Spitzer, Weiner, Schneiderman: a bunch of power-hungry perverts

Spitzer, Weiner, Schneiderman: a bunch of power-hungryƂ perverts

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

Blame hubris. Blame hormones. Blame the New York way — which attracts and rewards uncommonly arrogant, power-mongering overachievers who lack both boundaries and simple common sense.
  • Eliot Spitzer, as attorney general, stretched law and custom to terrorize Wall Street; he rode that overreach into Albany’s executive chamber — then hid bank transactions to pay a hooker, got caught and left public life in disgrace.
  • Anthony Weiner was a congressman, a job he meant only to pave the way to an inevitable arrival at Gracie Mansion. But he began exposing himself on the internet, sometimes to children, and today he’s in prison.
  • Eric Schneiderman, the now-former attorney general, transformed that office into a hyperactive, extra-official ideological enforcement agency, earning unbounded progressive applause along the way — even as he was beating women in private. Schneiderman denies the charges — leveled in The New Yorker — but they are credible, and he is now a private citizen for the first time since 2003.

Occam's Weiner

Mark Steyn on Weiner.

Weiner is an ambitious man with apparently insatiable sexual proclivities. Until 2013 he thought those two primal drives were reconcilable. The sex cost him his ambition - and is now threatening his liberty. He has very little standing between him and the abyss - other than what he knows about his wife and her patrons.

And that's the least worst interpretation. The other is that, given the world knew Huma Abedin's husband has a taste for girls a third of his age, someone sooner or later was going to apply a little pressure to him. Maybe even those Russians the Democrats have been bleating on about for weeks.

Most of the media and political class were content to regard Weiner as a laughingstock. One who wasn't was Donald Trump. July 27th 2016:

I don't like Huma going home at night and telling Anthony Weiner all kinds of secrets.

August 29th 2016:

Huma is making a very wise decision. I know Anthony Weiner well, and she will be far better off without him. I only worry for the country in that Hillary Clinton was careless and negligent in allowing Weiner to have such close proximity to highly classified information. Who knows what he learned and who he told? It's just another example of Hillary Clinton's bad judgment. It is possible that our country and its security have been greatly compromised by this.

All too characteristically of Hillary's court eunuchs, The Los Angeles Times sneered that Trump was "trolling" Clinton. Ask not for whom the Trump trolls, he trolls for thee...

Thoughts on the New York elections

From Akaky

Even if the well is still pretty dry, it's hard not to wonder about the outcome of the upcoming Democratic primary for mayor of New York. Will Weiner walk? What will Huma do? And what about Miss Leathers, who gets all hot and bothered listening to wonks debate health care policy? Actually, you really do have to feel sorry for Huma. Here she is, a proud warrioress of Islam, devoted to spreading the True Faith by any means necessary amongst the loathsome kaffirs who dwell in benighted darkness in the Dar al-Harb with their loose women and their thirty minute pizza delivery and their flush toilets, and she is stuck with this idiot Jew who can't stop showing off his tallywhacker to any woman who wants to take a look at it.

Why the Democrats should enjoy a get-out-of-scandal card because they don’t even pretend to have any standards of personal behavior is never made clear.

It seems that the press takes the position that if you don't publicly uphold moral standards you can be a moral cesspool without attracting too much scrutiny.  If hypocrisy is the most heinous crime, no politician would be walking free.

Bud Norman at Central Standard Times refers to Democrat Mayor Bob Filner of San Diego and Democrat Anthony Weiner of New York as examples of political figures who are getting exposure for lewd sex acts, but are somehow not part of the War on Women or a Democrat Party Culture of Corruption.

We mention these men’s party affiliation not because Republicans would never engage in such crude behavior, but rather because it is always so prominently mentioned in media reports when they do. Weiner’s unfortunate name and the high office he seeks have combined to force more media coverage that his deeds would ordinarily merit, but Spitzer’s whore-mongering past has gone largely unremarked, and there’s a suspicion that Filner’s misdeeds have been getting attention because San Diego is one of the last bastions of California Republicanism, but in none of these cases have the media been quite so gleefully outraged as they surely would be if it they were all in on a Grand Old Party. There’s certainly been no attempt to tie the scandals together into proof of some party-wide pathology, which would surely be the case if they were Republicans.

Several journalists of our acquaintance freely admit the double standard but contend that it is proper, explaining that Republicans deserve the extra scrutiny and scorn because their party presents itself as the defenders of old-fashioned “family values.” Why the Democrats should enjoy a get-out-of-scandal card because they don’t even pretend to have any standards of personal behavior is never made clear, but in any case the argument has long outlived any truth it might have. Republicans rarely push the “family values” slogan these days, being more concerned with keeping the country from insolvency and other economic concerns, while the Democrats consistently accuse their opponents of misogyny and tout themselves as the defenders of womanhood.

