"Driver in Wrong Lane Contends with On-Rushing Semi."

Steven Hayward at Powerline  uses a WSJ headline Obama Contends With Arc of Instability Not Seen Since ‘70s to make the point that the the world has not been in this much turmoil since Jimmy Carter's presidency.

Also mentioned is Glenn Reynolds' prediction that "a rerun of Carter might be a best-case scenario for the Obama presidency."   All we need is a killer rabbit and double digit inflation to   cover all the Carter lowlights.  Of course Carter did not arm Mexican drug gangs (Fast & Furious), set the IRS on his political opponents, get an ambassador killed, create a failed state (Libya), completely lose any influence we ever had in the Middle East, lose a war retroactively, watch over the re-assembly of the Soviet Empire, encourage Central Americans to invade the US, inflame America's race relations, or spend several billion dollars on vacations.

The headline I use comes from the comments, where it's noted that the  WSJ article really attempts to deflect the blame from Obama.
Obama didn't do it, it was bad luck. Mysteriously, US power has waned around the world and that mysteriously coincided with an increase of upheaval around the world.

In fact, these aren't at all like George Bush's wars, these are just security crises ("A convergence of security crises..."). Which should remind everyone that most of these security issues began under a previous administration.
This is the theme of all the so-called reporting in the MS, it's not Obama's fault, bad things just seem to happen to him.

Cartel hitman testifies to 800 murders, daily quotas at kingpin's trial.

Jesus Ernesto Chavez Castillo, a star witness in the murder trial of Arturo Gallegos Castrellon, told jurors in an El Paso federal courtroom how the Barrio Azteca Gang Catrellon grew from a Texas jail gang into contract killers for the notorious Juarez cartel. Thousands of murders committed by the gang over a four-year period helped Juarez earn the dubious title of "Murder Capital of the World."

Chavez testified he stopped counting the number of people he killed at 800, and said he often beheaded and dismembered victims to impress his boss. The idea was "that it would be big news," he said.

These are the kind of people that the Obama administration armed with American guns during operation Fast and Furious.

The Stupid Party

You have to give credit where credit is due: Obama lies like a champ and can change the subject like the best of them.  Note his insistence that there is not one bit of scandal surrounding the IRS harassment of conservative groups.

When the Democrats in and out of the media gin up their propaganda campaign and manage to turn a traffic jam in Ft. Lee into a national scandal, Republicans and the conservative talking heads rub their chins, feign concern and join in.  The response should be "f**k you."

The Diplomad has it right.
In a criminal effort to deny Americans their second amendment right to bear arms, our government has deliberately and illegally exported arms to ruthless Mexican and Central American drug cartels, which have used them to kill hundreds of people including two US federal agents. That same government then sought to blame those weapon exports on law-abiding American gun stores and gun shows. Once neutral agencies of government, such as the IRS, the FBI, the EPA, and hordes of prosecutors target and suppress dissent and discredit opponents.

Wherever one looks in the world, our foreign policy and intelligence operations are in tatters. We have alienated life-long friends such as the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, and Israel, and have reduced the scope, reach and credibility of American power, e.g., note the disasters underway in Latin America, Libya, Egypt, Iran, and Iraq. Our intelligence agencies are used more to spy on Americans than to counter the real threats we face from Muslim jihadis, and resurgent Chinese and Russian nationalisms. Our President lies about it all.

The political environment for the opposition is a target-rich one. The Republicans should be rejoicing at the prospect of a clean sweep in November's mid-term elections and the Presidential ones in 2016. Instead GOP leaders engage in attacks on Tea Party activists--who have been consistently right on policy issues, by the way--and let the Democrats set the agenda and tell us what is and is not open for discussion. Bengahzi, IRS, EPA Solyndra, Fast and Furious, those are all phony scandals; what we must discuss is whether Governor Christie knew about, allowed, or ordered the closing of two lanes of traffic on the George Washington Bridge to punish a political opponent in Ft. Lee, New Jersey.
The Dems have learned how to create phony scandals and the Stupid Party goes along.

