The week in whoppers: Biden’s ‘unifying’ race riots, CNN’s inflation problem and more

This statement:

“Two summers ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we saw protests across the nation the likes of which you hadn’t seen since the 1960s. They unified people of every race and generation. Athletes and sports leagues boycotted and postponed games. Companies and workers proclaimed ‘Black Lives Matter.’ Students staged solidarity walkouts.”

 President Biden, May 25

We say: Biden must have been in his basement in summer 2020. Peaceful protests quickly turned into riots and looting, and Americans took notice: Their support for Black Lives Matter fell 12 points between June and September 2020, per Pew. NPR’s headline on an Ipsos survey that same month: “Americans Increasingly Polarized When It Comes To Racial Justice Protests, Poll Finds.”

According to the Left, there's nothing quite as unifying as a summer of race riots.

If the media is trying to start a race war, they’re doing a very good job of it.

As I’ve already noted after attending a Trump rally in Atlanta, the topic of race was not mentioned once during the entire event, yet nearly all of the bile tossed at Trump—at least the rhetoric that does not directly assail his hair and his penis—focuses exclusively on dubbing him as a “racist.” Pardon me for getting all paranoid and suspecting that his critics would prefer to stir fears about Trump being the New Hitler rather than ever mention his legitimate complaints about the nation’s toxic inflow of illegal immigrants and economically suicidal outsourcing of jobs and industry.

And as I watched the live footage unfolding of smirking, scruffy dupes of globalist totalitarian financiers swinging fists, screaming at cops, and harassing the fuck out of Trump supporters who were merely trying to leave the event peacefully without being jumped, I bit my lip as one CNN reporter after the next all blamed it on Trump.

Great article at Taki's magazine

They claimed that it was Trump’s words that led to the violence—not the conscious decisions of those who couldn’t emotionally handle his words and therefore made a conscious decision to attend his rally and “shut it down” while “fucking shit up.” When they threw bottles at cops and swung fists at Trump supporters, they were in no way responsible for their behavior. And by preventing Trump from speaking and letting him know he wasn’t welcome in Chicago and there should be no forum for people such as him to speak, they were only exercising their free speech, and you’re a stupid knuckle-dragging redneck if you don’t see the logic in that.

If the media is trying to start a race war, they’re doing a very good job of it.

The Great Chicago Trump Shutdown occurred after weeks of desperate turd-flinging against Trump by both major political parties and mainstream media across the political spectrum. And yet the same tools who insist that gullible fanatics can be easily whipped up into violence by mere rhetoric took not a wisp of responsibility for possibly triggering hordes of their special snowflakes with endless propaganda about how Donald Trump is the secret love child of Adolf Hitler and the KKK.

But who exactly are acting like the intrusive brownshirts in this equation? Which side is aggressively flouting all known rules of decorum and civility and is openly messing with the other side?

It’s certainly not the fascist redneck hordes that have allegedly been hypnotized by Trump. A few seconds of Googling yielded the following results:

• “protesters disrupt sanders rally” … 5 results
• “protesters disrupt clinton rally” … 10 results
• “protesters disrupt trump rally” … 24,500 results

The punch line is that in every case of protestors disrupting Clinton and Sanders rallies, the perps were the cretinous and embarrassingly innumerate goons of Black Lives Matter, harassing their fellow leftists for not being leftist enough.

Although I allow the possibility of isolated incidents, I could find no evidence of Trump supporters even bothering to attend a Clinton or Sanders rally, much less disrupt it or shut it down.

The Democrats’ Theme for 2016 Is Totalitarianism

Kevin Williamson, at NR:

At the beginning of December, Rolling Stone writer Jeff Goodell asked Secretary of State John Kerry whether Charles and David Koch, two libertarian political activists, should be considered — his remarkable words — “an enemy of the state.” He posed the same question about Exxon, and John Kerry, who could have been president of these United States, said that he looked forward to the seizure of Exxon’s assets for the crime of “proselytizing” impermissibly about the question of global warming.

For those of you keeping track, the Democrats and their allies on the left have now: voted in the Senate to repeal the First Amendment, proposed imprisoning people for holding the wrong views on global warming, sought to prohibit the showing of a film critical of Hillary Rodham Clinton, proposed banning politically unpopular academic research, demanded that funding politically unpopular organizations and causes be made a crime and that the RICO organized-crime statute be used as a weapon against targeted political groups.

They have filed felony charges against a Republican governor for vetoing a piece of legislation, engaged in naked political persecutions of members of Congress, and used the IRS and the ATF as weapons against political critics.

