That is not some hypothetical, of course -- that just happened. An attacker stabbed a pregnant woman in her home, and left her for dead -- but not before cutting her baby out of her.

The baby died, the woman did not -- but this grisly murderer can't be charged with murder, because prosecutors claim the law doesn't permit murder charges involving a fetus. (Though I smell a strong whiff of "I don't want to" in this claim of "I can't.")

So some Colorado legislatures want to write the law so that it explicitly covers this situation.

But abortion extremists -- the real abortion extremists -- insist that cutting a pregnant woman's baby out of her and killing it, even against her wishes, should not be a crime in and of itself. You could charge this guy with assault for cutting the woman -- but the deliberate cutting out of her unborn child would support no further charges, because it's simply not a life. It's not even property that could be vandalized.

Not even that.

It's a slippery slope,see. If slitting a woman's belly open and removing her baby and killing it could lead some people to think that an abortionist doing it could be committing murder.

This law, by the way, explicitly exempts voluntary abortions. So it can't be claimed this is back-dooring a ban. Nope, abortions are outside the scope of this bill.

Ace notes that reporters are not interested in asking the tough questions about this case because reporters are, by and large, in favor of abortion and certainly are not about to raise questions about an abortion caused by a deranged woman who lured a pregnant woman to her home to steal her baby .. before it was born.

“They seemed crazy, they were out of control. They just grabbed the boy and threw him in the water because he was praying. We tried to stop them but they killed many,”

As a matter of fact, the infamous atheist group, the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF), has set its sights on several college basketball teams with chaplains. From a certain point of view the least disruptive thing the Republicans can do is let her win. Before the end Democratic pundits may make the argument that the patriotic thing to do is “give way to Hillary” to avoid “dividing the nation”. FBI Holds “Special” Meeting in Juárez to Address ISIS, DHS Not Invited

The FBI is trying to find out who's leaking info about the ISIS camp in Mexico near the Texas border to Judicial Watch.

A high-level intelligence source, who must remain anonymous for safety reasons, confirmed that the meeting was convened specifically to address a press strategy to deny Judicial Watch’s accurate reporting and identify who is providing information to JW. FBI supervisory personnel met with Mexican Army officers and Mexican Federal Police officials, according to JW’s intelligence source. The FBI liaison officers regularly assigned to Mexico were not present at the meeting and conspicuously absent were representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It’s not clear why DHS did not participate.

Publicly, U.S. and Mexico have denied that Islamic terrorists are operating in the southern border region, but the rapid deployment of FBI brass in the aftermath of JW’s report seems to indicate otherwise.

What It Would Take to Prove Global Warming

A great article in The Federalist.  Read the whole thing but here are the bullet points:

1. A clear understanding of the temperature record. Not just the last 50 years but the last 10,000 years.
2. A full understanding of the underlying physical mechanisms. Because climate is complex and the computer models are not making the right predictions.
3. The ability to make forecasting models with a track record of accurate predictions over the very long term. The climate models are failing to predict what's actually going on.

It’s pretty clear that scientists aren’t any good yet at making global climate forecasts. Current temperatures are at or below the low range of all of the climate models. Nobody predicted the recent 17-year-long temperature plateau. And while they can come up with ad hoc explanations after the fact for why the data don’t match their models, the whole point of a forecast is to be able to get the right answer before the data comes in.

Muslims threw Christians overboard during Med voyage

ROME (AP) — Italy's migration crisis took on a deadly new twist Thursday as police in Sicily reported that Muslim migrants had thrown 12 Christians overboard during a recent crossing from Libya, and an aid group said another 41 were feared drowned in a separate incident.

Palermo police said they had detained 15 people suspected in the high seas assault, which they learned of while interviewing tearful survivors from Nigeria and Ghana who had arrived in Palermo Wednesday morning after being rescued at sea by the ship Ellensborg.

The 15 were accused of multiple homicide aggravated by religious hatred, police said in a statement.

The survivors said they had boarded a rubber boat April 14 on the Libyan coast with 105 passengers aboard, part of the wave of migrants taking advantage of calm seas and warm weather to make the risky crossing from Libya, where most smuggling operations originate.