An Obama Shown to be a Liar is Vulnerable as Old Scandals Resurface

You may have noticed that old scandals, ones that had been buried by a media complicit in the Obama cover-up, are beginning to be mentioned again?  For a long time you were considered a nut if you dared bring up Fast & Furious or any of the other nefarious activities Obama has been involved in.

Now that Obama's lies are open for everyone - even the most uninformed - to see, It's no longer a sign of derangement to mention them.

Here's PJ Media's David Solway in an article about Obama's desire to fatally weaken Israel, in which he mentions some history that propagandists like Chris Matthews does not want to see resurrected:
Regrettably, it has taken much of the world five more years to realize that Obama is a trained prevaricator of the first water, whether the issue is government transparency, receding oceans, competitive bidding, citizen surveillance, deficit cutting, the closing of Gitmo, unilateral military action, Fast and Furious, Obamacare, and, in the realm of foreign policy, Iran and Israel. Obama’s evasions and hollow assurances on this latter file demonstrably imperil the future of the Middle East and, quite possibly, the safety of the planet. It certainly spells imminent danger for Israel.
It's no longer absurd to ask what Obama's lied about when he lies about little things like having met his uncle or big, big lies like ObamaCare.  Fast & Furious is a scandal with death at it's result.  Benghazi is a scandal where men were deliberately left to die so that Obama could win an election.

Don't you wonder why so many of Obama's Kenyan relatives live in the US?

Millions Who Lost Health Insurance Are All Racists For Being Furious With Liar-In-Chief

Billionaire Oprah Winfrey says people lack respect for the Liar-in-Chief because of the color of his skin.

Some disagree ...

Level of disrespect?

I'll tell you a level of disrespect, you hateful shrew:

How about disrespecting the millions of Americans who just lost their health care after being promised dozens of times by the Liar-In-Chief that they could "keep their plans"?

How about disrespecting the families of those killed in Benghazi? A president who lied right to their faces about the cause of the attack and didn't lift a finger to save them.

How about disrespecting the families of the hundreds killed by Operation Fast and Furious? A president who gave or sold thousands of military-grade weapons to Mexican drug cartels as part of a truly evil plot to demonize gun-owners.

How about disrespecting all of those conservatives, Christian, and pro-Israel groups targeted by Obama? A president who used the IRS to win the 2012 election and then lied about it.

You're a hack, a clueless know-nothing, a Leftist kook who claims entirely legitimate criticism of the Liar-In-Chief's outrageous activities is based on "racism".

Go drink a nice, tall glass of shut-up juice and get the hell off of my television.

Holder loses court fight fight to hide "Fast & Furious" documents

The illegal gun running operation intended to  "prove" that US gun laws are responsible for Mexican violence, often and incorrectly referred to by the lackeys in the media as a "botched" operation, may see some more damning evidence of high Department of Justice collusion if Holder loses the suit and complies with the court order.  Of course he will not, not without a fight.
In a ruling Monday night, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson turned down the Justice Department’s request to dismiss a lawsuit brought by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee after President Barack Obama asserted executive privilege to prevent some records about the administration’s response to the “Operation Fast and Furious” gunrunning scandal from being turned over to Congress.
The order will not force Holder to produce the documents, however, since it only says that the court will not dismiss the lawsuit. Now it can go forward, meaning that Holder can let the clock run down.

What is frustrating is that this political operation lead to the deaths of thousands of Mexicans, killed by American guns just to "prove" a lie and designed to pass laws restricting American's right to buy guns. There is a tremendous amount of blood on Holder and his boss - Obama's - hands and the Democrats - in and out of the media - are fine with it. The government has killed a lot of people over the years, some by accident and some with malice, but I don't recall a US government operation that was deliberately designed to kill thousands of people for political purposes, to gin up outrage so that a law would be passed limiting a right of a free people.

Blaming Bush for domestic spying

I have been tempted to agree with the left’s argument that it’s all “Bush’s fault” because he started the data collection that we have today.  But that’s like blaming the murders in Chicago on the guy who invented gunpowder.  Data collection is a tool and thanks to technology we’re better at it than ever.  But the person using it and the way it’s used that determines if the use is evil or good.
The NSA program and the way it's implemented, spying on reporters, IRS abuses, Fast & furious, Benghazi are all Obama programs and he is responsible.

