 When serious guys like Ambassador O’Brien are worried, maybe people should pay attention. Just look at those facts and decide for yourself, understanding that most people will refuse to do so. It’s scary and unpleasant. Based on our elite’s legacy of failure over the last few decades, it takes a lot of dead Americans for people to sit up and pay attention. Our elite actually supports our enemies. You have an organization, Black Lives Matter, that actively celebrates the murder of innocents and that has received millions upon millions of dollars from mainstream corporations. On our allegedly most prestigious universities’ campuses, you have a bunch of sophomore psychopaths cheering on the rape and murder of innocent people, all in the name of “decolonization.” 

Meanwhile, the regime media and the Democrat Party are doing everything they can to neuter our ability to respond. 

Our ruling class decided they would take the risk. After all, if you’re going to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. Except you and your family are the eggs. When jihad cretins go on a killing spree, they’re not going to attack college campuses. They’re going to attack where normal, patriotic people are. They’re going to attack churches, ball games, shopping malls, movie theaters, and other places where you and your kids are. 

Why? Because they want to murder you. Actually, your death is a fringe benefit. They believe there’s political gain to doing it. If they spill enough American blood, maybe we will withdraw from the world. Maybe we will roll up into a fetal position and allow them to run rampant across the rest of the globe until, after their jihad has put the rest of the world under the black flag, they can finally concentrate their forces upon us and purge us from the face of the Earth.

I know you want to call me crazy. Next, I am probably going to tell you that a bunch of Arabs allowed into our country might band together, hijack four planes, and fly them into major buildings, killing thousands. How nutty is that?

Luckily, we have our crack law enforcement and intelligence communities on the case. I might feel a little more confident if the targets the FBI has been focusing on – people taking selfies in the rotunda, folks criticizing their school boards, people going to mass – were the actual threat. And, of course, our intelligence community saw 9/11 coming, got Iraq right about the WMDs, and warned Israel about what would happen in Gaza a couple of weeks ago. Oh, right, none of that is a thing. If you’re putting your personal safety in the hands of this coterie of clowns, all I can say is that you ought to go get yourself some good-term life insurance.

As always, your security is your problem, but luckily, the Second Amendment provides a solution. You need to buy guns and ammunition. I know I sound like a broken record, which is another reference that no one under 30 is going to get. When all hell breaks loose, you can expect communications to be down, you can expect chaos to rain, and if you think your local gendarmes are going to roll up in their back and white cruiser to solve your problem, you have got another thing coming. You need to do it yourself because there’s no one else who’s going to be able to do it for you. Not the cops. Not the army. Not Spider-Man. I was there in the Los Angeles riots when civilization literally collapsed in a matter of hours. You don’t think it can happen? Buddy, that is the natural state of man, not this beautiful illusion that we live with here in America. 

You have got to step up, especially now that the people you trusted to protect you have utterly failed and invited in the jihadi hordes. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong. I would love to hear nothing but “Kurt, I told you so.” But that doesn’t change the reality. The risk is real, and your family’s life is your responsibility. Don’t be one of those terrified people in the next set of terrorist selfies with no way to fight back. Channel the warrior heritage that belongs to every American. Be ready to fight. You might die anyway, but at least you’ll die like a man.

Just because you’ve heard it before doesn’t make it any less true. Buy guns and ammunition.

The New Normal Is Failure

 

Look around and all you see is failure.

A bunch of kids are being murdered by some semi-human, so what do you do? Draw your weapon and put him down or die trying? Or do you sit there, doing nothing?

The same government we’re supposed to give up our guns to because they have it all under control chose Option B. It chose failure.

Tell me more about how the real problem is that we have the capacity to defend ourselves.

But the real problem, to our enemies, is not that murderers murder. The real problem, to our enemies, is the very fact that we can defend ourselves. The objective of our trash elite is not to have a country that runs well, where people are secure, and where rights are respected. The objective is to rule. And if a bunch of kids die for that, they’re fine with it. They can live with failure, but not accountability.

