warren made to appear more "authentic" or exotic?  This bio was around for 15 years even as Obama was collecting millions in royalties from his semi-fictional books.   Awkward, isn't it?  The MSM knows what to do with Obama's awkward gaffes: it ignores them.  Oh, that's just Obama being Obama .... moving on.

Romney is reinforcing many people’s feeling that Obama really isn’t “American” in the same way that  even many immigrants who came to America quickly became assimilated.  They believed in America’s freedoms, its promise for a bright future, its exceptionalism.  Obama doesn’t believe that America is special.  He has said as much.  In fact, he believes that America is fundamentally flawed and it is his destiny to change America in a such a way that people born a century ago would not recognize it, and people born a century from now would despise the way we were.

Watch the Special Operation OPSEC Education Fund video

From the Daily Caller, we have cowardly scum like Eric Boehlert accusing the Navy SEALS of lacking "guts":
Media Matters senior fellow Eric Boehlert said on Thursday that a group of former Navy SEALS “don’t have guts” after the special forces operators launched a media campaign condemning the Obama administration’s national security leaks.

Has President Obama Earned Your Vote?

Looks like top Obama bundler Jon Corzine won't be charged in the loss of a billion dollars of customer funds. How convenient.

No Criminal Case Is Likely in Loss at MF Global.

A criminal investigation into the collapse of the brokerage firm MF Global and the disappearance of about $1 billion in customer money is now heading into its final stage without charges expected against any top executives.

What a coincidence.

This is what a white collar criminal looks like.

Jon Corzine, the former chief of MF Global, at a House panel last year.

And here are the people who are keeping him out of prison.

Security Guard Shot at Pro-Life Group’s DC Headquarters

According to a Fox News report: “A suspect walked in and started yelling about things they (FRC) supported & opened fire.”

Sources told Fox New that after guard took away his gun, the suspect said, “Don’t shoot me, it was not about you, it was what this place stands for.” The suspect, a 28-year-old male from Virginia named Floyd Corkins, “made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard,” a source told Fox News.

AP later confirmed that Corkins is a liberal activist who volunteers with a left-wing group in the D.C. area.

According to another Fox News report
Sources also said the gunman may have been carrying a bag from Chick-fil-A, the embattled fast-food restaurant whose president came under fire from gay activists after he said he did not agree with same-sex marriage.
From Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit:

Now if he’d been a Tea Partier, it would be news. Or even if Brian Ross could have found a Tea Partier with the same name on the Internet . . . .
ANOTHER UPDATE: John Hinderaker: Thoughts on the Family Research Council Shooting.“Liberals should take a deep breath and re-think how they talk about public policy issues. If they are looking for haters, it would seem that the mirror is a good place to start.”

HACKUS MAXIMUS: Chris Matthews, Who Linked Palin to Giffords Attack, Skips Shooting at Conservative Organization.

HAVE YOU NO DECENCY? HuffPo attacks Family Research Council just hours after shooting.

And a last comment from a Glenn Reynolds reader ...

AMERICA’S WEIMAR MOMENT? Reader Kevin Hedges writes:
Many years ago in an undergrad World History course, the professor asserted that German democracy died not in 1933 with Hitler becoming Chancellor but years earlier. It died when roving bands of Brown Shirts beat up Jews in the streets, and the average respectable German citizen responded by looking the other way. I am reminded of that today with the FRC shooting and the MSM pretending it didn’t happen. Leftist shootings, vandalized Chick-fil-As, Black Panthers at voting stations, many, many churches burned and vandalized, media silence and the drumbeat of hate and demonization continues. I honestly wonder if democratic pluralism is dead. Some are openly saying it is. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
No one who has attended a Tea Party rally is likely to agree. However, it’s certainly true that there are people out there who would be happy if things came to such a pass. And someday, they might. But this is not that day.

According to the Democratic chairman of the bipartisan deficit commission it wasn't Paul Ryan that doomed the effort. It was Barack Obama.

Read the whole thing at Breitbart, but here's the bottom line:

Here's something else worth noting: Politico is now the leader in creating Team Obama's Party Line.

