Obama Energy Secretary Steven Chu Bizarre Comments: 'We're looking at a scenario where there's no more agriculture in California'

I was walking to lunch a few days ago in downtown Norfolk when a street corner preacher with a huge sign began bellowing that we must repent or be doomed. I believe that he has been recruited by the Obama administration for a high government position, nicely balancing tax cheats with global warming religious nut cases.

Elections have consequences and Liberals have been telling us that Obama is really a centrist. If Steven Chu is someone’s idea of a centrist, I’m Dolly Parton.

While the central states have had dozens of people killed and hundreds are out of power because of ice storms. While most of the US is going to freeze tonight, while much of England is paralyzed by snow and Dutchmen are skating on frozen canals for the first time in two decades, Steven Chu is sounding the global warming alarm by predicting an end to agriculture in California if we don’t mend our heathen ways. According to the LA Times:

California's farms and vineyards could vanish by the end of the century, and its major cities could be in jeopardy, if Americans do not act to slow the advance of global warming, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said Tuesday.

I’m assuming that Chu is not off his medication and his speech was vetted by the same people who checked out Tom Daschle to make sure he was squeaky clean. If so, he is a frightening look at the people we have fondling the levers of power in Washington for the next four years … if the country lasts that long.

I say "if the country lasts that long" because we have been assured by the same people who don’t want to waste a good crisis that the financial end is nigh and we face a catastophe if we don’t pass the stimulus bill, and that 500 million Americans are losing their jobs.

I have been wrong; this is not Chicago politics. Chicago works in its own bizarre way. This is Haight-Ashbury politics on crack.

I remember growing up it was all about that nuclear war was going to end the world; and then Rachel Carson came along and anyone born after 1945 was going to die before age 45 from DDT poisoning. Being young that gave me a few years, and I anxiously passed that milestone and amazingly am still clinging to life; although Africans are dropping like flies because of malaria that could easily be controlled by the prudent use of the evil DDT remains banned worldwide. We love the Africans so much we send them mosquito nets, we all know how effective they are.

Today its the global warming thing. The unfortunate part of this, I work with normally intelligent people who buy this stuff, hook, line, and sinker as they make war on coal fired power plants and threaten to fill our skies with windmills. In my town some people want to spend big bucks burying unsightly power lines while filling the skies with windmills. Fortunately the grant for the experimental street light that sported a solar panel as well as a windmill went to another deserving community.

Isn't one of the tenets of science "observation"? What are we seeing today? Snow and cold. We are experiencing one of the coldest years in a long time, and what is the reason? Why Global Warming of course, you dunce, don't you get it?
In a normal world people like Chu would be laughed off the stage, but today, they are the stage managers.
I am praying for a very bumpy ride and much confusion for our new President, so that there may be something left of America as we know it four years from now.

We need to utilize everything in out power to reduce our dependence on foreign oil including using our own natural resources.OPEC will continue to cut production until they achieve their desired 80-100. per barrel. The high cost of fuel this past year seriously damaged our economy and society. Oil is finite. We are using oil globally at the rate of 2X faster than new oil is being discovered. We need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail ourselves out of our dependence on foreign oil. Jeff Wilson has a really good new book out called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence Now. He explores our uses of oil besides gasoline, our depletion, out reserves and stores as well as viable options to replace oil.Oil is finite, it will run out in the not too distant future. WE need to take some of these billions in bail out bucks and bail America out of it's dependence on foreign oil. The historic high price of gas this past year did serious damage to our economy and society. WE should never allow others to have that much power over our economy again. I wish every member of congress would read this book too.