The clusterfark in Uvalde is just a symptom of a much bigger pathology. It is a symbol of the failure of every institution in our society. And the solution is never to revamp the institutions and eject the parasites heading them. It’s always – always – to take power from us and give it to the people who screwed up in the first place.

The French Army in 1940…and the American CDC in 2021

 Interesting discussion, including the comments, about the bureaucracy that was the French Army in 1940 and the CDC today.  A great example is the CDC's interest in an app that tracks infection.

Thanks to endless requests for revision about an article about the app, the paper was rejected because it took over 12 months to produce.  A delay that was entirely the fault of the CDC.

After resubmission in <30 days, rejected months later despite green light from peer reviewers. Bottom line from CDC editor: because our data is now too old, we longer conform with journal guidelines….

So after the manuscript spend the vast majority of the previous 12 months on CDC desks not ours, we were rejected by the CDC because the data had become >12 months old.

The official observances for the twentieth anniversary managed to be even more wretched and grotesque than I'd expected - the most obvious affront being Bush's equivalence between the perpetrators of 9/11 and the "perpetrators" of 1/6: They were both "children of the same foul spirit", he declared, diminishing the three thousand victims of the former by comparing them to a congressman who had to hide in the stationery cupboard because some goofball was taking selfies with his feet up on the desk.

Twenty years ago, the forty-third president's entire executive branch totally failed the nation. Sample quote from page 184 of America Alone:

FAA Command Center: "That's a decision somebody's going to have to make, probably in the next ten minutes."

FAA Headquarters: "You know, everybody just left the room."

"Everybody just left the room": Your federal government in action. Under Bush, no one paid a price for it: That's your "foul spirit" right there, Pericles. It will be the same when the Chinese yank the rug out from under the dollar: Everybody just left the room - at the White House, at the Fed, at the Treasury ...but not at the IRS, where they're still hard at it freezing the savings accounts of January insurrectionists' nine-year-old grandkids.

Six months to the day after 9/11, Dubya's Immigration and Naturalization Service (as it then was) mailed out two student visas to Mohammed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi at their Florida flight school. Unfortunately, Messrs Atta and Shehhi were unable to avail themselves of their new American visas as they had neglected to have their mail forwarded to their new address at Big Smoking Hole in the Ground, Lower Manhattan.

He acted decisively - and moved Janis Sposato "sideways" to the post of "Assistant Deputy Executive Associate Commissioner for Immigration Services", where she needed a much longer business card that stuck out awkwardly from her breast pocket, which is kind of embarrassing at cocktail parties.

America is a land that rewards failure (see Thoroughly Modern Milley's chest), which is why it lost the war. On 9/11 Bush had left the room to read My Pet Goat to grade-schoolers, after which he spent the day being flown to one "secure location" and then leaving the room to fly to another (presumably even more) "secure location". On Saturday, he was speaking in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where twenty years ago, after "everybody left the room", the ad-hoc militia of the fourth plane provided the only good news of that grim Tuesday: If the twin towers were Pearl Harbor, Flight 93 was the Doolittle Raid, and on the very same day.

Bush owed a debt to these men for acting while he was invisible. Yet his brief remarks barely mentioned those heroes, and none by name. Instead, he retreated to the lame tropes of the ruling class, and started yakking on about "nativism" and "religious bigotry" (ours, not the hijackers') in contrast to those admirable Americans who "reaffirm their welcome to immigrants and refugees". These are surely pitiful consolations for the Afghan debacle, and weirdly irrelevant to the heroes of Flight 93, who were rather deplorably unicultural - "white male frat jock yuppies". As for "welcoming immigrants", one might think that, even for as oblivious a ruling-class man as Bush, that would be in somewhat bad taste given what happened twenty years ago. They did so by bribing a Salvadorean illegal immigrant to certify that they all lived at his address. Hundreds lived in his modest flat: it's part of the non-gaming of the non-system that is not only tolerated but venerated by the Uniparty.

Among the beneficiaries of the 7-Eleven ID scam was Ziad Jarrah, who led the team that stormed the cockpit of Flight 93 and who took the pilot's seat.

