After decades of waiting for the federal government to act to protect the nation’s borders the state of Arizona has essentially passed a new law that is essentially the same as the federal law that has been on the books for decades so that Arizona officials can now enforce the laws against illegal immigration.

Treating people coming in from Mexico illegally as if they were her illegally. By caving in to the fringe 70% of the state’s population the cynical politicians are essentially trying to criminalize criminality.


And next what you’re trying to tell us that these illegals coming in across the border from Mexico just happen to be Mexicans.

Reminds me of the time Bill Clinton needed some stones on a beach in France; and they magically appeared. It would not have surprised me if the killed some birds, covered them in oil and put them on display for His Holiness.

Barack Obama’s media advisers were quite distressed when the President travelled down to the Louisiana coastline last week to make his first on-the-spot statement about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Their distress was caused by what they didn’t discover, rather than what they did. Despite their frantic requests, no photogenic dying oil-covered birds could be found to form a backdrop for the Presidential tirade as he weighed into BP.

Since dead birds covered in oil make such good media images, and the MFM is image obsesses, the scarcity of dead birds is distressing. 

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, only 21 birds have required oil-related treatment. The Fort Jackson Wildlife Rehabilitation Center says it has cleaned a further eight. As Paul Mulshine writes:

The birds don’t seem to be doing that bad. It turns out birds can fly. Who knew?

Oh, and Ted Turner hears from God

To say that Ted is not "real' religious is sort of like saying that I'm not a "real" follower of Islam. Ted is an atheist nutjob. But atheists use God more than Christians do.

Zombie makes his point, profanely.  And while I would respectfully disagree with some of his more extreme arguments, I think some of his points are worth repeating.

So you can see the urge of every sane-minded Westerner to say a hearty Fuck you! to anyone who tries to erode away the bedrock of our free society. The more insistent (and violent) these attempts at erosion, the less civil the resistance will become. Which is exactly as it should be. If the Islamists want us to to stop mocking (or even questioning) Mohammed, they can achieve this goal quite simply: Just go away and leave us alone. Don’t bother us, and we won’t bother you. Seriously, 99% of non-Muslims don’t give a good goddamn about Mohammed one way or the other, and we’d gladly ignore him and his followers til the end of time – if they’d just stop trying to boss us around. But if someone comes to our safe haven and tries to impose a repressive or restrictive rule on us, then that is the exact rule we’re going to flout until the interlopers learn their lesson: We don’t take kindly to bullshit medieval religious oppression in these parts.

It reminds me of the MFM during the series of lies told by Bill Clinton when they actually admired him as an unusually good liar.  They were not particularly upset that Clinton had lied openly and even perjured himself.  They were in his corner and were not going to give him the treatment typically reserved for their enemies.  It was also, although they did not know it at the time, the beginning of the end for them.

I am not a big fan of Ron Paul and I'm concerned about his son. But this looks like the beginning of a grass roots revolution that could overwhelm Washington with VERY far reaching consequences. This November may make the Gingrich revolution look like a return to normalcy.

DOJ Voting Rights attorney resigns over Black Panthers stonewalling

A trial attorney with the Department of Justice’s Voting Rights Section has resigned, citing concerns about the government’s refusal to prosecute a case involving voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party. A letter of resignation obtained by The Washington Examiner from a former Justice Department employee makes clear DOJ has refused to allow attorneys in the Voting Rights Section to testify before the congressionally-chartered bipartisan U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, despite subpoenas that could result in their being held in contempt.

They are also in fear of their lives.  The New Black Panthers must have studied the tactics of the followers of the "Religion of Peace."

As you also know, the defendants in the New Black Panther lawsuit have become increasingly belligerent in their rhetoric toward the attorneys who brought the case. (See eg., April 23, 2010 statement of Malik Zulu Shabazz,http://www.newblackpanther.com/usccrphony case statement.pdf, describing the “phony case” brought by “the modern day racist lynch mob seeking to hang what [we] think .are [our] modern slaves.”) Their grievances toward us generally echo the assertions that the facts and law did not support the lawsuit against them, ab initio. Knowing intimately the criminal character and violent tendencies of the members of New Black Panther Party, it is my profound hope that these assertions are tempered.

Then again, this is what we expect Mr. Ban to do. He is, after all, the highest functionary of the world’s most useless transnational organization, and sermonizing is mainly what its Secretary-General does. But I surely hope — within the bounds of diplomatic courtesy, of course — that Mr. Harper paid no attention to him. Or rather, since an air of candour seems to have prevailed at their tète-a-tète, Mr. Harper, as it were, returned serve.

