When there are not enough racists, the Media invents them

I know it may seem straight out of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but the supposed-racist-barrage-turned-innocent-fan-behavior this weekend in Colorado says a lot about the media.

I try to unpack why after some highlights from the unfounded outrage. ⤵️ 

For those unaware: over the weekend, a fan reportedly called an MLB player a racial slur. Not 24 hours later, the team concluded he was just calling out the name of the team’s mascot, Dinger.

But if you read the @nytimes, that the story was even in doubt likely escaped you.

But, as ever, it wasn’t just the Times. Not to be outdone, @CNN also got in on the act, making the same allegation.

Again, no hesitation, no couched language, no waiting for the story to play out with additional information. Just confident - and totally misplaced - assurance.

When The Narrative Replaces The News - How the media grotesquely distorted the Atlanta massacres

The media are busy stirring up a race war with white people as their victims.  

 

Trevor Noah insisted that the killer’s confession was self-evidently false: “You killed six Asian people. Specifically, you went there. Your murders speak louder than your words. What makes it even more painful is that we saw it coming. We see these things happening. People have been warning, people in the Asian communities have been tweeting, they’ve been saying, ‘Please help us. We’re getting punched in the street. We’re getting slurs written on our doors.’” Noah knew the killer’s motive more surely than the killer himself.

None of them mentioned that he killed two white people as well — a weird thing for a white supremacist to do — and injured a Latino. None pointed out that the connection between the spas was that the killer had visited them. None explained why, if he were associating Asian people with Covid19, he would nonetheless expose himself to the virus by having sex with them, or regard these spas as “safer” than other ways to have quick sex.

They didn’t because, in their worldview, they didn’t need to. What you see here is social justice ideology insisting, as Dean Baquet temporarily explained, that intent doesn’t matter. What matters is impact. The individual killer is in some ways irrelevant. His intentions are not material. He is merely a vehicle for the structural oppressive forces critical theorists believe in. And this “story” is what the media elites decided to concentrate on: the thing that, so far as we know, didn’t happen.

But notice how CRT operates. The only evidence it needs it already has. Check out the identity of the victim or victims, check out the identity of the culprit, and it’s all you need to know. If the victims are white, they don’t really count. Everything in America is driven by white supremacist hate of some sort or other. You can jam any fact, any phenomenon, into this rubric in order to explain it. 

The only complexity the CRT crowd will admit is multiple, “intersectional” forms of oppression: so this case is about misogyny and white supremacy. The one thing they cannot see are unique individual human beings, driven by a vast range of human emotions, committing crimes with distinctive psychological profiles, from a variety of motives, including prejudices, but far, far more complicated than that.

There’s a reason for this shift. Treating the individual as unique, granting him or her rights, defending the presumption of innocence, relying on provable, objective evidence: these core liberal principles are precisely what critical theory aims to deconstruct. And the elite media is in the vanguard of this war on liberalism.

This isn’t in any way to deny increasing bias against Asian-Americans. It’s real and it’s awful. Asians are targeted by elite leftists, who actively discriminate against them in higher education, and attempt to dismantle the merit-based schools where Asian-American students succeed — precisely and only because too many Asians are attending. And Asian-Americans are also often targeted by envious or opportunistic criminal non-whites in their neighborhoods. For Trump to give these forces a top-spin with the “China virus” made things even worse, of course. Picking and choosing which stories have more credence or significance over another is discriminatory and a sign sign of privilege, especially when the narratives that you support is one of which is in the driver’s seat of the mass media.

 The best data I’ve found for 2020, the salient period for this discussion, are provisional data on complaints and arrests for hate crimes against Asians in New York City, one of two cities which seem to have been most affected. They record 20 such arrests in 2020. Of those 20 offenders, 11 were African-American, two Black-Hispanic, two white, and five white Hispanics. 

My window blinds are racist

Racism experts say nooses, even when they’re purportedly tied to serve another purpose, are still racist symbols of intimidation to African-Americans who encounter them. They also don’t believe that the definition of whether a noose is a hate crime should rest on whether it’s directed at a particular target, because of its ramifications.

“It doesn’t have to be aimed at one specific black person to be effective—and I’m talking about the effectiveness as a symbol of terror,” said Jeannine Bell, a professor at Indiana University’s law school and an expert in hate crimes. “It can be anyone or all black people who might encounter it.”