They shout down unpopular ideas or simply forbid nonconforming views from being heard there in the first place. They have declared academic freedom an “outdated concept” and have gone the full Orwell, declaring that freedom is oppressive and that they should not be expected to tolerate ideas that they do not share. They are demanding mandatory ideological indoctrination sessions for nonconforming students. They have violently assaulted students studying in libraries and assaulted student journalists documenting their activities.

They have staged dozens of phony hate crimes and sexual assaults as a pretext for persecuting unpopular organizations and people.

What they cannot achieve by legislation or litigation, they seek to achieve by simple violence, left-wing activists having smashed, looted, and burned portions of Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore, where Koreans and other Asian minorities were specifically targeted. As on college campuses, they have made a point of assaulting journalists documenting their violence. They have rioted in Philadelphia and in other cities.

Chaos in St. Paul Schools

A few days ago I posted an article about schools in St. Paul, MN which had implemented a curriculum guided by the Pacific Educational Group. Here is a message from a former teacher in that district.

Thanks, xxxx, I want to send this on to my colleagues. They have told me it is complete chaos. 2 years ago they told me they had to say they were speaking from "white privilege" and it destroyed even the good relationships they had with their black students. I pray daily for my friends there as it has become extremely dangerous. They are told not to block the doorway or anyone who wants to come in or leave. That teacher who is quoted in the article- I can guarantee you she will be punished by the school district. All of my friends have told me they are so glad I am not there anymore as it is too dangerous. My QRC had told me St Paul teachers were being injured at an alarming rate. It disgusts me. Totally.

It doesn't take long for a culture to break down. The thin veneer of civilization is a lot more fragile than most people imagine. If the elected or appointed leaders of communities no longer believe that our traditional culture is a positive good, then we have chaos. And chaos is not abstract. It's not just pushing and shoving. It's riots in Baltimore. It's the police - the thin blue line - demonstrating what happens when they stop being proactive. It's measured in body count.

But it's also reflected in the attitudes and opinions of those that don't riot or kill. These people lose respect for the bonds that hold the culture together. And when that manifests itself in action, the results will make past riots and killings look like a grade school picnic. Eventually peace will be restored, but many people may not like how the new show is run.

Mainstreaming black violence.

Here's how one black man views white people.

Eric Sheppard

Valdosta State University student Eric Sheppard

“When my People descend upon [Lowndes High School] and if they are met with even the slightest inclination of resistance by any pale skinned beast or aid they are more than Justified to Take your Head and post it on a stake for the Entire world to See,” Sheppard wrote in his profanity-laced “memorandum ultimatum.”

“Many still question the possibility of my surrendering to the people who call themselves ‘authorities,'” Sheppard wrote. “To give you a simple answer, No. I will not turn myself over to any white man.”

Sheppard, who sports a trimmed beard and is often seen wearing traditional African garb, spoke to his weapons case and condemned the criminal justice system as merely the descendant of slavery.

Quoting former Nation of Islam leader and New Black Panther Party chairman, Kallid Abdul Muhammad, Sheppard wrote of whites, “we give them 24 hours to get out of town by sundown.”

“I say, if they don’t get out of town, we kill the white men, we kill the white women, we kill the white children, we kill the white babies, we kill the blind whites, we kill the crippled whites, we kill the crazy whites, we kill the faggots, we kill the lesbians, I say god dammit we kill ’em all,” Sheppard continued.

“If they are white kill ‘em all.”

He also advocated killing “all the old crippled crackkkas.”

Sheppard concluded the missive, quoting Sara Suten Seti, a popular Youtube race warrior, who said that the “Mission is to Slay the Children of this [White] Beast One by Goddamn One!”
In a country of over 300 million people you will have every kind of kook imaginable. But this student at Valdosta State University is not a lone would-be terrorist. He was part of a demonstration on the campus that was trampling the American flag. The woman, and Air Force vet who picked up the flag was arrested.

In demonstrations throughout the country, black mobs are looting and attacking police based on lies: “hands up don’t shoot” being just one of them. The media propagandize for the rioters by spreading the lie and by telling us that the rioters are “mostly peaceful” even as they show the burning, looting, rock throwing. The civil authorities in places like Baltimore are doing everything to encourage the rioters and official Washington is doing all it can to make the riots a “righteous” act.

