When we want you to have a voice, we'll give it to you. Until then, shut up: Virginian Pilot

Virginian Pilot Editorial:
A health care debate at top of our lungs

The half assed Pilot editorial staff begins by "begging the question"; note the desperate need for change:

For decades now, the congressional debate over health care has been so distorted by politics and money that it has been worse than useless - it has been an active impediment to reform of a broken system that is too expensive, serves too few and rations care based on insurance company caprice.

The vast majority of people who - when asked - are satisfied with the best health care in the world may disagree.

The rest of the rant questions the motives, credentials, morals and intelligence of people who are exercising their right to assemble and petition their government for redress of grievances.

The Pilot's editors take the oh-so fake "above the fray" position while demonizing their opponents and telling them to shut up and sit down.

It may be of interest to readers that the publisher of the Virginian Pilot replied to an e-mail I sent him that he wants to keep his company's health care plan. To give it up - to a government sponsored health care plan - he says, would lose the Pilot "talent." Those talented employees would not include the editorial staff who write this sort of drivel.

Racists.

The Pilot's editors are shocked that this should be happening. It's THEIR side that yells and screams. It's THEIR side that demonstrates, carries signs and pickets. It's THEIR side that shouts down Conservative speakers on campuses as a show of "vigorous oppostion" and student activism.

Jennifer Rubin: Democratic Culture Shock

The Democrats are understandably stunned. They and those sympathetic to them do control everything—the White House, Congress, the mainstream media, the popular culture, and elite education. And they still—despite all that power—can’t get the public to pipe down and go along quietly with their planned takeover of health care. What is wrong with everyone? You can sense the anger, the resentment. And the panic.

There is no playbook for the liberal establishment when they are in power while the crowds and much of the new media are in fevered opposition. After all it is the Left that is supposed to be filled with righteous indignation at the “establishment.” Moreover, the intensity is largely now on the side of the anti-ObamaCare forces — quite a reversal from the Bush era.

That explains the Virginian Pilot editorial. It's a yelp of rage.

UPDATE: At FreeRepublic a comment:
Scene: Tens of thousands of peasants surrounding the castle with pitchforks, hoes and torches, scowling and shouting “freedom” and “death to the king and to his lords”
Inside the inner chamber of the castle the kings squire hastily approaches the throne:

Squire: “Sire, the peasants are REVOLTING! The peasants are REVOLTING!”

Totally oblivious King: “Yes they are.”

The above scene is taking place in town halls and elsewhere, ALL OVER America, regarding Obama’s government run deathcare, “cap and trade,” “man made global warming” and amnesty for illegal aliens. Ironically, the attitude of most of those in power from our so-called “president,” on down to those in the House and Senate, is EXACTLY the same:

“The peasants are REVOLTING!”… “YES THEY ARE!”