It's this kind of headline that makes me laugh out loud.

PoliticoPoll: Obama leads among non-voters

What do the Obamobots at Politico see as the upside? Let them tell you:
“This poll is a good news-bad news story for Barack Obama,” poll director David Paleologos said in a statement. “The good news is that there is a treasure chest of voters he doesn’t even have to persuade — they already like him and dislike Mitt Romney. He just needs to unlock the chest and get them out to vote.
So the Obama rooting section in the press believes that the non-voters will carry Obama to victory!  You have to wonder how scared they must be to carry a story like this.

Admit It, I Scare The Ever-Loving Shit Out Of You, Don't I?

The Onion:

When Mitt Romney selected me as his running mate, I knew the Democratic attack dogs would come out in full force. They would say I’m a right-wing ideologue. They would say my views on entitlement programs are far too radical. They would say putting me on the ticket immediately kills Mitt Romney’s chances of becoming president because I’m a liability. But if we’re being honest with each other—if we’re able to put aside the talking points for a few minutes and say what we’re all actually thinking and feeling—I believe we can acknowledge the real truth here.

I’m young, I’m handsome, I’m smart, and I’m articulate. And that scares the ever-loving shit out of you. You can pretend like you have this thing in the bag, but you know good goddamn well that this race just got real interesting, real fast.

