What is a woman?

I found it horrifying how pomo relativism around the concept of truth and reality has infected the general population as evidenced by the man on the street interviews where people constantly devolved to truthiness when asked what a woman is. It is the priestly class however that take biological denialism to an entirely different level. An interesting philosophical concept was advanced by Carl Truman that gender ideology is the end result of making personal happiness the main pursuit of life, a goal reinforced by Hollywood, social media and culture. Academia, however, is the taproot of the weed, the intellectual cover, for what is rather regressive thinking.

Movie Critics Complain Eastwood Doesn't Show Sympathetic Terrorist

TruthRevolt friend Christian Toto over at HollywoodInToto.com has helpfully rounded up a sample of movie reviews of openly conservative director Clint Eastwood's new terrorism drama The 15:17 to Paris. The film is based on the true-life Islamist attack on a Paris-bound train in 2015 that was quickly thwarted by three American heroes who happened to be passengers on that train.
And:

"A few critics hated how Eastwood didn’t give enough screen time to the terrorist in question, Ayoub El-Khazzani," wrote Toto, such as this reviewer from The National Post:
15:17 to Paris overly simplifies the attack and its aftermath. The terrorist (Ray Corasani) snarls and wears sneakers, but there’s little more to him.
The movie's not about him. The movie is about the three American heroes. And to the outrage of leftist reviewers, Eastwood apparently wasn't inclined to depict a sympathetic terrorist. This is a Clint Eastwood movie, not a Rolling Stone magazine cover.

Mark Steyn on The Darkest Hour

Churchill is an abidingly popular role with big-time actors once the receding hairline and expanding girth of middle-age set in. Sometimes the player is too evidently suited to the part - one thinks of Robert Hardy on telly in the Eighties - and the jowly gravitas gets clanked around as if Winnie wandered Chartwell and Westminster in never-was-so-much-owed mode 24/7. On the literal face of it, the man who brought both Sid Vicious and Commissioner Gordon to the silver screen is one of the least obvious cinematic Winstons ever, and he wears his lavish prosthetics with a very light touch. Gary Oldman's is stylistically both a nimbler and more shambolic Churchill - boozy and blustery and blubbery, immensely secure and oddly disconnected. It is a dazzling performance of the indispensable man of the century, intelligent and insightful, yet one that caused me, by the end, a grave unease.

Campaign staff DROVE 'ordinary' Iowans to Hillary's first campaign stop - including health care 'lobbyist in training' who was an Obama campaign intern and Biden chauffeur

Another scene from the Hillary Movie.

Hillary Clinton's astroturf candidacy is in full swing in Iowa.

Her Tuesday morning visit to a coffee shop in LeClaire, Iowa was staged from beginning to end, according to Austin Bird, one of the men pictured sitting at the table with Mrs. Clinton.

Bird told Daily Mail Online that campaign staffer Troy Price called and asked him and two other young people to meet him Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Davenport, a nearby city.

Price then drove them to the coffee house to meet Clinton after vetting them for about a half-hour.

The three got the lion's share of Mrs. Clinton's time and participated in what breathless news reports described as a 'roundtable'– the first of many in her brief Iowa campaign swing.

Bird himself is a frequent participant in Iowa Democratic Party events. He interned with President Obama's 2012 presidential re-election campaign, and was tapped to chauffeur Vice President Joe Biden in October 2014 when he visited Davenport.
'What happened is, we were just asked to be there by Troy,' Bird said Wednesday in a phone interview.

'Butler' Director Launches Racial Smear Against 'White Folks'

Like in Post Racial Obamaland.  I think it's part of the publicity campaign ... or a pre-emptive excuse for a flop.

Unforgivable: Only God Forgives Is One of the Worst Movies Ever Made

I don't go to movies so I never read movie reviews, but this one is worth the price of admission.

Gruesomely grotesque and pathologically pretentious, a diabolical horror called Only God Forgives may not be the worst movie ever made, but it is unquestionably in the top five. It reunites the usually reliable Ryan Gosling with the Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, whose work I admired (prematurely, it seems) two years ago in the moody, shocking and perversely fascinating Drive. There is nothing remotely compelling about this one. I should have suspected as much. Premiering in May at the Cannes Film Festival, Only God Forgives was viciously barbecued by the critics after the film was booed so loudly that Ryan Gosling didn’t even show up for the red carpet. Now I know why.

