Rockefeller Smears McCain, Fighter Pilots

From the CBS website:
Rockefeller supports fellow Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president. He made the comments in an interview published Tuesday in The Charleston Gazette in his home state of West Virginia.

"McCain was a fighter pilot, who dropped laser-guided missiles from 35,000 feet. He was long gone when they hit. What happened when they (the missiles) get to the ground? He doesn't know. You have to care about the lives of people. McCain never gets into those issues," Rockefeller said.

I have long contended that you learn more about public figures by observing their friends and enemies than you do by listening to them. Public figures, by the time they become prominent are well schooled in the art of telling you what you want to hear. There are few who are as good at this as Obama. Thomas Sowell says it well:
Whenever I see one of Barack Obama's smooth performances, it reminds me of a saying from my old neighborhood in Harlem: "An eel is like sandpaper compared to you."

I don't know Obama personally, never met him, probably never will. So I am learning about him from his friends and enemies. Right now his friends include a racist anti-semite named Wright and a the ultra-wealthy heir of an oil fortune who, in effect, calls McCain - and all military pilots - cold blooded killers.

Meanwhile he asks for the resignation of a woman who called some disruptive kids playing in a tree "monkeys." That is also telling. Obama's "racial sensitivity" apparently equals that of his spiritual mentor: the Reverend Wright.

Thomas Sowell again:
Nothing is more fraudulent than calls for a "dialogue on race." Those who issue such calls are usually quick to cry "racism" at any frank criticism. They are almost invariably seeking a monologue on race, to which others are supposed to listen.

The same people who have gone ballistic when some prominent figure is found to belong to some all-male social club are full of excuses for why Barack Obama remained a member of a racist and anti-American church for 20 years.