Which is why Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Jeremy Glick, Tom Burnett and thirty-six other passengers and crew are dead.

This is What a Whole of Government Epistemic Failure Looks Like

 3 years and 2 months; 38 months. That is how long the Soviet trained Afghan Army and government lasted after the withdraw of the Red Army.

There is your benchmark. The Soviets were 38-times more successful in Afghanistan than we were, and they did it in half the time.

Let that soak in. Let the humiliation flow over you like a healing balm. Fear and shame – regardless of what modern minds try to tell you otherwise – are great motivators. Let this motivate you.

Almost exactly two decades after the attacks of 9/11, as a nation we are covered in disgrace. A global humiliation on a national scale. Accept that. Hold it close to you. Feel it. Smell it. Know it, because it will be attached to us for at least the rest of the decade – most likely longer.

Good people can agree or disagree about staying or going from Afghanistan, but no one can defend how we did it.

Everyone here who [was] given responsibility by the American people failed.

The president failed. . . . All our intelligence agencies failed their government and the people.

Our think tanks, the legions of foreign policy and diplomacy PhDs from all the right schools who populate the National Security State who like to tell everyone how smart they are – they all failed.

What should we have done about the Wuhan flu?

The short answer to those who were for masking, social distancing, and lockdown.

Lockdowns were NOT common sense measures. They were hysterical reactions out of fear. Here are 15 of just some of the reasons why it was not common sense.  

(I’m not including all the reasons we have NOW to see they were a bad idea.)

MY RESPONSE

1/First, this isn’t “Mark against the scientific community.”

This is one subcommunity of scientists who agreed with the narrative the media and politicians were pushing, and those same scientists thereby became the “experts” in their stories, and represented “The Science.” 

2/Another huge community of scientists worldwide were against this since the start. But their story didn’t fit the narrative of “an altogether novel and dangerous virus that we should do anything and everything including violating civil rights en masse in order to stop.”  

3/I am associated with several organizations of scientist who have been opposing this from the start. Just because CNN tells you “experts say” doesn’t mean “experts say.” It’s bullshit. 

4/As for where the responsibilities are...

For those proposing altogether novel, draconian, civil rights quashing interventions, what was required was to provide a cost-benefit analysis, including the obvious potential for devastating side effects.

They did no such analysis. 

5/Instead, they misapplied the Precautionary Principle, saying “We have to do something out of precaution!”

But the Precautionary Principle is that the burden of evidence is on those proposing the new, untested policy. 

6/Lockdowns, mandatory masking, social distancing, etc. WERE the new, untested policies. …AND were explicitly recommend AGAINST as of 2019. They were enacted by panic, copy-catting other nations & states, and CYA (to be seen as doing something).  

7/Not only did they not do the utility calculus on both sides of the equation, they pretended that we live in China, where there are no civil rights.

The first two principles for medicine are

(1) Do no harm.

(2) Obtain consent.

Both were violated. 

8/The harms have in fact been massive. And obvious. I was shouting against it on social media since March 10 of 2020, along with like-minded colleagues on the Left, Center and Right. 

9/And — worse — the interventions have been shown to not even have narrowly worked. Their ONLY effect was the devastating side effects, to health (short and long term lockdown deaths) and livelihoods (crashed economies). 

10/The responsibility is not on me to say what else we should have done.

DOING NOTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN DRAMATICALLY PREFERABLE! 

11/But there WERE obvious things to do.

The infection fatality rate ranges from 0.0002% for <18 years old (which is many times safer than flu) to 5% or even more for those pushing 80+ with comorbidities (which is potentially several times worse than the average flu).

That’s four or so orders of magnitude variation, and so there is absolutely no reason to overturn society, because the folks in danger are painfully obvious.

Focused protection of THOSE individuals was all that was needed.

Trump is looking better all the time. His policies are working. The economy, after years of Obama telling us poverty was "the new normal" and we'd better get used to it, is doing well.

