Dennis Hartig is the Editorial Page Editor of this vapid collection of outsourced news. Apparently he doesn't think much of the decision of some Catholic Bishops to deny communion to abortion advocates. I mean, just because Catholics condemn abortion as a sin? So today we are treated to an editorial cartoon by Mike Peters who is with the Dayton Daily News. The picture is of a church with one lone parishioner and two clerics in the pulpit. The priest says to the Bishop: "Well first you banned pro-choice politicians, the pro-choice voters, then stem cell advocates, then gays, then gay marriage judges, then..."
Funny, my experience with people in the pews is that if the advocates of abortion, infanticide, and gay marriage were "banned," attendance would increase. The fastest growing church groups in this country are the ones that most closely adhere to traditional Christian teaching. The go-along-to-get-along churches are the ones who are dying.
But that's not the opinion of Mr. Hartig. If he goes to a church on Easter Sunday - and have no idea if he does - I would be willing to place a hefty wager on this choice of denominations.
