Mark Steyn asks: What sort of woman would be offended by the sight of another woman's penis?

You can't make this stuff up fast enough to get ahead of the crazies.

Three years ago I wrote:

I can't recall ever describing The Vagina Monologues as 'edgy'. But I did tell Joseph Brean that I was amused to see that its annual 'V Day' production at Mount Holyoke College has been canceled because of its 'extremely narrow perspective on what it means to be a woman'. Hence, this Guardian headline: 'Vagina Monologues playwright: "I never said a woman is someone with a vagina".' As I said to Mr Brean, the revolution devours its own: Less than 20 years after Eve Ensler 'empowered' women by 'reclaiming' their vaginas, it seems a woman doesn't need a vagina at all, and it's totally cisgenderist to suggest you're not a woman if you're hung like a horse.

As is my wont, I was playing it for laughs - but, as I always say, none of the people who matter in our society are laughing. Hence, the Bathroom Wars of the subsequent years, in which the position of what used to be known to Common Law as the Reasonable Man (now presumably the Reasonable Cisman) is apparently (as I put it on Rush): What sort of woman would be offended by the sight of another woman's penis?

So this latest development in Trump Resistance anniversary observances was entirely predictable:

Pink pussyhats are being dropped from Women's March because they 'exclude trans women and women whose private parts are not pink'

The pink is racist, and the pussy is transphobic. The Pussyhat Project has now issued a clarification of the rules:

The color pink was chosen "because pink is associated with femininity," the Pussyhat Project posted on its website. "We did not choose the color pink as a representation of some people's anatomy. Anyone who supports women's rights is welcome to wear a Pussyhat. It does not matter if you have a vulva or what color your vulva may be. If a participant wants to create a Pussyhat that reflects the color of her vulva, we support her choice."

If you're a normal man today and would rather not to date a creature who was once a man but now believes it's a woman  you're a hate filled bigot according to the masters of modern culture.   The inmates running the asylum was once a joke; not any more.

Gentle Reminder: Anyone Democrats Don’t Like is Unfit for Office

Do you remember almost 15 years ago the Democrats engaged in massive DERP! and claimed President George W. Bush was unfit for office?

I do. I remember the proglodytes’ seizures at the thought of BushChimpyMcHitlerHalliburton “lying” to the American people about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction and demands that he be “chimpeached.” I remember the vivid comparisons between President Bush and chimpanzees. I remember some lawyer named John Whitbeck publishing a screed in the Arab media, claiming Bush was either an idiot or a liar, and it didn’t matter which, because in either case Bush was unfit for office.

The attacks on President Bush were indecent and malicious throughout his two terms in office. The Democrats were on the warpath. In June 2008 Congressmen Dennis Kucinich and Robert Wexler, introduced 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush in the House of Representatives. The effort never went anywhere, other than the Judiciary Committee where the resolution was left to languish until Bush left office.

And now it’s starting again. With liberals, history seems to repeat itself every few years. Psychiatrists are mobilizing a (bowel) movement to help remove Trump from office, claiming he is mentally ill, and therefore unfit to lead the country. Never mind not one of them has actually examined the President; apparently watching him on TV is enough to make a medical diagnosis about his mental health.

This person is severely emotionally disturbed.

Saluting a Hat

Deforming the language has long been a cornerstone of leftist politics. If you can find a way to couch odious polices in pleasant sounding language, there’s some chance you can convince the public to slit its own throat. Similarly, they often mangle the language in order to prevent a reasoned debate. All around us we have euphemisms that blur the definitions for commonly understood things.

Take a look at this strange story from Britain. Here’s some of the text as published:

This morning, I stood in front of hundreds of Brighton College pupils in assembly and spoke about the experience of being a trans woman. In the past few days, they’ve found their school suddenly the focus of press interest, after headteacher Richard Cairns scrapped traditional male and female uniforms to accommodate the needs of transgender children.