He also makes a point well that drives me up the wall. The Left and many Libertarians regularly accuse those of o=us on the right of wanting to push our morality on them. The reverse is actually the truth.

Such hypocrisy is more galling than that of the misbehaving Republicans. the most Bible-thumping politician who gets caught with his pants down isn’t trying to make religion compulsory, but the silly sensitivity-training workshops that the average private sector worker endures and the civil liability laws that inspired them have been imposed by the Democratic party with the force of government. These laws and the new rules of sexless behavior have done some good, and the officious way they are often enforced has done some harm, but certainly the political that is responsible should be held to the same rules.

The Huma Unmentionables

By Andrew McCarthy.

Just a few of Huma's issues. It may help you understand why Obama nixed the sale of F-16s to Egypt yesterday.
Sorry to interrupt the Best Enabler of a Sociopath Award ceremony but, to recap, Ms. Abedin worked for many years at a journal that promotes Islamic-supremacist ideology that was founded by a top al-Qaeda financier, Abdullah Omar Naseef. Naseef ran the Rabita Trust, a formally designated foreign terrorist organization under American law. Ms. Abedin and Naseef overlapped at the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs (JMMA) for at least seven years. Throughout that time (1996–2003), Ms. Abdein worked for Hillary Clinton in various capacities.

Ms. Abedin’s late father, Dr. Zyed Abedin, was recruited by Naseef to run the JMMA in Saudi Arabia. The journal was operated under the management of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, a virulently anti-Semitic and sharia-supremacist organization. When Dr. Abedin died, editorial control of the journal passed to his wife, Dr. Saleha Mahmood Abedin — Huma’s mother.

Saleha Abedin is closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and to supporters of violent jihad. Among other things, she directs an organization – the International Islamic Committee for Woman and Child. The IICWC, through its parent entity (the International Islamic Council for Dawa and Relief), is a component of the Union for Good (also known as the Union of Good), another formally designated terrorist organization. The Union for Good is led by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the notorious Muslim Brotherhood jurist who has issued fatwas calling for the killing of American military and support personnel in Iraq as well as suicide bombings in Israel. (As detailed here, the Obama White House recently hosted Qaradawi’s principal deputy, Sheikh Abdulla bin Bayyah, who also endorsed the fatwa calling for the killing of U.S. troops and personnel in Iraq.)

The Naked City

Mark Steyn on Anthony Weiner.
These “sexts” and “selfies” are from less than a year ago. I link to them not because of their literary or artistic quality but because the euphemistic gentility of the American media serves to protect Weiner. If you watch Wolf Blitzer talking about it with Gloria Borger and Dana Bash on CNN, you would never know that the likely next Mayor of New York is a man who photographs his penis and emails it to strangers.

If you don't object to graphic porn, go to Mark's article to learn what Weiner actually texted and sent.

NYC mayoral candidates get rise out of Weiner

Now that Anthony Weiner is finally back in campaign mode, the question is how he’ll respond to his opponents bringing up his minor indiscretions from a few years back. Will he go hard? Or fall back limp?

He uses the "how dare you" defense.

Magical Realism: The Fantasy World of Barack Obama, Anthony Weiner & Lesbian Bloggers

From PJTV:
Why are male bloggers pretending to be lesbians? Could it be that liberals are so desperate for a magically gay Middle Eastern reality that they buy into a complete lesbian fantasy? Author Jonah Goldberg of AEI sits with Glenn Reynolds to discuss Sarah Palin, facial hair, Anthony Weiner and the 'Gay Girl In Damascus' blog scandal.

Joe Scarborough given permission by leading Democrats to discusss Weiner. Tells Republicans to "Shut Up."

Tells RNC Chairman: ‘Shut Up’ With ‘Cheap Shots’ On Rep. Weiner.
If there are cheap shots to be taken the MSM looks to the Democrats for what's permitted and what's not. "This is for the Democratic party to deal with."

According to Press, the Foley scandal was relevant, the Weiner scandal is not.

Above the Law: Weiner's Pathfinder Has Different Plates, is Unregistered

Jammie Wearing Fool:
When Weiner (D-Queens, Brooklyn) was photographed by the Daily News fleeing the Capitol in his Nissan Pathfinder, it was clear the July 2007 registration sticker in his window was expired, ...

The New York license plate bolted on Weiner's Pathfinder - US Congress 9 - had expired as of 2006, according to the DMV

Meanwhile the MSM is focused like a laser beam on 24,000 Palin e-mails.

They belong to each other

The Left is Bitterly Clinging to Their Weiner.

From Jammie Wearing Fool:
Then we get to the heart of why the angry left is bitterly clinging to their Weiner.
Weiner has consistently spoken truth to power.
No one has given us so much pleasure in the last week than our Weiner.

The Women of Weinergate.

Weinergate: The women behind the sexting politician

I don't want to be governed by people like Anthony Weiner

What is wrong with people who believe that it’s OK to have a government filled with sexual perverts like Weiner and small time crooks like Barney Frank and Charlie Rangel?