Romney’s Best Speech of the Campaign

Thank you, Ohio. It’s good to be back in the Buckeye State. And it’s a privilege to be here with two good friends – your great governor, John Kasich and your outstanding senator, Rob Portman. Governor Kasich is doing a great job despite the head winds from Washington. As President, I can’t wait to work with Senator Portman to turn those Obama headwinds into pro-job policies that will help working families all across Ohio.
Tonight, we’re wrapping up our five-state bus tour to towns big and small. That trip reconfirmed to me just how important this election is – and why we need to change the direction of the country by changing the current occupant of the Oval Office.
We started out on the decks of a battleship in Norfolk, Virginia, where arbitrary and reckless defense cuts threaten our national security and 150,000 jobs. From there it was on to North Carolina, through towns that have lost thousands and thousands of manufacturing jobs. And yesterday we were in Florida, where families are still struggling with the Obama Economy.
The people I met on this tour – and the thousands of Americans I’ve visited in break rooms and lunch rooms, in school gymnasiums and on factory floors – are worried about their children, their jobs, their mortgages, and their future. And they are right to be worried.
All across the country, I’ve met people who are hurting. Some have lost their jobs; others work two jobs just to get by. Some have fallen out of the middle class and now they’re struggling to get back to where they started. The cost of living keeps going up, and they’re living paycheck to paycheck.
They are tired of being tired.
And tonight, I’d like to say to each of them: You have not been forgotten. We will not leave you behind. This is America. We are Americans. It doesn’t have to be this way!
Unemployment has been above 8 percent for 42 straight months. We will put Americans back to work!
Half of recent college graduates can’t find work or a job that matches their skills. We’ll get good jobs for our kids.
Nearly one out of six Americans are in poverty today. This is a disgrace we will end.
And President Obama has amassed five trillion dollars of debt – nearly as much debt held by the public as all other Presidents combined. We will end this moral failure.
After four years, it’s clear that President Obama’s policies aren’t fixing these problems, they’re making them worse. That is why Ohio will lead the way by electing a new President on November 6th.
For the first time, most Americans believe that our best days are behind us. This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don’t hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign. That’s because he’s intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. This is an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
In 2008, Candidate Obama said, “if you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters.” He said, “if you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.” And that, he told us, is how, “You make a big election about small things.”
That was Candidate Obama describing the strategy that is the now the heart of his campaign.
His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency. Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower.
This is what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like.
President Obama knows better, promised better and America deserves better.
Over the last four years, this President has pushed Republicans and Democrats as far apart as they can go. And now he and his allies are pushing us all even further apart by dividing us into groups. He demonizes some. He panders to others. His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then cobble together 51 percent of the pieces.
If an American president wins that way, we all lose.
But he won’t win that way. America is one Nation under God. American history has been a story of the many becoming one – uniting to preserve liberty, uniting to build the greatest economy in the world, uniting to save the world from unspeakable darkness. Everywhere I go in America there are monuments that list those who have given their lives. There is no mention of their race, their party affiliation or what they did for a living. They lived and died under a single flag fighting for a single purpose. They pledged allegiance to the United States of America. So, Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America.
This election is about restoring the promise of America. It’s a choice between two visions for our nation’s future. It’s about the challenges America faces. It is about a better tomorrow and a better future.
We don’t need more excuses. We don’t need more blame. We don’t need more small-minded attacks.
What we really need is a new president.
Voters deserve an honest debate. And that’s what Paul Ryan and I will give them.
Paul and I have a positive agenda that will lead to economic growth, to widespread and shared prosperity that will improve the lives of our fellow citizens. Our Plan For A Stronger Middle Class will get America back to work and get our country back on track.
We are offering solutions that are bold, specific, and achievable. We’re committed to helping create 12 million new jobs and to bring better take-home pay to middle class families.
My plan focuses on five things.
First, energy independence. We will achieve North America energy independence by 2020, by taking full advantage of our oil, our gas, our coal, our renewables and our nuclear power. Abundant, inexpensive, domestic energy will not only create energy jobs, it will bring back manufacturing jobs.
Second, we must give our workers and our children the skills they need to succeed. Our nation cannot continue to fail in public education. For too long, we have let the agenda of union bosses steer the agenda of our schools. It is time to put our kids and their parents and their teachers first, and the union bosses behind.
Third, trade must work for America. We are one of the world’s most productive nations. Trade creates jobs and raises take-home pay for American workers. We must open more doors for trade in Latin America, where there is a growing middle class. But when any nation cheats, as China has cheated, we must make sure that there are clear and compelling consequences.
Fourth, we will do what politicians in both parties have been promising for years, but have failed to do. We will cut spending, shrink deficits, and put America on track to a balanced budget.
Fifth, we will champion small business. Unlike President Obama, I won’t raise taxes on small business. I’ll make sure regulators protect the public, but that they stop killing our jobs. I will remove the crippling uncertainty that is preventing businesses from hiring.
That begins by repealing Obamacare. It’s bad for jobs and it’s bad for seniors. If the President is re-elected, he will succeed in raiding $716 billion from Medicare — from the trust fund you have paid into all your lives – to pay for Obamacare. He is taking your money to finance his risky and unproven takeover of the health-care system. He is putting Medicare at greater risk. He is putting health care at greater risk. He is putting your jobs at greater risk. We must not let Obamacare happen.
If we focus on these five areas – energy, education, trade, deficits, and championing small business – America’s economy will come roaring back to life. And we will finally see a comeback for America’s middle class.
My plan is based on proven principles that will produce real results. I spent 25 years in business, and I know what it takes for the private sector to create jobs. I know why jobs go away, what it takes to bring them back, and what we must do to make America the best place in the world for entrepreneurs and innovators and job creators. My five-point plan will bring more jobs and more take-home pay for middle-class Americans.
People ask me why I think the President’s policies have been such a disappointment. I just don’t think President Obama understands what it is that drives our economy.
America runs on freedom. Free men and women, pursuing their dreams, working hard to build a better future for their families. This is what propels our economy. When an American succeeds, when she wins a promotion, when he creates a business, it is that individual, that American that has earned it, that has built it. Government does not build our businesses, the American people do.
The American people also build the government. We pay for it with our taxes. We choose who will lead us with our votes.
Do you want a president who believes that your rights come from God, not from government?
Do you want a president who honors your right to pursue happiness, not as government commands, but as you choose?
Do you want a president who will work every day to bring us together, not tear us apart?
Do you want a president who will celebrate success, not attack it?
Do you want a president who will never, ever apologize for the greatest nation on earth?
With your support, I will be that President.
We are 84 days away from the start of the better future we deserve.
We need new leadership, and new ideas, and a new approach – because four years of failure is enough.
Paul Ryan and I believe in America – and in this election, we’re offering Americans a clear and honest choice. Every single day we’re going to do our part. And we need you to do yours.
I commit to you that I will be the President that this moment demands. I will work to strengthen our families, to rebuild our economy and to keep our military second to none in the world.
I ask you to commit like never before over the next 84 days. This election can come down to just one more vote. I ask you find that vote. Ask one more person to join our campaign. Ask one more person to join us who supported President Obama four years ago and didn’t get the change they deserved. One more vote can make the difference in Ohio. And Ohio will make the difference for America.
Thank you. God bless you. And God bless the United States of America.

