Dr. Fauci has much to answer for

  

 “I am Science” Fauci has much to answer for, and one of them is an elderly widow in North Carolina. 

I spoke with her today, and when I asked her how she was doing, she admitted that she was not doing well.  I asked if she was ill.  No, she said, she’s sad and depressed because she has been confined to her house for years.

"Why?" I asked.  It’s because of “science.”  You see, she’s 82 years old, and she’s staying indoors and only goes out masked because she doesn’t want to die.  The “science” tells her, as an elderly widow, that to keep on living, she should spend her time indoors, away from people. 

A retired schoolteacher trained and conditioned to live like a hermit suffers depression because people like Anthony Fauci –who publicly identified himself with science – have not told her that she could go back to living a normal life.  She’s a Christian, but her faith in Jesus Christ is not nearly as strong as in Fauci – and Science.

There are a lot of things that Anthony Fauci should answer for, but when it gets to the personal level, he should be tried for impersonating “Science” and destroying the last reaming years of an unfortunate widow living by herself in n North Carolina who is afraid to go out and resume life, because Fauci has convinced her that to go out, is a death sentence.

The endless media worship of Anthony Fauci is the culmination of this. He resisted it in his first casting as a glorified antagonist to Donald Trump, hiding his anguished brow during press briefings. But he seems to have realized that his inflated status was a convenient cover to avoid answering questions about his larger role in the pandemic, specifically his relationships with EcoHealth Alliance, its head Peter Daszak, his friends at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and its bosses in the government of China.

 To understand Anthony Fauci is to understand that this is his career’s work. The enormity of that goes far beyond Twitter hashtags and cable news monologues. We might conclude that the pandemic is the predictable result of human beings screwing around with nature’s source code — so predictable that even the CIA foresaw it.We might hope that Covid is a once-in-a century event, an almost unfathomable accident. We might fear that, because the pandemic response is hard to process on a day-to-day level, it’s simply the end. We would be grievously mistaken.

 The response to the pandemic has radically transformed the working and social lives of everyday people all over the world. Anthony Fauci and his colleagues view this as the scientific process — even if it’s a process they most likely started and manipulated. Every new discovery, and every new step down the path of pandemic response, furthers that process — even if it results in mass death, economic destruction, a lost generation of schoolkids and permanent masking for the survivors.

When Frankenstein’s monster broke out of his dungeon and wrought havoc on the village below, killing scores, the doctors did not attempt to stop the carnage. They simply watched, studied it and wondered what they could learn. Medical bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci are just getting started. Sixteen million deaths are simply another opportunity for new funding: more research, more viral tinkering, more genetic splicing, more protein manipulation, all of it creating the material for the next pandemic, that can then be fixed by the federal government’s partner, Big Pharma.

Kulldorff & Bhattacharya Respond: The Collins and Fauci Attack on Traditional Public Health

 

Collins and Fauci played critical roles in designing and advocating for the pandemic lockdown strategy adopted by the United States and many other countries. In emails written four days after the Great Barrington Declaration and disclosed recently after a FOIA request, it was revealed that the two conspired to undermine the Declaration. Rather than engaging in scientific discourse, they authorized “a quick and devastating published takedown” of this proposal, which they characterized as by “three fringe epidemiologists” from Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.

Across the pond, they were joined by their close colleague, Dr. Jeremy Farrar, the head of the Wellcome Trust, one of the world’s biggest non-governmental funders of medical research. He worked with Dominic Cummings, the political strategist of UK prime minister Boris Johnson. Together, they orchestrated “an aggressive press campaign against those behind the Great Barrington Declaration and others opposed to blanket COVID-19 restrictions.”

Ignoring the call for focused protection of the vulnerable, Collins and Fauci purposely mischaracterized the GBDl as a “let-it-rip” “herd immunity strategy,” even though focused protection is the very opposite of a let-it-rip strategy. It is more appropriate to call the lockdown strategy that has been followed a “let-it-rip” strategy. Without focused protection, every age group will eventually be exposed in equal proportion, albeit at a prolonged “let-it-drip” pace compared to a do-nothing strategy.

We do not know why Collins and Fauci decided to do a “take down” rather than use their esteemed positions to build and promote vigorous scientific discussions on these critical issues, engaging scientists with different expertise and perspectives.  Part of the answer may lie in another puzzle–their blindness to the devastating effects of lockdowns on other public health outcomes.....

