Brian Ross of ABC News erroneously identified the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater shooter as a member of the Tea Party Patriots. The man accused of firing an assortment of weapons into a packed theater, killed 12 and wounded 59. ABC misidentified James Holmes, the alleged shooter, age 24, as 52-year-old James Holmes of the Colorado Tea Party Patriots.
This, of course, should come as no surprise. Keen observers of the American political scene view The Tea Party as most responsible for the dramatic reversal of fortunes afflicting the Obama presidency and the Democratic Party since the midterm elections of 2010.
With the president’s political viability waning with each dismal economic report, is it any wonder that a desperate Obama-media would further impugn the growing small-government Tea Party movement?
Although ABC eventually posted a correction on its website, the lie is out and viral; I believe Ross’s Tea Party smear was intentional.
The Hitlerian big lies concerning the Tea Party will come fast and furious right up to November 6. This is just the start.
So, let’s make some assumptions about the shooter based on the facts as we know them: James Holmes was attending the University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus – studying neuroscience; He was described by those who knew him as a “super nice kid,” “kinda quiet” and “really smart”; and an ABC news update claims the alleged shooter “dyed his hair like The Joker … a well-known villain in the fictional batman universe.”
We have a very smart university student unable to separate reality from comic book fantasy … smart in the ways of brain science no less. Disseminating fantasies is what the modern university does so well. It does not teach students to think critically in pursuit of the truth. Instead, it teaches Progressive theology that sees as dangerous any challenge to its fragile orthodoxy. Unable to argue the wisdom of its quasi religion, Progressives demonize all challengers, declaring them heretics “outside the mainstream.”
“You see,” says The Joker in the Batman film “The Dark Knight,” “their morals, their code, it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They’re only as good as the world allows them to be. I’ll show you. When the chips are down, these… these civilized people, they’ll eat each other. See, I’m not a monster. I’m just ahead of the curve.”
That is a perfect distillation of the moral relativism disseminated by today’s university system and a jaded mainstream media.
If the mad act of James Holmes has a trigger, it emanates from the relativist moral swamp of our Progressive age.
Under the terms of moral relativism, Brian Ross’s Tea Party slur isn’t necessarily wrong. Ross apologists can simply claim he was “just ahead of the curve.”