I just looked at the window blinds and at the end of the pull cord is a noose.  My window blinds are racist according to Andrew Beaton and Louise Radnofsky, Staff writers for the Wall Street Journal.

In a transcript of the newspaper’s crisis town-hall meeting, executive editor Dean Baquet grapples with a restive staff and outside scrutiny.

Staffer: Hello, I have another question about racism. I’m wondering to what extent you think that the fact of racism and white supremacy being sort of the foundation of this country should play into our reporting. Just because it feels to me like it should be a starting point, you know? Like these conversations about what is racist, what isn’t racist. I just feel like racism is in everything. It should be considered in our science reporting, in our culture reporting, in our national reporting. And so, to me, it’s less about the individual instances of racism, and sort of how we’re thinking about racism and white supremacy as the foundation of all of the systems in the country. And I think particularly as we are launching a 1619 Project, I feel like that’s going to open us up to even more criticism from people who are like, “OK, well you’re saying this, and you’re producing this big project about this. But are you guys actually considering this in your daily reporting?”

Dean Baquet, the black editor of the failing NYTimes has made it his mission to tell the world that America was built by blacks while White Americans sat around drinking, raping and shooting innocent black babies when they were not lynching honor students on their way to grandma’s house.

Jay Nordlinger shows how to get invited to the best parties

Jay Nordlinger and the rest of the NeverTrumpers at National Review are best described as cuckservatives.  A cuckservative is someone who has been losing the culture war against the Left for generations while doing well for themselves by writing for “conservative” publications and selling cruises to gullible conservatives in “flyover country.”  

If they run for office they promise to repeal ObamaCare, cut taxes, roll back regulation and appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court.  When they get into office they explain that those rascally Democrats get in the way of accomplishing all these things so vote Republican even more!  And when Republicans get both houses of Congress and the Presidency they'll tell you that it still isn't enough.  

The classic hallmark of the cuckservative is the dogmatic repetition of nostrums – like free trade – while ignoring the devastation this has on the millions who lose their jobs as a result.   

Their arguments are always high-minded and principled even as the Left eviscerates them.  They would not dream of fighting back, giving as good as they got because "that would make us as bad as them."  

In the political arena, they have perfected the art of losing like Boy Scouts while the Left kicks sand in their faces and eats their lunch.  I refer you to loser John McCain (whose staff destroyed Sarah Palin, and who told supporters not to boo Obama) and loser Mitt Romney (who demanded Turm apologize to Antifa and had nothing to say when the Candy Crowley jumped into the debate ring on the side of Obama).  They are terrified of appearing to be politically incorrect, especially when they might be accused of that most sinister of crimes against humanity, racism. 

For years they have lived on the patrimony of William F. Buckley who, while a flashy verbal gladiator, appealed to that part of the political spectrum that never connected with the working class.  What can you say about a man who runs for mayor of New York City and – when asked what he would do if he won, replied: “ask for a recount.”  Clever, and memorable, but indicative of the fact that Bill - who I admired - was a show horse. 

And for decades they have revered Ronald Reagan as the ultimate Republican politician.  Successful, avuncular, beloved by everyone on the Right as he was hated by the Left.  In fact, Saint Reagan was everything that the NeverTrumpers told us Trump is not.

So what does Nordlinger do when it turns out that Reagan was less than complimentary about African nations in the United Nations that voted against the US in recognizing Communist China?  Here’s the transcript: “Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television as I did,” Reagan said. “Yeah,” Nixon interjected. Reagan forged ahead with his complaint: “To see those, those monkeys from those African countries—damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes!”

That’s when Nordlinger throws Reagan under the bus.

Undiplomatic, perhaps, but it was a private conversation between Presidents.  To this day most of those African nations are poverty-stricken hell-holes run be kleptocrats, many of whose people cannot afford shoes.  Some of those leaders have - in my lifetime - actually eaten their enemies.  

Many of us find your asininity sickening, Jay.  Bend over because here it comes again, Jay.  You’re the reason that Trump is President, Jay; because normal people are pretty damn sick of the way the Left is able to define the words we are allowed to use Jay.  

 I call people monkeys all the time without reference to race.  My grandkids are little monkeys; is that racist? 

