Informantion about murder and gun violence you won't read in the Virginian Pilot

The people who produce the Virginian Pilot are not smart, so they are probably unaware of these statistics, but even if they were, they would not print them because that does not fit their story line.

Democrats think they can win on this issue because the Media is biased and misinforms the public about “gun violence.”

Crime is a people problem. If you understand nothing else about crime, you must understand this — crime is committed by people. It is not committed by inanimate objects, and while data on criminal activity can be charted as a trend over time, trends don’t commit crimes, people do. There is a word for people who commit crimes; we call these people “criminals” and, if anyone is interested in investigating trends, one trend is fairly consistent — most violent criminals are repeat offenders, and will not stop this behavioral pattern unless they are locked up in prison.

Democrats do not want to discuss crime as a people problem, but rather as a gun problem, because (a) most gun owners are Republicans and (b) most criminals are Democrats. Or, that is to say, the violent crime problem in America is largely concentrated in urban areas where Democrats get the majority of the vote.

Research by John R. Lott Jr. highlights just how geographically concentrated the murder problem is in the United States. Of the more than 3,000 counties in the country, 52 percent had zero murders in 2020, while the 31 counties with the highest murder rates (the worst 1 percent) had 42 percent of the nation’s murders. Expand the focus to the worst 2 percent (62 counties), and these accounted for more than half (56 percent) of U.S. murders in 2020. Lott concluded: “Murder isn’t a nationwide problem. It’s a problem in a small set of urban areas …”
Yes, but what about “gun violence”? What about the inflammatory rhetoric of Democrats demonizing the National Rifle Association (NRA) as somehow to blame for America’s crime problem? Among other things, Lott took into account rates of firearm ownership, and found an inverse relationship between the prevalence of murder and rates of gun ownership: “According to a 2021 Pew Research Center survey, the household gun ownership rate in rural areas was 79% higher than in urban areas. Suburban households are 37.9% more likely to own guns than urban households. Despite lower gun ownership, urban areas experience much higher murder rates.”
So much for the correlation between gun ownership and crime. What do we know about the correlation between politics and crime? The five U.S. cities with the highest per capita murder rates are St. Louis (69.4 per 100,000 population), Baltimore (51.1), New Orleans (40.6), Detroit (39.7), and Cleveland (33.7). In the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden got 82 percent of the vote in St. Louis, 87 percent in Baltimore, 83 percent in New Orleans, 94 percent in Detroit and 80 percent in Cleveland. In other words, the most dangerous cities in America are all Democratic Party strongholds.

Soros backed NY Attorney General may just have handed the election to Donald Trump

On Thursday, New York's Attorney General, Letitia James, proudly announced that she had filed suit to "dissolve" the National Rifle Association. She also sued four NRA executives for damages. The basis for the suit is her claim that the NRA has been mismanaging donor funds. She was able to attack the NRA because the organization is registered in New York, where it was first chartered in 1871.

James got a lot of attention with her announcement, but it might not have been what she was expecting. Forward-looking Democrats demanded to know whether she was trying to help get Trump elected. Meanwhile, the NRA, which has been gaining 1,000 new members a day since the "defund the police" movement began, immediately filed a lawsuit against James, accusing her of defamation and seeking to squelch the organization's right to free speech...

It's no secret why James is going after the NRA. First, it was one of her campaign promises when she ran for Attorney General. In an October 2018 pre-election interview with Ebony magazine she attacked the NRA -- which protects Americans' Second Amendment rights -- as a "terrorist organization" (emphasis added).

The reason behind the lawsuit's timing is obvious. The NRA, recognizing the threat a hard-left Biden administration poses to the Second Amendment, vowed to spend tens of millions of dollars to help Trump win battleground states.

With his usual pithy flair, Trump spelled out what would happen if James's suit were to succeed: Just like Radical Left New York is trying to destroy the NRA, if Biden becomes President your GREAT SECOND AMENDMENT doesn't have a chance. Your guns will be taken away, immediately and without notice. No police, no guns!...

However many millions of dollars she thought she could prevent the NRA from spending in swing states, she just provided at least an equal amount in an in-kind donation with that press conference. You better believe that not only Trump, but Republicans up and down the ticket are going to benefit hugely come November by yesterday's fiasco. Well, played, counselor. Well played! If Nazi collaborator and key insurrection financier George Soros bankrolled this dame's campaign, he got taken. Big time.