I hope Stacy McCain won't mind too much if I steal from his site the entire text of what he calls The Chillicothe Address.

The moderators at the debates may well be a big plus for Romney.

Of course conservatives are upset by the decision to choose reliable Leftists of all sexes to moderate the upcoming debates. But we should not be upset. For one thing, there is not much to choose from. The members of the press range from the Left to those who still pine for Uncle Joe Stalin.. It’s probably better to have a moderator whose ideological bent is obvious (like Cathy Crowly telling us that by choosing Paul Ryan Mitt Romney had a death wish).

Why? The one thing that the nominating battle demonstrated is that the media is hated worse than narcs at a pot plantation. Newt Gingrich almost got the Republican nomination by picking a fight with the Liberal news media. The thing that the media personalities don’t yet realize is that they are hated. They think they are loved because they talk only to each other, they are paid big salaries and catered to by their sycophants. They have all the love and admiration that Louis XVI had just before the revolution carried his regime away.

Mitt Romney may just be one of the shrewdest businessmen of his time and you don’t get that way without becoming a student of what works. Don’t be surprised if he takes the lessons he learned watching Gingrich win debates by taking on the media. And it’s a lot easier to do when the media is openly hostile than if they go easy on you.

Americans, Canadians and Mexicans Agree: Obama is a Stupid Problem

Who was it who said “can’t we all get along?”  The answer is yes.  All we need to do is get rid of this stupid distraction, this historical mistake, this accident of history known as Barack Hussein Obama.

Let’s face it, Mexico doesn’t need the Obama administration shipping thousands of guns to its drug cartels.  It has enough on its plate coping with its own corruption that it doesn’t need Eric Holder sending guns over there just so he can hold a press conference showing American guns killed Mexican nationals.  Mexico is fortunate that it is not ruled by the Obama administration, and as a result it grew by 1.3% in the first quarter, a goal the US hopes to achieve in the full year.  Mexican illegals are actually moving back home because economic prospects are better in drug-war torn Mexico than in Obama’s America.

Canadians are rapidly becoming the largest oil and gas producers in the world and have had excellent relationships with the US since the battle on the Plains of Abraham (which the US lost).  So Canada doesn’t need an the aggravation of having their next door neighbor slam the door on oil exports.  But that is what Team Obama has done in shutting down the Keystone Pipeline which would have allowed Canada to ship its oil to US markets.  Instead, it will sell the oil to the Chicoms  who don’t have leaders that prefer to have its people pay $5/gallon for gasoline so they can pay off their billionaire bundlers and the kooks who want people to die so that Gaia can live.

And the American people.  Well, a little over half of them were suckers in 2008 and actually believed that the son of Marxists, the friend of violent Marxists and the product of affirmative action actually had a brain.  If he had a brain he would have used the stimulus to actually reduce unemployment.  Instead we have someone who has instinct and an appetite, something like the sharks I watched in a nature show on TV.  Like the shark, Obama is all appetite, all instinct, all wrong.

Thank God, Romney has come along to save us from this monumental mistake.  After the election the Mexicans, the Canadians and the Americans should be able to breathe a sigh of relief.  Obama may be America’s error but he’s the world’s problem.

Barack Obama was an accident of history

Roger Kimball believes that the national mood and the electoral momentum that swept Obama into officed is now sweeping Obama out.

