Well I give DAVID WEIDNER credit, the "we" in question is the press.
Wall Street knew what some of his most intimate friends didn't: At times, Eliot Spitzer was a lying hypocrite.
The problem, of course, was that we -- the media, the public, investors and the legal system -- either didn't want to believe it or were bullied into ignoring the truth. Though many of us were aware of Spitzer's hardnosed tactics, it was easy to write them off as necessary for surviving in the ruthless world of finance and New York politics.
Now, those who did speak up -- mostly his targets -- deserve some reconsideration in light of the current state of affairs. If they say, "We told you so," who can blame them?