Fast & Furious: "I don’t think it was a “failed gun-tracking operation” at all."

Glenn Reynolds and I are on the same page.  Fast & Furious was not a failed gun-tracking operation because the guns were not tracked.  The only logical use of this program was to provide proof that guns bought in America were found at Mexican crime scenes.  It was specifically designed to "prove" that US guns were responsible for Mexican crimes.  If the truth was otherwise, Fast & Furious was designed to change the facts.

THERE IS NO OTHER LOGICAL REASON FOR THE WAY THIS ACTIVITY WAS IMPLEMENTED.

I don't mean to shout, but the media's references to this as a "failed gun tracking operation" is nuts.

So now we can add a dead Mexican police chief to the toll of Team Obama's drive for gun control.
“A high-powered rifle lost in the ATF’s Fast and Furious controversy was used to kill a Mexican police chief in the state of Jalisco earlier this year.

Obama scandals go international

The scandals revealed underf Obama domesstically include
  • "Fast & Furious" - running guns to the Mexican drug cartels
  • Sending the IRS after the Tea Party
  • Sending the IRS after individuals that contriubted to Romney
  • Sending the IRS after Christians and patriots
  • Abandoning our troops in Benghazi for politcal cover
  • Lying about Benghazi for political advantage
  • Making a film-maker a politcal prisoner
  • Sending the FBI after the AP
  • Accusing Fox news reporter James Rosen of being a criminal
  • Lying to congress
  • Recording all US phone calls
  • Probably hacking into the computer of a repoeter who actaully followed the Benghazi and the Fast & Furious gun running scandals.
The rest of the world is now getting a taste of the first Nobel Prize winner who got his prize for not being his predecessor in office.

How does Holder survive?

Michael A. Walsh calls him Obama's alter ego. Holder says and does things that the president can't say.

By turns whiny, shifty, obfuscatory, petulant, insulting and arrogant, Holder has become a fixture before congressional investigating committees, fending off one Obama scandal after another, while proclaiming that he — the nation’s top cop — doesn’t know anything about anything and highly resents any implication that he does.

Indeed, all the Obama scandals — the murderous gunrunning scheme called Fast and Furious, the secret monitoring of the Associated Press and Fox News reporter James Rosen (personally approved by Holder), even the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative and Tea Party groups for special scrutiny — find their nexus at the top of the Justice Department.

That's true but there is a much bigger reason. Holder is more than Obama's trigger man, he's holding Obama up. There are too many bodies buried by Holder to allow someone else, perhaps with a higher threshold of corruption, to take over Justice. Obama can't take the chance that the truth of Fast and Furious, the IRS, the internal spying, come out during his administration.

Without Holder, Obama becomes vulternable to the law. Glenn Reynolds: Holder is also protection

Mexican kids are being murdered for a good cause!

The Diplomad 2.0 reminds us that dead kids are always and everywhere a prop for the left to advance their agenda.  The people of Sandy Hook are begin exploited to promote disarming the american people.  Before that the Obama Administration was busy "proving" that American guns were arming the Mexican drug cartels.

I have learned from the left over the past decades is that it's the ends that count. Everything and everyone is merely a prop for some political objective. Poor Bolivian Indians . . . great, an opportunity to bash international corporations, capitalism, and the USA. Dead white kids in a school . . . great, an opportunity to undermine the second amendment and that hideously embarrassing Red Neck "gun culture." Dead black or hispanic kids on the streets of Chicago and LA . . . great, an opportunity to blame it on gun owners in Virginia and Florida. Need to "prove" American gun stores supply the cartels? No problem, set up a government program to ship thousands of guns to Mexican criminals and watch the body count rise! Those Mexican kids are being murdered for a good cause!

Obama and the Newtown Dead

The DiploMad gives the back of his hand to Obama in his discussion of the shootings.