In addtion to being the "first black president" and the horrible campaign that McCain ran, he made promises:
•Promises, promises, promises.
  • Obama was going to be ◦America’s first post-racialist president.
  • He promised that we would cut the annual deficit in half by the end of his first term.
  • He promised that unemployment would be under 6% by the end of his first term.
  • He promised that his $50 billion bailout of GM would restore the flailing carmaker to profitabilty.
  • He promised that the $800 billion “stimulus” package would create “millions”of jobs.
What we got instead:
We didn’t know in 2008 (although some of us suspected) that Obama’s promises were hollow.
  • We didn’t think that he would add more than $5 trillion to the federal debt in less than four years.
  • We didn’t know that he would run a deficit of $1.4-$1.5 trillion.
  • We didn’t know that the credit rating of the Untied States would be downgraded for the first time history. (Perhaps that is part of what Obama meant when he said, just before the last election, that he was only a few days away from “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”)
  • We didn’t know that the government’s takeover of GM would leave the car maker in the same uncompetitive hole from which the taxpayers’ money was supposed to rescue it.
  • We didn’t know that $800 billion in stimulus money would be spent primarily to line the pockets of Obama’s union supporters.
  • We didn’t know that, after nearly four years, official unemployment would be at 8.3%, or that the more comprehensive “U6” unemployment would be at nearly 15%, or that the U.S. economy would be growing at a sluggish, job-killing 1.6%.
  • We didn’t know that the man who promised a “post-partisan” administration would contrive to pass a deeply controversial and far-reaching package of legislation to bring some 20% of the economy under government control in the name of “health care reform.”

House Sues Holder

House Republicans on Monday asked the federal courts to intervene and force the Obama administration to turn over documents from the botched Fast and Furious gun-walking operation, escalating what had been a simmering constitutional crisis.

House Speaker John A. Boehner said President Obama and his team were ignoring a congressional subpoena — something the courts have long recognized as valid — and said lawmakers were left with no choice but to ask the third branch to referee.
“By stonewalling Congress and ignoring a contempt order, the Justice Department has left the House no choice but to take legal action so we can get to the bottom of the Fast and Furious operation that cost border agent Brian Terry his life,” Mr. Boehner said.

This was from the Washington Times.   Nothing yet in the NY Times.  The Washington Post carries an AP story.  Nothing in the LA Times yet.  The House of Representatives filing suit against the Attorney General must not be newsworthy.  I suspect that the alphabet networks won't cover it either.  Which explains

Kangaroo escapes with help of fox and boar

Criminal conspiracy uncovered ...

The kangaroos got out of their enclosure after a young fox snuck into the park and dug a hole next to the cage's fencing. Two of the three were then able to escape the park entirely through another hole dug by a wild boar under the exterior fence.

Those debate moderators.

Why do Republicans keep agreeing to such one-sided moderators for their debates?  Roger Simon Says there is something we can do.
But there is something we can do about it even at this late date: protest and protest loudly. In this manner, we highlight the bogus quality of the debates. Even if our candidates perform better than the opposition, continue the protest. They can talk about the economy. We can still protest the bias.Demand the moderators be removed even if they are not. As Churchill told us, never, ever give up. Someone might even be listening. And that someone is the American people.

A commenter named Scott gives us a idea how the  questions may go:

Moderator question to Obama: President Obama, what grade would you give Romney on his past experience in the greedy, corrupt business world of Bain Capital?
Obama (while gazing god-like into his teleprompter with his nose in the air): D-minus. Possibly an F. Yes…er…uhm…definitely an F.

Moderator question to Romney (nasally voice full of sarcasm): Mr. Romney, please explain why you killed that poor woman with cancer.

What Do You Know?

People constantly make the mistake that the people around them hear, read, see and are interested in many of the same things that they are interested in.

Wrong, buffalo breath.

