The gunmen came at night to drag Mohammed Halim away from his home, in front of his crying children and his wife begging for mercy.
The 46-year-old schoolteacher tried to reassure his family that he would return safely. But his life was over, he was part-disembowelled and then torn apart with his arms and legs tied to motorbikes, the remains put on display as a warning to others against defying Taliban orders to stop educating girls.
One reservist responded:
This is the perfect example of why I (a dad with two daughters, 12 and 8) am still in uniform as a reservist. I've been there once already (Iraq 04) and am gearing up to go again if necessary. And, don't tell me the Taliban are substantially different from the Baathists. They're both cowards and bullies toward their women.
So, where are the feminists while we're doing this fight? Same places they've always been - sitting somewhere safe yapping about stuff that doesn't matter while good men and women die to protect them.
God, but I'm getting tired of pulling the wagon these pukes ride on.