During the crossing, the migrants from Nigeria and Ghana — believed to be Christians — were threatened with being abandoned at sea by some 15 other passengers from the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Guinea Bissau.

Eventually the threat was carried out and 12 were pushed overboard. The statement said the motive was that the victims "professed the Christian faith while the aggressors were Muslim."

I could have sworn that Garry Trudeau just explained that Muslims were an oppressed minority.

Someone Vandalized a Church, Causing $10,000 In Damages, By Painting It With Pro-Gay Messages

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a church was vandalized sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Bales Memorial Wesleyan Church in Jamestown was spray painted, had flowers torn up, parking signs were ripped up and windows were broken.

The church sign was also broken and letters removed and the front entrance to the church was egged and sprayed with silly string.

One spray-painted message on the church door reads, "God loves (expletive)!!! He hates you!" Another said "Gay’s ok!"

The church bus was also damaged by the suspects keying the hood and pushing a sign through the front grill.

I won't read about this in my local paper because:

This will not get any attention because the media approves of vandalism directed against Christians.

Hillary Invents Immigrant Grandparents

“All my grandparents, you know, came over here and you know my grandfather went to work in lace mill in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and worked there until he retired at 65. He started there when he was a teenager and just kept going,” Clinton said.

Speaking in Iowa Wednesday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that all her grandparents had immigrated to the United States, a story that conflicts with public census and other records related to her maternal and paternal grandparents.

The story of her grandmother specifically immigrating is one Clinton has told before. Clinton’s sole foreign-born grandparent, Hugh Rodham Sr., immigrated as a child.

Question: why is it necessary to lie about this? What's the benefit? Are immigrants that important to Hillary's election?

Just to set the record straight on Chipotle

It appears that "someone" - presumably on the Clinton campaign - tipped the NY Times off that she had lunch at Chipotle.

Nor did the restaurant’s staff notice Mrs. Clinton, until this reporter, tipped off that she had dined there, telephoned.

Well\, it would not have done much good if this particular scene in "Hillary the Movie"  wasn't covered by the press.

The spectacle evokes the image of Bill and Hillary Clinton at leisure in one of their mansions, much like King Arthur and Guinevere in “Camelot,” wondering “What Do the Simple Folk Do?” and coming up with the most wildly inaccurate conjectures.

Just this week has seen Clinton scooting across Grant Wood’s Iowa in a vehicle that has been dubbed the “Scooby Doo van,” making her putatively routine visit to a Chipotle franchise, chatting amiably with plain old midwestern folks at some Frank Capra-esque watering hole, wandering the halls of some distinctly non-Ivy League campus, and grousing about the indue influence of rich people’s money on America’s once-pristine politics. All of it was so obviously contrived that even the press noticed, and actual regular down-home Americans were far less likely to be fooled by any of it. ....

The “Scooby Doo” characters didn’t have two accompanying black vans full of Secret Service agents, either, nor did any state Highway Patrols clear traffic for their madcap capers ....

But that's how the movie's made. You're just not supposed to notice the crew and the supporting cast, just watch the flickering images on the screen.

Campaign staff DROVE 'ordinary' Iowans to Hillary's first campaign stop - including health care 'lobbyist in training' who was an Obama campaign intern and Biden chauffeur

Hillary Clinton's astroturf candidacy is in full swing in Iowa.

Her Tuesday morning visit to a coffee shop in LeClaire, Iowa was staged from beginning to end, according to Austin Bird, one of the men pictured sitting at the table with Mrs. Clinton.

Bird told Daily Mail Online that campaign staffer Troy Price called and asked him and two other young people to meet him Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Davenport, a nearby city.

Price then drove them to the coffee house to meet Clinton after vetting them for about a half-hour.

The three got the lion's share of Mrs. Clinton's time and participated in what breathless news reports described as a 'roundtable'– the first of many in her brief Iowa campaign swing.

Bird himself is a frequent participant in Iowa Democratic Party events. He interned with President Obama's 2012 presidential re-election campaign, and was tapped to chauffeur Vice President Joe Biden in October 2014 when he visited Davenport.

'What happened is, we were just asked to be there by Troy,' Bird said Wednesday in a phone interview.

Watching the Hillary movie.

Ann Althouse, a law professor at UW Madison and prolific blogger, wrote about Hillary’s stop at a Chipotle’s restaurant, where no one recognized her.