We may have kept up with the news on Fast & Furious and one of Obama's most notorious lines, But Bud Norman at Central Standard Times discovers that when he used “you didn’t build that” as a joke, a woman who was there was puzzled. We are fortunate in that we get a great deal of information from multiple sources and fail to realize that there are still a lot of people who get their view of reality from a press that shields them from information that they consider to be harmful to the Left.
Her ignorance of the speech left us looking perplexed. After all, the speech had been widely reported by almost all of the media, touched off a week’s worth of debate among the chattering classes, been highlighted by a widely disseminated advertisement from the Romney campaign, and it’s “You didn’t built that” line had immediately become as iconic an epigram for Obama’s administration as “I didn’t have sex with that woman” had been for Bill Clinton’s. We had assumed that the phrase was by then as ubiquitous as a catch phrase from “Laugh-In” or “Seinfeld,” and that even the most obstinately ignorant Americans would be aware of it, so it came a surprise that such a sentient woman could have somehow been aware of it.

People do manage to avoid hearing of such things, though, and often enough that we really shouldn’t have been surprised by the woman’s apparently blissful ignorance. We can recall another conversation with a young fellow who boasted of how the current administration had gone three years without a single scandal, which he clearly regarded as a most remarkable accomplishment. We asked if he didn’t consider the Fast and Furious operation, with its Keystone Kops plotline and massive body count, or find the Solyndra fiasco, with its mix of high-minded “green” idealism and corrupt cronyism, to be scandals. We then threw in the resignations of admitted communist Van Jones and the Mao-admiring Anita Dunn, the Justice Department’s lax attitude towards black supremacist voter intimidation, and a few other choice contretemps, asking if he didn’t find any of these the least bit scandalous. He was not only unfamiliar with any of the stories, but dubious that they had happened at all, and angrily demanded to know if we had heard these scurrilous lies on the Fox network.
We may think that people who support Obama are aware of these issues and are simply ignoring them.  We would be wrong; they may often be the victims of the MSM.

Muslim Brotherhood completes Egypt Takeover (The MSM assured us this would never happen)

Via the NY Times which assured us, via its vaunted foreign affairs columnis and Mid-East expert Thomas Friedman, that the Muslim Brotherhood would not be taking over Egypt.  Note that according to this story, Mohamed Morsi is merely "a former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood."

CAIRO — President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt forced the retirement on Sunday of his powerful defense minister, the army chief of staff and other senior generals, moving more aggressively than ever before to reclaim political power that the military had seized since the fall of Hosni Mubarak last year.
Mr. Morsi also nullified a constitutional declaration, issued by the military before he took office on June 30, that had gutted the authority of his office. On Sunday, he replaced it with his own declaration, one that gave him broad legislative and executive powers and, potentially, a decisive role in the drafting of Egypt’s still unfinished new constitution.
The maneuvers by Mr. Morsi, a former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, cemented a major shift in power that began with his election in the face of intense opposition from the military. It received a decisive push this month after 16 Egyptian soldiers were killed in northern Sinai, deeply embarrassing the generals and weakening them politically.
Still, it was unclear on Sunday whether the generals would accept Mr. Morsi’s latest moves. One top general said the reshuffle was made in “consultations” between Mr. Morsi and the military. There was no sign of a backlash by the military on Sunday night, as the president’s supporters held large rallies in Cairo. And other figures from across the political spectrum hailed Mr. Morsi’s decision.
“We had been chanting, ‘Down, down with military rule,’ ” said Shady el-Ghazaly Harb, a liberal political activist. “Today it came true.”
Officials in Washington have been closely watching the confrontation between Mr. Morsi’s civilian government and military leaders, saying that negotiations over how to share power were going on behind closed doors. Neither the White House nor the State Department offered any immediate reaction to the command shake-up ordered by Mr. Morsi.
An Obama administration official said the United States was not warned that it was coming.

Any idiot could see this coming months ago, merely proving that the MSM (see the dean of American foreign policy punditry Thomas Friedman) are still not up to idiot level. Also Jeffrey Goldberg.tweets.