For example, did Mr. Harper press him on the matter of Climategate and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)? Did he call to the Secretary-General’s attention the serial distortions, errors, non-peer-reviewed citations, the wholesale liftings from WWF and Greenpeace propaganda that made their way into the most recent IPCC report?

Little matters such as false claims on the melting of the Himalayan glaciers?

Did he bring up the serial mischiefs of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, as revealed by their leaked emails?

Now here's a new bit of evidence as Ken Cuccinelli pursues fraud on the part of Michael Mann.  From Canada Free Press by John O'Sullivan:  It seems that Michael Mann was plucked from obscurity (and some un-named academic scandal) by a sponsor whose life goal was to prove that human generated carbon dioxide caused man-made global warming. 

The investigation into the alleged global warming data fraud by Virginia’s Attorney General may soon have a whole new angle. This comes from a previously overlooked connection between discredited tree-ring proxy researcher, Michael Mann and Yale’s now deceased climate professor, Barry Saltzman.

Mann appears to have gotten into some academic hot water at Yale

It’s in 1996 that this story gets very curious. At that time Mann needed help to “defend” his Ph.D work in a documented but unexplained controversy at Yale. Inexplicably, this ‘controversy’ was peremptorily swept aside and between 1996-98 Mann was named as the Alexander Hollaender Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Fellow (DOE). All was now well and Yale gave Mann his Ph.D in 1998. One eminent source in my enquiries confirmed Mann’s Ph.D. was, in fact “rushed through.”

Instantly, Mann was then plucked from obscurity and appointed not just a contributing author for Chapters 7,8,12 of the IPCC’s Third Assessment Report (1998-00) but also Lead Author for Chapter 2. And with no track record whatsoever in this field, Mann now with tree ring data thrust into his hand, famously carved out his infamous ‘hockey stick’ graph.

So what miracle had turned this problematic researcher’s life around? If miracles ever happened then for Mann they came in the form of Barry Saltzman. You see, this struggling student’s career was transformed the moment Saltzman became his Ph.D advisor. Only after Saltzman applied his influence was Mann’s lofty credentials “rushed through.” Mann then turns himself into a makeshift tree ring counter and overnight becomes the iconic figure in the IPCC Third Report (2001). The rest is history, as they say.

Christopher Edley, dean of Berkeley's law school and a former Harvard law school professor, defends the fact that, if Elena Kagan is confirmed, the entire U.S. Supreme Court will consist of graduates of Harvard and Yale law schools.

This is something that strikes you forcefully, like the purloined letter, hidden in plain sight: 

To me, the interesting thing about Kagan's Harvard connection is not that it's shared by other Justices. What interests me is the fact that her Harvard connection is her claim to fame and, indeed, her main credential. In this respect, Kagan differs from the eight Justices with whom she would serve. For each of them, the law school connection was immaterial or incidental. No reporter in identifying these individuals for their readers at the time of the nomination would have mentioned Harvard or Yale except perhaps as an afterthought.


Kagan, by contrast, is routinely identified as the former dean of Harvard law school, and for good reason. She has no judging experience and little experience practicing law; nor did she make much of a mark as a legal scholar. Arguably, then, it is Harvard, if anything, that gives her the gravitas (or perhaps I should say cachet) one would expect of a Supreme Court nominee.


Kagan, then, can be viewed as an elitist nominee in the bad sense.

Well, I have an answer, and while it's not Harvard-specific, it does have the property of being credible. You see, there are only so many good ideas in Legal Studies today, and a glut of lawyers. There are just not enough ideas to go around, so lawyers, like good Liberals everywhere, are into recycling. It's not plagiarism, it's insuring that ideas are not carelessly discarded after a single outing. Allan Dershowitz should be praised, not condemned, for picking a good idea out of the trash, brushing it up and sporting it as his own. Just like going to the Goodwill store and giving that tweed jacket a second life.

A Conservative's Case For Sarah Palin's Genius

I hadn't seen Sarah Palin speak in person since the 2008 elections. If one just watched or read mainstream media accounts of her paid speeches and appearances since then, including some accounts that have been featured on this site, one may have come to the conclusion that Palin was just a money-hungry ex-politician devoid of conviction, half-heartedly speaking to various interest groups and causes to line her pockets and/or raise her national profile to peddle books that she didn't even write herself.

