While the focus has been on the damage the explosion and escaping oil has done, there has been almost no mention of the fact that this uncompleted well demonstrates the vast amount of oil that can be accessed.

An entire industry exists based on the theory of Peak Oil. it takes something out of the ordinary like this to point out that the earth is literally awash in the stuff. We can't contain it. Yet the technological Luddites are determined to convert the world to energy sources that are much less abundant, much less reliable, much more expensive and in many cases much more dangerous.
