Nothing Personal, It's Just An Honor Killing

It appears that the marriage wasn’t working out and the wife wanted a divorce. She lived with her father in Georgia and he lived in Chicago. But divorce in Pakistan appears to involve family honor and so the woman’s father killed her.

I wanted to see what the law war regarding divorce In Pakistan. It appears that the LAW provides for an end to marriage without the necessity of killing the wife. So the murder of the woman was due to mere custom rather than prescribed by Sharia.

But the killing of women to save family honor is fairly common in these societies. Not having been brought up a Muslim, the thought of killing my daughter for wishing to get a divorce is hard to understand. But it does bring to mind the warning that the nice Moslem next door may just kill you for religious reasons or from custom; but it won’t be personal.
