Reminds me of the legend of Icarus. Becoming a latter-day Messiah is an unholy temptation.

The Obama Phenom is scary. I am amazed that in the most prosperous nation in the history of mankind, there are so many miserable people without hope and desirous of change they make a rock star out of the presidential candidate and don't ask any questions. The fact that they don't know what change, nor do they know how he is going to bring it about doesn't matter. Has academia been so successful in dumbing down the population that nobody cares about anything but star quality? As an aside, do you think if George W. Bush had a spiritual adviser that put an emphasis on whiteness, and gave an award to David Duke, do you think maybe the MSM would notice and make something of it? Hmmm?
I would not be so pessimistic. Look at other countries in which they make heroes of murderers and assassins. In a country this size there are any number of impressionable people. And if you listen to Obama you realize that what he says is so general that you can interpret his meaning in any way you wish. If you want to see “change” and listen to Obama it is easy for people who have a will to believe that he is talking to them and shares their objectives.
What is disturbing is that we have a major candidate of a major party who is willing to run this kind of campaign. We have not been a nation that has followed secular messiahs. That has always been for banana republics and for followers of fascism, communism or Nazism. Our political system has avoided these kinds of characters. Until now. That’s what’s disturbing.