Curious about how such memes can develop among supposedly intelligent commentators (most of whom are on the left, but the right has its fair share too), I went to Palin's speech in Washington, D.C. on Friday, where she spoke at a breakfast hosted by The Susan B. Anthony List, an extremely influential pro-life organization.

Nowhere did I see a caricature of a bumbling dolt just going through the motions. What I did hear was substance. Warmth. Humor. Unapologetic feistiness. And an optimistic belief in conservative values and principles. And what I saw was the makings of a potentially transcendent and transformational figure not only for the conservative movement but for American politics.

He makes five points (read the article for more detail (it's worth your time):

•  Palin as the "Mama Bear" defending America's children from "generational theft."
•  She can testify.
• She attacks Obama.
• She relishes attacking liberals.
• And she's optimistic.

It may be hard to imagine right now, but Palin could be the reincarnation fo Ronald Reagan.

The Media vs. the People

Let’s face it people, the press has a long and glorious history of being partisan. In the “good old days” that partisanship was out in the open. I’m too young (mid 60s) to remember those days but I read history. In my lifetime that press has pretended to be unbiased, neutral and ‘fair.” That stance was only supportable as long as there was nothing to compare it to. When the three TV networks and every major newspaper took its lead from the NY Times, there was unanimity of opinion. And if you wondered if the perceived wisdom was right, or worse yet disagreed, you knew in your heart of hearts that you were part of what they called “the fringe.”

But gradually, over the last decades, alternative voices and opinions have reached a national audience. Rush Limbaugh has not just “talent on loan from God” to thank for his popularity and wealth. He can thank his lucky stars that he found millions of people who thought just like he did but were afraid to say so. People who believed, thanks to the media gatekeepers, that their belief in individualism, American exceptionalism, faith and adherence to classical values made them fringe kooks who should stifle their views lest they be ridiculed.

Technology, alternative media, the Internet all have combined to remove the blinders installed by the MFM. So the media is exposed as a bunch of partisan hacks, promoting their own agenda. And this agenda now appears to be opposing the majority of the American people.

Recent examples include the media’s adherence to the Obama star despite widespread disillusionment with this arrogant young socialist. And more recently the media’s excoriation of Arizona for attempting to get control of its borders and clamp down on crime caused by illegal aliens. With 70% of Arizonans and 65% of the rest of the country in support, the media is now exposed. They are the “fringe” they always accused us of.

Green: Obama is a victim of Bush's failed promises

Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first year in office.

Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever.

Wow. Talk about change.

Just one year ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation’s most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America’s first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions. To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.

Of course, they don’t see it as self imposed. It’s all George Bush’s fault.

George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in Congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama’s promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama’s promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama’s promise to end earmarks.

He broke Obama’s promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama’s promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

He broke Obama’s promise to make peace with direct, no pre-condition talks with America’s most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.

He broke Obama’s promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

He broke Obama’s promise to end no-compete contracts with the government.

He broke Obama’s promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke Obama’s promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

He broke Obama’s promise to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter of last year.

Yes, it’s all George Bush’s fault. President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending, failed Bush administration.

If only George Bush wasn’t still in charge, all of President Obama’s problems would be solved. His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel, North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.

Oh, and did I mention what it would be like if the Democrats, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn’t have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks. There would be no earmarks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying (Nebraska, Louisiana).

If only George Bush wasn’t still in charge, we’d have real change by now.

All the broken promises, all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform) is not President Obama’s fault or the fault of the Democrat-controlled Congress. It’s all George Bush’s fault.

Take for example the decision of Eric Holder, the president’s attorney general, to hold terrorists’ trials in New York City. Or his decision to try the Christmas Day underpants bomber as a civilian.

Two disastrous decisions.

Certainly those were bad judgments based on poor advice from George Bush.

Need more proof?

You might recall that when Scott Brown won last month’s election to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts, capturing “the Ted Kennedy seat,” President Obama said that Brown’s victory was the result of the same voter anger that propelled Obama into office in 2008. People were still angry about George Bush and the policies of the past 10 years, and they wanted change.

Yes, according to the president, the voter rebellion in Massachusetts last month was George Bush’s fault.

Therefore, in retaliation, they elected a Republican to the Ted Kennedy seat, ending a half-century of domination by Democrats.

It is all George Bush’s fault.

Will the failed administration of George Bush ever end, and the time for hope and change ever arrive?

Will President Obama ever accept responsibility for something — anything?
