With the exception of core Obama Administration loyalists, most politically engaged elites have reached the same conclusions: the White House is in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless about how to get along with or persuade members of Congress, the media, the business community or working-class voters.
But none of this is really Obama's fault:
- It's really George Bush's fault.
- The man who was hailed as the greatest orator since Cicero and has spent more time on the tube than Oprah Winfrey "failed to get his message out."
- He's attacking the wrong villains.
- He's too "brave and bold" for the unemployed.
Even when they try to distance themselves from this train wreck, their are fascinated by the view.