Did you know that Shooting "victim" David Hogg was not at Parkland during the shooting?

Oh, first of all, as some of you have pointed out (which I didn't hear until Charlie Brown's Implement sent me the tip): David "Camera" Hogg says he wasn't even at the school during the shooting, but "raced" there on his bike to get as much, get this, camera footage as possible when he heard about it on the news.

I previously questioned where he was during the shooting, wondering how close to danger he'd actually been. I wondered this because, despite the media's flood-the-zone coverage, they'd entirely skipped the easy (and important) story about where the spokesmoppets were during the attack. Put up a map of the school, show the spokesmoppets' location compared to the killer's.

Easy content -- and yet they hadn't bothered.

Hmmm. Wonder why.

When the media refrains from running an easy, clickbait story, it's because they're deliberately hiding something from the reader.

Turns out, he wasn't there at all. He has as much moral authority to speak about this as anyone else who viewed it on TV.

Maybe that's why he feels no shame about treating this entirely as a partisan political campaign: no actual emotional skin in the game.

Why It’s Time To Raise The Voting Age Back To 21

The teens going on television to agitate for gun control after the Parkland shooting make the case, not for lowering the voting age, but for raising it.

Read the whole thing. Excerpt:

Consider the case of David Hogg, the one you’ve probably seen on TV the most. A few days ago he was responding to the unraveling of the Parkland narrative—the revelation that armed sheriff’s deputies had arrived at the shooting while it was in progress but made no attempt to stop the killer—by excusing the deputy, asking, “Who wants to go down the barrel of an AR-15?” (Never mind that the deputy had no way of knowing what weapon was being used.) Just a few days later, Hogg was on television (again), blaming the deputy’s inaction on…Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

These elected officials are the boss of these sheriff personnel and just like the president is the boss of the FBI, Governor Rick Scott is essentially the boss of Scott Israel, the sheriff, and as such he should be held accountable. He can’t just blame this on the bureaucracy and expect to get re-elected.

Aside from the blatant contradiction of Hogg’s earlier views, the main thing you should notice about this statement is that it is factually wrong. Scott is not the “boss” of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel any more than Scott is the “boss” of the state’s mayors or legislators. The sheriff is an independently elected position. That’s a widespread feature of our Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement, which today’s young people might know if they weren’t too busy being taught to be shocked and offended by the phrase “Anglo-American.”

FOX BUTTERFIELD, IS THAT YOU?

James Taranto has moved on from his daily online Best of the Web column and his recurring documentation of New York Timesthink under the catchphrase “Fox Butterfield, is that you?” Butterfield was the Times reporter endlessly befuddled by, or indignant over, high incarceration rates coupled with low crime rates. Invoking Butterfield, Taranto noted cases of reported contradiction where correlation was more like it.

CBS Minnesota affiliate WCCO introduces Pat Kessler’s story on gun ownership with this classic of the genre: “More people are carrying guns than ever before, but the crime rate remains relatively low.” Kessler himself reports: “Minnesota’s violent crime rate hit a 50-year low in 2016, according to the FBI. And in 2017, the state set a new record for firearms background checks.”

Progressives Freak Over Photo Of Armed Secretary Of The Navy

Considering where he was, this seems somewhat prudent. I think we can all agree that the secretary of the Navy would be quite the catch for the Taliban, and Spencer would be unlikely to enjoy the experience, much less survive it.

But that doesn’t stop some supposed experts from not understand the move.

Barbara Starr is CNN’s Pentagon correspondent. You know, the person at CNN who you would think would be most likely to understand that people are still shooting at Americans over in Afghanistan?

Then again, this is CNN we’re talking about here, so I’m not that sure.

Nothing Makes Liberals Angrier Than Us Normals Insisting On Our Rights

I don’t agree with liberals often, because I’m not an idiot and because I love America, but when they once again say, “We must have a conversation about guns!” I still couldn’t agree more. And, since all we’ve heard is you leftists shrieking at us all week, I’ll start it off.

You don’t ever get to disarm us. Not ever.

There. It sure feels good to engage in a constructive dialogue.

Now, we should have this conversation because in recent years we’ve seen a remarkable antipathy for the fact that normal Americans even have rights among those on the left. We should have this conversation to clear the air before leftists push too far and the air gets filled with smoke. But we really don’t need to have a conversation about our rights to keep and bear arms. They’re rights. There’s nothing to talk about.

