If you have the answer to police violence you are full of shit. The problem is that there are ghettos ....

 Talking to a lot of people who’ve never been in a physical confrontation who are full of opinions on the right way to police ghettos or de-escalate an agitated mob. Seen too many movies where some philosopher-cop pulls out the perfect line that makes all involved see the light. 

There’s a reason cops are cops and you’re the one who calls the cops when someone scares you in a dog park. Putting hands on violent criminals who don’t want to be touched isn’t for everyone. It probably isn’t for you. 

We’re hiring people to do a job that gets 85 of them murdered every year. There are some 800k cops in the US. For reference that’s more than all Army & Marine Corps ground forces combined. If there was a lever that could fix this problem, it would’ve been pulled long ago. 

That’s not to say there aren’t better ways, but there’s is no perfect way to police violent ghettos where black markets dominate the economy, and if there was, no way to get 800k cops in 18k departments to do it every day. This isn’t fixable the way you’re hoping.  

The problem is that there are ghettos, that they’re racially defined, that they’re full of people raised on pop culture that glorifies anti-cop violence, that experience has taught people not to trust authority, and historical grievances that no reform or reparation can rectify. 

Protesters and leaders speak in vague platitudes about “seeking justice”, “ending racism”, and “reckoning with the past” because none of them - and none of us - have the first clue how to improve the situation within a time frame that’s acceptable to anybody. 

The prison population is at a 20-year low. The black prison population is down 25% since 2006. That’s progress or nothing is. But meaningful improvement will take decades, and in the meantime Officer Chauvons will still run into George Floyds. 

These riots have set in stone another few decades of ghetto immiseration. Corporations will recoup their losses, small businesses will be destroyed, residents with the option to leave will do so, city tax revenue will plummet. I can guarantee it because it’s happened before.

Police questioned and then released relatives of a man shot dead at a Paris airport, as investigators sought clues on why he attacked an army patrol in an incident that has pushed security to the forefront of France's election campaign.

Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said late on Saturday that the man, named as 39-year-old Ziyed Ben Belgacem, had shouted he was there to "die for Allah" when he tried to seize a gun from a woman air force member on patrol at Orly airport.

After throwing down a bag containing a can of petrol and putting an air pistol to the head of the soldier, he was shot three times by her colleagues.

There has been a striking display of chutzpah among Democrats as they try to make a national campaign out of police-brutality allegations that wrong-foots Republicans. Regardless of what you think about the merit of the underlying allegations, the question of how police departments and other municipal agencies are run in Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc., has not a whole heck of a lot to do with any Republican: We are talking almost exclusively about Democrat-monopoly cities that have been that way for a long time. The extent of Republican involvement in the issue, if Moulitsas’s vapid prose and our eyes are to be believed, is Giuliani’s talking about the Super Bowl halftime show on Fox News.

Who runs Baltimore? Who runs Chicago? Who runs Los Angeles? How far from the site of Tamir Rice’s shooting would you have to drive to find a Republican with real municipal political power? What’s standing in the way of reforming the Cleveland police department? John Kasich? Please. You may as well blame Rick Santorum. If you are going to blame a Republican for the state of Baltimore, it would make just as much sense to choose Abe Lincoln as Rudy Giuliani.

The man who went on a stabbing rampage Wednesday at the University of California, Merced, praised Allah in a two-page manifesto recovered from his body, the Merced County Sheriff said Thursday …

[Sheriff Verne Warnke] told a crowd of reporters Thursday “there is nothing to indicate this was anything other than a teenage boy who got upset with fellow classmates.”

Asked if the manifesto made any references to Allah, Warnke said there were, but dismissed any suggestion that Mohammad was motivated by religion.

Anti-cop violence spreads as illegal immigrant gang member slugs deputy sitting in car

An illegal immigrant MS-13 gang member the Obama administration had released on bond committed an unprovoked attack on a sheriff’s deputy, slugging the deputy as he worked on a traffic report while sitting in his car, the Frederick County, Md., sheriff’s department said Friday.

Jose Misael Reyes-Reyes, 18, had been arrested in May on weapons charges and in June on charges of malicious destruction of property, but federal immigration authorities had left him free on bond while he awaited a deportation hearing, the sheriff’s office said.

Given his age, Mr. Reyes-Reyes was potentially part of the recent surge of illegal immigrant children that overwhelmed the Border Patrol over the last few years, and who have now been shipped to communities across the country.

Mr. Reyes-Reyes came upon Deputy First Class Greg Morton Thursday morning as the deputy was in his marked police vehicle finishing up an accident report. The sheriff’s office said Mr. Reyes-Reyes began banging on a back window of the vehicle, and when Deputy Morton turned to look the man reached through the half-open window and slugged the deputy in the face.

Even after Deputy Morton got Mr. Reyes-Reyes under control and handcuffed him, but man tried to escape, kicking the deputy again, the sheriff’s office said.

Mr. Reyes-Reyes is “a validated MS-13 gang member,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. MS-13, or Mara Salvatrucha-13, is an international gang started by Salvadorans in Los Angeles in the 1980s. It expanded operations to Central America after many of its leaders were deported, and has since spread across the U.S., including a particular presence in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., which has been the destination for many Central American immigrants.