Ultra-violent, demented, plotless, creepy, meat-headed and boring, this is nothing more than a depraved travesty of abstract expression that wastes the film it’s printed on. Get to the point, you say. What is it about? Absolutely nothing, really. Ryan Gosling, looking dangerously anaesthetized, is an American thug who runs a brutal boxing club that doubles as a drug den in the slums of Bangkok. When his sub-mental brother rapes and slaughters a teenage whore, her father slices his head off. Enter a catatonic cop, who proceeds to Cuisinart everyone in sight, and Gosling’s mother Crystal, the despicable, drunken, pill-popping bottle-blonde nymphomaniac head of a family drug empire who travels 10,000 miles to lick her pomegranate-red lips over the corpse of the rapist son, with whom she has obviously been having an incestuous affair for years. This hag is played by none other than Kristin Scott Thomas, who may think she’s slumming, but instead trashes a big chunk of her otherwise respectable career. After she unfavorably compares the size of Gosling’s penis with her dead prodigal son’s johnson, Gosling tells her, “He raped and killed a 16-year-old girl!” The mother retorts, “I’m sure he had his reasons.” The audience howls derisively. That’s about as talky as this disaster ever gets. The script contains such a bare minimum of words that it resembles a cadaver ripped clean of flesh by carrion birds. The action is pretty much left up to the benign Thai cop, who throws boiling oil in a man’s face and bashes his head in with the hot skillet. Then he drives sharp metal spikes through another screaming man’s eardrums and scoops out his eyeballs. Between massacres, the cop sings love songs in a karaoke cabaret. I don’t want to tell you what he does with a samurai sword, or how he slashes open Kristin Scott Thomas’s body with a butcher knife before a drooling Gosling inserts his hands and does unspeakable things with her entrails.

Tell us what you really think Rex.

"2016 Obama's America" Movie Review

I went to see “2016: Obama’s America”

First, a few spoilers: there were no car chases, no shootouts, no explicit sex and no cartoon characters.
That said, Dinesh D'Souza, an Indian immigrant, provides us with a view of the world that no one who was brought up in America can genuinely feel.  It takes an immigrant to really understand Barack Hussein Obama because, despite being born in Hawaii, he has a view of America that anyone who immigrates here at an early age has.   An outsider's view.  I know; I'm also an immigrant.

He grew up in a number of places; his earliest – formative - years in Indonesia.  His father left shortly after his birth and his mother was an anti-American, anti-capitalist, anthropologist.  He may be an American citizen but he views his “roots” as Kenyan.
Without spoiling the film, “2016” is a powerful explanation of the first President who’s a mystery man to most people and who genuinely doesn’t sympathize with the American history and culture.
My wife went to see the movie with be, but before we went in, she asked me “tell me again, why are we seeing this movie?”  She went because I wanted to see it.  I tried to explain that it was much talked about and I was told it provided an insight into Obama.  Afterward, as we were driving home she told me that this movie so  impressed her that she was going to volunteer at a phone bank for Mitt Romney.
Go see it; take your friends.  It will leave an indelible impression.

Just in case your wondered what the movie was all about....

Innocence Of Muslims Original Movie

2016 May Bring Good Things

I literally don't remember the last time I went to the movies (getting a little forgetful) but there's a good movie house within a few miles with a really big screen, really big sound, and you can order a meal at little tables.  It's dinner theater.  The problem is that I can't find a movie that I want to see with actors that I want to watch.  This may be the reason:

With a box-office take rapidly approaching $30 million, 2016 is already the second highest-grossing feature-length documentary ever. In mainstream Hollywood, its success was totally unexpected—a word that carries the same irony Glenn Reynolds has imbued it with since Obama took office because it comes at the same time that Hollywood’s overall numbers are tanking.

It’s not just that, as the BBC reports, the overall box-office take this past weekend was the lowest for more than a decade. It’s that, in general, fewer people are paying to see movies.

The most obvious—and cited—reason for Hollywood’s decline is that it rarely produces films for adult audiences uninterested in comic-book characters, animation, fairy tales, talking bears, or dystopian fantasies—categories that fit 20 of the top 25 highest-grossing films so far this year.

But I’m absolutely certain there’s a more important factor—actually, two factors, inseparably intertwined. The first is that mainstream Americans—the kind who used to go with some regularity to the movies, whether they lived on the coasts or in “flyover country”—no longer see mainstream America represented on screen.

Now, 2016 I would go out to see.
