I am not persuaded that they need to be whipped into line no matter what Obama does. They are his natural allies, his public megaphone, his willing accomplices.

And if they should stray occasionally and cross an invisible line, and get slapped by Team Obama they will fall back into line like a battered wife come back to her abusive husband not just once but for a lifetime.
