'After All, Didn't America Invent Slavery?'

The amazing and disturbing answer is that students are being taught this lie.

If you think the title’s question is silly, you’re right. But here’s the problem: Increasing numbers of college students today would unhesitatingly respond, “Hell, yes!” to the query. Could it be because that is what they are being taught?

I first learned of this misconception about slavery about three years ago, when a professor published the results of 11 years of his quizzing his students at the start of each year on what they knew about American history and Western civilization.

By far the most shocking result to emerge from his years of polling is this: Students overwhelmingly believe that slavery “was an American problem . . . and they are very fuzzy about the history of slavery prior to the Colonial era. Their entire education about slavery was confined to America.”...

In perusing the FreeTheSlaves website, the first fact that emerges is it was nearly 9,000 years ago that slavery first appeared, in Mesopotamia (6800 B.C.). Enemies captured in war were commonly kept by the conquering country as slaves.

And in the 1700s B.C., the Egyptian pharaohs enslaved the Israelites, as is discussed in Exodus Chapter 21. Later, the pagan Greeks participated in slavery, for ancient Sparta as well as Athens relied fully on the slave labor of captives.

But Greek slavery paled in comparison to that in ancient Rome. According to historian Mark Cartwright, “slavery was an ever-present feature of the Roman world,” in which “as many as one in three of the population in Italy or one in five across the empire were slaves, and upon this foundation of forced labor was built the entire edifice of the Roman state and society.”

By the 8th century A.D., African slaves were being sold to Arab households in a Muslim world that, at the time, spanned from Spain to Persia.

By the year 1000 A.D., slavery had become common in England’s rural, agricultural economy, with the poor yoking themselves to their landowners through a form of debt bondage. At about the same time, the number of slaves captured in Germany grew so large that their nationality became the generic term for “slaves”—Slavs.

But you knew that didn't you? The answer is that if you're a millennial and went to an American school you would not know any of that.

A review of the book:

Before reading this book, I thought that I was reasonably well-informed on the history of Islam, and I was wrong. The immense scale of the horror inflicted on black Africans by Islamic slavery over 1400 years is stunning, and make no mistake, the practice continues today.

I found this book while looking for an English translation of Tidiane N'Diaye's Le génocide voilé. He gave a interesting interview to the French media recently in which he contrasted the 100 million living descendants of black African slaves in the New World to the few scattered villages of survivors in the Islamic world. As you come to understand the reasons why, the horrors unfold.

John Alembillah Azumah provides an excellent, meticulously footnoted treatment of this incredible subject, and does so from the prospective of one seeking inter-faith dialog. This is not a product of academia, but of religious scholarship. Research in this area and publication of this material would be almost inconceivable in an academic institution under the strictures of pro-Islam political correctness.

That could be the most shocking part of this book. Not the material itself, which is as horrible as history can be, but the willingness of Western apologists for Islam to ignore entirely that jihad against the infidel for the purpose of murder, rape, enslavement, and subjugation is in fact a core tenet of Islam.

Interesting points: most of the slaves crossing the ocean survived (90%) and were allowed to marry. 

Most of the slaves the Arabs kept for themselves were women to be used as sex slaves, the men were castrated and became soldiers.  Roughly 90% died before reaching the slave markets.

 For decades in art circles it was either a rumour or a joke, but now it is confirmed as a fact. The Central Intelligence Agency used American modern art - including the works of such artists as Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko - as a weapon in the Cold War. In the manner of a Renaissance prince - except that it acted secretly - the CIA fostered and promoted American Abstract Expressionist painting around the world for more than 20 years.

For my entire life I thought modern art was the unwitting beneficiary of rich people with no taste.  Now I find that I've been funding it with my tax dollars.

A war doesn’t start until somebody fights back.

There is a very common misconception about war.  The beginning of a war is generally marked by an attack, invasion or other aggressive moves by a country.  But a war can’t start until the aggressor meets resistance.  A brawl usually begins when somebody throws a punch.  But unless the person getting punched hits back it’s not a fight, it’s just somebody taking a beating.

The Twentieth Century is known for war.  But when Germany invaded Austria in 1938 and Czechoslovakia in 1939 we don't refer to the German-Austria war or the German-Czechoslovakian war because there was no resistance.  No resistance = no war.