He made the decision to offer all pupils the option of trousers or a skirt, so that children with gender dysphoria can dress as the gender they feel they really are, rather than the one they were born into. Mr Cairns explained to me that his decision had been prompted by a female pupil, whose family had asked the school if she could dress as she did beyond the school gates – as a boy.

Now, here’s the same paragraphs in normal English:

Mr Cairns explained to me that his decision had been prompted by a female pupil, whose family had asked the school if they could use their child as a prop in their morality play.

When we say things as they are, it’s hard to not laugh at most of this stuff. The rest is so creepy and weird no sensible person would tolerate it. If an adult man wants to wear a sundress, that’s his choice. It is a harmless deviancy that society can tolerate to a point. Teaching children that sex is a human construct is no different than telling them [they] are bullet proof. Letting parents turn their kids into acts of public piety is monstrous and not something a sane people should tolerate.

When you lose control of the language, you quickly go from pleas for tolerance of a public nuisance to intolerance of observable reality. There is no such thing as gender dysphoria. Humans come in one of two sexes, This is ground floor biology. Substituting the word “gender” for “sex” brings with it the implication that the sex of humans is open to debate in the same way the rules of grammar are debatable.

It is possible that some people think they are of the other sex, just as there are people who think they are invisible. I once knew a woman who thought she was the Virgin Mary. These sorts of mental health problems are sad. These people should be pitied and given what medical care we can. Their maladies should not be forced onto the rest of us.

Of course, the reason our betters insist we pretend that a dude in a sundress is a person of a third sex is they know it is nonsense. It is humiliating to be made to go along with such nonsense. Having to sit and listen to this horse’s ass deliver a speech in drag is about as degrading as being made to hop around on one foot while sucking your thumb. That’s the whole point of this. If you force people to accept this, you can get away with anything.

Trannies are the modern incarnation of Albrecht Gessler’s hat. Instead of bowing to a hat in front of the town, we now have to sit and applaud as a man in drag spits gibberish. In the bizarre formulation of our rulers, normal people are labeled deviant if they don’t pretend the deviant is normal.

This will not end well.

“Paranoid Personality Disorder”

The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, specifically, the “Paranoid Personality Disorder” section.

From the DSM:

The essential feature of this disorder is a pervasive and unwarranted tendency .  .  . to interpret the actions of people as deliberately demeaning or threatening. Almost invariably, there is a general expectation of being exploited or harmed by others in some way. .  .  . The person may read hidden demeaning or threatening meanings into benign remarks or events. .  .  . Often these people are easily slighted and quick to react with anger or counterattack; they may bear grudges for a long time, and never forgive slights, insults or injuries. .  .  . They tend to avoid blame even when it is warranted. .  .  . They intensely and narrowly search for confirmation of their expectations, with no appreciation of the total context. Their final conclusion is usually precisely what they expected in the first place.

Just so you know.

The Intersection of Feminism and Academia Yields Insanity

This isn't a library, it's a police station with books.

In an article entitled Man Faces Assault Charges For Chair Attack At San Francisco Main Library, we find out where the SF homeless go when they're off the street.

The main branch, located at 100 Larkin Street, is just across from Civic Center Plaza, City Hall and isn’t too far from the Tenderloin District.

“This is, you know, a very urban neighborhood, certainly. But the library is a very democratic institution,” said library spokeswoman Michelle Jeffers. “Possibly the greatest democratic institution and we are open to everyone.”

According to Jeffers, there were 3,400 incidents at the library last fiscal year. While the number sounds high, Jeffers said an incident could range from being anything from someone sleeping in a chair to an assault, which according to her is very rare. The year before, there were more than 4,500 such incidents.

In this instance, a 25 year-old man hit another man over the head with a chair.

The homeless and the mentally ill congregate at the main library, which can be intimidating to some. But a patron visiting from Chicago told KCBS that it feels safer at the San Francisco library than the one where he is from.