Trump identifies the Squad, a quartet of female Socialist anti-Semites, as America-hating left-wing bozos and the Greek chorus of Trump haters tell us that it’s racist and we’re supposed to believe that?  

 He refers to Baltimore as “rat-infested” and that’s classified as racist.  Is it Jay?  Because believe me, large parts of Baltimore are third-world areas and some parts of the city are deadly. 

Golf - has been defined by the Left – as “racist.”   

White skin is irredeemably racist. Israel is racist.  Criticizing Japan and China is racist (just ask VOX).  The “N” word is racist – unless it’s uttered by a rapper, then it’s stripped of its racism. 

 Other things that are racist: hoop earrings, Star Treck is racist, Dr. Seuss is racist,  Justin Trudeau is racist, Dunkirk is racist, Dove soap is racist, The word “clan” is racist, wearing latex gloves is racist, and Taco Bell is racist. 

Put a little pressure on Jay and he'll tell you that whatever any Conservative said is "sickening" because racist.

I have a word of advice for Normal people, if you find yourself under attack and jump into a foxhole, make sure that Jay Nordlinger doesn’t join you.  If the enemy doesn’t kill you, Jay will do that job for them, gratis. 

And, Jay, note that the vulgar Donald Trump managed to gut ObamaCare, pass a huge tax cut, reduce regulation and appoint two great conservatives to the Supreme Court all in face of the combined opposition of the press, Democrats, and many so-called Republicans.  That only makes you hate him even more because it shows that your and your kind are losers. 

‘We’re All Tired of Being Called Racists’

A surprisingly fair article in The Atlantic.

Last night, Trump supporters in Cincinnati were eager to defend their man.

“It’s amazing that when Donald Trump makes a comment about Baltimore, it’s racist, it’s terrible, it’s this. But when the mayor of that town, when the congressman from that town, says the exact same thing, ‘Oh! No problem!’” Trump Jr. boomed, referring to a statement that Cummings made in 1999, calling Baltimore “drug-infested.”...

Before the rally began, I sat down on the floor of the arena with two women—Roseanna, 50, and Amy, 48—who felt similarly. (Neither woman was comfortable providing her last name for this story.) Roseanna, who wore a red T-shirt, white shorts, and a MAGA hat adorned with multiple buttons, including one featuring the likeness of Hillary Clinton behind bars, had driven an hour and a half from Lexington, Kentucky. She defended Trump’s statements about Baltimore. “He didn’t say nothing about the color of somebody’s skin,” Roseanna said, yet it seemed like everyone was “wishing him toward ‘He’s a bigot.’

“I’m sick to death of it. I have 13 grandchildren—13,” she continued. “Four of them are biracial, black and white; another two of them are black and white; and another two of them are Singapore and white. You think I’m a racist? I go and I give them kids kisses like nobody’s business.”

Larry Woodruffe, 24, was the shooter, and was riding with Eric Black Jr., 20, according to the police, when Woodruffe spotted the vehicle that Jazmine’s mother was driving and, apparently, mistook it for the vehicle of one of their drug-gang rivals. Woodruffe opened fire with a 9mm pistol and he and Black didn’t realize they had targeted an innocent family until they saw news reports the next day. So the “white killer” angle that made this story a subject of “nationwide attention” was false, and now the media that exploited the death of Jazmine Barnes to gin up a firestorm of racial fear will now drop the story entirely.

Now the story goes away.

How CNN lied to make Trump look like a racist. 

I present CNN's Ana Cabrera.

On Sunday night, Cabrera launched a premeditated, vicious, racist lie about President Trump, then proceeded to discuss the false story with a black guest, primed to analyze the fake news.

We'll slow down the replay in order to follow the ball, so you can see every handoff in the creation of fake news.

A few weeks ago, when Judge Brett Kavanaugh was facing 30-year-old, completely uncorroborated accusations of sexual assault based on recovered memories in order to block his Supreme Court appointment, Trump said, "It's a very scary time for young men in America when you can be guilty of something that you may not be guilty of."

This statement was quoted by numerous news outlets, including CNN: "Trump says it's 'a very scary time for young men in America,'" Jeremy Diamond, Oct. 2.

Cabrera rewrote the president's quote, telling CNN viewers that Trump had said: "WHITE men have a lot to fear right now."