In late 1938 British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain held up a treaty with Hitler declaring “peace in our time” which led to the Czechs surrender without a fight.  

World War 2 began in 1939 when Germany and the USSR invaded Poland and the Poles fought back with the backing of England and France.  Had the Polish armed forced not resisted, historians may well have classified 1939 as a year of peace. 

The Civil War is instructive.  When the Southern states began seceding from the Union in 1860 there was peace.  It was not until Abraham Lincoln ordered the military to resist the takeover of Fort Sumter that the Union and the Confederacy were at war.  

This is important and it applies to what is happening in the country today.  It’s why my hackles rise when I hear that President Trump is responsible for the open hatred and disunity in this country.  We may as well blame the Poles for World War 2 and Lincoln for the Civil War.  

There has been an ideological assault on America and its culture for decades.  Every nation has its malcontents.  But the Communist ideology, imported from the Soviet Union and its adherents had a major impact on our culture.  When war began in Europe, Communists in this country opposed military support for Britain in its fight against the Nazis until the day Hitler invaded Russia.  The American Left beat the drums for war only when Communism and Stalin were in danger.    

The Left blamed America for the Cold War.  For decades after the end of World War 2 they were dismissed as an irritant by the vast majority of the American people, the people I’ll call “Normal.”  Normals loved America, its founding, and saw it as a force for good in the world.  But gradually the Left began to dominate the culture, capturing the press, entertainment, and academia.  Normal people found themselves, their history and their belief in freedom and individual initiative under attack.   

Obama, the archetype of the Left, told Americans “you didn’t build that.”   He accused normal Americans of bigotry,  calling them "bitter clingers."  Hillary called them deplorable and irredeemable and the Liberal fans who could afford $1000-a-plate-dinners laughed and cheered.   

It's now understood by all "right-thinking" people that white heterosexual males are what’s wrong with the world. 

The Black editor-in-chief of the New York Times decreed that black slaves built America while whites sat idly by when they are not raping, pillaging, plundering and burning crosses.  Democrat members of Congress supported Islamic terrorists, the extinction of Israel and supported those who want to exterminate Jews.  These are not "fringe" views, they are held by very important people, some even running for President. 

And us Normals didn’t find ourselves with any meaningful defenders.  Mocked by Conrad Black as the OBushinton political establishment we gradually came to realize that all members of the Ruling Class - Democrat and Republican - approved of the assault on Normals.   The Tea Party was seen as a threat by both parties.

 Republicans gave us lip service when they courted our vote but were careful never to actually do anything to support our values while in office.  If we called them out on their failure to deliver on their promises, they whined that they just didn’t have the votes and asked for money for the next election when they promised - pinkie swear – that next time they would keep their pledges.  But next time never came because it was all a show; “boob bait for Bubba” as Moynihan so eloquently put it.   

 The Bushes exemplified the Republican version of the Ruling Class that basically agreed with the Zeitgeist.  Bush 1’s “Kinder and Gentler” slogan was actually a slap at the Reagan era.  Bush 2 inadvertently presided over 9/11 and once the Iraq war became a quagmire stood by supinely while the Left branded him a warmongering Hitler-wanna-be.  John McCain was the press’ favorite Republican as long as the “Maverick” attacked Conservatives.  His running mate, Sarah Palin, was knifed in the back by McCain staff while the press stabbed her from the front.  Once McCain became the Republican nominee the press slimed him as an over-the-hill adulterer.  Romney was such a Boy Scout that he allowed himself to be double-teamed in a political debate by Obama and moderator Candy Crowley.  Publications that pretended to resist the Left’s cultural onslaught like National Review and Weekly Standard were so anxious to join the Left’s juggernaut that they denounced the Normals as heatedly as any on the Left as soon as Normals left the reservation.   

Normals were told that their customs and beliefs were not just wrong but illegal.  Gay marriage was created by an edict of the Ruling Class.  Normals were required not just to be tolerant but join in the celebration.  Bake them a cake, host their wedding pizza party or be held up to public humiliation and watch your business destroyed.  

People who think there are only two genders are classified as haters who hate, hate, hate.  Joe Biden was recently asked how many genders there were and his reply - “3” - was roundly mocked.  There is no “Woke” right answer.  Whatever your reply, it’s going to be wrong tomorrow and you will be denounced by the gender police.