It’s unclear why Mr. Reyes-Reyes was out on bond, given the priority Homeland Security officials say they place on going after illegal immigrant gang members.

I suspect that the level of violence will increase. As with all things in the Age of Obama, I wonder if it's the result of stupidity or part of a plan.

The Inconvenient Truth about Ghetto Communities’ Social Breakdown

Among the many painful ironies in the current racial turmoil is that communities scattered across the country were disrupted by riots and looting because of the demonstrable lie that Michael Brown was shot in the back by a white policeman in Missouri — but there was not nearly as much turmoil created by the demonstrable fact that a fleeing black man was shot dead by a white policeman in South Carolina.

Totally ignored was the fact that a black policeman in Alabama fatally shot an unarmed white teenager, and was cleared of any charges, at about the same time that a white policeman was cleared of charges in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown.

In a world where the truth means so little, and headstrong preconceptions seem to be all that matter, what hope is there for rational words or rational behavior, much less mutual understanding across racial lines? When the recorded fatal shooting of a fleeing man in South Carolina brought instant condemnation by whites and blacks alike, and by the most conservative as well as the most liberal commentators, that moment of mutual understanding was very fleeting, as if mutual understanding were something to be avoided, as a threat to a vision of “us against them” that was more popular.

That vision is nowhere more clearly expressed than in attempts to automatically depict whatever social problems exist in ghetto communities as being caused by the sins or negligence of whites, whether racism in general or a “legacy of slavery” in particular. Like most emotionally powerful visions, it is seldom, if ever, subjected to the test of evidence.

The “legacy of slavery” argument is not just an excuse for inexcusable behavior in the ghettos. In a larger sense, it is an evasion of responsibility for the disastrous consequences of the prevailing social vision of our times, and the political policies based on that vision, over the past half century.

Anyone who is serious about evidence need only compare black communities as they evolved in the first 100 years after slavery with black communities as they evolved in the first 50 years after the explosive growth of the welfare state, beginning in the 1960s.

You would be hard-pressed to find as many ghetto riots prior to the 1960s as we have seen just in the past year, much less in the 50 years since a wave of such riots swept across the country in 1965.

We are told that such riots are a result of black poverty and white racism. But in fact — for those who still have some respect for facts — black poverty was far worse, and white racism was far worse, prior to 1960. But violent crime within black ghettos was far less. You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Murder rates among black males were going down — repeat, down — during the much-lamented 1950s, while it went up after the much celebrated 1960s, reaching levels more than double what they had been before. Most black children were raised in two-parent families prior to the 1960s. But today the great majority of black children are raised in one-parent families.

Such trends are not unique to blacks, nor even to the United States. The welfare state has led to remarkably similar trends among the white underclass in England over the same period. Just read Life at the Bottom, by Theodore Dalrymple, a British physician who worked in a hospital in a white slum neighborhood.

You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization — including work, behavioral standards, personal responsibility, and all the other basic things that the clever intelligentsia disdain — without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Non-judgmental subsidies of counterproductive lifestyles are treating people as if they were livestock, to be fed and tended by others in a welfare state — and yet expecting them to develop as human beings have developed when facing the challenges of life themselves. One key fact that keeps getting ignored is that the poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits every year since 1994. Behavior matters and facts matter, more than the prevailing social visions or political empires built on those visions.

Cop wounded in shootout not happy about de Blasio’s visit

The two police officers shot by a Bronx robber they were trying to arrest would have rather not gotten visited by Mayor de Blasio, family and fellow cops told The Post on Tuesday.

The father of the more seriously wounded of the pair, Officer Andrew Dossi, 30, said his son “wasn’t too happy about the mayor’s visit.”

“He deals with some crappy people every day and getting no support — come on,” Joe Dossi said, referring to the feud between the NYPD’s rank and file and de Blasio over unrestrained anti-cop protests and the mayor saying he had cautioned mixed-race son Dante to be wary of cops.

Mark Steyn: "He's not Muslim, he's just mentally ill."

The incomparable mark Steyn remarks, in his inimitably un-PC way on the way the media (including FOX) treats certain people who commit certain acts and belong to a certain religion.   And the insular and insulated, protected and pampered Ruling Class. 

Diversity seems to be working out fine in the upper echelons of society. But lower down the ladder identity-group politics requires ever more virulent demonization of "the other". Otherwise, how's an ugly thug race-baiter like Al Sharpton supposed to stay in business? And so #blacklivesmatter, and Rafael Ramos and Wen Jian Liu are serviceable stand-ins for Bull Connor, as was "white Hispanic" George Zimmerman a couple of grievances back. Aside from being a respectable NBC anchor and a welcome guest at Obama's White House, the Reverend Al is said to be the "co-mayor" of New York. This term is largely metaphorical - for the moment. But you can already discern the contours of the American future: A chichi Green Zone within which the consequences of identity-group politics are confined mainly to sudden vapors over microagressions and nanoaggressions, and the plump prosperous power-brokers of "social justice" live lives comfortably undisturbed by the passions they foment when they jet forth with ever larger entourages to toss some red meat to the mob in Ferguson or Staten Island. And beyond the Green Zone a land of minimal economic opportunity fracturing into ever fiercer tribal resentments that find ever more violent expression.