I’m depressed by what I call the naive cynics. What I mean by that is people who think they are worldly and sophisticated and are just in fact patsies and rubes, the sort of people who say oh well everybody does it. This is just a purely private sexual matter—you uptight squares need to grow up about this stuff. No, actually. That’s not the way it works. Sexual corruption in a political culture is usually the tip of a much broader culture of corruption.

… This guy was in line to become the next mayor of New York up until last Sunday or whenever it was. Elliott Spitzer actually made it to Governor of New York. John Edwards was in line to become Vice President of the United States. Dominick Strauss-Kahn was in line to be President of France. There is something wrong with the political culture and big government in particular is very attractive to otherwise untalented people who get to afford themselves parts to which they would otherwise be unentitled.

… I mean—when Donald Trump is calling you sleazy and disgusting … that’s actually quite interesting to me! Donald Trump was a figure of fun in the 1980s because …he’d trade in one trophy wife for another trophy wife a generation younger, but Donald Trump did that on his own dime. … I think the trouble with big government is …when Anthony Weiner was boasting about the fact that he was a Congressman to this blackjack dealer in Vegas and this porn star in Vegas because in a sense he thought that insulated him from exposure. In other words, he was using his Congressional status to access chicks and I’m sorry I don’t want to be governed by people like this. …

There’s a huge problem in this country that there’s a sickness in the ruling class. Some people aren’t into the chicks. Charlie Rangel is into skimming off a little money from his rental property in the Dominican Republic and Bonnie Frank is into installing his boyfriend as head of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac or whatever it is, but sexual corruption is never where it stops. That is only the most lurid example of a broader corruption, and I do not want to be governed by Anthony Weiner. I demand better than that, even if the voters of his New York Congressional District don’t, I think the rest of us who have to live at the mercy of his votes deserve better than that.
The people Steyn calls the “naive cynics” are backing away from Weiner because he made them look like fools. He exposed them to ridicule and most of them are aware that there is a point where they can’t keep saying that middle-America needs to grow up and get with it.

The problem with our current government is that there are too many Weiners, too many Franks, too many Rangels. It doesn’t take a cynic to know that behind the scenes, there are a lot of others in government who have just not been caught yet.

The country is seeing what the result is of electing an inexperienced dolt to the Presidency just because Liberals thought that a black guy in the Oval Office would be cool. The country has experienced what Congressional sleaze really looks like in obnoxious jerks like Weiner, Frank and Rangel.

In a way, Weiner’s exposure was a good thing because it makes the next election about more than replacing an incompetent President. It’s an opportunity to clean the Augean Stables because they have not been mucked out for a while.

Anthony Weiner’s former girlfriend, Kirsten Powers is mad at him because he lied to HER.

I wrote about Kirsten Powers before.  After giving a number of print and broadcast interviews defending her former boyfriend she now demands that he resign because ... "He also lied to me."

"This has not been my previous position during the scandal"

former Weiner girlfriend says that sending dirty pictures to girls around the country is “Between him and his wife.”

“humans are flawed.” “Of course lying’s wrong but people lie about these things…. He’s trying to protect his wife.”

I'm not sure who I find more reprehensible, Weiner or his defenders.

More crazy from the Left: 'Anthony Weiner Deserves to be Supported and Hopefully He Will Be Mayor of New York'

When not obsessing about how stupid Sarah Palin is, the Left tells us how great Anthony Weiner is.
During an appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher," Janeane Garofalo said, "Anthony Weiner deserves to be supported and hopefully he will be mayor of New York one day

Time to cross "see a congressman's naked junk" off the bucket list.

Earlier today, a photograph resembling one that I had withheld from publication in the Weinergate saga was released without my knowledge or permission.

Prior to the publication of our story on BigGovernment.com and BigJournalism.com this past Monday morning, it was necessary to show the pictures I had received from our source to several news producers, including several at major news networks, to prove that the additional material I described really did exist, which some have continued to doubt.

This morning, I showed a photograph, which our source claims Weiner sent her, to radio hosts ‘Opie and Anthony’ of the Sirius XM radio network on my mobile device. Somehow, without my knowledge or permission, apparently a picture was taken of my mobile device, and subsequently published by Opie (Gregg Hughes) on Twitter.

His co-host, Anthony (Anthony Cumia), stated today:

‘In regards to the photo of Anthony Weiner that was leaked by members of The Opie And Anthony show on 6/8, I want to make it clear that Andrew Breitbart had no knowledge that this photo was being made public. A phone with the photo was being displayed and a camera in the studio caught it. It was then uploaded to twitter [sic], again, without Andrew Breitbarts [sic] knowledge.’

I regret that this occurred.”

The Weiner Dialogs

Transcript of messages between Anthony Weiner and Las Vegas Blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss:
H/T: Kausfiles.  (Weiner in bold)