That makes Eric Sheppard and his views of white people part of the mainstream of the culture created by the Left, the media and the Obama Administration. You have to hand it to him; he promised to fundamentally transform America and has succeeded beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

The Inconvenient Truth about Ghetto Communities’ Social Breakdown

Thomas Sowell

Among the many painful ironies in the current racial turmoil is that communities scattered across the country were disrupted by riots and looting because of the demonstrable lie that Michael Brown was shot in the back by a white policeman in Missouri — but there was not nearly as much turmoil created by the demonstrable fact that a fleeing black man was shot dead by a white policeman in South Carolina.

Totally ignored was the fact that a black policeman in Alabama fatally shot an unarmed white teenager, and was cleared of any charges, at about the same time that a white policeman was cleared of charges in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown.

In a world where the truth means so little, and headstrong preconceptions seem to be all that matter, what hope is there for rational words or rational behavior, much less mutual understanding across racial lines? When the recorded fatal shooting of a fleeing man in South Carolina brought instant condemnation by whites and blacks alike, and by the most conservative as well as the most liberal commentators, that moment of mutual understanding was very fleeting, as if mutual understanding were something to be avoided, as a threat to a vision of “us against them” that was more popular.

That vision is nowhere more clearly expressed than in attempts to automatically depict whatever social problems exist in ghetto communities as being caused by the sins or negligence of whites, whether racism in general or a “legacy of slavery” in particular. Like most emotionally powerful visions, it is seldom, if ever, subjected to the test of evidence.

The “legacy of slavery” argument is not just an excuse for inexcusable behavior in the ghettos. In a larger sense, it is an evasion of responsibility for the disastrous consequences of the prevailing social vision of our times, and the political policies based on that vision, over the past half century.

Anyone who is serious about evidence need only compare black communities as they evolved in the first 100 years after slavery with black communities as they evolved in the first 50 years after the explosive growth of the welfare state, beginning in the 1960s.

You would be hard-pressed to find as many ghetto riots prior to the 1960s as we have seen just in the past year, much less in the 50 years since a wave of such riots swept across the country in 1965.

We are told that such riots are a result of black poverty and white racism. But in fact — for those who still have some respect for facts — black poverty was far worse, and white racism was far worse, prior to 1960. But violent crime within black ghettos was far less. You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Murder rates among black males were going down — repeat, down — during the much-lamented 1950s, while it went up after the much celebrated 1960s, reaching levels more than double what they had been before. Most black children were raised in two-parent families prior to the 1960s. But today the great majority of black children are raised in one-parent families.

Such trends are not unique to blacks, nor even to the United States. The welfare state has led to remarkably similar trends among the white underclass in England over the same period. Just read Life at the Bottom, by Theodore Dalrymple, a British physician who worked in a hospital in a white slum neighborhood.

You cannot take any people, of any color, and exempt them from the requirements of civilization — including work, behavioral standards, personal responsibility, and all the other basic things that the clever intelligentsia disdain — without ruinous consequences to them and to society at large.

Non-judgmental subsidies of counterproductive lifestyles are treating people as if they were livestock, to be fed and tended by others in a welfare state — and yet expecting them to develop as human beings have developed when facing the challenges of life themselves. One key fact that keeps getting ignored is that the poverty rate among black married couples has been in single digits every year since 1994. Behavior matters and facts matter, more than the prevailing social visions or political empires built on those visions.

Of Race, Liberalism, Media, Riots, Shootouts, and other assorted acts of violence.

Bud Norman (read the whole thing)
You probably about heard about that big biker gang shootout down in Waco, just as you probably heard about the riots in Baltimore, and in both cases you probably concluded they were unfortunate incidents caused by unsavory people. Those who worry about such things, though, are worried the news media might have caused you to be more appalled by the latter than the former.

Almost all of the unsavory people rioting in Baltimore were black, many of the unsavory people shooting it out in Waco were white, and these days the ensuing coverage is to be judged accordingly. Over at Salon.com they were offended that the riot was typically described as a “riot” and the shootout as a “shootout,” while lawyer and “community organizer” Sally Kohn was among many who were offended that the rioters were often called “thugs” while those involved in the shootout as were more frequently dubbed “biker gangs,” all over the left side of the internet there was great consternation about the amount of attention being paid, and of course all of these discrepancies were blamed on the subtle racism of the American media. Such nuances are apparently intended to mislead the public into a racist opinion that blacks destroying black communities is a bad thing while giving a wink and a nod to “white on white crime.”