Trump is supposedly greedy, yet he's done the job for several years now without pay. He's taken all manner of endless abuse and yet when he responds, he's excoriated for that.

We're told repeatedly there is no money for Social Security for people who have worked hard all their lives, yet there is apparently an endless font of goodies for illegal aliens.

We see politicians magically become millionaires and wonder how that is possible on their stated salaries.

They say they are for us, yet everything the do to us makes us poorer and enriches them.

We knew government was corrupt, we just didn't know it was evil. Now we do.

Trump has a servant's heart. He may not be highly polished, but I would rather have someone who makes my life better than pretty words and a bleak future.

Merkel says German multiculturalism has failed

After allowing a flood of culturally unassimilable Muslims from North Africa into Germany Merkel admits that she was totally wrong.  She not only allowed this influx of people who had no interest in becoming "Germans" but implemented it and called anyone who opposed it a racist.  Now German women are afraid to leave the house alone and female refugees in camps are often the subject of attacks by the overwhelmingly male migrants.

These people were supposed to substitute for the children native Germans did not have.

While Elites Gnaw on Stale Agendas, the Future Is Full of Things We've Yet to Imagine

Today the political elites are in a crisis resulting from an expected future that didn't happen. The End of History didn't pan out; Russia and China failed to join the liberal democratic club; the EU fell apart. The global world failed to last. But Brexit and the defeat of Hillary did not spur them to listen; instead, it inspired frantic efforts to reimpose absolute control via Chinese 5G, facial recognition, Google surveillance, G7 pacts against hate speech, and the NYT witch hunt against white supremacy.

Is it any wonder they are failing? That depression is rising among youngsters and social tensions are increasing? Not only are they jamming themselves, they are suppressing the small still voice that whispers in the heart of undiscovered genius. As the political elites gnaw at the ends of their stale agendas it is hard to remember that the future is still full of hope, danger, love, opportunity and things yet undreamed of. Will we send ourselves an interocitor? Maybe. But if we're not free to listen for the signal then the world will most certainly be stuck with a politically correct and strictly rationed turboencabulator.

With China and tariffs in the news the last few days, the headlines have been driving the market.  On the whole, I think that working for a level playing field vs-a-vs our trading partners is long over-due.

The US has been running huge deficits domestically and corporate America has been outsourcing manufacturing to low labor-cost countries for decades.  The stock market cheered each time a company announced layoffs and outsourcing.

 It has devastated a large part of the country that once thrived as manufacturing centers, left millions unemployed, and lots of American cities and town - like Detroit, once the world's auto capital - hollowed out. 

All the while radical environmentalists in and out of government suppressed domestic energy production and made us increasingly vulnerable to foreign despots and petro-sheiks.

There is a great deal of anger at the leaders who allowed this ... no, made it happen.  They bragged that they were the "Best and the Brightest."  They preened about their superior sophistication and morality.  Instead, they were the worst and the dumbest, and they were evil.  

I'm so, so, so sorry: A Baby Boomer apologizes on behalf of his generation

The previous generation, the Greatest Generation, saved the world by sending Orwell’s rough men into the crucible of war in the interest of peace. My generation, the Baby Boomers, was to live the life purchased for us by the boys of Normandy, the Ardennes, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and other killing fields. White marble crosses and Stars of David in these places testify to the enormous price of that purchase. And live we did. What a party we threw ourselves. So, as I reflect on the goodness of the job my generation has done, I apologize. I apologize for it all.

I apologize that we Boomers bankrupted this great nation. We made all manner of promises to ourselves while leaving you the bill. Herbert Hoover once quipped that “blessed are the young, for they shall inherit the national debt.” He was only partially right; it’s far worse than that. I’m not talking about $22 trillion in treasury debt or even the exponential rate at which it’s growing. I’m talking unfunded liabilities....

In accounting terms, we have a negative net worth. In everyday terms, we’ve already spent or committed everything we have, everything, to support our generation’s lifestyle, now and in retirement. And it’s no accident. Just because we don’t care doesn’t mean we don’t understand. By the time the bill comes due, we’ll have the distinct advantage of being dead. So, if you think paying off your college loans is going to be tough, I have a shovel-ready infrastructure project to sell you.