If you want the picture in a nutshell, the same Department of Homeland Security that declines to fence America's vanished southern border is recommending the fence round the White House be made even taller. The Obamas and de Blasios and Sharptons will always be inside the fence. The effects of their policies are largely on the other side.

~Is it relevant that Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley is a Muslim? Maybe not. But it isn't so irrelevant that every news outlet (including Fox) has to be quite so cautious about mentioning it at all. Newsday, one of the few papers that did, reported the view of Robert Boyce, the NYPD's Chief of Detectives:

Boyce said Brinsley had no gang affiliation or tattoos. His family is Muslim but the NYPD found no indication that he was religious or that the slaying was motivated by religion. He said the family said he never manifested "any radicalization."

So the preferred explanation is mental illness:

The shooter may have had an undiagnosed mental illness, according to his family, and may have been on medication "later on in life," Boyce said in a briefing in Manhattan. But he said he had no official reports of any mental illness.

Indeed. In fact, there's less hard evidence for any mental illness than there is for "radicalization", at least to the extent that Brinsley appears to have posted on his Facebook page the Koranic soundbite about "striking fear into the enemies of Allah". Nevertheless, the preferred explanation is that Brinsley was mentally ill, just like the guy who beheaded a coworker in Oklahoma was mentally ill, and the Sydney bloke who took those hostages at the coffee shop was mentally ill, and the son of the Canadian Refugee Board honcho who killed a soldier at the Canadian War Memorial was mentally ill. They were also all Muslim. Oh, and the fellow in France who ran down 11 people with his car while shouting "Allahu Akbar!" only yesterday has already been pronounced mentally ill. By sheer coincidence, he was Muslim, too.

Remember who the Left blamed for the Gabby Giffords shooting?

Remember the "climate of hate" that the Left said was responsible for the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords?  It turns out that the shooter was a nut who friends identified as Liberal.  But that did not stop the Left as they went after the people they love to hate.

They included:

• Sarah Palin (for "targeting" Giffords for defeat in the upcoming election) by MSNBC's Keith Olberman, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas, Liberal political consultant and blogger John Aravosis.  And, of course, every Lefty driven insane by the Democrats in their war on Conservatives.
• The Tea Party movement  

Palin-led tea party movement had normalized a brand of violent rhetoric that stirs up voters. Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, who called Arizona “the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”

“Let me say one thing, because people tend to pooh-pooh this business about all the vitriol that we hear inflaming the American public by people who make a living off of doing that. That may be free speech, but it’s not without consequences.”

....Giffords’ weeping father, who said, when asked if the congresswoman had enemies: “Yeah…the whole Tea Party.”

• Talk Radio, Republicans:  Paul Krugman accused Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and the entire Republican Party:

“You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead,” Krugman wrote on the Times website. “But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.”

But let a racist Black Muslim kill a couple of NY city cops after weeks of marches and inflammatory, racist and lying rhetoric encouraged by every political Leftist from Obama to Holder to De Blasio to Al Sharpton, and let that killer give his reasons for murder the deaths of several black criminals, and all the cockroaches who have been egging on these weak minded petty criminals scurry for cover.  You can be sure that Olberman, Moulatsis, Dupnik, Krugman and every other Lefty who went after Palin, the Tea Party, talk radio and the GOP are going to deny that their rhetoric hand anything to do with triggering the killer.  But their connection to the killer's motives could not be clearer.  He gives their rhetoric and issues as the reason for his decision to kill the cops.

Gunman executes 2 NYPD cops as ‘revenge’ for Garner

Two uniformed NYPD officers were shot dead Saturday afternoon as they sat in their marked police car on a Brooklyn street corner — in what investigators believe was a crazed gunman’s ­assassination-style mission to avenge Eric Garner and Michael Brown.

“I’m Putting Wings on Pigs Today,” a person believed to be the gunman wrote. “They Take 1 Of Ours . . . Let’s Take 2 of Theirs,”

Over the coming days and weeks you will see the Liberal media scuttle away like roaches from the environment and hate they created.

De Blasio did what he could to stoke racial violence between the police and "his" constituents.

It is the sequence that every mayor dreads: the ominous report, the scramble to the hospital and the confirmation that, yes, an attack against the police has proved fatal.

But for Mayor Bill de Blasio, the tragedy on Saturday — when two police officers were shot and killed in an ambush in Brooklyn, according to the authorities — arrived at a particularly trying moment, amid an already fractious relationship with the police.

Police union leaders and officers could be seen turning their backs to the mayor and the police commissioner, William J. Bratton, as they walked past, in a video taken at the hospital where the two held a news conference on Saturday.

A written message from Edward Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, addressed the mayor directly. “Mayor de Blasio,” it read in part, “the blood of these two officers is clearly on your hands.”