It is working out exactly as I have foreseen

Scrubbed : Photo of President Obama Removed Just Days After Book Exposes Agenda To Eliminate Suburbs

The substance of Obama’s audacious and transformative second-term plans, forged in close cooperation with Kruglik and Building One America, is now public. If anything, this move simply strengthens the case I make in the book that, at the Oval Office meeting in question, Obama and Kruglik were working to hide the federal money trail soon to be opened to Building One America. The most important presidential policy you’ve never heard of is hidden in that picture.
Obama is using your money to fundamentally transform America. If you don't want to live in a bankrupt, urbanized, defenseless country with a Marxist leaders, vote for Romney and Ryan.

The Democratic Leadership

Question: why do bootleggers promote laws against whiskey sales and why do madams want girls to remain chaste

Answer: it reduces the competition.

Donald Luzatto is inveighing again.  This time it’s about third party ads.  He’s terribly upset that the Chamber of Commerce is running ads against the Democrat, Tim Kaine, running for the open Senate seat in Virginia.

They're cheesy ads built around a cheap animated train trip through a Virginia that looks nothing like Hampton Roads, but for pure bald partisan hackery, they're undeniably effective. Kaine is, in the Chamber's crude iconography, a tax-raising, health-care-reform supporting, Obama-loving child of Satan.

Like the bootlegger denouncing the “demon rum” Donny  - and the whole MSM establishment – is losing its former unchallenged ability to lie about politics and doesn’t like it one bit.  The MSM taught the rest of us everything we know about crucifying the opposition with smears and innuendo.  They just didn’t know that they were giving their readers a tutorial on the subject.

Need a refresher course?  Walk with me back in time not too long ago when they crucified former Governor and Senator George Allen as a racist because of a comment he made to an opposition researcher who was stalking his campaign.

We only have to go back eight days to find one of the Virginian Pilot’s editorial writers Daryl Lease, demanding to see Romney’s tax returns because Daryl suspects … no I’ll let him tell you:

So what's in those returns?

Some folks, like Reid, speculate that Romney managed to pay zippo in taxes for multiple years - not exactly the sort of business prowess admired by most Americans.

Other folks wonder if Romney has had more cash stashed in sunny tax havens such as the Cayman Islands than already revealed.

I suspect that it's much more mundane than tax avoidance. If I were in Reno, I'd wager that Romney is hiding some really embarrassing business investments and charitable contributions.

Maybe he sank millions in a failed start-up company - say, "Seamus to the Wind" - to make solar-powered rooftop dog carriers for cross-country trips. Maybe R&D blew the investment on windshield wipers, and Romney is afraid of seeing all that in a campaign ad.

Or what if Romney donated money to Habitat for Your Vanity, a group that helps Americans build their very own multi-story car elevators?

See, this is why we should leave the political commentary to the professionals in the MSM, they’re so much more mature about it.  They don’t go in for “cheesy” and “cheap.”  These inhabitants of the house of ill repute would rather not have all that competition.

Why not start with a 20% excise tax on the film industry?

Darleen Glick at Protein Wisdom

Steven Spielberg, George Clooney and other 1%-centers of Hollywood just can’t get enough of Barry Obama and his plans to redistribute the wealth.
Well, guys and gals, time to put up or shut up. Time to lead the way or get out of the way. I mean, in the early 1950′s Hollywood continued to cheer on FDR’s 20% excise tax … right?

What Did the Rebel Yell Sound Like?

Man who claimed he was beaten for being gay admits he made it all up after police receive video of him hitting HIS OWN head after back-flipping off a curb

A young man who told police he was beaten up in a would-be hate crime appeared in court today admitting that he made the entire incident up.

The story of Joseph Baken travelled from Missoula, Montana across the country when a picture of his scratched and bruised face made waves on the internet.

Now, Baken has declared in court that he made the false police report after video surfaced of him attempting to do a back flip and failing.

There is a virtual epidemic false hate-crime accusations. But for some reason, when the next accusation surfaces, the same shills buy it. It's indelibly imprinted in the brains of the Left that gays, blacks and other Liberal "pets" are always and everywhere under assault. But note who actually does the assaulting.

Did Obama kill Brian Terry?

