So, the hot news now is Barack Obama.
Obama this, Obama that... Naturally, it is very laudable that the United States may have chosen to look beyond the issue of race and opted for a person purely on the merit of his character. But what will they find?
The usual hot air that Washington politicians seem to have made their own. Mr Obama is no different. We’re just too politically correct to say that the only thing refreshing about him is his colour. So we say he’s “bipartisan”, or he’s a “uniter”.
Whatever happened to leadership and honesty as presidential traits? I happen to believe that the only leader in the West to have these two admirable qualities in droves is the leader of the free world: George W Bush.
Yes, we’ve all heard the Bushisms and laughed at them but do you really think somebody supposedly that thick can make it to the top of the most sophisticated political system the world has ever seen?

When your father was the President and your family is very wealthy and powerful and already has a place in the infrastructure of American politics, yes.
I assume the next thing you are going to say is he purposefully makes no sense with his words so people will underestimate his mental prowess and now most of the world hates us because we have a brilliant, wonderful president?
There is being a Republican and then there is just being blinded and in denial.
Sir, welcome to the latter.
Dear anon:
I have no idea where you are getting your talking points but I suggest that you give a few moments of thought before repeating them. It will make you appear less foolish.
First, if the Presidency could be passed along from father to son, it would certainly have happened a lot more frequently in American political history. Unfortunately for your case, it happened only twice. I leave you to guess who the other family was.
Second, compared to many people in politics the Bushes are relative paupers. Yes, they have millions of dollars, but poor little Obama raised more money this month than the total net worth of the Bush family combined.
If wealth and a place in the infrastructure of American politics was the key to the presidency, we would be seeing a succession of Kennedys in the white House.
Third, George Bush is not a spellbinding public speaker but his words make a great deal of sense. He is noted by some very shallow people for his malapropisms, but then so it the Messiah Obama who has apparently visited about 57 states.
And finally the rest of the world does not hate us, especially that part of the world that knows the difference between tyranny and freedom because they have been freed from oppression within the memory of those who are still living. Unfortunately most people in the US think that political freedom is the natural state of people, and that no effort is needed to maintain it except to drag their sorry asses to the polls and vote for the bozo who promised them the most. They are sadly mistaken.
Thanks for your stupid comment. It gave me an opportunity to vent.