This goes for all our rights that the left hates, like the rights to speak and write freely, to practice our religion as we see fit, and to not be railroaded by liberal authority without due process. Leftists hate our rights because they hate us, and when we assert our rights it gets in the way of their malicious schemes to dominate and control us. It makes them stamp their little sandaled feet in rage when we normals just won’t cooperate and surrender our rights. But we love our rights – rights are wonderful things with which we were endowed by our Creator, and which our beloved Constitution merely reiterates. But the left, including its pet media, thinks that our rights were merely iterated, and that the left can take an eraser to the parchment and – voila! – no more pesky rights for you flyover people....

I, for one, am not super inclined to give up my ability to defend myself in response to demands by people who eagerly tell me they want me enslaved or dead. Literally dead.

Police drawing guns on minorities is an outrage, but law enforcement mowing down armed rednecks is something to aspire to. The president criticizing left-wing journalists is a sign of fascism, but shutting down right-wing “fake news” on Facebook is necessary.

Liberals say only people approved by the government should have guns

The Las Vegas gunman who killed nearly 60 people at a country music festival worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an IRS agent and in an auditing department over a 10-year period.

A spokeswoman for the Office of Personnel Management told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Stephen Paddock’s employment included about two years as a mail carrier from 1976 to 1978.

After that, he worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for six years until 1984. And then he worked a defense auditing job for about 18 months.

The information helped complete the timeline surrounding the 64-year-old Paddock’s life. He graduated from college in 1977 from Cal State Northridge and also worked for a defense contractor in the late 1980s.

News Flash: Chicago gang bangers don't get their guns legally!

A recent study that was conducted by the University of Chicago’s Crime Lab has learned that Chicago criminals do not acquire their guns from gun shops, gun shows or the internet.

The study examined and interviewed inmates in Chicago’s Cook County Jail who are either facing current gun charges, or have a background consisting of firearms related convictions.

The study learned that virtually zero criminals have ever used the internet or gun shows, because that method is easily traceable. It’s much safer for a criminal to acquire firearms on the streets where they’re harder to keep track of, and that’s most criminals method of choice.

Furthermore, University of Chicago Crime lab co-director, Harold Pollack, said that criminals “were less concerned about getting caught by the cops than being put in the position of not having a gun to defend themselves and then getting shot.”

What would we do without experts? And this is why more gun laws don't work.

I wonder if this will come as news to the editors of the Virginian Pilot who seem fixated on ending gun violence by passing more laws keeping criminals from getting guns. But then, the Virginian Pilot writers and editors drive for gun control laws is really a lie. They want you disarmed because a disarmed people are more easily controlled by the government and they are the Party of Government. Fascists with a smiley face.

Frankly, the Democratic Party must somehow benefit from ghetto violence because every city they run seems to have a Third World-level homicide rate.

While there are homicides of teens across America, most of the perpetrators and the victims are black males who live in the ghetto. That is where we should concentrate our efforts.

Gun control is a proven mistake. We have had gun control since 1968 (although federal laws date back to 1934, the 1968 law was the biggy). A Democratic Congress and a Democratic president enacted the law after the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King. Both were shot by rifles. The law had little effect on rifles. Democrats went after handguns. The result was disastrous. The homicide rate rose from 6.2 homicides per 100,000 Americans in 1967 (the last full year before the law was enacted) to 10.2 by 1980. It dropped slightly but stayed above the pre-gun control rate for 30 years, falling only after states eased restrictions on concealed weapons permits (Vermont never required a permit).

The government can use schools to reduce gun violence by concentrating on schools where young black males kill other young black males. We already dole out extra money for reading teachers under Title I to these schools, and have for 40 years. OK, the reading scores are worse but that is because they do not attack the real problem. It is not that these kids are stupid, it is that they are undisciplined. Most have no father or any other positive male role model in their life. And yes, that happens to white kids too (I was one) and it sucks too. Race is not the issue. Lack of discipline is.

After Lying For 30 Years, New York Times Admits “Assault Weapons Are A Myth”

“Assault weapons” is a made-up term, used to scare citizens into thinking that military weapons were commonly being sold and used on the streets of the United States. Thanks to a dishonest and incompetent media, millions of Americans thought (and still think) that machine guns could simply be purchased at the local gun store. The reality that the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners Protection Act outlawed the manufacture of automatic weapons for the civilian market in 1986, was always hushed up.