Using the logic of the Obama campaign accusing Romney of the death by cancer of Joe Soptic’s wife, we can with much greater certainty say that Obama killed Brian Terry.

Joe Soptic’s wife died of cancer seven years after Romney left Bain Capital, five years after his plant closed, four years after his wife lost her health insurance because she left the job that gave her health insurance, and also five years after he was offered a buy-out.

So if this makes Romney responsible for Soptic’s wife’s death, there is a much more direct line to Obama and the death of border agent Brian Terry.  The Obama Administration shipped weapons to violent Mexican drug cartels via Fast and Furious.  Those weapons were used to kill Brian Terry.  Ergo, Barack Hussein Obama killed Brian Terry.

Simple, direct responsibility for Brain Terry’s death, and the death of over three hundred Mexicans  including a plot to kill the police chief of Tijuana, lands right on Obama’s desk.  Someone should make an ad.

Fed study says Bush and the banks didn’t cause the Great Recession. The Fed did

... a book by Robert Hetzel, a senior economist at Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, says it wasn’t Bushonomics or greedy bankers or broken markets that caused the Great Recession. In The Great Recession: Market Failure or Policy Failure, Hetzel pins the blame squarely on the Federal Reserve and Team Bernanke.

Oh, the downturn first started with “correction of an excess in the housing stock and a sharp increase in energy prices” — the housing bust and the oil shock. Indeed, those two things were enough, in Hetzel’s view, to cause a “moderate recession” beginning in December 2007.

But only a moderate one. It was the Fed’s monetary policy miscues after the downturn began that turned a run-of-the-mill downturn into a once-in-a century disaster. Hetzel:

A moderate recession became a major recession in summer 2008 when the [Federal Open Market Committee] ceased lowering the federal funds rate while the economy deteriorated. The central empirical fact of the 2008-2009 recession is that the severe declines in output that in appeared in the [second quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2009] … had already been locked in by summer 2008.
The right policies mean a lot.

Senior White House aide David Plouffe took money from company that partnered with Assad regime

The South African company that paid senior White House adviser David Plouffe $100,000 in December 2010 to deliver two speeches is closely aligned with the Syrian government, helping the regime of President Bashar al-Assad prosper as the embattled government violently cracks down on its citizens.

A few questions that the state controlled media will never ask of Team Obama advisor David Plouffe:

·         What was the subject of your talk?

·         Why were you invited?

·         Was $100,000 your customary speaking fee?

·         What do you know about telecommunications systems in Syria?

·         What do you know of telecommunications systems in Africa?

·         Were you aware that MTN Group aids dictators and mass murderers?

·         What have you done to earn the bribe?

Mickey Kaus via Glenn Reynolds @ Instapundit.
Doesn’t Obama aide David Plouffe’s $100,000 speaking gig stink, even without the Iran connection of the firm that paid him? a) It’s just too much money.** I’ve seen Plouffe talk. He’s a smart guy. But he’s not a $100,000 speaker, or even a $30,000 speaker. He’s not Colin Powell, or Bill Clinton, or Beyonce. What did he think his benefactors–a telecommunications firm called MTN Group–thought they were getting for their 100Gs? Just a short talk (on “digital communications”)? There is some kind of bonus there for Plouffe. What was it for?; b) Plouffe was incoming, not outgoing–he joined the White House staff a few weeks later. It’s hard to believe MTN didn’t entertain the idea that it was making a strategic investment in a powerful new U.S. official; c) Maybe Plouffe had no intention of doing anything for MTN, and if they were stupid enough to pay him that much money for a generic talk … . In other words, he was shamelessly exploiting them. That might be something to laugh about at $10,000 or $20,000. It’s kind of disgusting at $100,000. ….

P.S.: Why do I suspect that Plouffe (like Colin Powell) is a good source–and that the reporters who use him will protect him if they can? … Also, journalists are on the same buckraking gravy train as Plouffe was, of course. . . . Best not to make a fuss and draw attention to this little secret. It’s the only way D.C. journalists can keep up with D.C. lawyers.
