To anyone who's been watching attentively, the Leftist rhetorical pattern is fairly clear:

• 
  
  Start with dismissals of the opponent's intelligence and understanding;
• 
  
  Second, question his "real" motives;
• 
  
  Third, assign him defamatory motives (e.g., "racism," "sexism," "homophobia," or generic "intolerance");
• 
  
  Fourth, incite fears of violence and impute them to his rhetoric.

...it is the unvarying pattern of the Left, and its political arm the Democrat Party, when faced with substantial, vocal opposition.