Lockdown harms have affected everyone, with an extra heavy burden on the chronically ill; on children, for whom schools were closed; on the working class, especially those in the densely populated inner cities; and on the global poor, with tens of millions suffering from malnutrition and starvation. For example, Fauci was a major advocate for school closures. These are now widely recognized as an enormous mistake that harmed children without affecting disease spread. In the coming years, we must work hard to reverse the damage caused by our misguided pandemic strategy.

Stanford Scientist Gave a Diagnosis of Anthony Fauci's Credibility. You May Want to Sit Down.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is busted stuff. He's damaged goods. He's a liar. He needs to go away. Every time he gets on television to stroke his ego, he only damages the very institutions entrusted with fighting pathogens and preparing for future pandemics. The medical expert community is finished for a while. There's no reason to listen to them ever again. They said wear masks but didn't tell us that the store-bought products were useless. There was no such thing as asymptomatic spread. He thought a COVID vaccine wasn't necessary, and there's quite a paper trail concerning Fauci, the NIH, EcoHealth Alliance, and the grants doled out to the Wuhan virology lab that might be the epicenter for this pandemic. 

 The emails Fauci sent, which were obtained via a FOIA request, show a massive history of lying to the public about some key COVID protocols that simply were not backed by science. They went along with it anyway. Noble lies…are still lies, and when exposed, the damage can be catastrophic. It shows the scientific community decided to peddle pure fiction. It shows they got political. It shows the bias that has seeped into this expert community. And now they must now speak to empty rooms because no one should ever listen to these people again. They kept us scared about asymptomatic spread that's as real as the Russian collusion myth. Oh, and the variants—it's all scare tactics. Remember the "impending doom" we faced during spring break? Nothing happened. The ruse is up, and a Stanford epidemiologist summed up Fauci perfectly concerning his credibility.

Officials like Fauci have undermined trust in government institutions

We now have several COVID vaccines. All work, all have passed safety testing, and all are in wide distribution.

This is a huge accomplishment, but there’s one problem: A lot of people aren’t taking the shot. 

Are they just ignorant anti-vaxxers?

No. As a recent focus group by Frank Luntz, reported in The Washington Post, demonstrates, a lot of people who won’t take the vaccine aren’t skeptical about vaccines in general. Just about this batch.

So maybe they’re just Red State Luddites?

No. In fact, it’s a worldwide phenomenon. Yes, there’s resistance in the United States: Gallup reported in February that 34 percent of front-line health workers said they wouldn’t get the vaccine, with another 18 percent unsure; fewer than half said they would definitely get jabbed. Only 65 percent of Americans as a whole said they would get the vaccine.

But there’s also resistance abroad. Reuters reported that only about half of French care-home workers are willing to get the vaccine; the rest prefer to wait and see if it’s safe. Reuters quotes a union official who says “there’s a complete lack of trust.”

Reuters reports similar numbers in Germany. Also in Germany, and in Italy, thousands of health-care workers have refused the AstraZeneca vaccine, even though it’s approved in Europe. In the German state of Saarland, The Wall Street Journal reports, over half of health workers slated to get a shot simply failed to show up.

PBS NewsHour reports similar vaccine-skepticism in India. And NBC reports that thousands of serving US military personnel are opting not to take the vaccine.

So what’s the problem? For so much of the lockdown period, we heard the words “until there’s a vaccine.” Now we have a vaccine — several, in fact — and in record time, thanks to Operation Warp Speed. Why are so many people, including health-care workers who should know the most and care the most, refusing it now?

I think it comes down to, in that French trade-union official’s words, “a complete lack of trust.”

Trust is the single most important asset that the public-health community has. Public health involves getting people to change behaviors, and accept vaccines and medications, to control disease.

For most of my lifetime, that has been an easy task: People trusted the public-health authorities, in part because they had a long track record of making people’s lives better. And, of course, people trusted institutions in general.

But now trust is harder to come by. Institutions in general are less trusted, as one legacy of the Trump era has been the revelation of just how politicized (and sometimes corrupt) so many of our major institutions are.

And then there’s the record of the public-health establishment itself in the COVID era, which has been untrustworthy. Just over a year ago, in early March 2020, Dr. Anthony Fauci was telling us it was safe to go on a cruise, and experts said that masks wouldn’t be of any use for most people.

Both of those statements were quickly reversed, but when it came out that the mask recommendation was really just meant to ensure supplies for health-care workers, Fauci’s — and the World Health Organization’s — trust levels took a major hit.

Fauci also told us last April that it would be at least a year to 18 months before we saw a vaccine, when in fact one was deployed as early as November of the same year. When asked about herd immunity, Fauci moved the goalposts, when experts were saying that the threshold for herd immunity was 60 percent of the population being vaccinated or immune. Then he revised the number up to 70, 75 and eventually 85.