Which leads us to wonder what sort of coverage they would have preferred, and what damage it might do to the English language. What happened in Baltimore was a riot, after all, and what happened in Waco was a shootout. Neither term carries any racial implications that we are aware of, and we note that whenever opposing groups of unsavory black people shoot at one another, as occasionally happens, most news media usually call it a “shootout,” and when white people engage in violent public disorder, as occasionally happens, usually in the wake of some sports team’s championship, the same news media invariably call it a “riot.” If such sensitive sorts as Kohn think it racist to call the people who burned down a senior citizens’ home in Baltimore “thugs” they should take it up with the black mayor of Baltimore and the black president of the United States, both of whom also employed the term, and be reassured that “biker gang” carries a rather thuggish connotation. The coverage of the Baltimore riot lasted for several days, but only because the riot lasted that long, it followed similar rioting in the St. Louis area, and there were threats of more rioting in other cities due to the same lingering controversies of policing in black neighborhoods. The shootout lasted a relatively short time before local police were able to restore order, the nine dead were all willing combatants, the remainder were arrested and duly charged, there is no reason to believe that any other biker gang shootouts are imminent, and the continuing coverage is because the media rather like this kind of story.

Most of the media dislike black-on-black crime stories, which are far more numerous than the police shootings and deadly biker gang brawls and high society murders that always go on the front page, and it usually has to happen on a scale that requires calling in the National Guard to get more than six column deep inside the local and state section. This in part because black-on-black crimes are so common, in part because they expose the media to the now-inevitable charges of racial insensitivity, and in part because most of the media is itself so hyper-sensitive about racial issues that they’re willing to ignore a significant problem affecting black people to assuage their consciences. They’d much rather draw attention a white-on-white shootout down in gun-crazy and Republican-voting Texas, and will happily ignore the fact that it wasn’t exactly a white-on-white shootout. The shootout pitted the “Cossacks” against the “Bandidos,” and as the nomenclature suggests it was more of a whites-and-Hispanics-upon-one-another gunfight, and apparently it had more to with the biker gang subculture’s strange rules regarding the patches worn on motorcycle jackets and the usual drug turf disputes than race, and a lot of the mug shots are ambiguous enough that some of the Bandidos could fit into that “white Hispanic” category that The New York Times created for George Zimmerman after he killed Trayvon Martin in self-defense, so most of the media are happy to give the impression of “white-on-white crime.”

Joys in the Hood: Ramping Up for "The Long Hot Summer" of 2015

Vander Leun on the prospect for urban violence.

a1968-baltimore-riots.jpg
Baltimore 1968

When it comes to the left-behinds in urban black ghettos from coast to coast calling for "new" urban renewal at this point is indeed so much blah-blah; pure blather. If you've had urban reNEWal already "new renewal" is just a case of trying to find a way to chrome a turd. You might be able to spray something on but it will never survive buffing.

Billions upon billions of dollars and decades of effort have gone down the drain of the left-behinds to no effect other than enriching the scamsters of "urban renewal." Baltimore is good solid case study in the proposition that nothing other than firm and unwavering policing over decades will help a deserted population captive to its nature as much as its nurture.

The first job of government (free or fascist) is, after all, the maintenance of public order. Without public order nothing good can thrive and without public order, as we see in the burned out and trashed businesses of Baltimore, nothing good can survive.

Once the flames have become ashes and the new cars driving in to haul loot away have faded away there is one lesson that Baltimore's taught other urban ghettos watching the fun on their flatscreen TVs: The police are frightened of those they are asked to police and the politicians who rule the police are even more terrified of the ghetto population. What other ghettos from Brooklyn to LA learn from Baltimore is that if they appear as flash riot mobs in enough numbers they will be able to loot as they please. Baltimore's rulers have assured the left-behinds that the cops won't come in shooting. And they won't.

Until they do. Or until the National Guard does.

Or until someone else entirely does.

The head instigator of our current race riots, Barack Obama, has defined the red-hot Baltimore riots “a slow-rolling crisis.... This is not new, and we shouldn’t pretend that it’s new.” He might as well have added that under his leadership the race rioting will get worse since his minions cannot let "a slow-rolling crisis" go to waste. It will get worse and spread because what Obama and his cohort teach is essentially 'looting will be tolerated within zones that will be protected by the police we control.'

Read the whole thing, it gets worse.  Gerard is not hopeful; and I think his pessimism is, at least for now, warranted.

Meanwhile at Salon there are quite a few people cheering the destruction. Benji Hart is one.  It's strange in a way.  The Left runs these cities, they run the cops, they run the schools, no one on the Right has been withing shouting distance of the problems they have created.  But we're still to blame. We're Emmanuel Goldstein and they will have their two minutes of hate.

Make a note, 50 years from now New York will be like Baltimore.  Detroit will be open fields again.