Her take on this event is that Hillary simply did not want to be recognized; leave her alone.

Ann’s mistake is that her “take” is like watching the rushes of a movie in the making; the focus is what’s on the screen. What’s really going on is that Hillary’s making a movie. Let’s pull back from the camera and look at the movie set.

A movie set consist of (among others) cameramen, lighting specialists, groups of extras, props, the director, script writers, wranglers and the actors. It’s a village. And that’s what a presidential campaign is. When we look at the pictures of the candidate we’re looking at the actor in front of the camera. And the actor isn’t playing to the crew around him but to the audience watching the movie.

Hillary’s getting kidded for being ignored by the people in the restaurant. People are asking why it took her 45 minutes to eat and why she wasn't glad-handing the servers and patrons.

Think about this for a minute. Clinton and her staffers drive cross country and stop to eat and NONE of them make an effort to interact with the locals? That is damn weird - as if they felt uncomfortable amongst the locals.

And if that is the case, why did they even do the cross country drive if they are going to avoid people?

But that’s not the reason for the stop. The reason for the stop is to get media coverage for stopping to eat at a popular middle-class restaurant. It says to the people watching the news: “she’s just like us.” The restaurant is the set.  Her van is a prop.  The patrons are extras.  Her campaign manager is the director.  Hillary's the star.  The crew making the movie include the press. They are the cameramen, the assistant script writers, and the publicity department.

Even the story that no-one recognized her works for the Hillary movie. Because there is only so much time in the day and the focus on Hillary means that her opponents get ignored while the cameras are focused on Hillary.

The next set after Chipotle was the auto shop of a junior college where The Star delivered her lines to the extras chosen from the students.  

Watching the daily rushes misses the point of what's really going on.  We are watching a movie being made:  "Hillary Saves the World."

Parents of "Free-Range" Kids to File Lawsuit, Attorney Says

When I was growing up we went outside to play and did not come home until dark.

The parents of two Maryland children who were taken into police custody after playing alone at a park will file a lawsuit, a lawyer for the family said Tuesday.

It's not clear who will be named in the suit, but the attorney confirmed to News4's Kristin Wright that a lawsuit will be filed "soon."

Matthew Dowd, an attorney with the Wiley Rein law firm, said in a release Tuesday that 10-year-old Rafi Meitiv and his 6-year-old sister, Dvora, were held in a police car for almost three hours, went more than six hours without being fed, and weren't returned to their parents until nearly midnight.

The suit stems from an incident Sunday, the second time police got involved with Danielle and Alexander Meitiv and their kids.

In the latest incident, a man called 911 to report two unaccompanied children at Ellsworth Park in Silver Spring around 5 p.m. Sunday. The man said he was walking his dog when the children asked to pet it. He said their clothes were dirty and they were walking around alone for about 20 minutes.

The parents have said they are part of the free-range kids movement, which aims to foster growing independence in children.

"The Meitivs are rightfully outraged by the irresponsible actions of Maryland CPS and Montgomery County Police," Dowd said in a statement in part. "We must ask ourselves how we reached the point where a parent's biggest fear is that government officials will literally seize our children off the streets as they walk in our neighborhoods."

The statement continued, "The Meitivs intend to fully vindicate their rights as parents and their children’s rights, and to prevent this from happening to their children again."

I think we'll be seeing more of this.

Boehner: Obama Made a Deal With the Devil

President Barack Obama made a “deal with the devil” in his nuclear framework with Iran and there’s no reason to think it can verifiably prevent the Tehran regime from getting a nuclear weapon, House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday.

Returning from a long trip to the Middle East that included stops in Iraq, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, Boehner spoke to a small group of reporters about the war against the Islamic State and the general situation in the region as well as the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran. He said there was great skepticism among Iran's neighbors about the emerging agreement between it and the P5+1 world powers, and he shared those concerns.

“I don’t know how you cut a deal with the devil and think the devil is going to keep his end of the deal,” Boehner said of Obama and his advisers. “All they’ve done this far is talk about a delay of their development of a nuclear weapons for a few months or a year, in exchange for the rehabilitation of their entire economy? I think they are desperate for a deal at any cost and I think this is a prescription for disaster.”