That's not an endorsement of San Francisco but a well-deserved put-down of Chicago.

A San Francisco police sergeant will aid 16 security officers at the main branch starting on Monday. Officials said the assignment was made before Wednesday’s attack.

Does your library need 16 security officers plus a police sergeant? Aren't you glad you don't need to go to the San Francisco library?  This isn't a library, it's a police station with books.

Despite the unusual attack, officials maintained the library is still a safe place and that it attracts all kinds of people.

"It attracts all kind of people." Yes it does.

The "Gaslight" President

 

Acting the lead role in the “most transparent administration” in history is a challenge, especially when your administration is spying on every phone call made and every byte that’s put on the Internet. But he’s pulled it off for a big part of the audience. How else can you get awarded the Nobel Peace Prize while “droning” your enemies, surging into Afghanistan and attacking Libya? How else can you keep Guantanamo open while giving speech after speech denouncing its existence? How else can you get rave reviews for your ethics while turning the IRS loose on your political opponents, claim to be outraged, and tell the world that the first time you heard about it was when you read it in the papers?

 

That, my friend, is a tour de force worthy of an Emmy.

 

The mind tricks that Obama plays on Americans are way beyond what Charles Boyer’s character plays on Ingrid Bergman in “Gaslight.” There is an eerie similarity between the 1944 movie and 2013 America. In the movie, Boyer wants everyone to think Bergman’s crazy. In America, Obama’s opponents are labeled crazy, or racist, or both. Remember how we were told that bloggers were people sitting in their basement wearing pajamas? Thanks to Obama’s adoring fans in the press an entire Internet communications company was named PJ Media after this famous slur. Sarah Palin was “Gaslighted” to the point where she’s labeled not only crazy but stupid.

 

Like every actor, Obama could not have achieved his stardom without an effective PR machine. In this case the MSM volunteered to do the job for free. Even after a full four year term in office, none of the economic, political, foreign policy or moral failures that America has experienced during his administration have been attributed to him. His PR machine blames his predecessor, his underlings or Mother Nature; never him.

 

Keep in mind, at heart he’s just a photogenic Chicago politician. And that’s the tragedy. Chicago, one of America’s great cities, has been systematically looted by its Democrat machine, much like the killer in Gaslight plots to loot his victim’s home.

  

We know how Gaslight ends. We are in our own sequel and we don’t know the ending. There is no guarantee that the good guys will win; they haven't so far. Perhaps this time, Boyer wins. There’s a lot of loot in America’s attic.

High School Student Disarms Gunman…Gets Suspended?

A Florida high school student wrestled a loaded gun away from another teen on the bus ride home this week and was slapped with a suspension in return....

The school’s referral slip said he was given an “emergency suspension” for being involved in an “incident” with a weapon. Lee County School District spokesman Alberto Rodriguez said in a statement that “If there is a potentially dangerous situation, Florida law allows the principal to suspend a student immediately pending a hearing.”

I have a suggestion: have a Zero Tolerance Policy for Zero Tolerance Policies. Any school that has a zero tolerance policy must immediately fire the superintendent of schools and anyone who enforces such idiotic conduct.

The more liberal our society becomes, the more its problems caused by liberalism are blamed on society’s remaining conservatism.

One of the main topics on which you’ve been posting lately is near and dear to me professionally, as I am a resident in the field of psychiatry. Suffice it to say that I’m one of the few people I encounter in my professional life who really think the old system of state hospitals, with their vastly greater number of long-term-committed patients than what we see today, was a good idea. It should come as no surprise that liberals blame deinstitutionalization, not on the liberal belief in equal freedom and individual autonomy as the highest principles, but on those mean old money-grubbing conservatives and their budget-cutting, social-services-slashing ways. It’s a perfect illustration of one of the variations of Auster’s First Law you’ve no doubt stated somewhere: the more liberal our society becomes, the more its problems caused by liberalism are blamed on society’s remaining conservatism.
