Goldman Indictment found ... in the back of the Virginian Pilot.

Is it any longer necessary to point out that the press, when it’s not malevolent, is incompetent? Yes it is; and it needs to be repeated until the last organ of the old media shuts down. The Tea party protesters – a representative cross section of the American public – are now as actively antagonistic to the MSM as they are opposed to a congress and President spending and taxing them into oblivion while transforming the country into a socialist society.

Check out the audience reaction to Andrew Breitbart's indictment of the media:

And if you think that’s a rant from the far right, take a look at the latest polls. It’s now a minority who believes otherwise.

A New York Times/CBS News poll found that a majority of Americans, 52 percent, think the policies of President Barack Obama are moving the United States toward socialism

But I digress. Today’s example of stupid editorial judgement comes to us via our local contribution to litter, the Virginian Pilot. Yesterday an indictment shook the financial foundations of the country. So what do the Pilot’s editors see fit to put on the front page? A photo of the ash plume of Iceland’s volcano with a story about British comedian John Cleese’s taxi ride from Norway to Belgium. The second story, below the fold is about a new navy ship (this is a navy town). The third is of an indictment … of five former employees of Blackwater. This is the same Blackwater whose employees risked and lost their lives protecting our embassy personnel in Iraq and various other dangerous locations.

So where was the news that shook the stock market and was responsible to a 130 point drop in the Dow? Where was the revelation that Wall Street superpower and major Obama contributor Goldman Sachs had a major hand in fraudulently distributing the toxic assets that nearly destroyed the world economic system in 2008? Glad you asked. It was page 13, right below these thrilling stories:

“Bank of America sees first quarter profit” and
“Construction permit numbers see bump” and
“Toyota recalls sienna minivans” and
“Firms getting bailout to see salary cap” and
GE hopeful despite lower earnings.”

Here's the difference between the Pilot and the Internet: I posted a brief essay on this yesterday including a link to the actual indictment. The Pilot's editors will still be wondering if this is a "story" for days.

The placement of that major story to the back of the “A” section is not a deliberate attempt to hide bad news; it’s just incompetence on the part of the low rent punks who make the editorial judgments of the paper.

Andrew Breitbart addressed a Tea party rally and got huge applause when he referred to the MSM as “bullshit artists” and “hate filled bastards.” I think that you can now get general agreement from a majority of the public on that.

Just as Samizdat had a major influence on bringing down the old Soviet Union allowing the people there to read the truth for the first time in their lives. The Internet and other alternative media have opened our eyes to a reality that has been hidden – edited out if you will – by the MSM. The media’s victory in 2008 was in many ways a Pyrrhic victory. The results were not what people expected and they are now far down the road in finding out how much they were lied to; how much they were defrauded like the investors who bought those toxic assets from Goldman Sachs. The indictment has come down, and Goldman is in the defendant’s seat. And the MSM, the Legacy Media, the State Run Media (whatever you want to call them) are fighting for their very lives. Like Goldman, they are saying “who, me?” Such egregious crimes cannot be covered up forever. The judgment of the American people will determine their fate. Justice is being served.
