This shows that as far as the Arab Spring is concerned, the old guard has proven more resilient than anyone could’ve predicted. Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi had to be unseated by the combined forces of the UN and NATO. Syria’s Bashar al-Assad is still fighting on, propped up by allies in Iran, Russia, and China.