Men dressed as women were suddenly transformed from mental cases to a protected class with their own letter in a growing alphabet of celebrated perversions.  Normal people go to a public bathroom designated for men or women and expect to see a member of the same sex there.  Wrong again, Buffalo Breath!  If you expect that, you’re pilloried as a bigot and will be exposed and boycotted by a new class of culture warriors who will scream at you and drive you out of restaurants after spitting in your face.    

There are very few people roaming the country who are mentally unstable enough to disown their own sexual organs.  The larger game is a power play by culture warriors to demonstrate their ability to destroy Normals.  They will smash the statue of your fallen hero to demonstrate their power in exactly the same way as the Taliban do in the territory they control; because they can.  It's cultural rape and, like sexual rape,  it’s done to show dominance.  They revel as Normals are forced to stand by.  Vikings, Vandals and other barbarians throughout history have done the same thing as they pillaged and plundered people that didn't have the ability or the will to resist.   

   

There’s a similarity between the Left’s onslaught and Nazi ideology.  Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” published in 1925 is an indictment of Jews for the ills that the Germans suffered following World War 1.  In 2019 the leading American newspaper, the New York Times, began the 1691 Project claiming that Black slaves built America and Whites are responsible for all its faults.   Nothing could be more Hitlerian than this.  

In Donald Trump, the American people have the first leader who is willing and able to lead them in resisting the onslaught of the Left in its attack on Normals.  He is willing to engage the Culture War.     

 His style is counter-attack and he gives with the same gusto and brutality as his attackers.  It shocked them at first, accustomed as they are to Republicans cowering when attacked.  The "polite" part of the Democrat Party began by calling him "un-Presidential."  The others went straight for calling him a mass murderer - worse than Stalin, Hitler and Mao - and accused him of stealing the election in collusion with Vladimir Putin.   In a very real way, Trump has driven the Leftist aggressors insane.  Failing to drive him from office via the Deep State's "insurance policy" they have become unhinged.  They are now saying that people using “reasonable” arguments are slaveholders.  

It remains to be seen if Trump, who is unique in the political world, will prevail or will be over-run by a horde of totalitarian Luddites who worship strange beliefs about the earth.  After all, the Poles were defeated after being double-teamed by two of the most despotic regimes in modern history.  But he fights, and so far he has prevailed in the face of the fires of Hell deployed by every sector of the Ruling Class against him.  We have an actual culture war instead of a Left-wing gang rape of the American culture thanks to Trump.  God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform.

There Is No ‘Gay Gene,’ Comprehensive Scientific Study Finds

Recent polls have shown that most Americans believe that homosexuals are “born that way” rather than become gay as the result of environmental factors. In fact, perpetuating the belief that sexual orientation is innate has been crucial to the gay rights movement. According to the most recent Gallup Poll on the subject, 88 percent of people who believe homosexuals are “born that way” support the legality of same-sex marriage, while only 39 percent of those who believe homosexuality is the result of environmental factors support the legality of same-sex marriage.

So, what happens when science proves that homosexuals aren’t “born that way”? Perhaps we’ll find out. ...

According to Ganna, these genetic variances have “a very small effect” on sexual behavior, and combined, only explain “considerably less than 1% of the variance in the self-reported same-sex sexual behavior.” This means that non-genetic factors, including environment, upbringing, personality, and nurture “are far more significant in influencing a person's choice of sexual partner, just as with most other personality, behavioral and physical human traits,” according to the researchers.

In a transcript of the newspaper’s crisis town-hall meeting, executive editor Dean Baquet grapples with a restive staff and outside scrutiny.

Staffer: Hello, I have another question about racism. I’m wondering to what extent you think that the fact of racism and white supremacy being sort of the foundation of this country should play into our reporting. Just because it feels to me like it should be a starting point, you know? Like these conversations about what is racist, what isn’t racist. I just feel like racism is in everything. It should be considered in our science reporting, in our culture reporting, in our national reporting. And so, to me, it’s less about the individual instances of racism, and sort of how we’re thinking about racism and white supremacy as the foundation of all of the systems in the country. And I think particularly as we are launching a 1619 Project, I feel like that’s going to open us up to even more criticism from people who are like, “OK, well you’re saying this, and you’re producing this big project about this. But are you guys actually considering this in your daily reporting?”

