Morning Joe forgot to Mention Ayotte today and I left out the $300 paycheck pitch.

The deputy of slain U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens has told congressional investigators that a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa.

The account from Gregory Hicks is in stark contrast to assertions from the Obama administration, which insisted that nobody was ever told to stand down and that all available resources were utilized. Hicks gave private testimony to congressional investigators last month in advance of his upcoming appearance at a congressional hearing Wednesday

At this point my best estimate is that Team Obama panicked when the attack on the embassy in Benghazi occurred. They did not want to send in help because they believed that putting more military assets there could increase the number of casualties just before the election. They had a cover story about a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a video.  That would work if only a few Americans died.  But they would not be able to cover up a larger firefight. So the men who were there were left to their fate to die.   And so far, it worked.  It remains to be seen if the cover can hold.