Why? As Fauci admitted, he was manipulating us: “When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent. . . . Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, ‘I can nudge this up a bit,’ so I went to 80, 85.”

People noticed, partly because he was bragging to a New York Times reporter when he said that.

Likewise, lockdowns were widely prescribed, and continue to be, even though the World Health Organization admits they don’t work. (A recent paper in Nature came to the same conclusion.) Where’s the science?

It doesn’t help that Democratic politicians like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Andrew Cuomo were expressing vaccine-skepticism during the runup to the 2020 elections.  Sure, they changed their tunes afterward, but that doesn’t inspire trust either.

When you manipulate people, they notice, and they trust you less. Do better.

On Thursday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical adviser to President Biden, said that "even though it isn't backed by data," if two vaccinated people want to get together, they can, "though the risk is not zero."...

Fauci stated, "What we're saying right now, even though it isn't backed by data, it's backed by common sense that if you have two vaccinated people, and they want to get together, be they family members, or friends that you know, are vaccinated, you can start getting, as individual people, even though the risk is not zero."

There is a non-zero risk that if someone starts exercising after years of being idle, he might have a heart attack and die. A non-zero risk of a bad outcome has never been a reason to remain locked up inside your house like a fucking vegetable on life support.

In addition, the efficacy of lockdowns of the healthy is not "backed by data." Quite the opposite.

And yet here we are, in week 46 of the Two Weeks to Flatten the Curve.

This is not science. This is mental illness. This is a group of control freaks and attention whores who want control and demand attention, on one hand, and on the other hand, a lot of neurotic people who live as virtual shut-ins by personal choice and want to see their bizarre lifestyle choices both mainstreamed and made mandatory.

He spouted his deadly rhetoric in a speech today, going on about how even if Americans get two doses of the vaccine they should keep triple-masking, avoid going outside, and stay in their homes and die alone.

Reports indicate that the conspiracy theorist isn't just a no-name cult leader on YouTube or something but is incredibly popular, with millions of people hanging on his every word.

"It's really scary how many people are listening to this dangerous, anti-science conspiracy theorist," said one scientist. "We're trying to get people to get vaccinated, and this guy comes along and starts spewing his nonsense about how vaccinated people could still get the virus and so can't go to theatres, baseball games, or restaurants for at least a year or two. He's really harming public discourse on the issue."

What's more, the conspiracy theory-pushing extremist is clearly a grifter, as images surfaced of him going to a baseball game and taking his mask off throughout last year.

Nation Prepares To Celebrate 1st Anniversary Of Two Weeks To Flatten The Curve

U.S.—The nation is preparing to celebrate what is expected to become a beloved annual holiday: Two Weeks To Slow The Spread Day, to be held in March every year.

"This time of year we like to come together to remember the historic day one year ago when we put on masks and locked ourselves down, trusting that the lockdown would be over in just two weeks," said local man Paul Christof as he stared out his window longingly, his three masks securely in place. "This year, I'm going all out with a Zoom party with no more than five of my closest friends -- I mean, closest, figuratively speaking, of course. We'll be literally far apart, because I want to stay home and stay safe, and I don't want grandma to die."

Traditional festivities for the newly christened American holiday include remote Amazon gift exchanges, ordering DoorDash feasts for just yourself, and the customary binging of the Netflix. Historians believe the holiday will become a hit, and people will continue to wear masks and stay home throughout the year as the festive day is celebrated for hundreds of years to come.

Do you ever wonder why the China virus is having such a big effect on the country if we have the brilliant Dr. Fauci leading the fight against it?

 

I was relieved when I first saw Fauci on TV -- sometime in March 2020 -- thinking dimly to myself, for the millionth time, "Ah, an adult in the room." Amid a ceaseless current of chaos and grief, Fauci�s egoless display of competence, his grandfatherly warmth and irony, were ports in a storm.

But a comforting bedside manner has done little to mitigate catastrophe. Over 400,000 Americans are dead, twice as many as any other country. Infections, hospitalizations, and deaths are currently at record highs. And although we have a vaccine, the rollout has already been stymied by a dearth of resources and coordination. As one public health expert told The New York Times on January 17, our pandemic response has been "a colossal failure at every level of government." And herein lies a paradox. America is suffering from a disease outbreak whose morbid scope is the consequence of world-historic negligence. We are desperately and needlessly sick. And yet, the man known as "America's Doctor," the undisputed personification of public health research and pandemic preparedness, faces no reputational consequences. On the contrary, Dr. Fauci remains one of our most beloved public figures.