Bias has killed the ‘Gray Lady’ — and Dean Baquet fired the fatal shot

While reading the transcript of a New York Times staff meeting, a Lily Tomlin line came to mind: “No matter how cynical you get, it is impossible to keep up.”

In this case, it is also impossible not to be disheartened and furious. The transcript shows that the rot of bias at the Times is far beyond the pale and there is no hope of recovery. Yet not a single person there declared the obvious — that the paper is ­betraying its principles.

Rigor in reporting and restraint in judgment once made the Gray Lady noble. Now she is dead, her homicide an inside job.

The transcript, leaked to Slate, reveals a confederacy of ignorance and bigotry involving hundreds of people. The ringleader is executive editor Dean Baquet, who fires the fatal shot into the credibility of his paper....

Readers who want straight facts and fair play won’t find it in the Times. All they will get is a biased agenda and a guaranteed conclusion.

Celebrity authors Barack and Michelle Obama are striking a blow for social, economic, and climate justice, vowing to donate an undisclosed eight-figure sum to Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck in exchange for his massive beachfront estate on Martha's Vineyard, the luxury island vacation spot popular with Northeastern elites, boat-shoed bon vivants, and other rich freaks who use "summer" as a verb and donate to Pete Buttigieg.

The 29-acre property, which includes a 7,000-square-foot main house with seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and two guest wings, is listed at $14.85 million—well within the Obamas' price range after signing a "high eight-figure" production deal with Netflix, in addition to a joint book deal reportedly worth $65 million. There's also an outdoor pool and fireplace, balcony jacuzzi, chef's kitchen, and a private boathouse.

The former president, who once scolded Wall Street executives by saying, "I do think at a certain point you've made enough money," is potentially suffering from wealth anxiety, which could explain why he has decided to give so much money to such a worthy cause.

The purchase has not yet been finalized, but barring any unforeseen setbacks, the Obamas will soon become the proud owners of their third mansion, in addition to properties in Chicago and Washington, D.C. "There's only so big a house you can have," Barack Obama said in 2018.

Obama once claimed his election marked "the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow." The decision to buy a property so close to the water is perhaps a subtle vote of confidence in President Donald Trump's efforts to combat climate change.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has apologized—again—to Native Americans for the DNA tests she took to determine if she’s really part Cherokee. Speaking at a forum in Sioux City, Iowa, earlier this week, she said, “Like anyone who has been honest with themselves, I know I have made mistakes.” Warren apologized back in January, but only after initially refusing in October to say she was sorry, until the backlash grew so strong that she relented. With her second apology, Warren has set a new standard in the Democratic presidential primary, which some wags have dubbed the “I’m Sorry Primary.”

Former vice president Joe Biden has already apologized for his fond memories of working with segregationists in the Senate. Senator Kamala Harris, meantime, has apologized for the “unintended consequences” of a truancy law she promoted in California. Hawaii representative Tulsi Gabbard is sorry for having once opposed gay marriage, while Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has apologized for her formerly tough-on-immigration positions. Beto O’Rourke has apologized for joking about how his wife is the one raising their kids, while Marianne Williamson has asked white people to apologize to African-Americans. Finally, South Bend’s mayor, Pete Buttigieg, has apologized for saying, “All Lives Matter.” It’s not that they don’t—you’re just not allowed to say that they do. And to think that the voting doesn’t even begin for another six months!

Michael Mann Refuses to Produce Data, Loses Case

What happened was that Dr. Ball asserted a truth defense. He argued that the hockey stick was a deliberate fraud, something that could be proved if one had access to the data and calculations, in particular the R2 regression analysis, underlying it. Mann refused to produce these documents. He was ordered to produce them by the court and given a deadline. He still refused to produce them, so the court dismissed his case.

The rules of discovery provide that a litigant must make available to opposing parties documents that reasonably bear on the issues in the case. Here, it is absurd for Mann to sue Ball for libel, and then refuse to produce the documents that would have helped to show whether Ball’s statement about him–he belongs in the state pen–was true or false. The logical inference is that the R2 regression analysis and other materials, if produced, would have supported Ball’s claim that the hockey stick was a deliberate fraud on Mann’s part.
