MSNBC host Martin Bashir:
"So you're saying that they are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?"
The Liberals are experiencing cognitive dissonance. Now that the American people understand we have a debt problem they try to say we must address it while simultaneously supporting those who fail to address it AND calling those who want to fix the problem “terrorists who hold a gun to our heads.” Exhibit “A” is the Virginian Pilot whose editorial page contains:
• An editorial that says: “The deal signed by the president Tuesday does little to improve the nation's financial prospects, dragged down by $14 trillion in national debt.” With the obligatory blame being cast on tax cuts.
• An Op-Ed by Eugene Robinson who calls it a bad deal because it cuts government spending.
• An Op-Ed by Michael Gerson who praises Harry Reid for his “skill as a legislative technician” for coming up with a bill that fails to solve the problem. His primary focus is how this legislative fight strengthens or weakens the Washington establishment, a trait he has in common with roughly 99.9% of the people in the media. It’s the “World Ends Tomorrow, Which Party Benefits?” question.
I realize that the Virginia Pilot can only work with the poor fare it’s fed by its own staff and the opinion columns it buys from its syndicates, but if could save a lot of money by expanding the comics section, firing its editorial staff and ending its subscription to the Washington Post Writers Syndicate.