Obama. OK, to my chagrin, he's President, and modern Presidents see themselves as consolers, grief counselors, and dispensers of teary hokum. But this one, really? This one talking about gun violence? This is the President who to make political points against the NRA and those who defend the second amendment had his administration ship thousands of weapons to some of the most violent and best organized criminals on the planet, the Mexican drug cartels. He sought to blame the violence in Mexico on Americans' right to keep and bear arms. The result? At least two dead US agents and hundreds of dead Mexicans, including teenagers and children. Yes, children. Children with parents who grieve as much as the parents in Newtown do. The grieving American parents, however, know that the man responsible for their children's murders is dead; the grieving Mexican parents, on the other hand, know that the man responsible for their children's murders got re-elected to a second term as President of the United States--in large part thanks to the votes of Mexicans in the US. It seems that the lives of Mexicans only count when they emigrate to the US and vote Democrat.

I wish I had said that

The Virginian Pilot’s Front Page Editorials

The Virginian Pilot, like most of the MSM doesn’t keep its editorial opinion on the editorial page. The paper’s editorial opinions are on full display on the front page.

How?

By its editors’ decisions as to what constitutes the news.

Since the shootings in Connecticut, the editors of the Virginian Pilot have decided that the front page of this so-called “local” paper should be devoted to the shooting. Not so controversial you say? Well, what about relegating the Benghazi attacks on our embassy and the death of our Americans to the back pages? Even today, the report that the Obama administration was derelict in its duty in protecting the embassy in Benghazi gets inside-the paper coverage.

Meanwhile the school shootings get covered on the front page of the paper, the front page of the second section (Hampton Roads) and the lead editorial, an op-ed, every letter to the editor that they printed as well as a totally misleading editorial cartoon by Tom Toles, a well-paid liar for the Washington Post, telling us that the shooter was using a machine gun (he wasn’t).

There was a brief mention on the inside of the paper about the fact that a pistol purchased by the George Gillett, Asst. Special Agent in Charge of ATF Phoenix when Fast and Furious began ended up at a fatal shooting in Mexico. What was not mentioned is that Agent Gillett falsified information to buy the gun in the first place.   No curiosity was exhibited as to how a gun owned by the ATF agent in charge of the ATF Phoenix office ended up in a Mexican crime scene.   It must be just one of those coincidences.  But it does allow the Virginian Pilot's editors to claim later on, in case anyone  ever asks, that they covered the story.  It's called papering your behind.

And once again the paper called Fast and Furious a “botched gun tracking operation” when it was nothing of the sort. There was no gun tracking. The Obama administration facilitated the sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels. Every time Fast & Furious is described as a botched operation it furthers that lie that somehow the transfer of over 2000 guns to violent killers in Mexico was an accident. Let’s put it as plainly as we can. Fast & Furious was deliberately designed to provide an excuse for new gun control laws by insuring that American guns would appear at Mexican murder scenes. That having failed to use Fast & Furious as intended, the Obama administration, in coordination with the MSM have gleefully used the shootings in Connecticut as the new excuse to take guns out of the hands of civilians.

Next time the press tries to tell you that the editorials are relegated to the editorial page, keep this simple example in mind.

As college student, Eric Holder participated in ‘armed’ takeover of former Columbia University ROTC office

Via the Daily Caller.

Today he's still breaking the law.

With that background, I can understand why he is willing to cause a few hundred deaths via Fast & Furious to achieve his master's desire for disarming Americans.

Paul Ryan Calls For Holder to Step Aside

Ryan e-mail

It's time for Attorney General Holder to step aside.

He's misled Congress, and entirely botched the investigation of the Operation Fast and Furious debacle -- yet he still leads our nation's Justice Department.

It's just another example of the Obama Administration's transparent hypocrisy that despite the tragic and very human toll of this scandal, Attorney General Holder refuses to resign -- and President Obama refuses to remove him.

It's up to the American people to replace both of them on November 6. Let's call it "The Clear Choice."

There's only one thing i disagree with Ryan about.  Fast & Furious was not a botched operation.  It did exactly what it was intended to do, cause bloodshed in Mexico with American guns.  It only went off the rails when an American border agent was killed.  Then it became an Obama/Holder cover-up while the American  MSM looked away.  I'm amazed and gratified that UNIVISION is doing what none of the boot-licking press has the integrity to do.

