What Happend in Basra, Volume 2

The Ayatollah Sistani has sent a message to the Mahdi Army: "the law is the only authority in the country". The question of whether Sistani would pull Sadr's chestnuts out of the fire in the same way he saved him in his earlier adventures has been answered: not this time.

There are still some parts of the MSM and the brain dead Left who claim that Sadr was the winner in the Basra conflict. We need go not father than today's Virginian Pilot which had an editorial cartoon showing the Iraqi army fleeing and Tom Teepens' op-ed announcing the supremacy of Sadr in Iraq.

Here's the cartoon by Pat Oliphant.

Forget about the racism exhibited in this cartoon. To be funny, a joke has to have some relation to the truth. Why the Left keeps trying to make the side that lost in the recent fight the winner, defies rationality. I have always thought of Bush Derangement Syndrome (BDS) as a metaphor. Now I'm beginning the believe it's a genuine mental disease.

Did I mention Tom Teepen?

Recent fighting shows the mission in Iraq is still not accomplished

Now there's a news flash.

Isn't this what General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker has been testifying to on Capital Hill? Why yes. they're saying it will take more time to make Iraq secure against a take over by Islamofascism (although they will not use that term). But according to Teepen it's Sadr, the guy who called for a truce and who is in the process of disbanding his militia who is the winner in the fighting.

Sadr, who wants the U.S. military out of Iraq, has emerged from the fray politically stronger and with enhanced military credibility. It was he who arranged the cease-fire and set its conditions.

Yes sir-re-bob, it's the guy who called off the fight, asked for a truce, laid down his arms and is disbanding who is the real winner according to the "reality based community." Too bad General Lee did not have Tom Teepen around at Appomattox or we would be whistling "Dixie" as our National Anthem.
