Larry Correia is a bestselling author of thriller SF/fantasy fiction. He’s also a gun enthusiast. Now he’s written a nonfiction work on gun rights and the Second Amendment. I read an advance copy and found myself flying through the pages – it’s super-interesting and engaging, even to someone like me who’s been a shooter and gun-rights supporter and part of this world for many years. The book is In Defense of the Second Amendment, and it comes out on Tuesday.
I thought it would be nice to ask him some questions, which are featured below. As usual, the article is free to everyone, but comments are limited to paid subscribers.
So fiction pays a lot better than nonfiction – as a nonfiction author, believe me, I know – but you took time from writing bestselling fiction to produce a book on gun rights. Why? And why now?

Comment about the police action in Uvalde
How in the hell can anyone stand outside of the school while hearing gunshots coming from a classroom full of kids and not do SOMETHING.
If you're a cop and you have a gun, you damn well better beat down that door after the first shot.
If there is no shooting, I get it...maybe a hostage situation.
But once a shot is fired you go.
I understand that law enforcement officers are not obligated to risk their lives to protect anyone.
If true, that's even more reason to own a gun ad learn how to use it.
Start thinking of the police as revenue generators for your town/city and that would be an accurate job description.
They carry guns to protect themselves. You? Not so much...
The liberals have demonized and feminized law enforcement at every turn, and this is the result.

Warrant Served On St. Louis Couple Who Defended Private Property, Rifle Confiscated, Report Says
Mark McCloskey, who guarded his private property with an AR-15, told a local news station following the incident, “We were threatened with our lives, threatened with the house being burned down, my office building being burned down, even our dog’s life being threatened. It was about as bad as you can get. You know, I really thought it was the storming of Bastille, that we would be dead and the house would be burned and there was nothing we could do about it. It was a huge and frightening crowd and they broke in the gate and they were coming at us.”
St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, a Democrat, claimed that the McCloskey’s defending their private property was a “violent assault” and that authorities “will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.”
Albert Watkins, the McCloskeys’ attorney, told Fox News that “If Kimberly Gardner wants to press charges against two attorneys who are protecting their home and their family and themselves on their own property, I will tell you that it will be nothing short of the proverbial cluster f***.”
“Gardner, one of four Democrats running for St. Louis circuit attorney in the Aug. 2 primary, is taking heat for a new political ad paid for with money from a national super PAC that is at least partly funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.”

Seems like solid advice
THIS is what a leader looks like! Florida Sheriff warns, "The people in Polk County like guns, they have guns, I encourage them to own guns. If you try to break into their homes to steal, to set fires, I'm highly recommending they blow you back out of the house with their guns." pic.twitter.com/3UgVgHmpSk— Kaitlin Bennett (@KaitMarieox) June 1, 2020

Don’t Mess With Texas
Democrats in Virginia are lying about their motives when they propose new gun control laws. They know that these laws will not stop criminals from killing innocent people. They want you disarmed so that they can control you without fearing that you'll fight back.
In recent months, there have been a number of anti-Semitic attacks, including attacks on synagogues. There have been a number of attacks on churches as well. Anti-gun pieties do nothing to protect innocent people when lunatics or ideologically-motivated murderers strike. Churches and synagogues, like many other public places, should be protected. Armed guards are great, but as Glenn Reynolds has said, in any mass shooting situation there is one group of people who are present, by definition–the victims. Only, if they are armed, they don’t have to be victims.

Guns, and why the ideological screaming never stops
Where to place blame is a factor. It’s instructive that after Parkland liberal fire is aimed principally at the National Rifle Association (NRA) and not the FBI. This is though the FBI admits it didn't follow its own protocols, including not reacting to a tip that the reportedly-confessed killer wanted to be a “professional school shooter.”Some ask what the FBI could have done even if it had acted. A person can’t be arrested for what they might do. However, that’s irrelevant. Whatever difference the FBI could have made was lost in the bureaucracy.