He's not entirely wrong, but he's a snotty example of the kind of asshole who managed to ruin the country while thinking he was better than you.

Over Half of the Federal Government’s Spending Data Is Wrong

They even lie about the numbers.

The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by chairman Rob Portman (R., Ohio) and ranking member Tom Carper (D., Del.), released a report Tuesday finding nearly every agency is failing to accurately report its spending as required by federal law.

The subcommittee reviewed over two dozen inspector general reports and determined 55 percent of the spending data submitted to USAspending.gov was inaccurate. The errors accounted for $240 billion in spending during the second quarter of 2017, according to the report.

The Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014, or DATA Act, required federal spending to be easily accessible to the public through a searchable website, which became USAspending.gov. The website was revamped earlier this year, but agencies are not meeting their requirements to submit accurate, consistent, and reliable data on its spending.

The agency in charge of USAspending.gov—the Treasury Department—is among the worst culprits, as 96 percent of its own data is inaccurate.

"The most troubling aspect of the Treasury Department's difficulties in submitting accurate data to USAspending.gov is that it is the very agency that created the DATA Act standards for [the] rest of the federal government," the report said.

One hundred percent of the Defense and Energy departments' spending was either incorrectly reported or not reported at all.

The Pentagon's inspector general warned, "Policymakers may not be able to rely on the DoD's financial and award data to make decisions and effectively plan for mission critical programs and operations."

The rapidity with which the status quo of "open borders" has been overtaken by the "populist crisis" suggests that, like the financial crisis of 2008, a bubble has burst. It went broke gradually then all of a sudden. The globalization and multiculturalism that were supposed to have delivered prosperity and security have not paid off. This failure has started a run on political capital of elites which has yet to stop.

Trump and the European populists are picking up political assets at a bargain. Glenn Reynolds observed:

[T]he press has three main kinds of power. One is to motivate the left. Another is to swing the middle. And the third is to demoralize the right. It’s pretty much lost the last of these, and I suspect the second one is fading too.

The Liberals leaders read their own press releases too long.

The army’s leaders, which in 2017, consist mainly of social justice warriors, flaming liberals and back-stabbing ticket-punching, perfumed princes, have consistently demonstrated that they possess neither the warrior ethos nor the moral courage to challenge the social engineering insanity invading the lean green machine.

Our country’s national security is being damaged every day and the army’s senior leadership is more focused on political correctness and diversity than war fighting.

Making young, male ROTC cadets parade around in red high heels to show empathy for some asinine feminist cause is bad enough. Forcing male soldiers from the famous Big Red One or 1st Infantry Division, a unit that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, to wear pregnancy simulators to show empathy for some asinine feminist cause is bad enough. The Secretary of the Army ordering officers and troopers worldwide to balance lactation support and readiness is bad enough…

But, when the Green Berets, one of the greatest fighting forces of all time, completely abandon all physical standards for soldiers hoping to serve in Special Forces, you know that the Hour of the Clusterf**k is not approaching, but has indeed arrived.

AG Sessions orders examination of Bundy case after mistrial over prosecution bungling

The case, which involves 19 defendants spread over three tiers, has been riddled with setbacks for the prosecution, including a previous mistrial, hung juries and acquittals on lesser figures in the April 2014 armed confrontation with BLM agents.

Judge Navarro said the prosecutors had willfully failed to disclose key evidence in the case, including FBI records about surveillance and government snipers at the Bundy ranch, activity logs, law enforcement threat assessments showing the Bundy family posed no threat of violence, and internal reports about BLM agent misconduct.

She dismissed the jury after seven weeks in the latest trial involving the second of the three tiers of co-defendants.

All four in the latest trial are considered leaders of the confrontation with the BLM, which began after agents tried to impound the ranch’s cattle following Cliven Bundy’s refusal for years to pay grazing fees in a protest over federal land management.