How did "white" get slipped in there?

If this were merely a mistake, there are lots of words in the English language that might have been inserted instead of "white." Why not "radial tire"? Why not "hangnail"? Why not the words "virtuoso" or "champagne"?

Dictionaries are heavy with all of the words that might have been inserted if this were an accident. How could the word "white" inadvertently get slipped into a Trump quote?




CNN intentionally told an ugly lie about the most incendiary issue roiling the nation: race. It wasn't a lie about Trump's position on tax policy, North Korea or school vouchers. The network deliberately pushed a racism narrative calculated to incite racial hatred that could get someone killed.

Like a professional jewel thief swiping a Cartier watch so deftly that the guard doesn't notice, Cabrera launched the lie during a segment that began: "People are talking about a string of recent incidents with racial undertones."

"People are talking about" is how opinion journalism masquerades as news. What topics aren't "people talking about"?

People are talking about CNN head Jeff Zucker's split from his wife after 21 years.

People are talking about Chris Cuomo's behavior at the CNN Christmas party.

People are talking about how Ana Cabrera got her job.

Cabrera then presented two stories about white people falsely accusing black people of doing things they hadn't done -- which was ironic, inasmuch as Cabrera was about to falsely accuse Trump of doing something he hadn't done.

After a brief word from a black guest, professor Marc Lamont Hill, who said our world is "still shot through with white supremacy," Cabrera told the lie about Trump:

"President Trump and his son, Don Jr., said this week, white men have a lot to fear right now."

(His son said no such thing either.)

Cabrera then ran a clip of "Saturday Night Live" comedian Michael Che's "take" on the nonexistent quote, in which he injected race into the president's remarks, calling Trump a "white dude."

Che: "Come on. Old, rich white dude telling us it's a scary time in America? That is pure comedy."

(The absence of a punchline was covered with, "That is pure comedy," meaning, "Please laugh now!")

At this point in the program, the lie about Trump transformed into actual presidential policy. Cabrera asked Hill, "Why do you think that is Trump's strategy?"

Hill went off on the fictional Trump quote, talking about the president's "racial tribalism." Again, this was about a Trump statement that had absolutely nothing to do with race -- until CNN made it so.

"It stokes white fear," Hill continued, "saying that it's a scary time to be a white man because you get accused of something that you didn't do" -- as CNN was accusing Trump of something he didn't do.

Goebbels would be proud!

If this were an error, it would have been quickly corrected before the first commercial break. It was not corrected because it's not a mistake; it's a political strategy. CNN invents fake news to push an ugly narrative about the president's "racial tribalism."

That's why an entire news segment was prepared around the fake quote, with an invited guest asked to comment on something Trump never said.

Ignoring Democrats’ Farrakhan Ties Is The Epitome Of Media Bias

A congressman reaffirmed his ties to an avowed anti-Semite this week, but you wouldn’t know about it if you get your news from the establishment media.

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Peter Hasson broke the story of Democratic Rep. Danny Davis doubling down on claiming Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is an “outstanding human being.”...

In January, a photo emerged of then-Senator Barack Obama shaking hands with Farrakhan at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting in 2005. Little attention was paid to the photograph outside of conservative media.

In February, Hasson broke the news that Democratic National Committee deputy chairman Keith Ellison had met with Farrakhan multiple times since he supposedly disavowed the NOI leader in 2006. Ellison has faced very little scrutiny for these continuing ties to a Southern Poverty Law Center-designated hate group.

When 21 members of the Congressional Black Caucus were asked by Hasson to disavow Farrakhan, all declined. But that shouldn’t be too surprising when Ellison himself says his fellow Democrats aren’t bothered by his Farrakhan connection. 

Multiple leaders of Women’s March — one of the biggest left-wing organizations at the moment — have strong ties to Farrakhan and aren’t ashamed about it. “Thank God this man is still alive and doing well. He is definitely the GOAT [Greatest Of All Time],” Women’s March co-president Tamika Mallory once said of Farrakhan. She has refused to disavow the NOI leader and praised the group’s work as recently as Wednesday. (It would seem like all of these prominent Democrats and progressives having ties to a hate figure would be a huge news story. But the only establishment media figure to cover it is CNN’s Jake Tapper, who devoted a brief segment of his show to the story on Monday.