Emails reveal Justice Dept. regularly enlists Media Matters to spin press

Eric Holder and Media Matters are joined at the hip.
Media Matters acting as the defense arm of a corrupt political organization

Internal Department of Justice emails obtained by The Daily Caller show Attorney General Eric Holder’s communications staff has collaborated with the left-wing advocacy group Media Matters for America in an attempt to quell news stories about scandals plaguing Holder and America’s top law enforcement agency.
Dozens of pages of emails between DOJ Office of Public Affairs Director Tracy Schmaler and Media Matters staffers show Schmaler, Holder’s top press defender, working with Media Matters to attack reporters covering DOJ scandals. TheDC obtained the emails through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Read the whole thing at the Daily Caller. The e-mails show the DOJ vigorously trying to stamp out information relating to Fast & Furious as well as the Black Panther voter intimidation case.  While it may seem as if this may not matter very much; after all Media Matters is a minor part of the media complex.  But it forces the rest of the media to treat Fast & Furious as a "botched" operation instead of a purposeful operation which almost achieved its intended objective.  An organization acting as a virtual arm of a corrupt regime has much more power than a casual observer might expect.

House Sues Holder

House Republicans on Monday asked the federal courts to intervene and force the Obama administration to turn over documents from the botched Fast and Furious gun-walking operation, escalating what had been a simmering constitutional crisis.

House Speaker John A. Boehner said President Obama and his team were ignoring a congressional subpoena — something the courts have long recognized as valid — and said lawmakers were left with no choice but to ask the third branch to referee.
“By stonewalling Congress and ignoring a contempt order, the Justice Department has left the House no choice but to take legal action so we can get to the bottom of the Fast and Furious operation that cost border agent Brian Terry his life,” Mr. Boehner said.

This was from the Washington Times.   Nothing yet in the NY Times.  The Washington Post carries an AP story.  Nothing in the LA Times yet.  The House of Representatives filing suit against the Attorney General must not be newsworthy.  I suspect that the alphabet networks won't cover it either.  Which explains

What Do You Know?

What Do You Know?

People constantly make the mistake that the people around them hear, read, see and are interested in many of the same things that they are interested in.

Wrong, buffalo breath.

We may have kept up with the news on Fast & Furious and one of Obama's most notorious lines, But Bud Norman at Central Standard Times discovers that when he used “you didn’t build that” as a joke, a woman who was there was puzzled. We are fortunate in that we get a great deal of information from multiple sources and fail to realize that there are still a lot of people who get their view of reality from a press that shields them from information that they consider to be harmful to the Left.
Her ignorance of the speech left us looking perplexed. After all, the speech had been widely reported by almost all of the media, touched off a week’s worth of debate among the chattering classes, been highlighted by a widely disseminated advertisement from the Romney campaign, and it’s “You didn’t built that” line had immediately become as iconic an epigram for Obama’s administration as “I didn’t have sex with that woman” had been for Bill Clinton’s. We had assumed that the phrase was by then as ubiquitous as a catch phrase from “Laugh-In” or “Seinfeld,” and that even the most obstinately ignorant Americans would be aware of it, so it came a surprise that such a sentient woman could have somehow been aware of it.

People do manage to avoid hearing of such things, though, and often enough that we really shouldn’t have been surprised by the woman’s apparently blissful ignorance. We can recall another conversation with a young fellow who boasted of how the current administration had gone three years without a single scandal, which he clearly regarded as a most remarkable accomplishment. We asked if he didn’t consider the Fast and Furious operation, with its Keystone Kops plotline and massive body count, or find the Solyndra fiasco, with its mix of high-minded “green” idealism and corrupt cronyism, to be scandals. We then threw in the resignations of admitted communist Van Jones and the Mao-admiring Anita Dunn, the Justice Department’s lax attitude towards black supremacist voter intimidation, and a few other choice contretemps, asking if he didn’t find any of these the least bit scandalous. He was not only unfamiliar with any of the stories, but dubious that they had happened at all, and angrily demanded to know if we had heard these scurrilous lies on the Fox network.
We may think that people who support Obama are aware of these issues and are simply ignoring them.  We would be wrong; they may often be the victims of the MSM.
